I really like this hotel! I stayed for three nights while in town for work. The room was clean, the fitness center was super nice, the staff was helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was great-I am a big fan of the western omelettes. They also have fresh fruit-oranges, apples, and bananas. The Applebees is within walking distance, which was convenient. I forgot to grab photos, but the king room I was in had a fridge and microwave. Thanks for the great stay. read more

Very disappointing stay overall. The hotel looks completely different in person than it does in the pictures online. From the outside it seems acceptable, but inside the property felt extremely old, poorly maintained, and neglected. There were damaged walls, ceilings in bad condition, carpet coming loose in several areas creating a tripping hazard, and a strong unpleasant smell in the pool area that was very difficult to tolerate. The breakfast was also very poor. I also did not feel the situation involving my service dog was handled professionally or with much understanding, which was especially disappointing. The overall atmosphere of the hotel honestly felt uncomfortable and poorly maintained. I normally do not like leaving negative reviews, but I believe future guests deserve an honest description of the experience before booking. read more

The hotel and common areas were clean, the room was nice. The hospitality industry has certainly changed since Covid. Of the five front desk staff members that I interacted with during our weekend stay, two were pleasant and helpful and one of them was the person checking me out. One man was on his phone and/or the computer with his earbud in and appeared to be put out when asked assistance. The other man spent a - good amount of his rime outside smoking in the pick up area in front of the building. One woman sat in the guest chairs in the lobby playing on her phone. There was a stand with sanitizing wipes for guests-it sat empty all weekend. They aren't required and if you don't have them, put the stand away. The elevators-it was obvious that only one of them worked, the one that did made sounds that made one question it's safety. The toilet ran-had to constantly jiggle the handle to make it stop. No room service-you can ask for something. The breakfast was ok. Typical items. No protein without dairy ( tons of cheese) and the bacon was greasy-yes I realize it's bacon. There was coffee and tea always in the lobby and the room did have a microwave and fridge-that was nice. Overall-I didn't feel that there was value in my Dollars spent there. It's a good place to stay if you have low expectations. We chose Hampton Inn because of the pricing and proximity to Mystic, being close without paying an arm and a leg to stay in Mystic. Free parking and free breakfast are a huge bonus. It's an older hotel and you can sense it upon arrival. Check-in was smooth. The digital key card didn't work on the app. The room is modern yet older. Everything worked but you see the wear and tear. I was disappointed the window wasn't larger. It was only one corner of the room so it was dim. The floor was beaten and old, pieces were missing. Bathroom was okay. The bed frame on the bottom is metal so be cautious as my kids hurt themselves on it. Pillows are hit or miss. One pillow wasn't even a pillow anymore but more like a sheet with cotton. TV is older and not internet capable. Work desk is awkward because if you have the air on, it blows directly on you. If you're room has a connecting door, you can hear the guests next door clearly if they stand by the door. The breakfast was the best part. There is a variety and plenty of choices in a small room. Food was constantly being brought out. There was cereal, waffle maker, hot foods like sausage, potatoes, omelets, pancakes, different juices, bagels and muffins. Great selection and kept us full for our day of adventure. The elevator was out of service one evening so we had to climb the stairs but it wasn't too bad because we're used to stairs. This Hampton Inn was the best one that we stayed in throughout our New England trip. They served a hot breakfast. There were a couple options each morning, and you told the employee what you would like and they would give it to you in a to-go container. You could eat the food at either the tables, or back at your room. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. I deducted a star because the male employee who works nights and overnights is not helpful and didn't seem to know anything that all other hotel employees know and should know to provide a better experience for their guests. He didn't even know what kind of breakfast was served. When I went to the lobby to make a phone call, he was watching something on his phone, and then a couple times came over to the area where I was sitting and watched the baseball game that was on the television. We recently stayed here (7/9-13/2025) and have been staying in Hampton Inns for decades, from FL thru CT and this by far is worst we've ever stayed in. The room was nice (double beds), ample towels and only thing wrong was there was no lotion in rooms. We didn't like how A/C cuts off when room not occupied (motion sensors) and is hot when we returned. Also hallways in Summer don't seem to be cooled or very limited vents. The hallways were hot and lots of small pieces of trash all over. Hotel was quiet and ample parking. This said, the front desk people were not friendly at all and woman "supposedly" attending to breakfast area was not nice and was lazy. Foods were not monitored for fullness and if you asked for something well, you'd get a "how dare you disturb me look", she spent more time eating and drinking than doing her job. The breakfast area was only good 1 (Thurs 7/10) out of 4 days. They literally ran out of many items on food bar so, sub par breakfast. We've always stayed at Mystic Hampton but, Groton was a good bit cheaper this trip and we will NEVER stay here again. Just glad there is another option of Hampton Inns in the area which, is well worth the extra expense. Love Hampton Inns but, pass over this one. read more

This was an overnight stay to attend an event; I didn't have breakfast or use the pool or other amenities. The desk staff were very friendly and helpful; they're the reason for the third star. The lobby was neat, but furnishings were grubby and worn. My room was clean-ish; stains and wear on the chairs kept me sitting on the bed. I had stayed at this hotel several times in a 5 month period. Overall, this was an OK property. I struggled with housekeeping only providing a single washcloth, the front desk staff smoking right in front of the front door, the staff not wearing name tags, and the elevator showing a Certificate that expired. But, it was close to work, so I stayed. In early January, I stayed another time. On my first morning, I saw a bug crawling on my bed. I trapped it and brought it downstairs, giving it to the gentleman at the front desk, and asking for a different room. I thought it was a tick, so did nothing else other than change rooms. When I left for work, I saw the front desk person showing the bug to a woman. After seeing an article on bed bugs yesterday, I checked my photo and, sure enough, it was a bed bug not a tick. The hotel had to know I had been in a room with bed bugs and should have told me. Them simply moving me rooms meant the infestation could have spread to the other room, and I could have brought them home with me. I believe this is a disrespectful way to treat guests. We were in Groton for a war at the shore weekend long baseball tournament and the entire team booked 3 days at this hotel at a special rate of $199/night. While the baseball schedule was assigned to not have a Monday game, we basically are wasting a night for Sunday. If we cancelled the Sunday night, we would be charged the regular rate of $250/night...so basically was forced to stay the 3rd night. Staff was very friendly, and rooms were nicely renovated. Aside from my wife getting locked in the bathroom due to the sliding door design, it was an ok stay. They should design the door better. If the sliding door is closed too far where it comes off the floor guide, it'll get lodged in between the wall and the floor guide. If she was alone in the bathroom, she would be stuck for hours banging and screaming for help. We notified the front desk, sent a maintenance guy up and worked on it for a while. So we checked out...they didn't do anything...nothing for our inconvenience. So much for hospitality! To add insult to injury, they over charged me $102!! What a terrible hotel!!! I normally enjoy staying at Hampton Inn's but this place is is NOT the norm. I reserved a room 2 weeks in advance. I requested a room far away from the elevator and in the quietest spot. I needed to be sleeping by 8:00 PM to be up by 3:30 for a class that I was attending. Arrived at 5:00 pm to the hell I endured. My room was 111 next to the party room. Loud music, dancing and people in the hall screaming. When I confronted Manuel the night manager he treated me terribly saying the party booked the room only days ago. I said please move my room and he said NO. I asked to speak to the general manager meesha, no response. So no service, no respect and still I paid a premium......never again. Stay away read more

While this hotel has many amenities, it is really over priced for the quality. The beds are less than mediocre (kind of stuff and old). The pillows really don't cut it for me. I'm used to the marriott selection of pillows (firm, soft, etc.). To me the pillows make all of the difference and these pillows appear fluffy but don't actually cushion your head. Your head will still be on the mattress. Not to mention the rooms look super out of date. Floral couch/camo maroon from the 90s , fake cherry oak furniture, brass lighting fixtures, yellow stucco wall, etc. Oh btw, I stayed in two different rooms during my stay and both smelled like mold. (I had to extend my reservation for work) Also, last but not least, the furry creepy crawly found in my room. After returning back from work one evening, I plopped in bed and began watching tv when I noticed that something on the ceiling was moving. I look up and it's a 2-3" long House Centipede. While it's awesome that this meant no spiders, I would prefer spiders over this thing (big, a billion legs, somewhat furry, yellow markings, fast, etc). After being terrified for about 10 minutes and being tortured by it scurrying around on the ceiling above me, I finally mustered up the nerve to capture it in a cup and murder it in the toilette. (You're welcome future hampton inn residents) I cannot guarantee that was the only one though *shiver* However, the pros of this hotel are the free breakfast in the mornings, the simple dinner on the weekdays, and cookies in the afternoon. Also to note, The towels are probably slightly less than mediocre and the shampoos/soaps were about average. The "high speed internet" is your typical internet from a hotel and by no means high speed for 2014. About 1mbs download and 0.75 mbs upload, normal ping. read more

We loved this hotel! It was very clean for starters. The room felt spacious and was supremely well laid out. There was plenty of space in the bathroom for our toiletries and lots of thoughtfully laid out charging stations and docks for our electronics. There was s refrigerator and a microwave. Breakfast was good enough to satisfy most tastes, not just a continental breakfast. There is fruit available on the lobby all day long and a nice assortment of reasonably priced sweet and salty snacks with coffee tea or hot chocolate also available . We were in the area with no real plan. We were spending 10 days driving around CT. We decided to call it a night in the area. Originally were going to try the Mystic Hampton Inn but the price was so high. We read the reviews for this one and were a bit worried but it was one night and how bad could it be. Hampton Inns are pretty standard. The woman at the front desk here was so friendly. I wish I had caught her name. And older woman that works nights. She was so engaged and helpful. One of the best we have run into in awhile. Now it is true the lobby has been remodeled and the rooms have not. However, the rooms are not bad at all. We were in room 224 by the laundry and I was afraid we would be woken in the morning but that was not an issue at all. The standard white bed and hot breakfast. The Wifi had a decent speed. The room had a refrigerator and microwave. We were staying in a low season during the week but the entire hotel was very quiet. It is very close to Mystic and for the dollar savings this hotel is worth it. If back in the area we would stay here again. read more

The refurb on this property, is so tasteful and relaxing. That's always a must. But this particular Hampton, has one of the best hotel staffs , I've ever run across. The second night, I was awaken by itching and small bites all over my legs. Barely slept the rest of the night. Thank God they had a couch there because that's where my boyfriend and I ended up sleeping for a few hours. When we checked out, I told the front desk person and he told me no that's not possible, it couldn't be bed bugs. He was very nonchalant and showed no concerns so I asked for the number to corporate and he said the corporate number is on the site. Not helpful at all. After spending an unnecessary $434.72, I was very disappointed and wish he would have taken into consideration what I had experienced. read more

Hampton Inn Groton CT. I like this location because it is about 10 minutes from Mystic CT and 20 minutes from Mohegan Sun Casino. They have a shuttle from the hotel to the casino $25 a couple round trip so you can enjoy those free drinks and not worry about the drive back. Usually whenever I travel I try and stay at Hampton Inn's. This particular one is very outdated in the rooms. There is a flower couch that seems like it's from the early 1900's, old lamps, the office desk looks like it might tip over and be on its last leg. I wanted to stay at the Hampton in mystic. But was more expensive. The staff was friendly at check in. My room got cleaned nice for my second night. But I probably will not come back here unless they update their rooms. read more

Beware of booking through third company websites such as Kayak, getaroom.com, etc... I statyed for 4 nights while visiting Groton. I booked through getaroom.com and was charged for the room in advance. When I arrived after a very long flight the desk person told me that I needed the credit card to verify payment. I didn't have that credit card that I used initially when booking through getaroom.com and was told that I needed a credit card to put on file- just in case- so I trustingly gave them another credit card so that they would have one on file. After explaining several times that I did not want the card that I gave them charged- they assured me that they would not charge this card-they went ahead and charged it anyways! So when I got the statements for both cards I was double charged! After several attempts calling both the Hotel and getaroom.com- NO ONE will credit me- Hampton Inn claims that they were not compensated for the room and getaroom.com keeps pointing the finger at Hampton Inn. The point in case- NEVER give a credit card when you already paid through a onsite travel agency. *OH- did I mention that when I got into my room the heater would not shut off in that room so I went down to the front desk to change rooms- when I was telling the desk person about the problem the maid overheard me and went up to my room and entered to 'check it out' when I clearly had a DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door knob. I found this out when entering my room because she fiddled with the heater. I changed rooms and went back down to the front desk where I told her that the maid entered with my DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door knob and she responded- "ITS OK SHES THE HEAD MAID, YOU HAVE NO WORRIES!" Really?!! No no no! That is not OK I said. I am moving back to Groton and I will definately follow up and contact Navy Federal to let them know as well. By far the least pleasant Hampton Inn I've ever stayed at. First off, this hotel is a sister hotel to the nearby Hilton Garden Inn but you will find none of the Hilton's luxury, charm or cleanliness. Our room was dirty. When I mean dirty, I don't mean like "I'm an obsessive cleaner who can spot a dirt a mile away" dirty. I mean the bathroom was disgusting. The toilet bowl and the toilet seat were dirty, the shower walls looked as though they hadn't been scrubbed in a month, the room had a faint mildew smell and there were cobwebs all over the lamps. The entire hotel seems a bit run down and outdated. But that's not all. At the front desk you will find a plaque attached to the desk with a guarantee that you will be refunded if you did not enjoy your stay. We brought our unpleasant stay up with an unpleasant young man at the front desk who quite reluctantly offered us a free dinner at the Hilton, which we had decided to switch to, but no offer for a refunded room price. When we had finally had enough, we switched to the Hilton and left promptly at 6am for the Hilton, who kindly, upon hearing our plight, let us check in early. As I was checking out, I brought up the plaque and the room guarantee, after which I was (again RELUCTANTLY) offered to have ONE of the nights removed from the bill. Only one. Not both. We took it and left like a bat out of hell from this nightmare hotel. Upon leaving, we discovered that in our rush that we accidentally left behind a garment bag with a very expensive jacket inside. We called and were told to call back the next day to talk to housekeeping. We did. We were told to wait and they'd call. They didn't. We called again and were told they hadn't found anything. We offered to file a police report. Suddenly, as if by magic, the garment bag was found in a matter of minutes. STAY AWAY from this place and shell out the few extra dollars for the Hilton Garden Inn. This sister hotel is more like an evil twin in comparison to the Hilton. read more
