I've been to Naan & Brew for lunch a couple of times now, and I love the concept! Rich, spicy Indian food and tasty craft beers - what's not to love? It's the perfect addition to downtown Bham, and has been attracting quite the crowd to their tasty lunch buffet. I especially enjoy the veggie pakoras with their deep-fried crispiness on the outside and their tender, delicious insides. The tandoori chicken is also delicious; very tender and perfectly seasoned. Give me a plate of this and some basmati rice and I'm in heaven! The buffet also includes your choice of plain or garlic naan. I prefer the garlic because, hello, garlic! The service is super friendly here, too, and they have a full bar (including some yummy-sounding concoctions) if beer isn't your thing. I was a little surprised that they'd raised the buffet price considerably between my two visits - $10.99 seems steep to me for lunch. It's delicious, though! I'm going to start with the food is GREAT! I usually order to go and it's ready pretty quickly which makes it convenient during my lunch breaks. I always order the butter chicken because it's my absolute favorite! And if you like spicy like me which is super hot then the 5. Is great!! Will warn you, it's really spicy!! It's kind of expensive for the servings but since the border is closed this fulfills my cravings every time and location is convenient. I would give 5 stars but the customer service can be worked on. The last time I dined in we were sat right in front of the register and not sure if it was the owner but a male who served us stood at the register the whole time & that's not much distance and it was very quiet since we were the only ones dining in. It felt super awkward even having a conversation with my friend because it's like we had an audience. I've gotten feed back from others and got the same input about customer service and friendliness. For Indian food, this place is pricey. The amount of food you receive just doesn't equate to what you pay. Having said that... I'm still giving this place 4 stars, because the food was pretty darn authentic and delicious. *Veggie Samosa - your standard samosa with a unique twist. This one had toppings! Every samosa I've ever had has been deep fried, stand alone, with some sort of dip on the side. These were plated, topped with chickpeas, some sort of sweet and sour (tamarind?) sauce, and a cream drizzle. The samosas alone had a spicy kick that we all loved. 5 stars. *Chicken Tikka Masala - absolutely delicious. They offered this in different spice levels from 1 to 5. I ordered mine as a 3... not at all spicy. Next time I'll ask for 5. The creamy, tomato sauce with all the standard Indian spices... over top the basmati rice... amazing. No leftovers. Minus one star as the chicken chunks were a bit over cooked. 4 stars. *Garlic Naan - you cant go wrong with naan. If your establishment is named after said food, you better do that item justice. They did it justice. 5 stars. Service was also great. I'm excited to come back for the lunch buffet... unlimited naan sounds like heaven. They offer a great selections of meat items and a ton of vegetarian items that are mouth watering yummy! Customer service was spot on and the food was served quickly and taste great. I've always been curious about this Indian restaurant, finally decided to pull the trigger and give it a shot earlier this afternoon. There are a lot of pros I would give Naan & Brew but I've rated only 3 stars for other reasons. I opted to use GrubHub's services for my order and upon checking out the restaurants online menu versus the delivery services menu there were some minor differences. I proceeded to call the establishment and just inquire about certain menu items. The customer service I received over the phone from Prab was phenomenal, she was so pleasant and accommodating! I continued to place my order and had purchased an appetizer, plain naan, half portion of fish pakora & the prawn tikka masala. Once my order was delivered I was very confused to be staring at a very tiny brown paper bag that was left on my doorstep. I opened the bag up and was pleasantly surprised to how well packed everything was inside. As I unloaded my order on my kitchen counter it became very obvious that the servings were very small hence the tiny brown paper bag. To say I was disappointed is an understatement..I've tried several other Indian restaurants in the Bellingham area that serve similar dishes and are comparable but Naan & Brew seemed to be a bit more on the pricey side. It definitely didn't match the portion size that's being served. I paid $21.99 for the prawn tikka masala and it contained only 5 pieces of prawns. I understand that seafood is pricier than other choices of protein but it's other competitors are charging on average $17.99-$20.99 for an entree that contains at least 10 prawns. It was nonetheless a delicious curry but I will not be ordering it again as I don't believe the price reflects fairly. The half portion of fish pakora contained 4 pieces..that was another disappointing surprise. I'm curious as to how many pieces the full order contains. Overall, I believe this restaurant has great potential with wonderful spices and flavors they offer but it again boils down to the portion you receive versus what you pay. I paid over $50 after tip for my meal this afternoon and felt it was not adequate. read more

Where do I begin I've been eating at some great Indian restaurants in London and New York for over 50 years. The garlic naan was the best part of the meal. The lamb biryani was way over salted to the point where it was basically inedible. The rice in that dish was soggy and overcooked. My chicken tandoori very bland was so undercooked it was pink and cold inside. I was afraid to eat it for fear of contracting salmonella. The chicken samosas were smothered in cold chickpea sauce that made the samosas cold. Service was mediocre at best and the place was only 60 percent full. It seems like most of their business is doordash as we kept being bothered by the drivers walking in and out leaving the door open which made the whole dining experience uncomfortably cold. I don't recommend this place at at all and we will not be going back. read more

Naan and Brew is a tiny, unassuming place on a fairly busy corner in Bellingham, I've seen it many times while hanging out at Boundary Bay but never have I ventured inside. Finding parking was a challenge but we managed. We were early and the restaurant was quiet. After being seated we were greeted with menus and ordered a couple cocktails. My husband ordered a Tanqueray and tonic and I had a Piña Colada on the rocks. For some reason the server made my husband a double Tanqueray Martini. Bizarre. He is shy and drank it without complaint. (I would have sent it back) On to the meal. I ordered the Chicken Saffron and hubby ordered the Majestic Chicken, we added an order of garlic naan as well. The food came out fairly quickly, piping hot and fragrant. My dish was luscious and rich, cherry red saffron strands floating amid savory spices, almonds and cashews. I could have licked the bowl, it was that good. My husband's dish was spicy with a deep tomato and chili gravy that was wonderfully creamy and tangy at the same time. The naan was fresh and flavorful, perfect for sopping up the sauce. While the food was delicious, I wish the portions were larger. I felt the prices were reasonable enough but I'm not used to paying separately for naan. Most places serve their entrees with rice and naan. I am giving Naan and Brew 4 stars. I will be back because the food was excellent, the restaurant was spotlessly clean, and the service (apart from the drink mix up) was good. read more

We have ordered so many different dishes here. The Garlic Naan is to dye for!! The rice is perfectly cooked. We had the Goat this time around. It was tasty with a few bones. We ordered a chicken dish that was only on the buffet for awhile but customers liked it so much they added it to the regular menu. IT WAS AWESOME!! It was our fave this time around. We have had prompt service every time. A nice clean establishment. It has its busy times but most times we can walk in and snag a table. We have had to wait a few times for about half an hour. For starters we had the vegetable combo appetizer-which was amazing, I was impressed with the seasoning of the veggies! It was a cold and rainy evening when we decided to check out Naan & Brew. Parking was easy, on the street. There were only a few others in the restaurant. Service was fast and friendly. The food was great! We had Saag at a 2 and the Eggplant Bharta at a 3. There were 3 in our party and we had leftovers to take home from the two dishes. So the food is plentiful. We also had Naan and (no, not brew) Tandoori Roti, both of which were very good. We had a guest with us from Southeast Asia and she very much enjoyed the flavors. We will definitely be back! The main thing missing was ambience. There was a football game on the tv, which I guess is just the thing everywhere now, but it was on mute. And there was no background music. It doesn't need to be loud but it would be nice to hear some music instead of the kitchen... or awkward silence if that's your situation. read more

Food here is great! But prices are steep. I went here for a late lunch/early dinner this weekend. We started with the paneer pakoras. They were delicious, the sweet sauce they were served with was the perfect complement. However, at almost $10 for 3, I felt like they were overpriced. I split the kasturi lamb curry with my boyfriend, we figured that it would be huge at $18. Nope! I'd consider it a small portion even for one person. It was super yummy though, rich and flavorful. We also ordered garlic naan, which was tasty and good deal. The atmosphere here is a bit lacking, kind of generic and bland. Considering their prices I'd expect something a little nicer. My go-to is the butter chicken. And the food is bomb. One of the best butter chickens I've ever had. The garlic naan is awesome, although it's texture unusual. The staff is always really friendly too. However, you are really hungry you can find better value elsewhere. The portions do not have a lot of chicken, and are small in general. If you order 2 entrees, they only give you 1 entree's worth of rice...and they charge you extra $$ if you want more. If anything, a restaurant with their prices would at least give you enough rice. I've only ever been for the lunch buffet, but it's a great deal and quite convenient to downtown. For $10, you can eat till your heart's content from the (albeit small) buffet, and they bring you out a basket of naan. It's a little steep, sure, but if you can eat more than $10 worth of food, it works out :) While more Americanized than other places in Bellingham, the butter chicken is so delicious. The dishes rotate, and I've yet to see saag, but there's typically tikka masala and a spicy tandoori-style chicken. There's a full bar, though it's called Naan & BREW - so enjoy a beer with your lunch! read more

For our first time of take out from here, we loved it. We only had two dishes, the chicken tikka masala and the lamb karahi, both at a medium level of spice. My husband's chicken t.m. was one of the best he's ever had--excellent flavor, level of spice and the chicken was tender. My lamb dish was not one I've had before. I really enjoyed the flavors and the lamb was excellent. Ordering was simple via GrubHub, and it was ready at the time requested. Parking was easy to find, and it looked like it would be easy to park in front to run in for pick up. Next time (I'm guessing soon!), we will dine in to check out the service and bring friends so we can try some more dishes. And I will make sure to try their naan! read more

First visit to Naan & Brew en route from Seattle to Whistler. I am usually wary of Indian restaurants in smaller towns but this place is a gem. Definitely try the stuffed Naan. Stick with mild if you are sensitive to heat, the medium spicy tends towards hot. We had the dal makhani, paneer pakora, muttar paneer, plain and mixed veg naan, and raita. Really enjoyed our meal and we will add this place to our road trip restaurant rotation. They were almost completely full at 6pm on Friday Presidents Day Weekend - a good sign. read more

AVOID. Massive rip-off and owners are excessively cheap and unkind. Ordered two basic chicken entrees delivered, so am out fifty bucks. They were unusually small servings for $20 each and quite light on the chicken, mostly sauce, but ok whatever. My family is hungry so it's time to dish it up. Pulled out one tiny container (about the size of a woman's wallet) of loosely packed plain rice to go with these two packages of sauce with a couple meat chunks. Definitely not enough rice to serve everyone a portion. So I get in my car and drive across town to get more rice from this place so my family isn't sucking their entrees through a straw. I explain and they say they gave me the correct portion. Frustrated and hungry I offer to buy a container of rice. They wanted $8 for another tiny package after I drove 15 minutes on an empty stomach for this. And they were incredibly rude about it. Forget it. Overpaying for mediocre food in small portions is one reality we're all getting used to in these times, but don't mess with my rice to entree ratio when all you're serving is a hot box of bland yellow sauce sprinkled with chicken. So many good restaurants have gone under in the last couple years. This one actually deserves to close. read more

This place has been one of my favorites for delivery during the Summer of COVID. Their Samosas are wonderful. The Samosas themselves have a delicious filling (both the chicken and veg). But the part that has turned this into an addiction are the chickpeas and sauce on top. I could eat platefuls of just that. Naan & Brew is located in the Bellingham downtown core at the corner of Maple and Railroad...right around the corner from Gruff. The room has large windows and high ceilings that allow in plenty of natural light...and great people watching if you are there on Saturdays when the market is on. While not a fan of buffets, we read the reviews and decided to stop by. While there were limited options in the buffet, they had the items we were interested in...butter chicken, pakoras and fresh naan. It also included chai. The pakoras and naan were quite good as was the kheer (rice pudding dessert). They bring the naan fresh and warm to your table...very nice. Unfortunately the butter chicken was not great nor was the chai. No issue with the service and we liked the cleanliness of the restaurant. It was a positive food experience but we have no plans to return. read more

My new favorite authentic spot! Naan & Brew is a great little place to dine in and relax. A quaint little corner restaurant with a full bar. Authentic Indian food! The naan is soft, warm and tasty! The garlic naan is just that and then some! Tara took care of today and even helped us with a few recommendations! Everything was tasty! We ordered Veg Pakoras as an appetizer, Kashmiri Curry, Karahi Chicken, and the kids had the chicken Tikka and Naan. It was a great Sunday lunch with the family. This place did not disappoint! The server was super nice but there was only one person running the whole restaurant! The food might be good if you're drunk but used salt and burned chicken in place of actual seasoning. Almost 100 dollars for just a few dishes and drinks, and something in the food caused me to have a horrible allergic reaction for several days. The food was expensive and not well crafted. Chicken Tikka was rubbery and the grill tray and vegetables were soggy and soaking in oil. Other dishes were a complete salt bomb which I didn't get at all. There wasn't much soul or flavor in the food, so maybe that is why they saturated it with salt. Service may have been good if 1 server didn't have to cover the entire restaurant and all of the takeout orders. Dinner was $90 without alcohol, any appetizer, and without dessert. A fresh option in the central district of Bellingham, just a street crossing away from the Saturday farmers market ... N&B has a great selection of Entrée and appetizer items ... i prefer "Karahi" style gravy and chose lamb stew and vegetable Biryani. (Karahi is a style of making curry that I use predominantly in 32+ years of cooking indian, it's a drier, thicker, and semi spicy mostly made of thick onion gravy and warmed by cored-and-seeded Serrano peppers, garlic, ginger and red pepper powder). So I made a tough critic for the lamb dish -- for one, the meat was scant or about 10% of the Stew which is a big no-no, since the gravy is drier and thick, it should be about 80%. The karahi gravy contained too much veg pieces and little gravy, that was watered down by tomatoes. So 2 star there. The biryani was made of fresh and good quality Basmati rice and veg was plentiful, however flavor was flat and did not have the regional ethnic tastes to identify it, mostly the western india bombay or punjabi style or central india rajasthan type. 3 star on that. Their style probably caters to the local western palate, but i have no doubt the locals would gladly adapt to authentic styles and tastes -- given a chance. read more
