Best Indian food in the area- we live in the north county but my husband and I will come up with ANY excuse to come down to Bham to eat here or get takeout. The lunch buffet has never disappointed me, but the food really shines when you order from the menu. If I lived closer I would probably survive entirely on mango chicken and garlic naan. Other favorites: the chicken or fish tikka masala & vegetable samosas. The ambiance and service of any given restaurant don't mean very much to me under most circumstances unless the place is dirty or the server is outright rude or neglectful, so I suppose take my opinions with a grain of salt, but Naan & Brew is meeting my expectations just fine here. If you care about aesthetics, well, it's a little bit plain inside- but it's clean! I was also pleased to see that they dressed the place up a bit over the last year, with more art on the walls. I have to say I thoroughly enjoy a well priced Indian buffet and this one is the tops! Not only does the lunch buffet come with several different options to choose from, but it also comes with a beverage of your choice, chai tea, and naan (garlic is extra- but worth it!). The arrangement of options were plenty and delicious. Including, butter chicken, rice, a cabbage medley, chicken masala, cabbage fritters, and unlimited naan! I hate leaving bad reviews but this place was overwhelmed and literally never delivered my meal. After 3 of our party of 4 got their dinner I was told it would be a few minutes for mine to come. Well a few minutes became a long time and everyone was done. At that point the waiter said it was free and he'd bring it to go but I was so pissed I said keep it. First time in my life I have literally not received my food in time to eat it. What was delivered was tasty but I felt totally disregarded which is a terrible feeling when you are dropping $100+ on a meal. This place needs to step it up. read more

My fiancé and I just ordered from here on DoorDash and we were somewhat disappointed. Two of the items we ordered were missing (not sure if that's the restaurant's fault or Door Dash's). His butter chicken and my coconut curry chicken were delicious, but the portions were TINY--worth maybe $10 or $12 a piece, not the $17 we paid for each of them. The Peswari naan was also really yummy, but we were sad that we didn't get any of the regular naan we ordered. Once restaurants are open again, we may check it out and see if things are any better in person, since what we did get was so tasty, but we definitely won't be ordering delivery from here again. read more

First things first- this is the only Indiana buffet that I've ever had them make me fresh Naan! That was the highlight for sure! I do feel like every Indian buffet should do that! Next- the buffet had a good mix of dishes, but it is on the smaller side for sure. Third- they kept the buffet pretty well stocked, although at times they were out of things but they quickly would refill them. One exception, they had ran out of plates when I first went to get some food, and I had to wait a little bit for them then to hand dry them. Lastly- overall it was a good experience and the food was good. My waiter Drew was great! My complaint was that one of the waitresses kept talking about things that should not be talked about in front of customers while I was eating my food. Fantastic place. Went on 03/02/17 around 6pm based on a review on yelp. Was blown away with how good it was. Waitress was very happy. Which for me always starts the meal of right. Ordered three items off the happy hour menu. Chicken Pakoras (deep fried chicken bites) - 5/5 amazing spice level and the breading was the right level of softness. Gobi Pakoras (deep fried cauliflower) - 3/5 was ok. Good taste but some of the cauliflower was crunchy and the breading was gooey in places. Garlic naan- need I say more 4/5 the yogurt sauce was a little watery Chicken curry- Was very tasty with a wonder spicy aroma 5/5 Lamb wrap - Amazing can't put into words how great. First cheapest meal at $9.99. The lamb just melted in your mouth with a wonderful spice combo. Best part was the wrap... naan bread. My partner and I came in here with two friends a few days ago just at opening time and got the buffet. There was a single waiter on and he was friendly and had a good sense of pacing with bringing out naan bread and refilling our waters, bringing the check, and so forth. Everything was delicious and I don't doubt that I or we will be back again soon, probably somewhat often. My only gripe is that everyone at the table was either vegetarian or vegan and that boiled our options down a bit. With the buffet, I could get rice, pakoras, and two different types of entrees, though for the life of me, I can't remember what those two selections were now. To be fair, meat eaters also had essentially two entree options, so the pickings were fair enough, though I would've loved to have a bit more of a selection and have been to other delicious Indian buffets with more selection. Still, the quality of the food and the atmosphere were enough to warrant a totally satisfied five stars. The naan delivered hot to the table was especially delicious and there was masala tea and a sweet and rich rice pudding to be had as dessert. We lingered for probably fifteen minutes after we'd collectively paid and we didn't feel rushed along at all. I think the ticket came out to $10 a person which is about a dollar less than I was expecting, so that's a plus as well. As I said, we'll definitely be back and I hope that experience will only add good things to attach to this review. I might even go back tomorrow, now that I'm thinking about that naan again.. read more

I came to this place on a Saturday for lunch after its grand opening. Parking was particularly hard to find since the Farmer's Market was taking place across the street. The place was surprisingly empty consider it's lunch time in a prime location. Perhaps word has not spread about this place yet. We chose to have the lunch buffet, which was $8.99 for a reasonable selection of food. The first batch of rice was a bit hard and undercooked. However, the following refills were much better. In terms the other food, I thought it was average. It tasted like any other Indian food that you could get at a restaurant. The tandoori chicken was a bit on the dry and chewy side. However, their sauce made up for the lack of taste in the chicken. What I also liked about the place was that it was very clean and brightly lit. The owner was social and friendly to us and came to our table to ask how the food was multiple times, almost to the point where it was borderline distracting. However, kudos for him on trying to get feedback and establish good customer service. The server appeared to be a bit lost on where things were (i.e., we asked for napkins and hot water and it took her a while to find it). I feel that all of these minor issues will be ironed out over the course of time. In the end I would have rated this place a 3.5 and with rounding making it a 4 (giving the benefit of the doubt since the place is so new). read more

The food is very tasty! be careful in ordering spicy as their Indian Spicy is way too spicy. We go with medium. We have done Uber Eats and went and ate at the establishment the other night. My son left his wallet on the table and they had it locked up and everything in tact! Very much appreciated that nothing was taken out of his wallet. I'm a meat eater, so everything was available to me. My sister went a little while back and because she's a vegetarian, was rather limited in her options. $8.99 includes naan and a beverage (soda or masala tea). Have to update my review for takeout buffet. My coworkers and I started coming to the buffet when they opened and it was $5.99 with a large compartmentalized styrofoam container. It was a steal of a deal, which owners knew and slowly the price went up by a dollar every couple months. We finally came to grips with the hefty $11.99 price with Naan and the half size container. BUT today's to go after a couple months was shocking. She rang up $8.75 and I thought WOW, they're coming around, but then proceeded to hand all of us a 3x4....3x4!!!! container, again HALF the size of the other reduced container and for my male coworkers not enough for a full meal. Sadly will no longer be coming back for the buffet, and find it hard to come back in general as Indian takeout always tends to be minuscule, but this was crazy. read more

Naan and Brew is our favorite Indian restaurant. We live in the neighborhood and eat lunch or dinner on a regular basis. We don't eat a lot of meat but the tamarind coconut prawns and the Daal Tarka are two of our favorite dishes. And their naan (plain or garlic) is the best I've ever had. I came here simply because I heard the food was delicious, even though my first experience was when I called for take out they weren't answering phone calls. The food lives up to the reputation, I just wish they answered phone calls. (Take out customers are easy money. No dishes or table to clean after, no wait staff time to pay, and simply another chance to gain a long term customer. ) The samosas are delicious, the butter chicken is the best in Bellingham, and the heat levels aren't outrageous. A level 2 was a good straight up mild. I have been to most of the Indian restaurants here in Bellingham and this one is by far the best in dishes and flavor. I am also very happy they are mindful about the micro brew explosion here and offer a good assortment of local breweries on tap. I'm not going to take off a star because of the one incident because there should always be room for improvement. But if you want a delicious authentic Indian meal, this is your place. I also recommend their chicken korma. Cons: unfortunately, they use styrofoam for when you get leftovers packaged up which is why I give them not a perfect review. Giving this place 4 out of 5 stars for a couple of reasons. While they say they are a full bar, they didn't have the capabilities to make my top two choices of drinks. Also, the heat index wasn't hot enough - definitely didn't match the number of stars requested for each plate. With all that said, the food was still very delicious. They offered a healthy serving of basmati rice with the dinner plates. They had a variety of options on their menu, to include a section for non-meat-eating peeps. Their naan bread is the best in Bellingham, and everything came in a timely manner. I also think the layout is great, the atmosphere has a laid back feeling, and the location isn't bad as well. One thing is lacking for sure - a seating/waiting area. It's not a very big place, so make sure to expect to wait and or be ok to walk around downtown till a table becomes available. I took my Daughter to Naan and Brew for her 17th Birthday. She has eaten there before and had a good experience so it was her request. I love good Indian food and was looking forward to it. Alas, my experience was not as memorable. First annoyance...and completely outside the control of the restaurant...parking. Typical downtown 5:30 dinner time parking, which is to say take your blood pressure medication in advance and pray for parking Karma. Upon entering after a several block walk, the restaurant is nicely decorated...but not really...Indian. Honestly you could put a burger or steak or bar or any other kind of restaurant there and it would fit right in. Now I'm not saying I require full blown elephants and other decor...but just a few touches might be nice. It seemed kind of...Bellingham generic. Was greeted at the door and quickly shown a table and drinks were ordered. I ordered a Mango Lassi, one of my favorites..and my daughter ordered a lemonade. The waiter asked if I wanted whip cream on my Lassi to which I said No. Some time passed and our drinks arrived and my Lassi...yup, whip cream. Now granted it *was* good...not fully watered down with Ice as you sometimes find at cheaper Indian establishments, this tasted good. Then again it was $7...with whip cream. We ordered. My daughter ordered the Butter Chicken...which she has had before and loved...and I ordered the Chicken Korma, level 2 spicy. I ordered a plain Naan and a Garlic Naan to go with. When the food arrived, first thing I noticed, portion sizes were a bit on the smallish size considering the price. But, sometimes smaller is better if the quality is high. The meal came with a bowl of long grain rice. Now Rice is the foundation of an Indian meal. Subtly flavored Jasmine rice compliments the flavors of the main dish. Alas, this rice was too subtle. It was frankly pretty tasteless. It just was...there. Then there was the Korma. Good flavor, but no way that was level 2 spicy. It didn't have any hint of spiciness...at all. I wanted just a subtle bite which is what you should get at L2. Zero. Mind you, the sauce was good...not great...but good. But it was the Chicken where it all fell apart for me. There was plenty *of* chicken, granted. Plenty of dry, tasteless chicken. Dry. Tasteless. Chicken. Really? Okay...but then let's turn to the Naan. After all, it's the first thing in the name of the restaurant, so the Naan should be kick butt. And good Naan is the stuff cravings are made from. It has mass, it has flavor, it can be a meal all by itself. It could single handedly make up for the parched bird. This Naan? Meh. It's was thin. It was flavored...but more from the salt on the Naan itself. The actual dough was...Meh. I ate it. It was serviceable. And unfortunately, that's kind of my impression. It's serviceable Indian food. Last but not least, after finishing, the waiter brought the check and asked if we wanted to take the rest home. Yes please. For $60 for two people with tip...and mind you, no alcohol as my daughter is too young and I do not drink alcohol of any kind (HATE the Taste) you'd think he'd box it up for us. Nope, we got brought a piece of tin foil and a styrofoam box. DIY. For $60. Yeah. If this had been a $30 meal for the two of us, that would have been requisite for what I got. But for the price paid, unfortunately I probably won't be back. read more

We did take out from here. The food was fresh and prompt. We got 4/5 spice which was a bit much. Next time i would go with a 1-2 on the less spicy dishes and at most a three on the spicier ones. One disappointment was the size of the raita. If you are going to be this spicy you can't be stingy with the raita. A ramekin of yogurt shouldn't be the serving size for the table. read more

So far the best out of the 3 Indian places I have tried in town. They legit have good Naan, which is a relief considering it's in the restaurant's name. I've only gone for buffet. It's like $11.45 after they add tax. The naan comes out hot and fresh, so don't complain if it takes a little time. The vegetable dish seems to change, but the consistently have pakoras, rice, 3 vege dishes, an alt protein dish (sometimes fish/lentils), tandoori chicken, and butter chicken. They always have kheer for dessert and have a nice selection of sauces and chutney's at the buffet table. I think there is also chai at the buffet, I have not investigated the warm jug... Good solid flavor, has the depth of spice you want in Indian food. Nice chewy fluffy crispy naan. The spice I would rank as mild, although some things have a little more kick than others. Awesome friendly service. They have lots of brews, I don't drink, so I can't report. Lunch buffet gets busy between 12-2. But we're in Covid, and it's most important that they can sustain their business and if I have to pay a bit more for a bit less, I'm good with that. Indian restaurants in America typically follow these rules: 1) They are expensive 2) Although tasty, the food is oily 3) They have a minimal beer selection Naan and Brew breaks all these rules (well, during Happy Hour anyways...$2 off all appies and drink specials)! After our initial visit, we declared N&B to be our fave Indian place in Bham. In addition to the above, they have some creative dishes and drinks as well. Try the fried cauliflower with some kind of yummy red sauce for example. The garlic Naan was hot and crispy, and the main dishes were all right sized. Veggie samosas are better than the chicken ones. Can't share much more after just one visit but let us add that the menu and ambience were beautifully designed (ignore the gray box comment I read earlier). Tara our server was awesome. I have eaten here many times. There has never been a dish I didn't like. It was the first time however I ordered from the menu since Covid 19. Because it wasn't from the buffet I could get it as spicy as I wanted. The waiter (owner?) warned me against a 5 and he wasn't kidding it was delicious and spicy. As my daughter and I waited for our order I spoke with the man about the pandemic and listened to him talk about his concerns for people and keeping them safe. I really like hearing restaurant owners taking this seriously because it also reassured me that they take other healthy kitchen measures seriously as well. read more

This was a really good restaurant. Me and my dad went here on a Saturday. That's when the farmers market is in session, and even then this place wasn't busy at all. We decided to try the buffet which had a huge assortment of various meats and veggies. It offers a healthy and diverse experience. I've come to really like the style of Indian food and this place enhances that. We also got the Naan bread which was nice and charred, and had awesome flavor. If you're looking for some tasty indian food, and a buffet that fills ya up to your liking, I'd definitely check this place out.
