Chicken Tikka Masala
Julie H.

Food 5 stars! Price 5 stars! This establishment is located on the basement level of southland mall. I'm so glad we passed by it and decided to try it. Me and my family have only tried the chicken tikka masala and the lamb curry both of which are super delicious and flavorful! I love how fresh and hot the food comes out and you can choose the combo with rice, naan and a drink for 4 more dollars I believe. The price is super affordable and worth it for the quality and quantity of food you get. I actually managed to finish off my whole order LOL it was that good. There's also lots of space all around for seats!

I love this place so I'm not sure if this time I got a bad order. I always get the garlic naan, tikka masala chicken and an order of the paneer. Normally one order can feed two people but this there was 6-8 pieces of chopped chicken various sizes in it only. It was majority of sauce. I'm glad I ordered the paneer or we wouldn't have had enough food. The naan was super thin in the middle that it burnt and broke off. The taste was still incredible and I hope I just received an off order. Service was a bit slow as it took longer than normal.

First time at this mall! This restaurant is a good bang for your buck. I had to share with my sister because the potion was so big. The combo comes with a drink. I upgraded to garlic naan. It was around $14 in the end. It's not my favorite chicken tikka masala, it was a little tomatoey and sour for me. I like a more savory flavor. But for the price I think it's not bad!

Hot spot my favorite

This place is a hidden gem inside Southland Mall in Hayward. Naan N' Curry has quickly become one of my favorite spots for authentic Indian and Pakistani food. The dishes are flavorful, fresh, and truly delicious. I'm a huge lamb lover, and here the lamb is on another level. Everything is cooked perfectly, but my absolute favorite is the lamb curry. The flavor is rich, comforting, and beautifully seasoned -- every bite feels like a warm hug. Their garlic naan is also amazing -- soft, warm, and full of flavor. Honestly, I could eat it by itself because it's that good. Another thing that deserves five stars is the service. The cashier is always kind, patient, and respectful. They greet you with a smile, and that makes the whole experience even better. Overall: Delicious food, excellent service, and great prices. Highly recommended.

Heard from a coworker that this place was pretty good so I tried it out. They have lunch specials that seem like pretty good deals but I went with something different. The place is located in the Southland Mall's food court. I ended up getting a lamb tikka masala with a side of rice. You get a full carton of rice for $2.49. Alongside that, a pretty decent sized container of the tikka masala for $9.99. Most other places charge $15+ for the same. I thought the sauce itself was super flavorful. You can definitely taste all the spices added, and it actually has decent heat to it. The lamb was not tough, though not super tender. I would say I just wish there were a few more pieces of meat since it's mostly sauce, especially since half of one of the pieces was just fat. Overall, I think this place is super affordable and tastes pretty good. It hits the spot and is super quick to order and pick up. I'll definitely be back to try other dishes and get the samosas too.

Naan 'N' Curry is by far the most popular option in the Southland Mall food court, offering Indian and Pakistani entrees and combos at affordable prices. The key feature of this stall is the tandoor oven, in which meats were freshly roasted and naan breads were freshly baked. I tried the Palak Paneer, a pureed spinach curry with cubes of cheese, and the Chana Masala, made of chickpeas in a spiced onion curry. Both of these items were nicely spiced without being too salty. The Chana Masala was on the greasy side, but the chickpeas had a pleasantly soft texture. Everything went nicely with the freshly-baked naan bread on the side, which was both crusty and chewy. Overall, this was a great option that went beyond your typical mall food court offerings!

I haven't had the food from this place for awhile. It was just a bit out of my way. I ordered fish tandoori instead of my usual lamb tikka masala and lamb biriyani. The combo is reasonable for the portion. The counter person was nice and he was also good cook. He even offered me the green spicy sauce which was new to me. He also recalled that I was a regular there. Thank you very much for your attentive to regular customers. I will continue enjoying your food.

Lamb Biryani

I have been here about 4 times now, and the food never fails to impress me! I have brought my family and my friends to this spot and they also agree!! The food is flavorful, you can taste the spices they use, and you know it's fresh food. It takes a bit in regards for waiting time, but That's because the food is made to order (I feel like atleast.) The service is also really good! They all work like a fine team serving customers nonstop and they all look like they're in love with what they do. My usual order is the lamb biryani. The portions are huge for its price. Like, where can I get this much food for this price nowadays? I've also tried their Tikka Masala and obsessed with dipping their fresh naan in the curry sauce. So delicious! I will be a supporter and if they were to run a whole restaurant in the future, best believe I'll be one of their first customers!

I forgot the name, but it's a spicy chicken
Kyra M.

They're really good. every time I crave for Indian food, I go here. the only thing I hate is the waiting time. if you plan on coming here, make sure to place your order ahead of time, then do all your shopping because you're gonna wait a loooooong time.

We got the pani puri, the samosas, and we both got their lunch combo. The pani puri was like eating stale tortillas, like they bought the economy pack and will keep using them regardless of freshness. The samosas were good, not really rememberable or better than other Indian food spots. The bf got their butter chicken and the sauce was good. But I don't go to Indian places to get the butter chicken. I actually don't remeber what I got for my lunch combo, but it wasn't anthing to write home about. Pricing was okay given it was the lunch time special pricing. Honestly the atmosphere felt like a family shop where no one wants to work there but it pays the bills. There's a counter filled with unlabeled treats. They looked good but I had no idea what they were. Service was the minimum which doesn't really bother me but some people enjoy it. Felt really cramped filled with tables and people who think they're having an exotic lunch instead of McDonald's. This place is not for me and after I told by bf this he agreed. Kinda hard to find, it's like a blink and you miss it. Parking is sparse, I parked down the street.

He seemed snappy when I asked to bring the roti first as an appetizer...(we were hungry) and he just said "it's coming". And sure enough we didn't get it as an appetizer but came with the rest of the food. Here is where the negative experience begins. We got a lamb curry when we ordered a lamb biryani. Instead of apologizing for the mix up, the server took no responsibility and said it was our fault for saying the wrong thing. I said there was absolutely NO way we said the wrong thing. He still tried to argue and say he repeated the order twice (he didn't). I said look man, it's not my fault you messed up, we would never order that. Then, we got the mixed tandoori grill and there was a HUGE hair sticking straight up. I didn't get to snap a picture. This server really asked if we wanted another one... He did eventually say his bad for the mix up and did bring us another naan basket for free so I give him credit for trying to make it right after the fact. But then the check came and he bypassed the tip after I tapped. He said, "the tip is for the restaurant, I only take cash." Like wow, not even the opportunity for me to tip the restaurant? And to expect everyone to only tip cash for him? Food was for sure amazing but this server really needs to get trained on service. To not give the customer an opportunity to tip the restaurant is unfair for the workers. Edit: I had to take another star off because when I got home to eat our leftovers I found ANOTHER hair literally embedded in our chicken! Absolutely disgusting...

This exceptional establishment has become my go-to destination for experiencing the genuine flavors and aromas that transport me back to cherished memories of home-cooked meals from years past. I discovered Flavor of India several years ago, and since that initial visit, I have never once been disappointed--not with the food, not with the service, and not with the overall experience. What makes this restaurant truly special is the remarkable consistency they maintain. Every time I walk through their doors, I know I'm in for an authentic culinary journey that honors traditional North Indian cooking methods and recipes. The heart and soul of Flavor of India are undoubtedly Pawan and Gurudev, the dedicated staff members who don't just serve customers--they welcome guests like family. Their warm hospitality creates an atmosphere that goes far beyond a typical dining experience. They remember regular customers, take time to explain dishes, make thoughtful recommendations, and genuinely care about ensuring everyone feels comfortable and well-cared-for. This personal touch transforms a simple meal into something meaningful and memorable. The restaurant's physical space itself contributes significantly to the overall ambiance. Abundant natural light floods the dining area, creating a bright, welcoming environment that feels both refreshing and inviting. Unlike dimly lit restaurants where you strain to see your food, Flavor of India's well-lit space allows you to fully appreciate the vibrant colors of the dishes--the rich reds of tandoori preparations, the golden hues of curries, and the fresh greens of chutneys and garnishes. Adding another layer to the sensory experience, the restaurant often plays bhajans--devotional songs that provide a spiritual and cultural soundtrack to your meal. These traditional hymns are a true blessing, creating an atmosphere that feels authentically connected to Indian culture and heritage. The combination of soulful music with the aromatic spices wafting from the kitchen creates a multisensory experience that engages not just your taste buds but your entire being. Whether you're seeking the comfort of familiar childhood flavors or exploring North Indian cuisine for the first time, Flavor of India delivers on every front. The authenticity of the food, the warmth of the staff, the inviting atmosphere, and the thoughtful cultural touches all combine to create a dining experience that nourishes both body and soul. This is more than just a restaurant--it's a place where tradition, hospitality, and exceptional food come together perfectly.
