The Air BNB reviews of this place much differ than the yelp reviews and I am in favor of the yelp reviews. Here in town to run a 10k early am and wanted to be closer to avoid getting up extra early and traveling. I got nothing but a negative vibe from the time I pulled in. I didn't like the host much, kept looking at my license picture and looking at me like I had a fake id. Asked me if I had any guests or pets with me and my no answer did come across truthful to him. When I parked my car I was greeted by two younger kids checking out my car. I am assuming the owners son's checking to see if I had any pets or guests with me. They proceeded to run up and down the alley way for an additional five minutes too. Anyways. You can deposit $100 cash which I would prefer, credit card machine looks old and now a days can you trust using them? The room itself was ok. Clean on the surface but it is dirty. The kitchen is unsanitary, if you look under the cabinets you can find old stains from ether the coffee machine or stove. The bed was blah. The sheets felt like plastic and you wake up with a sore neck. I would recommend bringing a pillow with you but wash it when you get home if you do, felt like bugs were on me when trying to fall asleep. Couldn't wait to get home and shower! I checked out early so left the key in the room as instructed to do, which was fine but the cost of the room gets the extra star. I do not see myself EVER checking in at this or any Rodeway Inn in the future. read more

Piece of sh*t hotel, I trusted keeping my mother at this hotel for 2 weeks prior to her move in date. After the 3rd day, the staff went into my mother's room while she was at school teaching and stole her jewelry box. The staff didn't take accountability and said they haven't seen it, however you can only access the rooms using a key card!! The door is always locked. The worst part is the jewelry stolen was purchased by my dad who passed away years ago! We can't seem to get a hold of the manager but I will make sure to take them to court and hold them accountable. Shame on you all! read more

I never thought I would be writing a negative review for this place. My family and I have been coming to this location for 8-9 years. We have always had an amazing time BUT I was told by a regular that this location is under new management. We went there for the fourth of July as we do every year. We brought our pup which we weren't aware they no longer accepted animals. I offered to pay extra for my dog to stay but they said no, so my poor husband drove 2 hours to bring our pup to a family member. Although we were bummed we understood and told them more than 10 times that we took him home to a family member. The next day we leave to get breakfast (do not disturb sign was up), come back and the man who tends to the property told me that they fixed the bathroom door. They came into our room WITHOUT our permission which leads me to think that they were looking for my pup but again we told them kindly stay out of our room. An hour later the receptionist who also cleans the rooms was cleaning the room next door to ours. My kids and I were hanging out getting ready for the pool and we were laughing. Next thing you know whom I believe is the manager pokes his head in the window and knocks. He explained to me that the receptionist heard our dog barking. MY DOG WAS NOT THERE ! I have a Chihuahua and EVERYONE knows that they bark when they hear someone at the door. After a minute into our conversation he then comes into our room and searches it for my pup. He went as far as checking the cupboards. He exits the room and instead of apologizing he continues stating that the receptionist heard a dog barking. I was FURIOUS I explained to him that I have told his staff more than 10 times the dog is with a family member and that this was harassment. He said it's not harassment and he can do what he wants, and he still not sure if a dog is in the room because he didn't check our luggage. All 3 of them were soooo rude and have no people skills. Again they entered my room without permission and now you came in again to look for a dog that's NOT THERE! I have 3 daughters and it made me feel uneasy to know that staff felt like they could come in whenever they pleased. After that we were not allowed to light fireworks on the 4th of July (which we've done every year).They did not give us any towels. I had to wash their towels with my own money in their laundry mat in order to dry myself. They stayed watching me and the kids every move. They went as far as saying if they see a dog on the premises they were going to call the cops lmao... My kids LOVED that place and now it's tainted. Oh and the kicker they locked the pool and told my kids they couldn't go swimming because it was cloudy. It was so hot and humid outside! How are you going to tell paying customers they can't swim when we paid for it. My kids usually beg me to stay longer but this time they begged me to leave. We left and I had to forfeit money but I am glad to be home. Several neighbors near our room also said that the staff is rude and that instead of it being a hotel for people on vacation it was a prison. This place is going to fail due to staff. They have definitely lost a customer and many more if they continue doing this to guests. Addendum : We were NEVER told someone was going to enter. We declined for the services due to our privacy being violated twice, NOT TOWELS which I asked for verbally and your employee gave me 1 towel. Again I had to wash the towels you provided with our own money. We understood that we OVERLOOKED the recent change in the pet policy but previously the hotel accepted animals as you can see from past reviews. We also complied and brought the dog home the same day we checked in. You and your employees HARASSED us and watched our EVERY MOVE...Fireworks are legal in CT and I have videos on that property for the last 6 years lighting fireworks. In past years the pool was never locked during a CLOUDY DAY (No rain).. You had a power trip an was set on making us miserable because YOUR EMPLOYEE made YOU look STUPID. The Rodeway Inn is a good option for an affordable stay near to the casinos. During my time there, I found it to be clean, roomy, and accommodating. It was a short stay, but overall... a pleasant one. Due to unexpected circumstances, I was not able to check in until very late. Instead of 4pm as intended... it was more like 12:30am. I called ahead of time to discuss my predicament and was assured that a late check-in was no problem. After rolling in "after hours", I was cheerfully greeted by the gentleman at the front desk. He offered an upgrade from a double to queen. Why not! I upgraded for free. After declining an offer for help with the bags, I made may way to the room. This is where they lost a star for me...Not sure if it was because I changed rooms last minute but the hotel was definitely trying to save on the heating bill. The heat was NOT on when I walked in the room and it was freezing in there. Fortunately, prior to heading to the room, the front desk employee described a couple of things, including how to adjust the heat. I cranked it up and when I woke up mid-way through the night, it was cozy and warm. Just wish I could have gone to sleep without bundling up. The bathroom was a bit dated and the wallpaper could have used some updating but the cleanliness was what mattered. The bed was a bit stiff at first but comfortable once I settled in. The room was on the 2nd floor without elevator access so this is something to consider. Refrigerator and microwave available in the room but not something I needed to utilize. Free Wi-Fi, complimentary continental breakfast (not much to it but it was good for a bagel in the morning). Outdoor pool available in the summertime. I would consider staying here again in the future if I needed a room close by to Mohegan Sun. read more

I mistakenly booked 2 rooms at a hotel in Mystic for July 4th weekend that I thought accepted pets (have a dog) and we could not check in. Last minute booked through Priceline which listed this Rodeway Inn as a 1 star as there were very few options left in the area. We were very pleasantly surprised. The rooms were very clean and had small kitchenettes. This was super helpful as a family with 5 kids. It's a motel, double beds, not queens, but very clean, clearly recently updated rooms, flatscreen TVs with plenty of channels. The pool was clean, warm, and equipped with lots of pool toys that made it much more enjoyable. The motel also had a new large grill that we were able to use to cook out. We had planned to go to the beach and ended up lounging around the pool instead. The breakfast is coffee, juice, bagels, muffins. It's small but fresh. What made our stay was how accommodating and friendly the staff was. I've stayed in 4+ star hotels which were not as friendly or offer the same value for the dollar. Glad my mistake led us here, we will be back again for some summer weekend fun! Rated 5 stars because it exceeded our expectations in every way. read more

Aug 4 2013. The last review is of course outdated. The place has wifi through out the property. The pool is the only area I noticed spotty if not absent wifi. The place is very reasonably priced and is close to many attractions or entertainment. Rocky Neck, Mohegan Sun, Waterford speed bowl and Fishing charters are all within a short drive. The owners and their staff are friendly and accommodating. The rooms are clean, the flat screen tv is about 37 inch and has a USB port for charging your phone, iPod, iPad etc. No alarm clocks in the room, but then again 80 to 90% of people have an alarm on their cellular device. The majority uses their cellular device alarm clock anyway. I95 is easy accesses and when you see traffic backed up you can take one if the many back roads and side streets to get to your location. All and all good experience stayed 2 nights and extended 1 more! read more

I was a bit hesitant booking last minute to the Rodeway Inn hotel because my husband and I wanted to enjoy all Mohegan Sun had to offer, but I couldn't say no to the Rodeway inn that was priced at such a great price. The Rodeway did not disappoint. The customer service was fabulous. Was even offered help carrying our luggage to our room. The rooms were spacious, modern and clean. The staff are very friendly even the cleaning lady. The Rodeside is very nice. The decor is simple but very clean. As someone who has never stayed at a motel I am very happy with the condition and space of the room. The only thing that could make this motel better would be a little higher quality sheets but they were clean and we both slept very well on the beds. It is right off the highway which is a very convenient location, it's about 15-20 minutes from the casinos, and it is very quiet, you can see vehicles on the highway but you can't hear them. If you have children there is a large grassy area out front they can play in and they have a fenced in underground pool! They offer a small continental breakfast which is just enough, they had some fruit, bread, pastries and beverages both hot and cold. Very pleasant. read more

Upon arriving everything seemed fine: friendly staff, and a good location. But from the moment I opened the door, I was blasted with the stench of something lurking in the depths of hell. The pillows smelled, the carpet smelled, and the blankets smelled. The cupboards were filled with must, rust, and crust, and the fridge was caked with a layer of dust. As we checked for hidden cameras, we noticed our feet sticking to the oddly moist carpet where we found a bottle of apple juice from the people before... This hotel was one of the worst we stayed in. Location is convenient off 95 but the hotel is so outdated. Needs a big overhaul. Peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, big hole in the bathroom door and bath towels weren't even large enough for a small child, let alone adults. Hallway leading to non-smoking room smelled like smoke. When I commented to customer service about it, he stated well, it's non-smoking but sometimes people smoke when they're not supposed to. The bed was very hard and not at all comfortable. Needed a last minute one night stay near Niantic that could accommodate us and our two children. They had a room with 2 queen beds available. It's a little outdated, but pretty much inline with what I expected. Rooms have an odd smell - similar smell you et in most motels (mixture of cleaning products). Rooms were clean and the stay was comfortable. One complaint is they advertised breakfast - it ended up being just pastries and bagels in the front lobby with coffee/tea/OJ. My son wanted to use the pool in the AM before we left. It was clean and warm. If you just need a place to stay without frills, this place works. read more

My girlfriend and I were at Mohegan Sun for a concert however their prices were ridiculous for the night and we found this little gem, hidden away, only 15 minutes from there. Every other hotel in the area was either full house or high priced. This rodeway however was the best value we found. For an economy class hotel they also had Lot to offer at again, very low price. We ended up staying in Room 106 which had a king sized bed. The best thing was nightstand that featured USB charging station with a multi port power plugs. It came in very handy at night (screentime before bed). The room, decor and especially bathroom, were all so gorgeous. Loved the oversized walk in shower. Best of all, great staff service. He even recommended best food venue to us that we absolutely loved. Front of the hotel features expansive lawn if you wanna walk (too cold for that right now) and (seasonal, was closed) outdoor pool. Overall, very close to places we wanted to see and visit in the area. Only stayed there two nights this time but I can easily see it as home away from home. read more

Wanted to take a Mini Vacation in a short time span of calling around to find a place close to the BEACH here in CT. We called Rodeway Inn and got 2 nights by phone call. Online it said they were booked and were more expensive searching online so CALL THEM to BOOK, do not book ONLINE! Anyways, Here We Go! Staff was good with directions to finding places to EAT/SHOP and EXPLORE. Night staff on one of the night was not very friendly. The day staff I think might be the OWNER, Amazing guy. We talked it up a lot while there. The Room was a basic Motel Room, 2 beds a TV with Satellite and was FLAT SCREEN HD, WiFi which was CHOPPY at times, Microwave, Alarm and ample lighting. AC worked great and they were kind enough to bring us an AIR MATTRESS for me, while I let the kids and my sis take the BEDS. Pool was really good. Kinda Small but 6 ft Deep and the kids had a DAMN blast. Only thing is that its placed about 75 yards from the room we were given. There was a weight room with a nice little Universal Tower to workout on. That was surprising, oh and surprising? No SNACK MACHINE. They had Soda but NO SNACKS. They has a laundry room which was handy for pool towels and bathing suits that did not dry before dinner was done being eaten. DOWNFALL? No Machine for Soap or Dryer Sheets. No Machine for even CHANGE lol. Ok so Lastly? We never ended up going to the beach because the kids really did like the POOL that much. There were plenty of seating, but did notice there was no place to put a cig or cigar out while hanging pool side. Not Cool! See a good amount of butts in the mulch around POOL and or in the Garbage. The Room? Room Service never came around much with fresh towels, T Paper and or change of or making of beds. We had to go down to front desk EVERY day to get new Towels for Showers as well a Bags for GARBAGE which we TOOK out ourselves. Anyways. Over all I would rate the place a 4 BECAUSE of the OWNER and how KIND he really was and how he made us feel like FAMILY. Thank You Very Much for a GREAT 3 DAYS away from Bristol. Jason read more

This place is trash. The staff is rude, unfriendly, and intrusive. There's the trashiest interracial couple living and working on site. Their room/apartment is the first thing you see when you pull up. It's located to the left of the check in office and their window is always wide open so they can creep on you. I felt like I was an unwelcome guest at their personal house. They were always together like a rental cop duo. I never found the duo at the check in office. They were hanging out together and sometimes with friends in front of their personal room, in the middle of the parking lot, or by the pool. Their vibe was extremely negative and territorial. They made me feel so uncomfortable. Whenever we crossed paths they would give me the coldest of mean mugs I've ever seen. It was so bad that I left a day early and forfeited the payment for my intended second night. I could tell that they were gonna make it difficult for me to get the refund I was due. read more
