Downtown Anchorage is a small-town-feel city with not the best options for restaurants. Saw this pop up on my Google search. We were a party of two and we ordered Fresh Rolls and couple of Pad Thai. The sauce for the fresh rolls were too sweet without a spice kick to balance, but the rolls were good and once you added a bit of Sriracha to the sauce, it was better. Nice Thai spot in downtown. Atmosphere is good with a nice interior and large windows. Service was very good with nice servers that were attentive. This is a cute little nook near the Hilton hotel in Anchorage, it was inexpensive. Plates under $20 very friendly and fast service, as soon as you open the door they greet you. Ambiance is nice inside and comfortable with art and culture. I would say it could be perfect for a first date, a romantic evening or just a simple quick lunch break. I ordered the ground chicken egg rolls you get four. Unfortunately the sauce was better than the egg rolls. However, I ate all of them so either I was very hungry or they were not that bad. We had Red Curry Tofu, Fried Rolls (Spring Rolls), Jasmine Tea, Pad Thai, Tom Khar Soup. We were so impressed that we took photos of serving stars and the kitchen staff. Service was top notch. Very fairly priced. A true hole in the wall, which for us is a tremendous complement...some of the best meals we have ever had have been at restaurants like this. The portions were large with good portions of protein and vegetables, the noodles were cooked al dente and both dishes were sauced well. We've been to restaurants where there just wasn't enough sauce and this wasn't the case. We ordered our spice level 1 and 2 and it had just enough bite to still be enjoyable. Passable Thai food with lots of veggie and vegan options. We stopped in for lunch one day, having seen that they have a separate vegetarian menu and that staff are familiar with what can be made vegan. So we each got a lunch special: one of us a green curry and another the red curry, which comes with a choice of brown or white rice, and choice of fresh or fried roll ($13). It took close to half an hour for our dishes to come out for some reason, and they weren't very busy. Both our curries were quite watery, as though they diluted the coconut milk with way too much watery. The flavours lacked richness and flavour depth, but were otherwise OK. Portion-wise, it was on the small side, but for the price and given it's a lunch meal, it wasn't too bad. 2-2.5/5 is what I'd give this place anywhere else, but given where we are, how vegan-friendly it is, and the friendly service, I'm uprating it a bit. EDIT: We returned for dinner to try it again, seeing as it's slim pickings for vegan options in Anchorage. We split three dishes, all modified to be vegan: -Pad see ew -- not made with the traditional very wide flat noodles, just the usual chow fun noodles you get at Chinese restaurants. Bland but passable. -Spicy veggie fried rice -- despite asking for this to be 5/5 in spiciness, it was maybe 3/5 at best. Not the most complex of flavours, but tasty enough. -Garlic tofu vegetables served with a side of brown rice -- this delivered more closely on the requested spiciness, but was still fairly unsophisticated. Fine. All in all, slightly better than the lunch experience, but still not much to praise. 3/5 is a very generous rating. read more

The only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because my order was wrong--I paid for extra protein (beef and pork) and didn't get anything but a few pieces of tofu, and since it was a takeout order, there wasn't much I was going to do about it. I visited myThai again this week while I was staying nearby and my experience was much better this time around. My friend and I visited shortly after restaurants reopened for dine-in with capacity restrictions due to COVID-19. We were the only ones there, but the tables appeared to be adequately spaces and everything was clean. Our server was very welcoming and frequently checked on us to refill our water glasses. I ordered green curry with chicken this time, which was much better than the dish mentioned in my first review. The curry was flavorful with a good amount of spiciness. Good balance of meat and vegetables. We shared the fried tofu bites as an appetizer, which had a nice level of crispiness. The main reason I'm not giving a 5-star review is the prices. Given the relatively small portion sizes, I think the prices are a little too high. My curry was $15.95, the fried tofu bites were around $10, and Thai iced tea was $4.50. Lots of street parking nearby. Quick walk from the 5th Avenue Mall if you happen to be there and want a better meal than what you can get at the food court. read more
