Mogu modern Chinese kitchen is making the classics you love a little healthier and lighter. Ordered food to go and it was ready pretty quickly. Ordered the general tsos chicken, which was delicious! I couldn't tell it had not been fried. Only complaint is I wish it came with some broccoli (or a vegetable). It was just chicken. Good sized portion and came with rice. Also had the steamed pork dumplings, which were delicious. Friend is gluten free and had the build your own dish with chicken and sauté infusion sauce with vegetables which they loved. Other friend had the ribs and raved! Can't wait to come back and try some more items! read more

The little mini wonton bites are the best item on the menu, and they're air fried and SO FRESH. I was craving egg rolls, and the last few times I got them from my local place. They were greasy but not crispy. I know people who've tried MOGU and liked it, so I decided to give them a try instead, and I'm very happy I did. The egg roll was extremely crispy not greasy and the inside was nice and juicy. I opted for the veggie eggroll and the Sriracha mayo on the side. It was spicy, mildly hot and a nice match to the egg roll. I will definitely try them again. read more

Wanted to try this place out heard a lot of good things. We did a takeout dinner and didn't disappoint. Ordered the Mei fun with shrimp, build your own roast pork with garlic sauce, spare ribs, hot and sour soup. The Mei fun was different but good not authentic flavor but less greasy and oily. Overall a good taste. The soup was perfect not too spicy and lots of stuff in soup. The build your own was good also. Food is different from authentic Chinese take out but tasty in its own way. Delicious, But Is It Really Healthy? I love this place--hands down the best spot for Chinese food in the area. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and hits the spot every time. They always give extra sauces and never up charge. This is the only place I go to for traditional dishes like fried rice and General Tso's. That said, I have a sneaking suspicion it's not as healthy as they advertise. I can't find any calorie or nutritional information anywhere, which makes me wonder. Not a dealbreaker, but a little transparency would be nice. My boyfriend and I have been to the Farmingdale location a few times and decided to check out this location for dinner tonight. It was so delicious, but we already knew it would be. I had my usual shrimp with broccoli. Yummy! My boyfriend ordered two things he's never had before; bang bang rice with pork and hi mein noodles with steak. He enjoyed both and he LOVED the boss sauce. He said the steak in the hi mein noodles was so soft. He enjoyed both things that he ordered. We also ordered popcorn wontons. My absolute favorite appetizer here. Pillowy goodness of pork in a little bite of yummyness. Mike at the counter took our order. He was so kind and attentive. Checked on us a few times and didn't charge us when we wanted more boss sauce. We can't eat "regular" Chinese food anymore. Once you go Mogu, you don't go back. read more

Surprisingly, my family enjoyed this place given we used to run Chinese restaurants. It's like a fast casual modern Americanized Chinese equivalent of Chick Fil-A where they use fresh ingredients and air baking without frying with a ton of greasy oil. The flavors are consistent and matches what I'd expect for their Phoenix or Sweetfire wings and Emperor Tso's chicken, which is crispy and yet sweet and spicy with a tang. The scallion pancakes are crispier, but don't have the elasticity of the dough. Hot and sour soup isn't going to be authentic like a Sichuan or Hunan restaurant where you can smell the sourness, but at least they remembered the wood ear mushrooms. The only thing their target clientele might expect is, where is the mogu gai pan, which is chicken and mushrooms, give their restaurant's name is mushrooms and "to eat" in Korean. With a simple menu for fast foodies who want something healthy, this might satisfy you. What impressed me even more is the quality, friendliness, and helpfulness of their service and staff. They're informative, proactive, and thoughtful unlike most Chinese fast food or even sit down restaurants, which care more about food and turnover than service :). Parking is ample in the plaza's lot and there is a kiosk to order if you don't want to wait in line. read more

i have been going to Mogu since they opened this location. my go to dish is their Kung Pao chicken. due to a medical dietary restriction, I always ask that the onions be removed. it always was an issue, but they would accommodate need. until now. I was told by Anton the manager that they could not remove the onions. their reason was even more astonishing, it was impact their inventory system. never have I had a restaurant, at any level, turn down my request to remove an item from a dish, let alone the reason being because it would impact their inventory. i was stunned by their refusal to remove one item from what I thought was my made to order meal, but even more so with their reason. what a shame. read more

I appreciate the vegetarian dishes... Ordering online is so convenient! 4 stars for that alone! If you like your Asian dishes w lots of spicy flavors.. I think you will like it here. I am solely rating on vegetarian and pescatarian dishes as I don't eat meat except seafood. I appreciate their vegetarian Hot & sour soup. I can't help but to think most of the stir fried dishes looks/tastes like PF changs.. hopefully much healthier! If you like your dishes with lots of spices... Mogu is super unique and always hits the spot. Although it takes awhile to get here (via Uber eats) to Medford, it's always worth the wait. We ordered the family combo and it did not disappoint. We got General T'os chicken, air fried pork dumplings, mei fun noodles, broccoli with garlic sauce and air fried rice with bacon. Our favorite was the chicken with the rice in second place. I've only ever ordered takeout but would love to come in person (food is always better in person) next time we're in western Suffolk. Check it out, you won't regret it! read more

So I finally tried this place after contemplating it for some time. It's ok. A.few things, the rice (white) is a medium grain rice, which is a bit firm.for my liking. It feels more like parboiled (Uncle Ben's) rice. I wished it was cooked it a rice cooker - consistency matters. The 4 of us ordered: steam porked dumplings, not so fried rice with chicken, Singapore mei fun with chicken, and the build your own -sautee infusion with beef and a side of white rice. 1) the dumplings were a hit with my 7 year old. It looks home made. I didn't get a chance to try a piece. 2) the not so fried rice was a less greasy take on fried rice - was still greasy. It needs the standard peas and carrots, and a little bit more MSG. 3) The Singapore mei fun should be done as a fixed entree - standard Singapore mei fun, from my 30+ years of having it at various takeout Chinese places from NYC to long island had ALWAYS had chicken, shrimp, and roast pork. You can make it pricier, but don't skimp on this detail. This is one of my measures of how good am Chinese take out restaurant is. 4) the Beef Sauteed Infusion was well made. It had good Mallard reaction/ "wok hey", but probably cooked on a non stick skillet for easy clean up. Again, would have preferred softer longer grain rice. The beef "steak" was marinated using classic baking soda to tenderize it. The dining area was comfortable - my table had a good glaze of grease on it. I did tell this to one of the staff members walking around - use degreaser. Overall, good flavors, customizable foods, a bit pricier than standard Chinese take out fare. I have been hearing about this "healthier Chinese" spot for a while now and finally tried it out. We got take out this weekend and it was pretty good. Place is clean and the girls at the front were very friendly. I ordered 2 classic egg rolls the chicken with broccoli and emperor tso's chicken entrees and a pork fried bang bang rice. The rice has a yummy garlic/buttery taste to it and the tso's chicken was amazing! The egg rolls were alright and the chicken with broccoli was not what I expected at all. It was very bland; really lacked that brown sauce flavoring. Overall 3.5 stars but rounding up. Would definitely go back and try more dishes but not the classic chicken and broccoli. read more

I had my food delivered today and it was still popping hot when it arrived. I had the Sesame Chicken which is one on my favs from this spot, and it was immaculate. Very tasty and just enough sauce. What I appreciate most about MOGU is their very detailed menu with allergens/dietary restrictions noted. So that may be a lie. What I appreciate most is actually their signature Roundhouse Kick Chili Paste! I want to smother everything in it. I want to drink it. I may even want to bathe in it (OK, probably too sticky). This is a great place to get takeout, though they do have seating inside with a fast casual vibe (order at the counter). My family all loved what they ordered. I didn't order just the chili paste. I ordered the vegan Impossible dumplings on this visit, my first. I liked them but next time I'd probably get the veggie ones instead b/c they are a bit heavy and one note for my liking. In addition, there are many veggie options that are calling my name (also, vegan scallion pancakes!) I appreciate the healthy leaning, of course I do (air fried instead of deep fried! sauce on the side option), but don't think they skimp on flavor and you can sure as hell get your food drenched in sauce, or extra spicy etc. Options make me happy, especially when a place doesn't make. you feel weird for being... particular (sounds better than fussy!) This is very minor but I wish they had a better quality soy sauce packet option. That stuff they have is the kind that is basically liquid salt. I'd gladly pay extra for the good packets that they give in Japanese restaurants. They give so many great options here, that I thought it would be worth mentioning. Our first time dining here at Mogu in Commack. It is located in a shopping center, where there is plenty of parking. You walk in the first set of doors and there are 2 more sets of doors, one for pickup and one to place orders. The menu has a good selection of build your own entrees and standards with a twist. We ordered the popcorn chicken which was very good and the scallion pancakes with roast pork were ok. I built my own entree of steak and brussel sprouts in garlic sauce and it was very good. Reviews from my family said their dishes were good. Portion sizes were decent. Service was excellent, the dishes were brought to our table. Modern and contemporary feel. One of the reasons we came here was it wasn't loud so we were able to converse. If you are not looking for authentic Chinese food, this is an option. read more

Disappointed customer, I order from Mogu all the time. I ordered the family special on October 25th and what a disappointment. My dumplings order was completely wrong and tasted terrible . I order the same dumplings all the time but this time i don't believe it was the same ingredients inside . The we're not even edible I had to throw the entire order away ! Then my food was cold ! Probably the best hot and sour soup around! Mogu's broth is the perfect blend of sour and spicy. It is not too salty, and they give you the option to add homemade dumplings. I've had other items as well-- everything is flavorful and not greasy or overly salty. Definitely will put Mogu in the rotation. read more

Whole experience, from approaching the counter to packing up what we couldn't finish (despite REALLY wanting to!) was beyond what I've experienced at any other Chinese restaurant. Zach, who helped us at the counter, was kind, friendly, and knowledgeable with a smile on his face the entire time. Ashley hopped out from the back to answer a specific question we had about how the tofu was prepared and was equally amazing, even recommending vegan considerations. I think this my second review for this place. One of my pet peeves is cold Food, and Mogu serves its food piping hot. The sweet fire wings were outstanding as were the spare ribs. Service was fast, and since ALL food is expensive right now, I won't comment on the price. The king egg roll, and orange chicken, as reported by my daughter were fantastic. It may not FEEL like authentic Chinese food, but that's because it's not cooked in oil and salt. It's actually better... by a lot! read more

One of the freshest Chinese food take-outs I've ever had! I love ordering from here, the food is consistent & great. The prices are reasonable and the portion sizes are decent, we typically have leftovers. The best part is the food is air-friend so it's not greasy/heavy.
