We contacted Michael Uteo, owner of Myk Beth to handle our estate sale after the sale of our house, October 2025. We were moving out of state and did not need/want any of our collection of furniture, kitchen supplies, or our wood shop. He was very knowledgeable, considerate, and we signed a contract to have him do the sale at the end of February 2026. He said because I was a 100% disabled vet, he would give us his best deal. Right. The sale went great, the cleanup was a bit messy, but it got done. Then, nothing, no contact, no money, and there was a car sold in the sale. We tried calling and texting, but nothing. We contacted the BBB, and they tried to contact him. Nothing. Our loss, maybe your gain. Do not consider his organization for your estate sale. He owes us thousands of dollars and has not had the courtesy to even send us a note. The next step is going to the Hanover Sheriff's Department and swear out a Fraud by Deception complaint against his organization. You have been forewarned; by avoiding him, you will win. read more

We contacted Michael to assist us with selling my father's household property. Michael arrived on time for our appointment, conducted a walkthrough of the residence, and outbuildings, and briefed us on the process and his fees, which we were satisfied with. He told us he would have a proposal, with a setup fee to us within a day. That was the last we saw or heard from him. We text him and called him several times and left messages on his voicemail. We found a number for his answering service and asked the woman to have him call us. He never did. We are thoroughly disappointed with this man who claims to be a retired US Marine. We are retired Navy veterans and selected this company because it is veteran owned. We suspect we were too small a profit margin, or more of a project (waste removal) than he wanted to take on. My elderly father had decided to keep two gold watches and not sell them. Michael had a fit. The day prior he had taken mother's gold jewelry " for appraisal " the next morning he had an employee return the jewelry box with the sterling silver remaining and the gold jewelry missing And decided to cancel our sale. An estranged wife- (we were still married)- passed away-- We had both been avid collectors- of many different types of items- -- I had been following this company-MYK-BETH'S ESTATE SALES-- on EstateSales.com- for several years- and they the best- presentations- on that page. I contacted them. Myk came and took a few pictures. He talked a good game. I signed his contract as he presented it on his computer. I told him there were certain items that were not to be touched. Those items were mostly my collections. Two weeks before the sale I had a severe heart attack and was basically- sent home die. As the sale approached I was unable to provide any oversite of what Myk-Beth's was doing at the house. The sale went on and the house- was basically looted. By his staff or by him I don't know. In his advertising he promised to- and this is from his page " Myk-Beth's provides a sales summary of all major items sold, indicating the amount items sold for at settlement. " HE DID NOT- only in general areas- like KITCHEN- YARD-- ART-- GARAGE--BASEMENT--did he attach GENERAL figures- NO TICKETS were written- and I had many Indian artifacts- much artwork- - Meerschaum Pipes-- and a fantastic number of unusual items- which my wife and I- as antique dealers- had collected over the years-- MYK- promised to research all the really unusual items- He and his team- did not- just loosely priced- everything- most items- were priced- 12-14 -28 dollars- like some folks- just walked around- with the stickers---as I said NO TICKETS- - He also promise to pay in a week- well- after THREE weeks- I had to get EstateSales- to contact him- and he said the check got lost in the mail-- I finally got the check- HE left a totally unnecessary large dumpster in the driveway- at my expense-- of course-- AND- the other main thing-- he was not available- by phone- or e-mail- for months and months- until I had a lawyer- track him down- and contact him- and he was HARD to track down- as his business location---AND- the primary owners of his business- had changed several times- over just a few years-- Too late- I know- but now- I have found other clients of his- that had basically the same problems with him-- MENTIONING again- that I had no way- of tracking the total sales amount- because- MYK- kept no records- of items that should have sold for hundreds of dollars- I think the sales total- was much higher- than he reported- The pictures on his add page- for my sale-- were probably less than 20% of what was actually sold-- Damaged items- were just left- laying in the floor-- broken antique clocks-- which had fallen- due to ill handling-- MYK still does a lot of sales- but does not show the location- NOR- the pictures- of what is for sale- until a day or two before the sale is to start--- I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM- or his company- to anyone- who has valuable objects-- to be placed in an estate sale situation-- read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! We had a horrible experience with them. They talk about how they are a Veteran Friendly company, but unfortunately our experience was quite different. We met with the owner of the company, toured my Father's home (A Veteran), set a date and signed a contract only to find that a few days prior to the contracted sale dates the owner stopped communicating with us. When we reviewed his website for "upcoming sales", ours was not listed. I don't know about anybody else, but when a company commits to do work and then does not follow through, we find it very unacceptable. So we have had to start over after months of preparing for the sales date agreed upon by this company. Very frustrating experience attending one of their sales this week. I drove an hour each way the day before to add my name to their sign-up sheet, and then another hour each way the following day to attend the sale (so, 4 hours total, plus wait time.) I had my eye on one specific item from their ad, which was posted weeks ago. This company does not provide pre-sales, so I made sure to get there early. I was one of the first people to enter and I was not able to locate the item in the spot pictured in the ad, so I asked an employee where it was. They informed me that the item had "disappeared" the night before, and intimated that a family member had taken it. Once a contract for an estate sale is signed and the ad is posted with pictures of the items, nothing should be removed - and if an item IS removed, it should be immediately removed from the ad. I wasted 4+ hours of my week for nothing, when I could have been at another sale instead. I did manage to find a few small things to buy, but in general the prices were way over retail. I highly recommend Myk-Beth, and I would use them again if I had the need to do so. They were professional, respectful and able to do a job that I was unable to do myself. I needed to help my mother downsize from a house to a much smaller apartment. Michael met me for an initial consultation where he explained the process fully and gave us an estimate on the items to be sold. He also pointed out and explained to us which items he felt might be difficult to sell or might need to be donated. We signed a clear and fair contract on the spot. Since I wanted to move my mother before the estate sale and we only had a few weeks before the house closing, I was very concerned about the timeline. Michael was able to schedule our sale on the weekend we needed and then arranged to clear out all junk and remaining items after the sale. I could tell from the photos on the website that he and his staff had done a considerable amount of work by going through all my mother's treasured Christmas ornaments and displaying them in collectible sets for the sale. He also had a knack for photographing items that would be collectible or in demand. After the sale, the entire house and carpets were professionally cleaned. They took care of the remaining items and the cleaning in just 2 1/2 days. Then Michael met my mother and I at the house for a walk-through, and everything was better than I could have hoped. Even the dreaded shed in the back yard filled with every nail my father ever found was cleared and swept clean. Michael had thoughtfully pulled aside some old photographs from the attic (which he also cleared for the sale) to make sure my mother didn't want them before discarding them for us. My mother and I both felt that Michael treated us and her home/things respectfully and kindly. He communicated with us and met all of our deadlines. We were unable to handle a job this size on our own. We didn't have the time, man-power or connections to try to sell her things on ourselves, and we are so grateful to Myk-Beth and Michael for helping us. We were satisfied with the money my mother made on the sale and pleased that Michael sold over 90% of her items, and we both felt that his services were worth every penny of the commission that was made on her sale as well as the additional fee charged for clearing out all the junk and unsold items as well as the cleaning that was done so that we didn't have to do anything before the house closing except hand over the keys. read more

I just returned from my FIRST visit to a Myk-Beth's estate sale. Unfortunately, what had started out to be a great experience ended with me determining I WILL NEVER visit an estate sale by MB. Why? I had purchased many items, especially, 1st edition books - note, the items had been paid for! MB allowed another visitor to go into my bag - as the area was under CONSTANT supervision by the Owner or another staff - never being left unattended. I informed him that my items had been STOLEN, and, questioned who else had purchased books. I noticed that my bag was lighter than when I stepped away. There were specific books I remembered PURCHASING. The Owner allowed the visitor, who I believe he had a "crush" on - you'll read between the lines & get it - take out my books and leave with them. When I apprised MB Owner of the situation, noting the specific books I was missing, I asked who else had purchased books. He LIED saying no one else had purchased books. Again, this was my first ever attendance of his sale, so when I pressed him about who else had bought books he said this: "You gather up what you have, and, go ahead and leave out of here." Note: He was animated and pointing his arm to the front door. Really - you make this kind of statement to someone who made their 1st ever visit to your estate sale. My books certainly didn't walk out on their own. Of note, it was ONLY myself & the other visitor who were buying books while I was there. CONCLUSION: Would definitely NOT RECOMMEND anyone visiting his estate sales, as you may find that he's given item you've PAID FOR to someone else - as, he did mine.... NO ETHICS! read more

I hired Mykbeth's Estate Sale company after the loss of my parents. They came out and went through the process and explained what we could expect. Mike Outen, the owner, was very upfront and transparent about the value of items and how much he expected to sell them for. My parents were not wealthy people but they did manage to acquire some nice items over the 50 years they were together. Mykbeth's team was able to sell everything in the house for very fair prices. I met each one of the employees and all of them were so caring and friendly. After the sale was complete, they came in and cleaned and painted so that we could immediately list the house for sale. I do not live in the same town so you can imagine how concerned I was about being absent during the sale. But Mike stayed in touch with me throughout the sale. I hired Michael, owner and Veteran (which he plays to the hilt) to assist me with my plans of downsizing my property. He was prompt and courteous while getting me roped in; I also called his references, which he gave me. Michael told me I could not be on the premises when he held the estate sale which was supposed to run Saturday and Sunday. My house was also being shown by a realtor and it was immaculately clean so no prep was needed to be done other than tagging the items. Because I was not allowed on the premises during the sale, two of my friends walked-through as if they were perspective buyers. Both told me that Michael and his teenage prodigy we're sitting on my couch watching my television while people were rummaging through my home, unattended and unsupervised! I was shocked to hear this! There were things that were sold, or were stolen from the front of my home that were not for sale. I say I'm not sure if they were stolen or sold because my so-called itemized sheet consisted of a list that said, things in the "garage" things in the "house" and the "shed." Nothing was Itemized. I had no way of knowing what was sold and for how much. The only exceptions were a couple of large items. Example; I had an antique clock that was over 230 years old that was valued at $3000, Michael sold it for $250.00! Heartbreaking! I made under $400 on the entire sale. I had to box filled with sterling silver and silver plated items, I don't know what I got for them, there was no so called itemized list for that(?)! He didn't put some of the large items back from where he got them originally. I had scrapes on my newly painted walls and when I questioned and asked Michael to please return and put the items back he did so grudgingly. My credenza was missing the little pads on the bottom of the legs which not only protect the floors but balance the furniture piece, it wobbled. I reached out to Michael again asking for him to fix the broken item. I was ignored and I never heard back from him. This sale took place in June 2016 and I have been steaming over the whole experience. I'm sure I will not be on his list of references! I'm advising you, don't use Myk-Beth estate sale, LLC. I will never ever use this business again the owner stole my table tote containers ,a clothing rack and sold my beautiful and very expensive hand made Bombay and table for pennies and when I asked why so low he told me that's all I could get, my he took out of my house over 400 items in clothes shoes boots hats all in mint condiction I,am talking about suede, leathers brand new boots shoes and clothes that I never wore I can't tell you what he sold or took my every piece of furniture was made for me and he sold them like the came from Ikea I feel like I have been rape I can't date him because there is no 0 ; the way he talked to me was horrible. I asked him over and over to price my things fairly but he kept telling me that's all you can get then turns around and tells me you didn't put a cap on the prices he also took out of my home over 125 rings in gold as well as a ton of silver I should have made 10,000 alone on my jewelry I can't say enough on how sad and heart broken after my sell I can't get back what was stolen I made it clear to him how I felt about my things that I worked hard for I didn't just put anything in my home and then Michael tells me about homes that were bigger and things better and cost more then my things as to say be lucky that you can sell and get anything for my property, I keep having panic attacks in my sleep I wake up like now grieving over my property I know he stole my hand made white mother of pearl Bombay because from the amount that he sold the dinning room table hall table and lamp all matched the Bombay it didn't add up and the sad part about it all is you can't prove it, I agree with the other lady that complained about this co.he talked his way out of that to me as well and the owner Michael still has not sent me the money for my property he stole from me and then when he sent my check he also sent Jewlry that I thought he had sold ,because he didn't tell me he had taken them out of my home they was to be sold here no one should use this co. Always putting a smile on my face and others. Myk beths and associates had been very helpful in location items and assisting when they're not with others. Mike always explain the policies of the sale before allowing people inside the sale. They all seen to love and enjoy what they are doing. We thought Michael made an excellent presentation, the set up and sales were handled professionally - Michael even made a separate trip to our house to assure me that he could and would handle difficult items. We moved out on Thursday, Michael and staff set up Friday, sales were handled Saturday and Sunday, Michael removed anything unsold, cleaned up and new owners moved in on Tuesday. Seamless. read more

Unfortunately you can't do zero stars. I would not hire this company again. They did not inventory the items in the estate sale, they did not categorize the sales, they did not provide sales receipts and they did not provide charitable donation receipts. In my opinion, they sold the remaining items in bulk for a ridiculous price. read more
