Prior to leaving my previous hometown (Maryland) I had lightened my hair and dyed it fire engine…read morered. Much like any red color, by 8 weeks it had faded significantly. This was largely my fault for not using red shampoo like should've. Because of this I searched for a new salon to call home. Salon Bombshell popped up on my yelp search. I looked through their photos and website. I liked what I saw. What I liked even more was that they had the option to book online. I hate making phone calls so this was magnificent. I booked a consultation with Anna and excitingly waited for the day. I came prepared with my inspiration photo. Initially I wanted to color correct my red but decided I just wanted to play off of it more. After looking at my hair and the photo, Anna told me it was definitely achievable. The only color she couldn't promise was the yellow. I was good with that as long as the result was as close as it could be. We agreed on an appointment and I eagerly counted down the days. The day of Anna was running a bit behind but it wasn't an issue. I would wait all day if I had to. That's how excited I was. We were only delayed for a bit and then it was my turn. We first attempted to bleach my tips in hopes of lightening the faded red I had. Well, Pravana apparently bonds very well. The bleach barely had any effect. Well, plan b. She would add the colors as planned and we'd just skip the yellow. I was 100% ok with that since, you know, I knew the yellow wouldn't happen and my photo was really just an inspiration. Anna came up with a brilliant idea, though. She would dye a few tape in extensions yellow and add them in at a later date. Excellent! I booked another appointment to get that done. While waiting I messaged her asking if we could also do orange since that was part of the color palette I was looking to achieve. She agreed to it and I was thrilled. The day had arrived and I could barely contain my excitement. When the time came to take a look I was stunned. It. Was. Beautiful. My entire goal for my hair was to make it look like fire. She definitely hit the mark on that. The added extensions really worked well. I was so excited to show it off. Anna really worked some magic. If you're looking for a great stylist, I highly recommend Anna. She knows her stuff and was a pleasure to work with.

Stay Away. This…read moredeserves 0 Stars but since that isn't an option..... I have been seeing the same hairstylist for 17 years. She is the only person I (usually) let touch my hair because too many people have screwed it up in the past. After multiple, really great recommendations from family & friends, I went to Jessica yesterday for just a 3-4" cut to get the dead length off. I emphasized SO MUCH that it HAD to still have enough length to go into a full bun. Before I knew it, she had hacked at least 7 inches off the back of my head. It was well past my armpits & now it doesn't even touch the tops of my shoulders! I start to panic and she says "I guess I should have considered your hair is curly before I stretched the curls and cut." YOU EFFING THINK?! Curls BOUNCE UP! Hell even I know that! Then she tells me, "You know, I guess we just got to talking and we got distracted." WE?! No, you're the professional. It's YOUR JOB to pay attention. Look, I've had 2 major spinal surgeries in the last 3 years (with more in the future) & I'm forced to wear my hair up in a bun because my neck can't handle me trying to blow dry & flatiron my own hair. It takes 2 1/2 hours for me to do because of the thickness, frizz & natural curl) That absolutely destroys my neck & I lose all feeling in my hands and arms for days afterwards. I can get it professionally styled but I have so much hair that I'm charged $50-$75 PER blow-dry/flatiron appointment (that has to be done weekly) and I don't exactly have the extra funds to pay someone $250+ a month to do it professionally until this grows out!! I went in for a cut, not a brand new hairstyle. I don't understand how she let this happen except that she obviously does not know how to cut curly hair. That would have been nice to know beforehand... . I held in the tears as much as I could but I walked out sobbing and I haven't really stopped since. I'm devastated. She seemed like she felt bad but certainly not bad enough to not charge me. So now I get to live in hats for the foreseeable months (with this AWFUL 2" ponytail sticking straight out that I can't even wear high up at all because I don't have enough hair anymore) It's either that or I pull a Brittany Spears and shave my head and have the nervous breakdown I truly feel I deserve right now. As someone with chronic pain, all I wanted was to make life a little easier and now I get to live & deal with the exact opposite. Unreal.

I didn't ask her to, but she does it for any new client... she booked extra time for us, so she could take her time to listen and learn about my "hair history" before anything else. She is knowledgeable and described and recommended things for my hair that my former stylist (of 20 years) used to say!! She knows her stuff! Her price was extremely reasonable. I would definitely pay more for the kind of personal service I received from Laura. My before-and-after photos speak for themselves. My hair is healthy again, and I couldn't be more pleased! Thanks, Laura!

In May, I went to a local salon for a haircut. I wanted my long bangs trimmed just above my eyes…read moreand a simple trim to the length. When I saw the finished cut, I was honestly shocked; I looked like Dora the Explorer with a bad haircut! I went home hoping I could style it differently, but I knew only time would fix it. Six weeks later, I walked into True Color Hair. Everyone was busy, but they stopped to listen to my hair dilemma. Kailee was actually getting her own hair trimmed, and with her hair still wet, she got up to help me. She fixed the uneven cuts, explained what needed time to grow out, and gave me back confidence in my hair. When I asked the previous salon about highlights, I was told it would be a two-day process and almost impossible to achieve the results I wanted. I wasn't looking for a drastic change, just a subtle way to soften my very dark brown/black hair. Kailee listened, understood my vision, and completed my highlights in about five hours. She gave me exactly the beautiful, natural change I wanted. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Kailee and True Color Hair. She truly listens, cares, and works her magic. Honestly, I wanted to keep her all to myself, but that would be selfish. Everyone deserves to experience her talent and kindness!

I am never one to leave a good or bad review but my experience at True Color Salon needs to be…read moresaid! This is going to be a long one... I came across this salon through Instagram and was in need of a new hair colorist so decided to give this place a try. I made an appointment with Madison and filled out a questionnaire of what I was expecting for my hair and uploaded inspiration pictures along with photos of my current hair. I asked for the price and was told $265. I arrive to the appointment, (March 10, 2023) she asked me what I wanted and mentioned that I wanted to go lighter and want roots and also showed her a couple of photos of what i was wanting and went with my second choice because Madison mentioned the first photo was a process and the one we went with (inspiration photo posted) was more do-able. After a whopping 8 hours my hair was darker and no roots. I was reassured by Madison that my hair will become lighter the more I washed it and if I wasn't happy with the color I could go back in for a different shade of toner which I agreed. At check out my total came to the amount of $340 instead of the $265 previously quoted, but I didn't question the amount (because I don't like confrontation) so I paid, left $45 in tip and left. A few showers later (March 17, 2023), I contacted Madison to advise her that my hair color faded into a color that was not to my liking and that the bottom portion of my hair looked outgrown still and wanted her to go higher with lightener for more of a cohesive look rather than the harsh unblended line. Madison was understanding and scheduled me for her next available appointment, March 22, 2023. At that appointment she assessed my hair, asked me questions and proceeded with a treatment to remove any toner and/or buildup. Mentioned if the treatment didn't work she would have to go in with a different approach and would have to charge me (which I still don't understand why). The treatment worked, she blew dried my hair then started with the foils at the bottom as I requested and throughout the hair where she felt that she missed. She toned it and blew dry it to show me the final color and to show me that the bottom half of my hair looked "better". At the checkout counter Madison recommends a leave-in treatment because my hair was dry which I agreed to purchase considering the damage my hair sustained within a week and half, but mainly so I could leave a tip. My total came to $222!!! I was like what! You're charging me for a correction which she proceeds to tell me it isn't a correction because of the work she did to attempt to justify being charged again as if she just didn't do my hair the week prior and could of done the same work the first try. As mentioned, I don't like confrontations but there was NO WAY I was going to pay additional money for a CORRECTION. She calls the owner, Billy, which immediately tells me that I have to pay because it's over her 7 day policy. But I contacted Madison on the 7th day and not sooner only because I needed time to wash my hair to see if it'll lighten up like Madison mentioned it would. I showed Billy pictures of what my hair looked like before the correction and asked her if that looked like I just stepped out of the salon which didn't say yes or no but asked if I could pay at least half...Meanwhile Madison is defending her work stating that she left the bottom that way for definition and to get my hair the way I wanted is a process, regardless of her stating that she could get me to the 2nd inspirational picture I showed her at the initial consultation because the 1st inspirational picture was not doable in one sitting. She attempted to be demeaning and condescending with her 2 years of hair color experience as if I've never gotten my hair done before and not aware of how a cohesive and complete hair color looks like and how it could be done in 5 hours rather than the 14 hours spent at True Color Hair Salón to get nowhere near what was requested. After going back and forth between the three of us, Madison finally stated that it was fine that I didn't have to pay anything but not go back into their salon as if I did something wrong which didn't sit well with me so I am making sure to let any potential clients to stay away!! Especially from Madison, she has many many more years of hair and customer service experience to go. There is a reason why she has availability all day everyday, which was the red flag I should have not ignored. This is not how you run a successful hair salon and wouldn't be surprised if they go out of business treating paying customers that way. I am sooooo glad that that I didn't budge to the additional $222 they wanted to bamboozle me out of on top of the $340 already paid because my hair still looks like I need to go to the salon. See attached pictures to judge yourself.
