Is this the best Chinese food I've ever had? No, but it's pretty solid. Be prepared for more Americanized style Chinese, rather than authentic. My family came here to pick up dinner on Christmas and there was quite the line! It's only a takeout spot, so there were a bunch of people waiting. The value for your money here is great, especially for the larger sized dishes. We fed 5 for around $65, which seems like a steal these days. Some of our favorites were the Chicken Chow Mein and Chicken with Eggplant. The food wasn't too greasy or heavy, which is something I tend to worry about with takeout Chinese food. This place changed. Food is soaked in oil and the oil used are seed oils aka "vegetable" oils that are toxic. You can smell and taste the rancidity. I am so disappointed what has occurred. Golden Dragon used to be wonderful back in the early 2000's. They want to save a penny and not use natural healthy oils like palm oil, lard, tallow, coconut oil or butter. Hunan beef tasted like the beef with broccoli with some crushed chili pepper seeds for spice. Hunan beef and garlic sauce included other vegetables like green pepper, snow peas, onion, baby corn, water chestnut. The garlic sauce tasted a bit too sweet, but wasn't too bad. The pork and stringbeans on the other hand were waaaaaay too sweet. Not going to get that again. Egg drop soups were nice and thick, but the container seemed a little smaller than the typical soup containers. If I could give this negative stars I would. I just paid a fortune for the most disgusting chinese food I've ever eaten. The chicken and vegetables are soggy and taste disgusting. The shrimp are the size of a dime and have no flavor. The eggrolls are half the size of other restaurants. The portions are tiny and the prices are outrageous. This Chinese restaurant has been here for years serving up the Pines with consistently decent Chinese food. They are always friendly and loyal to their customers. They will custom cook your food to what ever specifications you request. Unlike most Chinese "take-out" restaurants, this one has a rather large dining room affixed off to the side with complete dining room service -- albeit outdated decor. They also used to have a tiny "lounge" crammed into the corner where the would serve pretty potent mixed drinks while you waited for your food to be ready. I haven't seen this open for awhile now though. Their strong point is their Cantonese specialties imho. read more

I was just ripped off on an order of sesame chicken. I ordered one quart of three items. The sesame chicken was not in a Chinese food quart container. It was in a white plastic tray. I measured it to be one pint in a measuring cup. When I called to complain, the man I spoke with had an attitude. He said the sesame chicken is "white meat" so they give you less. He had the nerve to ask me to drive ten minutes back to him in order to get a refund. He made zero effort to make it clear to future customers so I am going to file a series of complaints with BBB and consumer affairs. Beware that this place will rip you off. Golden Dragon has fallen from my 2016 review. The food, now, is just "okay," but, virtually, no different from any other Chinese restaurant. They must have changed chefs over the years, because we could taste the difference, month after month. Also, the portions have become smaller, and, in a few dishes, whatever meat was in them is very hard to find, and what we do find is hard to eat, due to its large size and chewiness (i.e., badly prepared). Roast pork Egg Foo Young was decent but the gravy on it was terrible. It tasted like think canned beef gravy. General Tsaos chicken was white meat in a flavorful red sauce but the blight red color of the sauce was strange. The portion smaller that the typical size at other restaurants. Chicken and broccoli was mostly broccoli, with much less than half the quart being chicken. Egg rolls would have been good if they werent fried too long and been greasy. Fried wontons were chewy and not good. Steamed dumplings were the only thing that was pretty good. Wonton soup was flavorless. Egg Drop soup was watery and thin.
