Been here a couple of times for breakfast while visiting family in the area. Adorable hometown diner, southern hospitality, it's like your aunties are making you a meal and pouring your coffee. You know it's good if you see the locals here.

Raisin on the left. Blueberry on the right. GO THERE!

One of the best places to grab breakfast or lunch in Poplar Bluff. I've been here countless times and never had a bad meal or service.

Excellent comfort food with lots of good veggies. We had the daily specialty "meat loaf". And homemade coconut cream pie

The non smoking is in the back and you do have to go through the smoking section to get there but its about twenty feet and not that bad.

It seems like a great spot for groups of friends and families, with a welcoming vibe. Our server, KK, was very friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The food was good, with generous portions that definitely gave us the energy we needed for the rest of our drive. The pork steak was a standout for me--well cooked and full of flavor. I also really enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, which were crispy and satisfying. All in all, The Fishin' Pig is a good place for a laid back, hearty meal.

1 Star -- Spoiled Burger and Very Concerning Response…read more My friend and I stopped at Fishin' Pig in Poplar Bluff for supper tonight around 5 PM. What started as an ordinary dinner turned into a very concerning food-safety experience. I ordered the Holy Cow Burger, and my friend ordered the brisket po boy with an extra order of fries. His sandwich did not seem to be brisket at all--it appeared to be pot roast and contained a huge piece of fat. He also never received the extra fries he ordered; the portion he received was no larger than mine. We had the missing fries removed from the bill. The much bigger problem was my burger. I immediately smelled that the meat was spoiled when it arrived. My friend smelled it as well. I took only a couple of very small bites and stopped eating it. I sent it back and, understandably, had completely lost my appetite and didn't order anything else. We told our waitress what was wrong. Unfortunately, she did not seem particularly concerned and mostly shrugged it off. It also appeared that the kitchen staff had not been made aware of the problem. Things became even more concerning afterward. My friend posted about our experience on Facebook, and the manager responded almost immediately. The manager then checked the burger meat in the kitchen and apparently discovered that the meat was indeed spoiled and disposed of all of it. That is a serious food-safety failure. I'm an older man, and spoiled food can potentially cause significant illness, especially for older customers and those with health conditions. The fact that management ultimately found the meat bad enough to discard it makes the situation even more troubling. An elderly couple was actually ordering burgers as we were leaving. I sincerely hope they noticed the odor and did not eat the same meat. Thankfully, I only consumed a couple of tiny bites. Hopefully that will spare me from any health consequences, but I shouldn't have to wonder whether a meal I ordered at a restaurant is going to make me sick. The food quality was poor, the extra fries were never delivered, and most importantly, spoiled meat was served to a customer. Even more troubling was the apparent lack of urgency when the problem was initially reported. Fishin' Pig needs to take this very seriously. Food safety isn't something a restaurant can afford to shrug off. I will not be returning, and I strongly recommend that management review its food-handling, inspection, and employee-reporting procedures.

The place is nice and modern looking/loud with the noise traveling all over like a noisy bar. The menu is good with something for everyone and we had a burger and country fried steak and I can only review the country fried steak. The service was that southern US slow but ok. I ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. The country fried steak was bigger than the average and hot from the fryer with a nice crispy crust. The steamed broccoli was slightly better than room temperature with a little crunch left in it and not total mush. The mashed potatoes were cold straight from the fridge for some reason like leftovers. My plate had chips on them that I would have thrown away in my kitchen. The water cup was a cheap plastic cup with a heavy a chlorinated taste in the water and not drinkable. Overall my lunch was disappointing for a restaurant with such a high number of reviews which I feel is fake compared to other restaurants in town.

I got the club and it was one of my favs off their menu so far. It was toasted and the cheese was perfectly melted-REALLY GOOD!! I just wish they had Diet Dr Pepper or Coke Zero but oh well I guess I shouldn't drink sodas anyways so not too big of a deal. The place is great inside, super clean and modern farmhouse vibes going on in here with home-made desserts that I have never tried.
