I was hopeful from the reviews but was shocked with how amazing the customer service was. Thomas, Ricky and Kevin all went above and beyond today taking care of my car and answering the 100 questions I tossed at them. Even after I paid and received my keys they took extra time to give me advice on maintenance and provided much needed education. These guys were so awesome and I will be coming here whenever I need any work done on my car!

I have 2 cars both were being serviced at Leon's and for regular service I liked them, good customer experience up front. However, I took my 95 Toyota Land Cruiser in with 2 issues a suspected fuel leak (we could smell fuel in the garage when you opened the door) and it was running rough, more so when it was cold. Leon's looked at these problems and said they could not find either one. About the same time I took my 2001 Subaru Outback to them about an overheating problem and the guy from the shop came back with a big list of repairs to fix the problem even though I told him this car was a car I was not going to pay lots of money to repair. So with no solution for either car I looked for and found a shop in Arcata. The Land Cruiser went in first. On the first day he dropped the fuel tank and found that the line to the emergency break had worn a hole in the top of the fuel tank and it was leaking. He fixed it and looked for the other problem, it took him a bit longer but not much and he found the number 5 spark plug cable was periodically arcing to the exhaust pipes. So here is the significance of that, Leon's let me drive the car out of there shop with an active fuel leek and an active ignition source should the fuel get close to it. I was not pleased. Then I took the Subaru to the same shop in Arcata and in less than a day he said he found the connector to one of the fans that go on when the radiator gets too hot was not securely connected. Infer what you want from this but one thing is for sure Leon's should have caught the loose connector. Both cars now seem to be running just fine. So why did I not rate them a 1? Well initially I rated them much higher. When I came here for oil changes and tuneups the customer service at the front desk was great and this is where most auto repair shops drop the ball. I assumed that the work in the back followed the same pattern, but this turned out to be a bad assumption. So they could be good for regular maintenance, but I would not go there for anything tricky.

Wayne installed my unusual front brake kit and it works beautifully. Ever since I bought my very heavy Ford F350, the brakes were always inadequate no matter what kind I got. I kept switching for 23 years without having decent brakes, and having to plan stopping my truck in advance like in the Fletch movie were Fletch had to plan ahead with his old Cadillac with bad brakes and start braking way early to slow down and then bump into a wall or solid object to actually stop . Wow..all I can say is wow! Yesterday I was getting gas at Renner and noticed my front tire…read morepressure warning light was on. I am aware Renner has an air/water station however it does not have a pressure gauge on it. Air pressure is a safety issue when riding a motorcycle which I was. After gas i pulled in front of the bay doors and saw the mechanic looking at me. I asked if I could get a squirt of air. He told me to go ask the person in the officeand he walked away. I walked into the office and spoke to a woman who acting as if I was bothering her. She referred me to Renner's air pump. Both people at this business are extremely rude and can't be bothered. I guess I won't be bothering to ever give them my business. It's sad as you would think a small business would have a better attitude to bring customers. I guess they don't want future customers .

They clipped the piece of molding back on for me, and didn't charge me. Since I had been here before, I also asked them to do another oil change. When I picked up the car from the oil change, there was a problem. The oil pressure light, and the check engine light were on. The oil level was good, so I took the car home, and then the following morning, I took the car into a separate shop for a second opinion on what was wrong When they ran the check engine light, it said that the oil pressure sensor was stuck. Apparently what had happened, was during the oil change, a prong from the oil filter had broken loose,, and it was blocking the oil pressure sensor. I went back to Firestone and spoke to the manager. I'm sorry I didn't write down his name He called over to the second shop where my car was, and the mechanic at the second shop explained in detail what had happened. Based on the situation and the explanation, the manager. At Firestone agreed to cover the cost of Getting my car fixed. The sensor situation was fixed with no out-of-pocket cost to myself. As I mentioned, I had been here for oil changes, quite a few times before, and nothing had ever happened. I get it, unfortunately, sometimes things happen. It's not that something happened, it's how the shop handled the situation. My truck broke the…read moreheater inlet connector on a Sunday and I had it towed to northbay's yard to be seen on Monday morning. They performed a thorough first inspection finding numerous issues that I already knew about and some that I didn't. They were very communicative about getting permission before performing services. When I declined services due to financial constraints they were very professional and understanding of the reasoning even going so far as to print out their reports and provide suggestions on repairs for me to perform myself. If my vehicle was not a project truck I would definitely consider bringing it in for repairs and may bring it back for diagnostics anyways. Their services are not cheap but you get what you pay for.
