Pad Thai with pork
Ed E.

I love to try small mom-and-pop restaurants when my wife and I travel. We tried The Rickshaw and were very happy with both the food and the service. We entered the restaurant on June 1, 2026 at 7:26 PM. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was very welcoming, brightly lit, and quiet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were seated right away (no reservations needed). They have a LOT of free parking outside, unlike the downtown Anchorage restaurants. My Pad Thai with sliced pork was made with a tasty sauce that I thoroughly enjoyed. The picture does not do the dish justice, because the food portion was piled high! My wife had the Spicy Drunken Noodles with pork. I forget to get a picture of that dish, but it was also very good. The waitresses took our order, brought our food, and came back to see if everything was to our liking. It was! We walked out full. I would definitely go back again the next time we visit Anchorage. If you are looking for good food away from the downtown area, I suggest you give The Rickshaw a try. I hope you will enjoy their food as much as we did.

I'm still kicking myself for not snapping photos when the food hit the table because every dish that came out was absolutely picture perfect. The presentation alone deserved its own spotlight, with vibrant colors, thoughtful plating, and that "don't touch it yet, just admire it" kind of appeal. The salmon panang curry was hands down my favorite. The salmon was perfectly cooked tender, flaky, and rich sitting in a velvety panang curry sauce that balanced creamy coconut with just the right amount of heat. The flavors were bold but beautifully harmonious, with a depth that made every bite better than the last. It's the kind of dish you immediately start planning to order again before you've even finished it. The tonkotsu miso soup was equally impressive. The broth was luxuriously rich and full-bodied, with that slow-simmered depth you hope for in a great tonkotsu. The miso added a savory complexity that made the whole bowl incredibly comforting. Every spoonful felt warming and satisfying perfect for an Anchorage evening. Beyond the food itself, the overall experience was wonderful. When a restaurant manages to combine stunning presentation with flavors that truly deliver, it stands out and RickShaw absolutely delivers. I'll definitely be back... and next time, I won't forget the photos.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Lovely smaller restaurant that feels person and at home feeling![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food was delicious and the service was so one on one throughout the whole dinner! Prices were average and comparable to other places. We spend about $62 for all of our food and left full and happy.

The Salmon Curry was DELICIOUS!

Absolutely phenomenal Thai food! I ordered the khao soi soup, and the first bite instantly took me back to Thailand -- the spice, the fragrance, and the depth of flavor were spot on. The ingredients were incredibly fresh, and the execution was flawless. I asked for it hot hot, and it was the perfect level of heat -- spicy enough to make me question my life choices, which is exactly how I like it! We also tried the larb and the salmon curry, and both were outstanding. Every dish was beautifully balanced and packed with authentic Thai flavor. Even the Thai tea was delicious -- rich, sweet, and refreshing. If you're looking for truly authentic Thai cuisine made with care and passion, this is the place. I'll definitely be coming back!

I came here for the Ramen, but ended up with a different Yummy lunch. Korean bbq pork & orange chicken. The pork was a bit cold....Super basic but done completely right. The service was great. You could tell staff was genuinely concerned about making sure we were happy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I don't have anything to say bad about the place except their 7-11 gas station style bathroom. It's hideous.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But this is also typical for homegrown restaurants in anchortown. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I think the area deserves a step up in the atmosphere for eatablshments here, but it must be hard to do for some reason.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Excellent place. Just tell them Josh sent you to wash the bathroom and the windows.

I tend to think "It's a good meal, when I forget to take photos" I had plans to see a movie close by, I love Thai food, so I decided to give Rickshaw a try. I am happy that I did. The menu: small but mighty - I don't know if this is a popular opinion, but I prefer a smaller menu that is packed with great items rather than a larger menu that has a lot of fair items. Rickshaws menu is small. My husband and I ordered 3 things and all were great. We ordered the lumpia Filipino egg rolls, the spicy chicken ka prow, and the Thai yellow curry with chicken. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe: very laidback atmosphere, open kitchen concept, and open airy dining area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff: pleasant and helpful Overall, I will definitely visit Rickshaw again, probably for takeout. I was thoroughly impressed by the spicy chicken ka prow.

I only ordered take out here. And in the last month or so, I ordered take out three times. Everything I ordered which were the ramen miso, khao soi and spicy drunken noodle with pork were delicious and flavorful. Even though it was take out, the food was well packaged. The favor is authentic Asian food. Each of what I ordered had depth and the right favoring to it. It is in a little strip mall; glad I found it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior for whenever I came in seemed nice enough. Not a romantic upscale place but cute, clean place to go out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food always prepared promptly whenever I ordered, good portion and price very reasonably. Would recommend and will come back.

What a gem! At first-- I didn't know they were opened until I physically checked inside. Quick service from a friendly greeting to table, given a menu, ordered, and food prepared in a very timely manner. Restaurant hours have changed as of February 1 and they are open till 9pm now! The menu appeared to be focused on a lot of the favorite/popular Asian dishes by American standard. Well thought out. I'm hoping for an expansion maybe? I ordered Fresh Rolls with Shrimp and the Ramen Tonkatsu Miso Noodle Soup and both dishes were very satisfyingly delicious. Fresh rolls were of a good size and filling amount. Each bite was tasty when paired with 3 different dipping sauces (salty, peanut, spicy). The ramen was comparable in taste to the ramen spot downtown (well almost). Minus the ambiance and costs. The toppings were delectable especially the chashu pork slices, nice and tender, salty, and melted in my mouth. Decent prices for the quality of food served! I was tempted to order the curry fried rice with pork to-go! Perhaps add in a variety drink menu in the near future? I'll need to come back to try more on the menu!

Rickshaw is INCREDIBLE! I would recommend this place all day every day bar none and I don't say that about many places. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is the place you come to with a small group of friends or for a cozy date.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small place so keep that in mind.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Please try their lemonades, you will thank me later. The flavors in their food that they're working with will keep you coming back for more. Service is friendly and they give you your space.

Curry Fried Rice

The Khao Soi is one of the best dishes I have ever had! I love it so much that we went back another time just for the Khao Soi. The soup was very flavorful, the noodles perfect, the chicken was just falling off the bone. The accompaniments of pickled radish, onions, were so authentic and delicious! The curry fried rice was good, but the Khao soi was excellent!! Highly highly recommend!

Some of the best ramen and Japanese dishes that I've ever had. (I've had a lot) This is a seven…read morestar restaurant, with the exception of one thing. The food was perfect. The service was on point. They have a massive whiskey bar downstairs. They have an excellent menu of craft cocktails. They also have excellent mocktails. I will critique their bourbon selection only because they have a number of bourbons that are 18+ years old that they're trying to sell for Scottish and Japanese prices which are based on reality. Bourbon is not any good out of the barrel past 12 to 14 years. Corn is not the same as grains. The sugar is degrade and get dark after 14 years in spite of some companies selling some of their older swill, trying to get rid of it as premium. They were very nice. I gave the bartenders and recommendations of things that actually are worth that kind of money in the bourbon world. There was plenty to find that was not expensive and quite excellent. The only negative? The Host stand at the top of the stairs needs people who have more pleasant personality. How you greet people in the restaurant is absolutely imperative. It sets the tone for the whole meal. The whole experience. They seem to think that their job is to shoot people off because the restaurant is booked, but they do it in a manner that will make sure people don't come back. It's a little too New York curt. Smiling, and some good grace, would not hurt either of them. When they tell you, it's time to be seated, engaging people and making eye contact would certainly also help them look a little more human as well. Do make reservations. Otherwise, the wait time can be very long. Outstanding food! Absolutely worth passing through the gargoyles at the front door

First they said they were moving things around implying it would be a few minutes. 15 minutes later I went up and he said 5-10 minutes to wait. 15 minutes later still nothing and they tell me another 30-45 minutes and acted appalled that I had checked in. Not worth dealing with them so I left. Ambiance seemed great but ramen isn't worth rude staff so I left.

FOOD: Lao Pork Sausage (8/10) - Can't find this in many places. Amazing!!! Super juicy, slightly salty sausage that pairs perfectly with the sauce and rice. Would get again!
