If there was six stars, I would have given them six stars. We recently hosted a marriage weekend for 75 couples. Although this is a Marriott hotel. It operates with the relational connection of a mom and Pop hotel. From the moment you walk in you know that this is more than a corporate setting. From the time you check into the time you check out, everyone goes beyond what they could possibly do to make your stay better. They're friendly. They remember who you are. And when there is a need, they scramble to meet it as quickly as possible. The managers, the executive staff are all walking around the hotel the whole time. They take their time to listen to you and they respond. The restaurant has created a menu that allows you to have a hamburger or a steak. So it becomes very affordable, especially breakfast during the week. On a recent trip, my wife had to be hospitalized. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us and give us information since we were not from Connecticut. They constantly were checking in to make sure everything was OK. If you're doing a corporate event don't even hesitate just sign up. If you're coming for a personal retreat. This stand alone hotel will give you the peace the quality that Marriott can only give. The , which is beautiful, the staff takes you being there seriously. Sure it cost more. But it's worth every penny. read more

Conveniently located near a highway & a 6 minute drive to Olde Mystic village. Parking lot offers alot of parking spots. Starbucks, a bar & a restaurant is located inside the hotel. Very friendly staff! I was here for 2 nights, for a 2 day conference. The continental breakfast & the lunch both days were great! I enjoyed the heated pool. An exercise room is also available. I am looking forward to coming back to town to visit some of the local shops nearby & would definitely make this my place to sleep! read more

This was a mediocre experience. Being a Titanium Elite member, my husband is usually thanked for dedication to the Marriott brand, but there was none of that. We were given vouchers for drinks and breakfast (I think everyone received those). Room was clean, but there were no tissues in the bathroom, and one of the elevators was broken. The pool area was disappointing, and there was no M Club or concierge open. Breakfast at the restaurant was chaotic. We gave our name, and they "missed" our name even though it was at the top of the list. They were way under staffed, very inefficient, voucher description was confusing & covered only basic items, buffet food was lukewarm, and we had to wait an extremely long time for our check (even after asking). And, even though we had late checkout, the cleaning staff came to the door at 10 having no clue. Disappointed! read more

I'm surprised this place only has a 3-star review. I don't know why... maybe it has something to do with the event center, or the meeting rooms? The hotel room was very nice. And the workout center was good. They even have an outdoor pool, and a nice spa! You can use the steamroom and sauna for $20 a day. The staff was friendly, there was ample (free) parking, and honestly, I don't have any complaints. I even shipped multiple packages to the hotel ahead of my stay, and they held them for me until I got there. If/when I'm back in Mystic, I would definitely stay here. So I gave it a good review , but the day we left I noticed that they charged me a $35 fee incase of any damages . I asked the front desk thought you charge the card unless there are damages and I was told that I would get my credit within 24 hours. Needless to say four months later, I still have not received my credit. I have called the front the front desk numerous times and have received different responses . I've called Accounts Payable at the Hotel and was told they will look into it and get back to me . Ive called corporate where they took my information and no one has ever got back to me. I stayed here on Saturday May 31st for a nearby wedding. I am Marriott Bonvoy member, for what it's worth. We had a huge bunch of family in various rooms. I booked a corner king and unfortunately wasn't able to check-in until after 4ish, when I was already at the wedding. I had requested an early check-in but it could not be accommodated. See attached photo where my text for the check-in is later than the expected 4pm time. The lobby is spacious, the bar is ample, there's a Starbucks and a restaurant too. The staff was very kind and welcoming including bartenders and check-in desk. I did not visit it but they also had a little store where you can get snacks, etc. The room was nice on the surface but worn down, especially the bathroom, where the sink faucet was loose as well as the shower one too. Water was hot though and it was a decent shower. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The elevators need sprucing up, as the wood paneling on the walls are scratched up, big time. read more

I stayed here for two days with my girlfriend while she was doing some off site training for work. The hotel was well decorated and very clean inside. In the main lobby there is a nice bar/restaurant and also a starbucks. The room was well decorated as well and very clean inside. The heat worked amazingly and the shower stayed hot for a long time. There was not much in the surrounding area and even though the hotel had a pool and fitness center I did not use them. read more

I've stayed here several times over the past five years or so, and never really felt the need to review as this location never really exceeded or fell below my expectations. My recent stay, I have observed some quite positive changes. The M club service has come back, and is Quite remarkable. The staffing there is been friendly and welcoming every single night. They have had interesting snack items every evening, and the only one I didn't try was the pigs in the blanket last night. They have also brought back breakfast in the elite lounge with fresh fruit and other typical breakfast foods. As I mentioned before the hotel portion, my room and common areas have always met my expectations of a proper Marriott property. Many properties used Covid as an excuse to cut back on some of the niceties, so kudos to the management and owners for bringing some of those things back to the property. I should also mention that the spa offerings look to be more than what has been there in the past. My separate review of the restaurant downstairs was quite positive as well. read more

I genuinely don't know how this place is allowed to operate. Multiple children -- yes, multiple -- stepped on something sharp in the pool. Cracked tile, rough edge, literal shards of glass in the pool? We wouldnt know because they didn't inspect or close the pool. And what was management's response? They charged me for a first aid kit. I wish that were a joke. Children bleeding in your pool and your solution is to bill the parents for first aid supplies? I have never experienced something so tone-deaf in hospitality. The front desk staff is the worst I've ever experienced. And that was just the beginning. The room was so loud it felt like we were sleeping inside a nightclub speaker. After complaining, we were "graciously offered" a downgrade. Not a comparable room. Not an upgrade for the inconvenience. A downgrade. As if the issue was that we expected relative quiet in our room. The only saving grace was Maintenance who apologized - front desk staff couldnt have cared less. This hotel manages to combine unsafe conditions with breathtaking indifference. No accountability. No urgency. No basic customer care. If you value your children's feet or a full night of sleep, stay literally anywhere else. read more

HUGE SAFETY CONCERN!! I want to share our unfortunate stay experience and the lack of security at this location. They do NOT have cameras in the halls. Repeat NO security cameras in the halls for your safety! Anything that happens at or around your room, there will be no proof of other than key card records. On the evening of Thursday 8/14 as we were leaving for dinner I stopped at the front desk to request our room get serviced. Housekeeping was a struggle our 3 days prior, front desk said they were understaffed with only 1 person there but our room really needed fresh linens and enough towels for our family of four as we were hanging and sharing 2, not really acceptable but I was trying to be understanding. Our room was accessed by someone on the evening of 8/14 at 5:58pm after we departed for the evening. Our door was left unlocked, open with the lock mechanism in place leaving our room fully exposed to the entire floor for hours until we arrived back at the room a little after 10pm. Marriott is telling us that they did NOT access our room as their key card report shows a guest key card was used to gain entry. But towels were changed in the bathroom and 2 sets of clean sheets were left folded in a pile on the bottom corner of the bed. All dirty items remained in our room, the room shows all indications that someone from their staff or housekeeping entered our room with a guest key card although it was never finished. Our room was left opened from this point on until we arrived back to settle in for the evening. To our dismay upon speaking with staff and the manager, the hotel cannot tell us much more because there are NO camera in the halls. They do not know who entered our room, or any activity around our room after the 5:58pm access point. They won't even acknowledge that it was their staff that enter our room. Even with clear indication. I have talked with multiple staff from this location and the most anyone will say is "they are sorry please let us know if any of your items are missing". They will not acknowledge it was their staff that gained access to our room and have lacked all concerns of our safety! read more

Hotel: We arrived around 10pm on a Thursday after a long day, including a baseball game for my son. Thankfully, mobile check-in was smooth, and we received our room assignment while still on the road. The hotel feels somewhat isolated--tucked away in what seems like the middle of nowhere--but it makes a strong first impression with a grand, welcoming front entrance. Inside, the front desk sits to the left and a bustling bar/lounge area to the right. For a Thursday night, the lounge was unexpectedly busy and quite loud. Still, the front desk staff was friendly and helpful. We grabbed a luggage cart and unloaded while my husband parked in the self-parking lot. Room: We stayed in a guest room with two queen beds on the 5th floor, just a few rooms from the elevator and ice machine--though we couldn't hear either from inside, which was a big plus. The room was spacious enough for 3-4 kids to play knee hockey, making it great for traveling sports families. Beds were clean and comfortable. Our window looked out over a flat roof and some woods--quiet, though not much of a view. The closet by the entry was large enough to hold a small stroller and hard-sided luggage. The mini-fridge was average Marriott size and worked well. HVAC worked without issue. The bathroom was clean with a tub/shower combo--convenient for families with small children. It lacked towel hooks, which was a small inconvenience, but the hot water got very hot (great for a scalding shower if that's your thing). Pool & Gym: The gym felt a bit dated with older equipment, but the pool was the real standout. It's a large L-shaped pool--perfect for team stays or sports group blocks--and they keep it nice and warm. We arrived right at opening (8:30am) and saw them pulling the robotic pool vacuum out, so cleanliness is clearly a priority. The pool area had three large skylights and big windows, filling the space with natural light. I appreciated that it was warm but not sweltering for spectators. The pool depth ranged from 3 to 5 feet, which allowed smaller kids to safely enjoy jumping in. Plenty of towels were stocked on the shelf, so running out didn't seem to be a concern. Bathrooms are located right outside the pool/gym entrance. Overall: We had a positive experience. All staff were friendly, the room was clean and quiet, and the pool makes this a great option for sports families. I went recently to the coffee shop inside the Mystic Marriott, now referred to as Proudly Serves (Starbucks). Coffee is still amazing as always, and the baristas know what they are doing. I love an iced coffee with almond milk, and caramel drizzle. Simple but delectable. Eli is fast paced and a friendly face, both you could never go wrong with. I do miss my normal Tuesday morning too-early-to-be-human barista Anneliese. She'd always write words of encouragement on my iced coffee, and I cannot express how much her warmth meant to me. I'm a little shocked about some of the low reviews. This place is quite opulent, clean, and professionally staffed. Only knocks are the cashless vending machines and the automatic 15% on any size check in the restaurant. I normally tip way over 20%. Is this management bogarting server tips to help pay everyone's wages? This has been happening at major Vegas hotels for decades. Chose this place due to it being a 20 minute drive from mystic, mohegan sun and Foxwoods (didn't stay at casinos due to ridiculous prices that weekend). Prices for this place were average.... I thought the fee for staying past checkout was ridiculous... $650! Not that I'm the type to miss checkout but still I think that's high! Didn't utilize pool, spa or restaurant. Starbucks was good. Hotel room itself was clean, enough towels provided. Shower pressure wasn't that strong but did the job haha. Walls are PAPER THIN in this hotel! Heard every door slam, conversation, etc. Would I go back? Yes. Convenient to main roads and cute places! read more

Huge disappointment. We came to the conference with many others attendees. The conference started at 9am, so we asked if there are any room available so we could leave our luggage and were quicky told " No". It all started off like that. After the conference we went to casino for few hours and upon arrival back to the hotel (it was around 11pm), there was a light around our TV that we couldn't find a switch to turn off. All night we were up, because it was so bright in the room and covering face with the blanket - was not an option. The bed has very hard pillows. The hotel is not offering breakfast, and really doesn't have an extended hours before check out. Our conference lasted until almost 3pm. We wanted to check out around 2pm, but were not allowed. We were told that we must check out no later than noon time. Lastly, my husband was in the shower at 8am. The door had a sign hanged outside (dont' disturb). However, the housekeeper walked in ignoring the sign. My husband had to jump out of the shower, but the door got quickly closed. The noise in the morning walked him up. The started vacuuming early around 8am and if someone wants to rest - the noise is very laud and it will wake you up. When complaints were communicated to the management, the answer was: "Oh, well.". Lastly, my credit card that was supposed to be charged $205. (corporate rate) for which i have a print out was charged $235.00 When I called the hotel asking about extra charge - I was told it is "security deposit per night" - you will get it back in a 24-48 hours. Nobody ever notified me previously about nightly security deposit that will be charged on top of the ongoing rate. We felt being ripped off by Marriot, we felt being disrespected and violated for privacy overall. read more

I was in Mystic for a weekend getaway. I wasn't expecting much from this hotel, but it totally got the job done. Check-in wasn't too bad and I got a room pretty distant from the elevator. The room was fine, nothing amazing. However, it was clean and amply-supplied, which is what I cared for the most. The rooms was quiet and I didn't hear much while sleeping. I only stayed for a night, so I can't comment on housekeeping. However, in the days of COVID, you shouldn't expect daily housekeeping, unless you specifically call for it. The breakfast was not too bad, though the wait for it (and we had reservations) was unacceptably long. The omelet chef was helpful and friendly. There are the usual savory hot breakfast items (think eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes), some generic-looking baked goods, cold breakfast fare (cereal, fruit and yogurt) and a waffle station. A late checkout on a Sunday resulted in a very quiet afternoon at the hotel. Since the café and the restaurant were closed during the afternoon, and no one had checked in yet, the lobby was really dead. read more

Stayed here two nights and was pleasantly surprised by this hotel since I had read several negative reviews. The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially the bartender Olivia who makes a great spicy margarita and was so kind and thoughtful. I was in a double queen room (445) and it was quiet, clean, and the decor was updated. I agree that the beds are a bit short but they were comfortable and I slept quite well. If you bring a water bottle you can refill it in the gym on the first floor. Plenty of free parking. The lobby is quite nice and has a lot of seating. The Mystic Marriott is right off the highway and minutes by car to downtown Mystic where there are many excellent restaurants. read more

The front desk was also fell below expectations. In particular, the front desk manager who doesn't seem to know she works in the hospitality business. The mystic Marriott hotel was a pretty nice hotel. We had a room with two beds and everything seemed fairly clean. The shower was a tub/shower combo and did not drain very well. The water was building up a lot during the shower and it was kind of gross. Check in/out was seamless and the lobby was really nice. They had a lot of events going on there so it was quite busy. The location of this hotel is great. The accommodations are comfortable, and the rooms are nice. However, housekeeping is a significant issue. We stayed for three nights. On the first night, we made sure they knew we wanted housekeeping for the next day. When we returned around 10 PM, the room had not been serviced. The next day, in addition to informing the front desk, we also spoke to the housekeeper in the hallway, letting her know that we needed fresh towels and for the trash cans to be emptied. When we returned to the room at 9 PM, it had been serviced, but it was evident that the housekeeping staff had rushed. The towels were carelessly thrown around, as if the housekeeper was either in a hurry or in a bad mood. If the hotel can improve its housekeeping services, it could easily raise its rating from 2 stars to 4. read more

My only negative - We used to LOVE and look forward to dining at the on premise Octagon Steakhouse, now recently changed name to Helmsman The Helmsman was disappointing, so much so that when we return we will choose to eat somewhere else. I don't recommend this hotel. They have bugs which are likely bed bugs. They charge an additional $25/ day because it is supposedly a resort. Windows don't look clean. I saw a dead rat around the outside of the building. Not a great experience and now I have to go home and deal with bed bugs. read more

The Mystic Marriott Hotel fails at the most basic function of a hotel: providing a good night sleep. I went to Mystic because I needed a restful break for two nights, and instead I lost a lot of sleep due to the hotel's unprofessional management practices. On check in, I met with two hotel staff members behind the front desk, one of whom seemed to be in the midst of some sort of personally taxing issue (not sure what, but he has my sympathy) the other of whom acted in a professional way within the bounds allowed to her by the hotel's unprofessional management. I explained to her that I have a sleep disorder and my sleep cycle is substantially delayed, so I would like to make use of the "Guaranteed 4 p.m. late checkout" given to people with Marriott Bonvoy platinum elite status or higher, which I have (titanium elite) and I did. This was three days before my departure date. I was told by this front desk staff member that the 4pm late check out is only available "subject to availability" but she would ask her manager the following day on my behalf. I pointed out that, as per the Marriott's coporate policy displayed on the website, the language regarding late check outs as "subject to availability" is found only in the benefits for "gold elite" and lower, and "Guaranteed 4 p.m late check out" is spelled out explicitly for "platinum elite" and higher Marriott Bonvoy members. I noted, further, that while the "Guaranteed 4 p.m late check out" carries a loophole on the Marriott hotel website for resort and convention hotels, the Mystic Marriott is not classified as a resort or convention hotel on the Marriott hotel directory, so it cannot make use of this loophole. I was told by the front desk employee that they would not honor the Marriott corporate policy used to advertise their hotel - which amounts to false advertising - but would request a 4pm check out from the general manager the following day. I explained that the entire reason for my continued loyalty to the Marriott brand was this single benefit, and whether the late check out request was honored, given my sleep disorder and the fact that I was only in Mystic to rest, would decisively determine my evaluation of the hotel. I was assured that this would be communicated to the general manager. This hotel benefits from the Marriott bonvoy brand, but it refuses to follow Marriott policies for guests - benefitting from false representation. I then found that this problem was severely compounded by the hotel's inadquate air conditioning. I did not sleep the first night of my stay because the air conditioning would not adequately cool the room. This hotel advertises air conditioning, but it is only nominally air conditioned. This hotel uses verdant thermostats that are programmed to display a falsely low temperature, deceiving guests for the sake of saving money. While this is a common way for cheaper hotels to cut corners when they don't care about customer retention or presume that their customers are stupid, the gap between the displayed temperature and actual temperature was egregious even by cheap hotel standards, let alone a mid-market hotel. This was made even more obnoxious by the fact that the thermostat was programmed to prevent an occupant from using the continuous fan function, all while falsely displaying the continuous fan function on. This can be overridden by the engineering staff. I explained the situation to the front desk staff, emphasizing that I *really* needed to get a cold temperature to sleep well. They were reasonably professional, which I appreciated. They reported that their engineering team had gone home, but would override the 'energy saving' setting the following day. This didn't happen. No engineer came the following day, and no manager was contacted to review the late check out request because the manager did not show up that day, according to the front desk staff. So, I slept badly a second night. This was very frustrating, but I was assured by a new set of front desk staff the following night that they would contact the manager the following day to request the late check out, so I could at least catch up on sleep. The late check out was not honored and I was woken by hotel cleaning staff, getting only a couple of hours of low-quality sleep. Perhaps you do not have the same needs that I do for a hotel, so these problems might not bother you. Given that the Marriott Mystic is dishonest with customers about its features, consider that anything else that is important to you when booking a hotel might not be available should you book the Marriot Mystic. A wasted weekend that left me much more exhausted than when I arrived, not even due to the physical features of the hotel, but the dishonest management's policies. read more

We were in Mystic for a short weekend getaway. The prices at all the hotels around the area were roughly the same, and I do have Marriott loyalty, so we opted for this one. Pros: 1. Check-in was completely done via the Marriott app and we never spoke to a single person. Amazing. 2. Mobile key was used to get into the room, so again, we didn't have to stop at the desk to wait in line and check in. 3. Check-out was also completely via the app, so we didn't have to wait in line at the end of our trip to check out. 4. You can control the TV via QR code scanned on your app, so you don't have to touch a gross remote control that everyone's touched. 5. Bathroom was great with a shower head and removable shower wand. I LOVE shower wands. Cons: 1. The room was kind of cold and when we turned on the heat, the AC system spewed hot air that was kind of musty smelly? We turned off the heat because I didn't like the smell. 2. You can hear all your neighbors opening and closing their doors 3. Check out is at 11am, which I feel is a bit on the early side All in all, a great stay at the Mystic Marriott. No complaints here. read more

Hands down the worst Marriot I have visited. Hair on the pillows, sheets and towels, drool stains on the pillows, there was either blood or fecal matter on the duvet cover. Obviously we did not spend the night and put a huge damper on our anniversary. To make matters worse, the manager Michelle B stopped responding to my request for a refund. Bed bugs! Stayed early Oct one night and also suspected bed bugs (very visible blood stained mattress cover in corner and weird stains on wall) but hotel said they had their inspection and none were found. Had to call several times after reporting to get update and they seem to brush it off. I tried asking for bed bug inspection report from manager Cynthia but didn't get a response. Not sure if this Marriott is taking bed bug remediation seriously. The mattress cover and wall looked like infestation has been for some time, not sure how housekeeping missed this? read more

From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted by some of the warmest front desk personnel I've ever encountered. As a former Disney employee I am well aware of what excellent customer service should be. The staff of this hotel go above and beyond to make each guest feel like a VIP. The first encounter was with Jesse at the front desk. It was like seeing a cousin I hadn't seen in a long time. She was funny, talkative, and extremely friendly. I knew right away this was going to be a great vacation! Working alongside Jesse was Christine who greeted me by name each day of our stay and always made me feel that she was about to jump over the counter and hug me . Breakfast at the hotel restaurant made us just want to eat and then go back upstairs to sleep. (If you know what the ITIS is, I promise you you'll get it here) The breakfast buffet is AHH-MAAYY-ZING!! Annie cooked one of the most delicious omelettes I'd had in a long time. We also had the pleasure of meeting Sandra, who our family really wanted to take home with us. She is THE waitress of all waitresses. What a wonderfully welcoming spirit she has. And you know what? Day after day, she treated us exactly the same warm and welcoming way. She seems to treat everyone like a VIP, clearing the tables as you're eating, and making sure that you have absolutely everything you need to make your experience a good one. Literally from start to finish she just kept checking in on us. There was another gentleman, Len, who is just about the nicest guy you'll ever meet anywhere. He showed me how to make the perfect waffle and made sure I found everything that I was looking for to take back to our table. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was delicious too. I particularly enjoyed the fish and chips! I really couldn't say one bad thing about this hotel. The cleaning staff were extremely friendly and took great care of our rooms. This was a very last minute mini vacation for us, but it worked out perfectly. I'll never stay anywhere else in this area but here. I feel like I have family in Mystic at the Marriott. We stayed here while in town for the weekend visiting the Aquarium. It's about a 5 min drive from Aquarium, and about 8 minutes to the Cross Sound Ferry. Convenient location for us. Nice and clean. Had dinner at the restaurant on ground floor, Octagon. And the indoor pool was great - tip- you need to make a pool reservation at front desk. There's a buffet breakfast in the morning. Food selection was decent, coffee was bad. But they have a Starbucks on site. Overall good choice for the area. read more

Beautiful place, if you like nice and quite definitely go for it. We was asked to lower down our tv around 10pm. House keeping definitely sucks. 2 days out of our 3 night stay they didn't come when we clearly requested for house keeping. They left us 1 toilet paper on our last night. read more

I had a confirmed suite with an email confirmation and yet the 20 something front desk did not give us one. Clearly this place hasn't even earned the 3 stars from yelp. I was told of a steak house restaurant. I will include a picture. I have been in better hospital cafeterias. They are understaffed and the employees admit it. What a let down. So much promising and so much underdelivering. Not the hotel they lead you to believe they are. Not a "resort and spa". The pictures of the "steak house" don't lie. Wish I hadn't booked 5 nights Hopefully you learn from the issues we have had. If management reads this, you should be better than this . read more
