I've been coming here a long time and food is always fresh and delicious. Before I was vegan I really loved their General Tao's Shrimp. Now that I'm vegan I love their General Tao's Tofu and their vegetable fried rice is awesome. They've even made Orange flavors spicy Tofu for me. My girl friend likes the szechan chicken. Service is friendly and food is always ready fast. read more

Let me break down their beef with broccoli, as it's all I have had but oh man.....holy crap. it is DELICIOUS..... THE BREAKDOWN: the beef is buttery, creamy, smooth, delicious, and oh so tender! the broccoli is perfectly steamed. with a slight crunch, but soft enough to soak up all of that amazing sauce. the sauce, though a tad oily, is the perfect brown sauce. not too salty. not too browny. not too strong, not too weak. it's just thick enough to cling onto all of the beef and broccoli in the dish, and wow. just wow. i'm only visiting the area, but when i come back, if chinese food is offered as the meal of choice, i'd definitely hop on that train, should the name 'green garden' be thrown out. I live near chinatown in NYC and I, too, as the reviewer below mentioned, have yet to find beef with broccoli as good as this in the city. 7 months ago I moved from Long Island to the great island of Manhattan, and haven't looked back, except to mourn the loss of my bi-weekly Green Garden dinners. In the 7 months i have lived in the city, I've tried somewhere around 20 different Chinese take out places, and none have come close to Green Garden. How difficult is it to make a Won-ton Soup where the won-ton isn't falling apart, isn't too salty, isn't too watery, etc? Apparently pretty hard, because i haven't found a place that matches green garden won-ton soup. My Good ol' Standbys at Green Garden are: Won-ton soup Egg Roll Chicken Wings Beef with Broccoli Steamed Tofu with mixed Vegetable, sauce on the side And if you like spicy mustard, be sure to ask for a little jar of the house mustard they keep in the fridge. Luckily my parents still live nearby, so I just hope there will be some Green Garden in my future! read more

It honestly kind of baffles me, how a restaurant can turn out below-average sweet and sour chicken and pork fried rice. They're staples of the Chinese-American takeout menu, and while I don't claim that I could do any better, I also don't claim to be running a restaurant. At any rate, it's a nice enough place, clean surfaces and polite staff. Portions are generous for the price. But when it came down to the food... The sweet and sour chicken was mushy and tasteless. I know it's not exactly an exciting dish, but this tasted mostly like a mushy sheet of paper. On the other hand, the pork fried rice tasted like mostly salt - and I'm a guy that usually likes a big helping of MSG or whatever. And I've never seen pork fried rice quite that yellow before. It was bright like a school bus and just as unappetizing. Honestly, the food is an even bigger disappointment because everything about the restaurant seemed so nice. Alas. read more

Have lived in Greenlawn for 13 years and have never ordered from here ever! One night I was playing mr. Mom and had no idea what to do for dinner...saw green garden on yelp and saw decent reviews. They deliver, so I was in business. Had the usual comfort foods like General tsos chicken, Szechuan beef, fried dumplings and chow fun beef. All were good except for the fried dumplings, had too much doughy skin..also charged me $5.25 for 8 pcs when their menu online says 10 pcs for $4.50... The menu on yelp that is...not sure if it's accurate. Either way $40 for dinner and I didn't have to lift a finger except give the $40 to the delivery guy. Not great food, but not bad either! But let me tell you, the delivery was like LIGHT SPEED!! It felt like...I hung up the phone and my door bell rung!!, I'm not kidding..like 12 minutes from phone to doorbell. One of the best local Chinese food take out spots. We get the ribs or boneless ribs. They have curry beef, chicken or shrimp- all very good. Shrimp in garlic sauce is another good choice. read more

Goodness gracious, I am not sure what I just ate but I know it wasn't chicken. I order the same thing every time I pick up Chinese food; steamed chicken and broccoli with steamed dumplings and brown rice. Each time I come here I ask for just steamed chicken and just steamed broccoli and I also get other vegetables tossed into the container, which is slightly annoying considering they're usually carrots and I do not like carrots. Now I could get past the carrot situation if I was convinced that what I was eating was actually chicken. There is no way that it was, it was fatty, chewy, hard in some spots, inedible to say the least. I have to tell you, my dog, who eats anything and everything wasn't even into this "chicken." I mean, it was really bad, really bad, slimy. I actually don't even want to talk about it anymore because I attempted to eat more of it than I really should have. The broccoli was fine and the garlic sauce they added on the side was anything but healthy, which is what I asked for, but it was tasty. People in my family really like this place and it's there go to, but it is most definitely not mine. read more

Average take out Chinese place. Does not seem very sanitary. The cashier was handling food, then taking my payment. Food was ok, and would be good in a pinch. Not sure if beef was actually beef. Either they have new chefs or new owners, but I just ate Asian paste. Like flour and water paste with a bit of soy sauce. I will go and talk to the owner, but that was horrible. The spare ribs were like tofu on a bone and the general's chicken was as spicy as chalk and just as enjoyable. So sorry to see a once good restaurant fail so badly!!!! read more

I am an avid Chinese food lover, I used to live in Sunset Park Brooklyn next to a place that was very authentic Chinese and I find that out on the island it's hard to find those flavors. Most cater to American's palate, and all they want is some form of fried chicken basically. I like traditional dishes, dumplings especially. I haven't tried them here yet but I will. Absolutely wonderful Szechuan flavors, hot and sour soup has a nice spice and other subtle flavors. Noodles are not too greasy, and overall a great little Chinese kitchen with nice people working there. I will return! read more

Ordered scallops with cashew nuts, got 5 scallops and very few cashew nuts. Cost 11.95 and got a quart full of cellery and carrots. Used to love this place but new owners took over and food has gone downhill. Will have to search for a new place. read more

Gross. I have moved out to the Island from NYC and I can't believe what a hard time I'm having finding a consistently good take out place. This place was good a few times, but the last time we got stuff (last weekend) it was appalling. Ribs were fatty and tough. Steamed dumplings were so doughy they could have been buns. My guests actually accused me of losing my NY edge since I recommended this place. I was mortified. And nearly everything went into the garbage. And what's with the fried rice? It's yellow food dye! After reading these reviews, I was expecting a better meal than what I are tonight. The wonton soup and dumplings were good. I tried the beef and broccoli that everyone seemed to rave about and it wasn't excellent as described. My wife and I couldn't even get through it. The lo mein was bland but that could float some peoples boats, I guess. Overall a rating of a Meh to Meh Plus. read more
