Gary is absolutely amazing. I was a little skeptical the first time I went to his at-home studio, being a woman and all, but Gary made me feel really comfortable and is not creepy at all! His at-home studio is really clean and comfortable and I instantly felt relaxed. At our first session he spent 10-15 minutes doing an intake and discussing massage options, my problem areas and the plan for the massage. I've now been to him twice and the second visit was even better than the first! He remembers all the details about your previous session and truly customizes the massage for what your body is in need of that day. I have multiple back and neck injuries that can cause my body to be like a board. Gary was receptive to my feedback but also could feel and figure out specific problem areas and then fix them. I was visiting DC to run the Marine Corps Marathon and I wanted a post-marathon massage to soothe my sore muscles. Very easy to contact via his website / email. We arranged to meet at his Arlington studio. I also asked him to arrange another therapist to massage my wife at the same time. His studio is not usually set up for that however he was very kind and accommodated us. Gary and Michael both greeted us at the door. Both were super nice and immediately made us feel right at home as if we were long time clients. Gary provided a perfect stretching and myofacial release massage which is just what I needed after pounding out 26.2 miles. He was easy to talk to and concerned with my level at comfort throughout the massage. My wife says her massage was relaxing and heavenly. I called Gary in a panic 4 hours before I wanted him to give an in-my-home massage. I'd never met him before, but I was desperate because another massage therapist canceled on me at the last minute. I had my first massage from Gary today. With massages, it's hard to stand out in a good way - Gary's massage did. He's the real deal. He mixes different forms of massage into a single massage, depending on what he thinks you needs. He lets you have your space and relax, but he is open to questions or requests. He uses a different technique each time, but always able to find those areas that are extra tense or stressed that need attention. And he will work them out, gradually, not forcefully. I've been going to Gary regularly for 6 months now and I can't recommend him enough. He is an experienced masseuse and his location in Arlington, 1-2 miles near the Rosslyn metro, is perfect for my needs. His availability also makes it easy to incorporate a regular massage into my busy work week. Gary's such a rare find since he's extremely professional, friendly, knowledgable, and effective. He has a room in his home that is dedicated for his massage services. His home is set up with a spa-like feel: modern, clean, welcoming, comfortable, easily accessible, and plenty of free parking around the building without time and day restrictions. I make my appointment arrangements via email and text since he responds very quickly. The massage is always effective. I am an active elementary teacher and I'm constantly on my feet, kneeling down to my students' level, and using all of my energy. It takes a toll on my body. I also practice yoga regularly. Gary can find my tense spots easily even if I'm not aware of them! He is able to give me relief as well as keep my athletic body in tip-top condition so I don't miss out on my yoga practice. I have never regretted carving out an hour of my time to get a massage from Gary and I always leave refreshed, rejuvenated, and often in a dreamlike state! He asks if there are any specific issues or areas in my body that I'd like him to focus on. I usually don't have any major issues to report, but he can tell what my body needs. I appreciate his attention to detail: the sheets are tucked in and they aren't wrinkly under or over me. The music, lights, temperature, and ambience are always just right. He uses a massaging oil that doesn't leave my skin oily so I can meet friends afterwards without having to freshen up at home first. Gary includes heated stones in his massage, whereas there's an extra charge at other massage locations. He also wipes off the massage oil from my back with heated damp towels. It's the little things that add up to make a unique and complete experience. Each massage is customized with the perfect amount of pressure. (I prefer strong to very strong pressure.) Gary also gives me the full hour vs. a 50 minute massage that other massage businesses offer. He schedules his clients intelligently so that I never feel rushed to leave. I should also mention that my health insurance reimburses my massages. It's worth calling your insurance company to take advantage of this valuable benefit. read more
