I came in because I've had issues with my headlights for longer than I'm willing to admit, and they were able to locate the issue almost immediately. I kicked myself for waiting so long to come in, but was grateful I chose their shop. I dropped off my car and within a few hours, it was ready. Overall I was in and out for $100. The value was excellent! I had no issues communicating with the front office - the staff spoke perfect English. ***FYI their hours are 930am-5pm*** As a bonus there are a few shop kitties (aka managers) roaming around. Ive been coming to N T Auto Repair for years. Today, I brought it in for routine maintenance, shortly after the maintenance light came on. Hiro told me that he would text me when it was ready to pick up. I didn't get the text, so called a few hours later, when Hiro said he had gone ahead and changed two of my filters and that my car was already ready. I didn't appreciate that he went ahead and added charges to the maintenance that I had not previously agreed to. I told him that the next time, he should call me to explain what additional changes I needed before going ahead and just doing it. He responded by shaming me for not taking my car to NT often enough. read more

NT is great if you work downtown and have an older Japanese car. They are reliable, honest and friendly. Their English is not the greatest but they are competent. It helps if you speak Japanese but I don't and I speak to them fine. Also if you work downtown you can drop your car off walk to the new little Tokyo train station and zip back to your office and back again to pick up your car. I use to Uber form my office and it was like 15 dollars plus to take an Uber and I had to wait for a pickup. The short train ride is much cheaper and much faster. Way convenient. I can't say enough good things about NT. They keep my 140K manual transmission Subaru running. I take my daughter's older Lexus there as well. Give them a try. read more

Located in Little Tokyo part of Downtown LA, parking could be an issue if they are swamped with work. I assume it's because the mechanics are working outside and they don't have anyone stationed in the office. I went today because of tire pressure issues. Nobo and his colleague were very helpful. Four stars for the friendliness, thorough explanation and willingness to check more than I requested over the phone. Called and asked if I could come by for oil change. When I got there, I requested to have them check fluids and brakes and other stuff. They were cool with that and they gave me a quote right there. When I went to pick up my car, it was ready with oil changed, fluid replenished, brakes checked out. The guy explained to me in detail the condition of my brakes and what I would need to do in the future. He gave me a reminder sticker for my next oil change as well. I think they specialize in Japanese cars. They asked me what my car was over the phone before I brought it over and he said it was fine to bring my Nissan. read more

I declined service but they still charged me labor. I returned to LA, went to N T, where Nobo quickly diagnosed the issue and the part needed. I had a very bad experience in NT AUTO last month. While driving the engine light was on and I stopped the car. I couldn't started the car again, so I towed my car to the NT AUTO. They told me take 2 weeks to repair, after 3days I called NT AUTO asked what was going on to my car.they told me the car engine was dead need $8000 to fix.by the way I have 2011 lexus 250 with 90000 miles. I talked to the south county lexus dealer and towed my car to south county lexus. Within 2 hours they found out that my car had bad gas and fixed my car which makes me very happy. I was charged $200 by NT AUTO What wast time money and energy!!! Definitely NOT coming back. NOT RECOMMEN THIS PLACE!!! read more

Very friendly and most of all they are honest mechanics. So the unicorn does exist. They specialize in Japanese automobiles not sure if they work on others. I will only take my Honda to them for repairs. Other than a Honda service center they are the most knowledgeable. That coupled with their honesty and fair prices they can't be beat. Very good and honest people. My car broke down yesterday on the freeway and I was lucky enough to drive it off the freeway and found this shop. Not only did they help me right away, but they didn't charge me a thing and told me it was my transmission. Unfortunately they do not do that sort of work but they didn't charge me a cent and spent 20-30 minutes checking the car and even lifting it to figure out my problem. Giving five stars for two experiences: 1) I had a flat tire and live about a block and a half away. I called asked for a quote, and was told $25 and to bring it on over they could get it done quick. Threw on the spare, drove over 10 minutes later, and was promptly and kindly greeted. My car was done in 15 minutes, they put the spare back and all (yes I do have to note that as some places have not done this for me...ew) and it was $25 straight up. No problems since. Can't say the same for the other tire I had patched at another shop further away. Car is a Toyota Camry, 2016. 2) Took a used car we had just purchased via dealer for a check. Not only did they help us confirm what the dealer and carfax said, they confirmed the things I had noticed (issues with the back bumper), and found a bolt that left us with questions. They gave us their solid recommendation on the bolt and it's helped us out. Car is an Infiniti G37, 2012. I'm really grateful for these guys and the work they do. I think they're a great local business and should receive more from people in the neighborhood. read more

Great service. I have an older Toyota Corolla (2002) with low mileage. My check engine light was on and they were able to diagnose it, and fix it that day. The owner is first generation Japanese, and extremely nice. I know one of the reviews stated they were open 24/7 a while back, I noticed this around the time I was looking to get my car repaired (it was around 7:00). The hours of operation listed were not put on there by the owner, but another user. They have since updated their operating hours after I let them know about the discrepancy. My battery warning light came on a few miles before I got home. I was so relieved to find a well rated mechanic nearby. Nobo and Keji were both very nice. When I drove in Keji did some tests on the spot and was able to ID on his gauge that the alternator was causing the issues. The prices were very reasonable for everything when I checked online for average costs, and my car was ready at the time it was promised. First, I don't have a Japanese car. To whoever it was that said they only service Japanese cars, not true. I live walking distance from these guys, saw the Yelp reviews, so I thought I'd swing by and give them a go with my Pontiac Grand Prix. I needed my breaks repaired...er...overhauled, really. I went in to ask for a quote, he gave me something super low, and I honestly told him, "No, that's just for pads. I need rotors, pads, everything. I messed them up!" He rattled off some amounts for parts, which I was keeping track of and tallying in my head. It sounded like the total might still have been at the cheaper end of the estimates I had been given at other garages and via a mechanic who's a friend of a friend. I figured, what the heck, it's close, has good reviews, and the amount sounds about right. I had my car towed over the next day without an appointment, they took it in, and I got a call the following afternoon with an actual estimate. I was so shocked to hear that the guys were going out of their way to keep my prices down! They found a way to make all but one of the rotors useable without having to replace them with a recommendation that I replace them next time I have to redo the brakes, and were able to fix the caliper that I thought I had destroyed completely. That left me with only having to pay for one rotor and brake pads on all four tires, and with a bill that was literally HALF as much as the maximum I had gotten in my head. Plus, I got the car back much faster than I had anticipated (and it was even ten dollars cheaper when I picked up than the price the guy gave me on the phone!). Yep, I absolutely found my new garage that I'm going to use for everything. These guys were fast, professional, honest, and were willing to help me cut down on costs instead of trying to double their profits. They deserve all their five star reviews and more than deserve to get more business coming their way from anyone who reads these. Thank you, N T! Honest, honest , Great ! I wish I can give ten stars!,, My wife's car was stalled in L. A downtown. AAA recommended this place . She was afraid this N T auto might charge a big money. Guess what? She only paid " $24.00 " only. They run the computer and find the problem( Idle control valve inside the hook did not close correctly). This is a Honest and very very reasonable place I would recommend. If I live around here I will take my car to this place from now on. The only downside is the they don't always pick up the phone and it can be difficult to understand the workers however, this did not diminish my experience with them. Changed the headlamp on my 2008 Prius (ridiculously complicated task--you basically have to drop the front bumper...) for 1/2 of what the dealership wanted. They had to order the part, but it came same day. I think one of the guys was actually able to sneak his hand in through the top, so they passed the savings on to me. Really nice guys. Few weeks before I took my car to this shop, I had to diagnose my vehicle to see why is my car not starting and I went through the basics such as checking fuses, wires, battery testing, etc., but no answer....later I tried scanning for code troubleshooting but nothing because, well the power was on although the scanner couldn't read it so I had to check the starter one more time...I was like, that's it.....until few of my people recommend me to this shop by high suggestions. I took my car in via the tow truck and they found the problem (fuel pump) and was able to change parts to my car and got it ready and running with a fair price, not gonna complain (except for the humid weather) and hey, I got my car back in best shape ever.
