My contact supply was barren so I reached out to MyEyeDr to make a same-day appointment. My usual people at Mosaic were completely booked up so I decided to see Dr. Papie at the Vienna location. Dr. Papie was extremely thorough, kind, and knowledgable. He had great bedside manner and took some extra time to explain why he was performing certain tests or asking me certain questions. The front desk was extremely kind and efficient and I was in-and-out with a year's supply order of contacts in the mail and a few extra packages to get me through the next few days. Parking was easy and it was not too busy which means I'll probably make my next yearly appointment here as well. Highly recommend. read more

In fact, was told by the rude receptionist that I should have been earlier since I was the last appt. Of course NO one (by phone, text, email) told me that I needed to be there early. Performed services that they knew my insurance wouldn't cover without my authorization. Tried to play it off like standard practice at the end of my visit when they told me I owed them an additional $40 for retinal imaging in addition to my regular copay. Nothing in my medical history or condition would indicate such a scan would be necessary. The end of my visit with the optometrist segued seamlessly into a high pressure sales conversation with their eyeglasses shop who felt it necessary to keep reminding me that I'd miss out on my eye benefits by not buying something today. My Rx has barely changed, and their own optometrist confirmed that. I'm glad I asked plenty of follow-up questions. Even their "low cost" frames would still require a $50 upcharge to get lenses with an anti-glare coating that my insurance would not have paid for. Took the Rx to Warby Parker and was able to get a pair that fit my needs and had said coating without spending a dime. read more

11/16/23 America's Best Contacts& Eyeglasses eh?! After reading your review Becky, I started thinking about My Eye Doctor's last appointment back on July 15th... On my 47th birthday I might add. My wife and I both ordered glasses on July 15th, but I decided not get my glasses at the time.   I paid $369 which included a $29 eye exam fee.  I should have received $340 back, but the lady returned $330 back to me. I saw there was a return fee for my glasses, but this is just bullshit.   The actual fee name that I saw on my  receipt iescapes me right now.  This experience  at my former eye glass place still burns my ass. It has taken a while for my butt to stop burning. My wife's ass is now the one on fire.  Two weeks after placing her order for new glasses, they come back incorrect.   She asked for a refund at the time and was told, "My Eye Doctor's doesn't do refunds."  So my wife had her glasses sent back out to get they fixed once again.   On August 19th my wife went to pick up her glasses again.  A few days later my wife notices things aren't what they should be with her glasses. She ended up taking her glasses back to the Vienna Me Eye Doctor. This time my wife wasn't about to hear the "We don't do refunds" excuse from Miss Preston Priss. My wife got all her money back except the 29 for her eye exam.  Now she has to check with her insurance to make sure they got their money back too. It would seem since the Global Pandemic, customer service has gone down hill and once the companies get your money, that is where the caring stops and the bullshit begins. Finding a new eye glass place might not be easy.  I might be inclined to try My Eye Doctor's, but at a different store.   Getting my new prescription glasses are needed, but is it worth the headaches at The Vienna Store?! If you have VSP insurance and are looking to get glasses/sunglasses, don't bother with Visionworks Vienna. I went there first bc it's closer to home. They, however, overcharge for anything and everything (all Raybans start at an astronomical $250 ... Are you serious? C'mon now...) My next stop was MyEyeDr Vienna, which offers a much better shopping experience, as well as significantly better 'down to earth' pricing. I worked with Wendy, who is extremely professional / great at her job, and had my new $160 Rayban sunglasses ordered / picked up in a couple days. FYI - My VSP insurance has a $175 frame allowance that can be used on sunglasses if you've had laser vision correction surgery. My sunglasses were $160 OTD. I just needed to pay a $25 copay. First strike-- Their credit card machine wasn't working. I waited over 10 minutes. They couldn't get it working. Instead of being sorry and apologizing for the inconvenience, they wanted me to write down my credit card number on a piece of paper and proceeded to treat me like I'm trying get a free eye exam and told me rudely that they will be withholding my prescription until I pay. I call the next day but they never answer the phone. Had to play multiple rounds of phone tag to pay. Then was supposed to get emailed prescription except they don't send me the right file. Location on St. Asaph St., Alexandria, Va. Glasses were supposed to arrive beginning of February but was told they were delayed in manufacturing. Found out the lens coatings weren't even ordered until Feb. 7. Still not in. Manager, Corey, is unreachable and never at the store. Paid with my HSA and switched insurance starting Feb. I'm out hundreds of dollars, no glasses, and can't reach anyone. Worst place to get glasses. Go to Warby Parker. read more

THEY DO NOT DESERVE ANY STARS!! Incompetent receptionist/s, glasses fitters, lens ordering and management. The Oakton location is very good. Vienna office should not be seeing patients. Stunningly poor at every level. Now this includes the Oakton location too. Went to Oakton this year thinking they'd be ok since they fixed us up last year. Nope! 4 sets of lenses and the last set I got checked by another optometrist and the script was wrong. Taking money from insurance companies and whatever out of pocket costs and turning around with glasses that are not correct. They did reimburse and are supposed to restore benefits. I've been coming to this location (Vienna) for several years and have purchased multiple pairs of prescription glasses. When I relocated and visited another location, they messed up my prescription twice (and months of back & forth) brought be BACK to the Vienna location for help. While the doctor fixed my prescription and they replaced lenses in five pairs of eyeglasses/sunglasses, one of the frames got adjusted too much obviously and the lens is loose in one eye and rattles when I wear them. I notified them of the issue and they refused to replace the frames. But, offered me an option to buy new frames at a discount cost of $150! I've spent $3k+ in the last few years on frames, lenses, warranty, etc. so I'm not interested in continuing to spend money on things that they really need to take care of. Had I not gone back and forth numerous times getting lenses swapped out (no fault of my own), the frames would not have been damaged. I will never ever give this chain my business again. And, I will not recommend them either. read more

First - Dr. Vu Gia is AMAZING. He is professional, kind, caring, patient, and knowledgeable. He gives you all of your options and lets you make an informed decision about your eye care. We have been his patients for years and always appreciate his calm demeanor and caring attitude. But since the office sold out to My Eye Dr - ugh. Not good. Staff consistently over promise and under deliver. There seems to be high turnover (which is the opposite of when it was a private office - staff then were amazing). The set up of the display area has changed to cram more tables in and it is not cozy or welcoming at all. Staff do not seem to know anything about eye care but just be hourly employees doing a job (that many of them are not well trained to do). We are sadly thinking of changing providers - not because of the DOCTOR but because of the BUSINESS. I have very hard to fit contact lenses and Dr. Vu Gia has been the BEST at getting my prescriptions right, but having to wade through the poor customer service offered by everyone but HIM is frustrating. I wrote a review of this office previously and gave it 5 stars (before it sold out to My Eye Dr). If I could review only the DOCTOR and not the BUSINESS, it would definitely still be 5 stars. Sadly, the doctor is associated with the business, and it reflects very poorly on him. By comparison, it is like if a world class heart surgeon was seeing patients in WalMart. read more

My husband went to this My eye dr in Vienna VA. Me, my husband and kid all went there last year to get new glasses. My husband got prescribed the same power on both eyes which is wrong by SAHAR EMAMI. When called this office now, they say that my husband should have come to the office earlier and got it checked. When we checked with another eye dr, the wrong prescription has completely messed up his eyes. Be safe than sorry. Avoid this office if you want to have your eye sight. I filled out the proper forms- nearly a year ago, and NOBODY has responded. Not a soul. This is literally the worst company in the United States. MyEyeDr is incapable of delivering professional customer service. They pay their workers slightly above minimum wage (hence the high turnover) but their executive team makes well over six figures. Also, the worker-bees work approximately 50-58 hours per week. The co-manager from Morehead City told me this. Good Grief. Bless her heart. The original review (attached to this thread) was written after I spent nearly an hour on the phone with Avadyne Health (some 3rd party myeyedr uses for billing). The rep said they couldn't help and that I would have to speak with the manager of the myeyedr location where I purchased the glasses. I was connected to the location and was told the manager wasn't available and would call me back within 24 hours. THE MANAGER NEVER CALLED BACK! Readers, please disregard myeyedr's response to the original review. They don't really care about customer service. They want to appear to care about customer service. Will never go back because of the manager (tall dude with glasses). he gave me issues about insurance not covering something, but when they ran it through it was indeed covered. Then he over charged me because he entered in the wrong frame in to the computer. This issue had me on the phone with himover a few hours back and forth all day. They also texted that the glasses were in, I went in and it was not there so I had to come back again another day. Then had to wait again because they couldn't find it. And no apology at any point from the manager who handle it all. Then I went to get contacts to tell me that it's $400 More than last year with insurance. This is after waiting a whole hour to tell me that. So I ordered them on line for $400 less. In the last 6-7 years, with a family of 5, I have probably spent over $10,000 there. I get that maybe their business may have changed their practices, so I don't blame the doctors or some of their staff. But I will never go back again, mainly because the manager. Their lab just doesn't have the expertise to correctly make a progressive. I have been wearing progressive glasses for few years because my long distance vision is fine but I need reading glasses. Even after multiple attempts from their lab to fix how they made my glasses, they still don't work for me. My family went here for routine eye checkups and they've attempted to scam us repeatedly. They even tried to convince us that our insurance wouldn't cover something it does and did so multiple times, even after they had admitted they were wrong and given us a credit the first time. I had been coming here for well over 10 years. My insurance plan has been the same for at least five years. I came last month for an appointment that I had scheduled and ended up waiting for ninety minutes for them to figure out my insurance on their computer even though my insurance had not changed from years before (and no prior issues). I had my insurance card with me, ID etc, so the problem made no sense. I waited without complaining because a one time issue I understand. However, I didn't have time to pick out my glasses after my exam because of the delay. So I came today, just a few weeks later, to choose glasses. Again they start with the difficulty figuring out my insurance! I explained that I had been there a month ago and they had figured it out. After one person at the front desk can't figure it out and gives my insurance card to the manager, the manager is not able to tell me how long it would take to figure out the problem - "a moment" but then continued to be perplexed about my insurance. I explained they had spent 90 min. and solved the problem less than a month ago, they can't spend another 90 min. to figure it out every time I go. So I left. It's disappointing to see a business that truly doesn't care about losing long time customers. read more

Why do you have cameras? Is that what you call "patient relation"? When I adked if that's it, the answer was "yes" Not even one word that they would try to accomendate while I am walking around half blind for several weeks! Not even trying to say we will give you the money for the repair (that would have been customer relation patient care!) I have been going to various myEyeDr. locations (Arlington and Vienna) since 2007 and probably about 5 of those years were with Dr. Cassella in Vienna. I'm conflicted... The medical staff is friendly, thorough and I have no complaints about the exam. The sales side of the business is the problem (which I think you see reflected through numerous reviews here). The sales associate I was working with on my last visit didn't open a case with less expensive frames despite me specifically mentioning it, pushed through lens upgrades/add-ons without asking me (I didn't see the cost until I got the bill), and generally was focused on upcharging me. Couple that with repeated requests to get a copy of my prescription that were a nightmare to process, I realized that the sales side must be commission based or something -- because they are too aggressive. I sent a note to the corporate offices but didn't feel like they offered a response that made me feel better (come in and we will look at exchanging your glasses if you find something else you like) or like they were particularly committed to me as a customer. I've found a new eye doctor and it has made a world of difference. read more

Dr. Frank Cassella is a very thoughtful optometrist and the staff at My Eye Dr. Vienna are kind and accommodating! I just had my yearly appointment and they especially during COVID made me feel very safe while there. Dr. Cassella really listens when I speak and is very patient centered. I decided tro try out MyEyeDr when they dropped off a bunch of promotional coupons to my workplace.The only way they will give you great customer service is when they are making money off of you. I purchased Tory Burch sunglasses from here during that first and last visit. A couple weeks later I went to Lenscrafters as they had the family and friends 75% off discount. I decided to purchase another pair of glasses but needed my prescription. I contacted MyEyeDr and was told they will fax it in 10 mins. A whole hour, 4 phone calls, and lots of arguing later, I received the fax. All because only "one person" has the authority to send faxes. The doctor is a great guy, but the staff, not so great. All I went in for was to get my nose pads replaced on my glasses, and the woman scratched the inside of my lens, right in my line of sight. I went back, and she arranged to get the lens replaced. Claimed she would get an updated prescription to replace the lens she damaged free of charge. Came in a week later for an eye exam for the updated lens, and then a different woman said that it would cost $39 and they can't replace my lens with the new prescription. Needless to say, I was pretty upset. So, she told me, after making me wait for 20 minutes while sorting things out, that they'd call when my lens was ready, made with the outdated prescription. I was fine with that, but the glasses aren't exactly ones you pop a lens out and put a new one in either. But fine, whatever the case, they are fixing the lens, and I'm only out $39. So, that all took place back in April this year, and here we are in almost October. I haven't heard back from them. I left a messages, but heard nothing. An employee's mistake goes uncorrected, and now I'm stuck with a scratch on my lens. Glad I was able to adjust to it, but I spent a good chunk of change on these when I bought them in 2009. Never had a scratch until they put a deep one into it with what I presume was the end of a mini-screwdriver. I will never use MyEyeDr for my eye needs again. This left a very bad taste. Plus, I still remember the second woman who dealt with me and her male co-worker being very rude about my situation. August 10 update: 33+ days later, I still don't have my sunglasses... non-prescription Oakly lenses on double back-order apparently. So, I'm waiting for a call to pick up. I had to give away my prescription lens GROUPON since I couldn't use the $200 voucher ~ as suspected, even after they gave a discount she paid $100. Summer is almost gone now, when will I have my shades man? ----------- I'll have to return to use my GROUPON but ... I went there with my 8 year old after 6 p.m. pick up from his Karate summer camp. We walked in and it wasn't too busy, but everyone seemed to be occupied with something or someone. So I walked around and looked at the sunglasses. (My GROUPON is for $100 sunglasses) I noticed that most of the sunglasses are well over $100. Hmmm. So, after looking at the selections and occasionally standing at the front desk eating the wrapped mints... I started wondering if anyone actually noticed we were there. Well, finally I decided to leave. As my arm reached for the door, one of the people behind the desk asked, "Have you been helped?" (My personality is a lot like the Red Hot Chili Peppers - Can't Stop lyrics) I just smiled and continued on. We were hungry, you know what I'm saying Yelpers! Do I need to write it? Upon entry to your business, a short greeting would have been nice. At some point while we were eating your mints in front of your face, a greeting would have been nice. (The mints were 4 star b.t.w.) With that out there, I suppose I understand why you didn't say a "good bye" to us. So like I said, I'll be back to use the GROUPONS. I also have another GROUPON for an exam and $200 prescription lenses... which I was told I cannot use because I don't need prescription lenses. Errr. So, my friend gets a nice gift. Brought glasses in for replacement of lenses. After several weeks called and found out they had forgotten to send them in. They promised to call in two weeks. I went in and they acted strangely and then said the frames were on backorder. huh? We were just replacing the lenses not frames and it had been six weeks. They kept changing the story but said the glasses were not on site and at manufacturer or something and wouldn't be in for weeks. Then they asked me to just pick new frames. They said they would call within 72 hours and make rush order. Less than a day later I got a call and both glasses were there (pair that was "at manufacturer apparently had never left"). read more

Dr. Cassella is great! Very knowledgeable, helpful and explains everything in laymen terms so that patients understand him. I will certainly keep coming back just for him. All of the staff I have dealt with are also very helpful and friendly. As with any Optometrists office like this, you can tell they just want to sell, sell, sell, perhaps because they are paid by commission? I actually do not know that for a fact but I do not like the feeling of being pushed into purchasing something from the store. I do not have a tough prescription, and I actually have two, but my insurance only covers the lenses so I rarely buy a full set of frames, etc. because you can get just the same quality at a cheaper price. In general, I will continue to come here and will continue to tell the staff I do not want to purchase glasses and I simply want my prescriptions written down so that I can leave :) read more

My immediate family and extended family all go to My Eye Dr. in vienna. The office staff is exceptionally personable and very helpful. Dr. Cassella is second to none. I have been to numerous local eye dr's and i have no problem driving out to vienna from gainesville in order to get 1st class service. They also have a brand new office now that is much more spacious and accommodating for children! :) I highly recommend this office for your next appt. I wont trust anyone or anywhere else! read more

We have used My Eye Doctor Vienna for six years, and always had a good result. Dr Cassella is very knowledgeable and has a great gentle manner with my kids and family. Charkita, one of the staff members, has been particularly helpful several times over the years, and very nice. All of the staff have good taste and make an effort to understand what you want in contacts and glasses. Once, on the day before my vacation, my glasses were accidentally broken -- one of the temples right in half. A pre vacation nightmare. They were so helpful and said that only the temple needed to be replaced, and just needed to find the frame ... She spend quite a while calling all over town to find the frame, but no luck. Then, WOW! Two hours later I came back and my glasses were all ready. Very fast considering that they did not have the part on hand. Another time, they did my daughters eye exam in one day when I found out she was out of contacts a few days before sleep away summer camp. They gave us samples to wear at camp. As for the price: there are many elements to eyeglasses and contacts--stylish frames, proper fit, excellent lenses, correct refraction, health and safety issues with contacts and so on. You can get it done cheaper, but not better. Highly recommend. read more

I had asked the doctor for my prescription, and while I was talking to staff, she bolted for lunch. The staff told me they would e-mail my prescription that afternoon--they did not.
