Stopped in on a Wednesday night with a friend to share a few small plates and a drink. So glad we did! The weather was great so we sat outside. The drink menu was full of fun cocktails. We asked the server for their recommendations and ordered based on her suggestion. The drinks arrived quickly and were PERFECT! Definitely recommend Mes Que if you are looking for a good cocktail. For food we decided to split a cheese and charcutier tray and the Spanish tomato bread. The tray came out first and was a great size for the cost! The tray came with 4 different cheeses and 4 meats along with a variety of toppings, oil/vinegar for dipping and bread. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The bread came out shortly after and it was HUGE! The bread was soft with a great crust and a nice level of toppings. It was a great addition to the tray. I enjoyed a wonderful lunch at this Spanish restaurant. The ambiance was perfect for me--soft lighting, just the right amount of music, and a touch of romance permeated the air. Here, people could converse naturally, and time seemed to slow down. The food was exceptionally well-cooked. Classic Spanish dishes were prepared to perfection, with fresh ingredients, distinct layers of flavor, and rich complexity. Paired with a glass of red wine, it felt less like a dinner and more like a savorable experience. The service was warm and attentive, yet perfectly balanced, without making me feel intrusive, which I always appreciate. If I had to nitpick, a few dishes didn't quite impress me, but overall, the restaurant's atmosphere and the experience made up for it. I'll definitely bring my friends here next time! LOL read more

I'm giving them 3 stars to be generous. The drinks were pretty good but expensive. The service was poor, understaffed and slow. The owner was socializing instead of helping his staff out. Worst of all was the food. They don't have a proper kitchen, they are literally cooking food on hot plates behind the bar. I was shocked and unsure how they could possibly have passed any inspection or get a permit. The refrigeration and freezer is across the room so the staff has to continually go across the room to get ingredients for drinks and food. There was a power strip swinging from the bar to provide power for decorative lights. It seemed like an accident waiting to happen. The food quality was terrible. Soggy pizza, soft flavorless pasta but again they don't have a proper cooking area. They need to either stop selling food or build a real kitchen with proper refrigeration and that the customers can't see into. read more

I believe this place is under new management and that changes a lot for me. If you need a place to watch a soccer game, this is that. If you are looking for a place that has innovative and delicious cocktails, this is also that. The servers are friendly and attentive and while it can get packed and loud during a match, it can also be great for date night with a steady flow of people and a normal volume. I haven't tried much off of their menu; it isn't extensive and their options are quinine, but their pizzas hit the spot and their salads are fresh (not pictured). I like to say they have a hot plate and a dream. How have I never been here before!? Went here for their Tom and Jerry. They have their own unique take on it. Small amount of batter, spicy. The bartenders were super friendly and told us about the drink. Their seasonal cocktail menu was so unique that we went back another weekend and still want to try more! Each bartender created them. If you like soccer, this is the place to be in Buffalo. The owners are big Barcelona fans, the name Mes Que is a Catalonian word that means something like "our home". There are 4 screens in the rather small bar where usually 4 different matches are going on. Premier League, German, Spanish soccer most of the time. When we were there it was play off time for the World Cup later in 2022, so National teams were playing. The beer selection is nice, tap and bottle or can options. They also have a small food menu. This a very popular soccer bar. Tonight 4 matches were being broadcast from the South American group. We were there to watch Ecuador vs. Paraguay. We were cheering for Ecuador. Ecuador lost 3-1. There is a small menu and an even smaller kitchen area; the chef was very busy the entire time we were there. All that came out of the chef's cooking area looked very good. Decided to give this place a try for my anniversary with my boyfriend and we absolutely loved it. It is a soccer bar I believe but definitely didn't feel like that while we there. This pub showed my Colombian friends and I tons of disrespect during a soccer game on Wednesday, June 10,2024. Starting with the bar manager and Bartender Rita, On their defense, they were under staff. But it gives them NO right to be rude nasty and to F bomb customer, pushing us, yelling "get out of the way" "f ing move" throwing plates down hard to customer with their food, and and yelling to customers " get out if you don't like it " At one point I was told to take my people out of there which meant my Colombian people. I felt so discriminated against. I thought the discrimination era was definitely over in Buffalo. But I guess not! This review is for drinks only. Other people in my party ordered some soup, a couple charcuterie boards, and a pasta dish, which looked fantastic. Everyone eating agreed that the food was delicious. Let's move on to those wonderful libations. A friend suggested I try the Luis Suarez. It was the best recommendation I have ever been given, and the best decision I have made in the last 3 months. It was toted as being muy caliente, however, I asked the bartender to tone it down a bit, and it was marvelous. I like to try multiple cocktails when out with friends and my second one was the thai pineapple margarita, which also had a nice kick to it. My final drink was the derby. I think that one might be my favorite. It was filled with weird ingredients like worcestershire sauce and tabasco sauce, amother other things. The staff were accommodating, friendly, and welcoming. Mes Que is a great little bar and has a delightful food & small bites menu. The bar specializes in soccer games and it always gets crowded during the World Cup and other championships. I recently came in to catch up with a friend and had a great meal. I started off with a mocktail and their yoga pants drink made a pretty delicious mocktail. I mean, it has avocado puree. How can you go wrong?! This place is great! During the week if you're looking for an ambience of relaxing meets chic European this is the place to be. They are noted as a soccer (futbol) bar and this is represented by scarfs from all the teams hanging in the entryway, plus the TV is always hosting the latest match. Drinks were reasonably priced and tasted great! I got a drink that boasted a smoky tequila and floral taste ( would would never think those coincide) but they certainly did. Went here yesterday to watch the Euro Cup final. The place was packed to full capacity. Everyone working that day was incredibly friendly and respectful. They were very busy and easily could have become overwhelmed, but service here was phenomenal. The wait for drinks at the bar was never long. The bartenders remained friendly the entire time and even remembered the name on my tab, despite the number of other patrons there. The bouncer was incredibly respectful and was able to direct traffic in the area I was standing politely and gently. The owner or manager was also great managing the line for the bathroom. It Used to be a great place to watch soccer match, but now they have a very rude staff. The manager who is also bar tender, waiter and also cook the food has no problem telling the customer to leave if they politely call out his rudely behavior. This place used to be called "Mess Queue", but it was shortened because there isn't much space on their signage. It was named as such because, duh, it's always messy and there's always a queue for the loo. However these days it's not messy and the queue is occasionally manageable... so they changed the name... To Mish Queen. But that attracted all kinds of pervy leery gross hairy older men who thought this business was, of course, something it is not. So they had to change the name again, and chose "Mes Que", which is named after part of FC Barcelona's slogan, "Mes Que Une Club." More than a club. Kind of like when you're playing poker, and you realize you have an extra card hiding behind the 5 of clubs! You have "More than a club!" You have a queen too! A mish queen. So... This is a really cool soccer bar! They have good food, and they show lots and lots of soccer. It's the kind of place that Buffalo needed... so badly, did it need it. It is a great place with a lot of great people there. I have watched soccer here several times, most notably the Champions League Final of 2014 which was packed wall to wall and extremely intense and enjoyable. The Brazil World Cup, I heard, was even crazier, but I was actually in Brazil for the Brazil World Cup, so... ;) They have a cool soccer quiz here once every month or so, and I'm ridiculously good at it, to the extent that it's unfair on the other people who play, unless they're on my team. I'm also incredibly modest, didn't you know. I win a gift certificate whenever I play the quiz and am able to take my friends here and buy them food. Which is fun. But I should really not play the quiz anymore because it's really not fair. So with my latest gift certificate, I took two Yelpers here. They both ate pizza (you can see their pizzas in the picture) and let me try some of them. One of the pizzas was sweet, and I don't really like sweet mixed with savoury (I know, stop telling me I'm a bad foodie, I'm so not a foodie, lol), and the other pizza was much better. More pesto-y and herb-y. But to be honest the pizzas didn't do anything for me, and I don't think they did anything for the two of them, either. There were some stars of the food menu though. The warm bread and oil was fantastic! I can't remember where they said they got the bread from, but it comes partially cooked and then they do the rest... and my word, they do a great job. Excellent oil too. Some of the best bread-and-oil I've had in the city, not far behind Village Eatery (Lockport) and Oliver's. And that was free, so they brought more as many times as we wanted it. What a treat. The other thing I liked was my Charcuterie plate. I've never ordered a Charcuterie in my life before, because I'm usually priced out of it, but at $8 it was very affordable, especially since I had a gift certificate. There were four different types of meat, with some spicy mustard and some sweet preserves. Ew to the preserves. The mustard was excellent. The prosciutto was good but not great. The salami was excellent. But the real highlight were the two different types of greasy, cold, spicy, ready-to-eat sausages. One was "Chippolata" and the other, well, I'm not sure, but it was similar, just a little pepperier-er-er. I absolutely loved both sausages, and I'm 99% sure that it was Spar's European Sausage Shop providing them, because Spar's rocks my world in the same way and has a very similar taste. So they may not prepare the meats in house, but they made a damn good choice when they decided to work with Spar's. So this Charcuterie Plate gets a 5 for the taste (because of the sausages, not the other two meats), and a 5 for the price. It should be a lower price since they don't make the meats in house, but the fact that it is, pleases me quite a lot. Good job, Mes Que. Now don't go raising the prices on me. And of course because it's the only soccer pub in town, and I keep winning soccer quizzes here, and because I know now that some of the food is great, Mes Que clearly scores 5. This is Mes Que Un Bar... it's a Soccer Pub with a Spanish twist. And when I say Spanish twist I don't mean Julio Iglesias singing a Chubby Checker song. Cool bar to watch a soccer game, enjoy good beers, and order small plates. The decor is very soccer-themed, they have a bunch of scarves hanging up from different soccer clubs, and a few large screen TVs. They also have draft beer from all over, including Europe. I ordered the Community Beer Works - Across the Border Porter, but I also saw beers from Germany, London, and Poland on the menu. They have a large bottle list as well and a mixed drink menu too. For food, I had the goat cheese-pesto pizzas. It was very flavorful and filling for $8. I also like that they cut it into small slices - great for sharing! My boyfriend got the pork and beans on rice, which was kinda soupy looking but he loved it! He said it had the perfect amount of spice. This is one of my favorite spots to visit on Hertel. As a huge soccer fan I may be a little biased as this was the first place around that was focused on giving people a place to come and share their love of soccer and good beers but the place still deserves its props. I've come with other soccer fans, but also those who are a little indifferent to soccer and even those have been impressed. I've come here on all different days, times and occassions, from Saturday or Sunday morning EPL games to evening friendlies, to World Cup Qualifiers and World Cup Games. All have been great experiences, but my favorite by far have the been the World Cup Qualifiers and Games. Whether soccer fan or not, anyone should be impressed by the standing room only crowd, a sea of red, white and blue, leading chants, cheers and songs. I love their extensive beer menu. They have everything from local craft beers, to a great selection of European beers that really help solidify the soccer feel. I realized i've never eaten food here off their menu. Usually i'm standing and its much easier to just have a beer in hand rather than trying to hold a plate of food to but their food does look great. What I have eaten are the grilled specials they were selling during the World Cup. A variety of sausages, burgers and hot dogs, these were easy enough to hold in one hand, beer in the other and still cheer on your favorite team. I came here with my boyfriend and his friend a couple nights ago. I liked the atmosphere because I was originally expecting a dive bar but was happy to discover that it was clean and welcoming. I started off with a whiskey sour that was way too strong, but the other cocktails were a bit too out there for me to order. I didn't know what half the ingredients were. I eventually told our waitress about my issue and she brought me back a perfectly balanced whiskey sour. Our waitress was great in general. She was attentive, courteous, and always made sure our waters were filled. My boyfriend and I next ordered the charcuterie, which was the highlight of the evening. I love sausage, so I was delighted to see two different kinds on the board, andouille and chorizo. There were other delicious meats as well, which were a pleasure to consume. I've never been to a restaurant before that served up a charcuterie, but now I'll actively be on the lookout. My boyfriend and I were still hungry, so we ordered pheasant sausage on a bed of rice. Now, this was supposedly an entree and not a small plate, but it certainly seemed pretty small to me. My boyfriend and I demolished it in a minute. While it was delicious, I thought the price was pretty high for the portion size. Still hungry, we ordered an actual small plate of pork wings (called "hog wings") Now these are cut into the shape of barbecue chicken wings but are made entirely of pork. They were really yummy. The check for 3 people ended up being more than $120. I know the food was sophisticated, but ultimately it was still bar fare. I was pretty shocked, but overall the experience was great. It wasn't too loud in there, which I was pleasantly surprised about, and the food and service were good. I just won't be so heavy handed on how much I order next time. read more

Went yesterday to watch the hockey game with the lady, loved it the bartender was great! We ordered cheese tray that had a variety of different cheeses to try, also had a spicy mustard, honey, craisins and nuts, it amazing. My friend and I were looking for a place to grab drinks on Hertel on Memorial Day and Mes Que was one of the few places open. I was definitely pleasantly surprised. However I was able to get there on a slower day when I was able to get food with a friend, We had for an app the Charcuterie & Cheese Plate $16.00. This was absolutely fabulous! She had the Chorizo, arugula pesto, roma tomatoes and manchego cheese $8 I had the Goat cheese, asparagus pesto, sun-dried tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil and a pomegranate balsamic glaze $8 Both of these were delicious the ingredients were fresh and despite the fact that do not care for sun dried tomatoes I took a chance and I was not disappointed. For Drinks we had several so I will list my favorites! Palapel Lapels - a papaya based drink. Yama Llama - a citrus jalapeno sake drink. Thai Pineapple Margarita - pretty much self explanatory (seasonal) White Peach Sangria(seasonal) Over all a great place to go grab a drink and watch the game. I am always on the hunt for a great place to watch a great Futbol game (that's soccer for everyone in the States), but here in Buffalo well that is kind of hard to come by. Not anymore! Leaving Spot Coffee on Hertel Ave. this afternoon and I am hearing cheering coming from inside of this newly renovated space. Tv's are on and the place is pretty busy for 3pm on a Tuesday afternoon. There's an open seat at the bar, so I slide on in. I ask the bartender what they have for beers and he kind of chuckled at me and just tossed me a menu. Take a gander at this! Glancing down at their menu and I stopped counting at 35 beers, most of which were imports. So I order a beer. Turns out their kitchen is open too so I order a panini. It comes out in record time with a salad and a bowl of pistachio's! That's right I said Pistachio's! How awesome is that... To sum it up... I really, really like this place! I visited Més Que on Sunday to watch the opening game for the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), it was the home team, WNY Flash vs Washington Spirit. They were hosting an official viewing party and some members of the Flash practice squad were in attendance. The bar in the restaurant is pretty big, basically goes from one side of the room to the next and it has two TV mounted right in front. It looks like they carry a pretty decent selection of beers. I am not a beer drinker so I am happy that they have 3 different ciders (Strongbow, Magners and Cidre). They have 4 big TVs, 2 over the bar, 1 next to the bar close to the patio and one on the opposite wall, next to some tables, where it looks you could have your own cheering section. While I was there they played nothing but sports, and not just soccer. They also had a golf tournament and Formula 1 racing. The TV I was interesting in is the one closer to the patio, that the one that streams (from the internet). The food looks excellent! I had the prosciutto, fresh mozzarella and pesto panini. It was so hot and so good! ....I could have one right now.... Next time I'll have to try a salads, the table next to me ordered one and it looked great! I have been here twice. Only once had the food. This review is more of the food than the drinks or environment. Our table had a few different things. The pizzas were not terrific and the flavors did not really come through well. Perhaps too much bread or cheese or something. I'm not sure. But the bread on the table with the oil dipping plate was terrific. The meats on one of the plates were underwhelming, again, lacking in flavor. My cocktail was very nice though, have to say. It was, as so often is the case, a little on the small side, and the shot was clearly on the smaller side than the larger side of a shot, but OK. Its nice to be able to sit at the bar, a table inside, or a table outside. The tables also turned quickly, but I had no impression anyone was being rushed at all either. They clientele was having a great time both times I was there. I had a beer the prior time I went, and while I enjoyed it I have no idea what it was, other than something on draft.
