I went to them with a request to rent their party halls. The owners are very accommodating and they work with you to help you hold the event. Their catering menu offers many varieties and there is something for everyone. Again even with menu selections they offer you ideas based on the kind of group you have. Probably one of the best/authentic desi food I've had at any Indian-Pakistani restaurant in the area. The food is true to its most authentic form, not overpowered with spices, just right. It's human nature to take the good things in your life for granted. That's what I was thinking tonight while eating yet another delicious take out dinner from Mughal. I think it's close to 4 years now that we have been ordering takeout from this place, 1 maybe 2 times a week. And in all these years I have sort of come to take this restaurant for granted. It's the consistency you see. Every single meal, whether it's take-out or dine-in, is top notch. The flavors are always amazing, the portions are always huge and the owners/servers are always kind and friendly. Whether it's Chicken Haleem, Goat biryani or any one of their curries, the food always hits the spot! We spent over $2k at this place for an event , and their main event planner has ZERO clue on how to work with customers. First he makes you believe he's being super kind by giving you a discount but then certain food items you ordered never show up and his point is "we never charged you for it." My wife and I were mistreated at every step of the way. Never again will I do business with them. For all my future events i would go every other spot in Bay Area but Mughal. Not to mention he speaks very poorly to customers. Genuinely impossible to work with him. I'd rather spend 2x more and be treated fairly. read more

Came across this place as its located next to Annar Afghan which i indulged in the other day. Since i was looking for spice, i decided to try this indian/pakistani restaurant located in the Lucky's/Nation's/Popeye's shopping center. Called in and someone promptly answered the phone and took my order. * Tandoori khazana - mix of chicken, kebabs - chicken perfectly cooked and not dry * Vegetable pakora - still crispy when i got it home (potato, zucchini, fennel) * Lamb biryani - aromatic, flavorful with pieces of lamb (be careful of the bones) accompanied with tamarind, mint chutney and raita Customer service great...though i was told 20 minutes, i arrived in 25 and waited another 5 minutes...not a big deal, was offered complimentary chai. Place is huge with tables covered in white tablecloths, modern, brightly lit with an attached lounge with ever changing light colors...pretty cool. Gentleman who toook my order offered to carry my order and walk to my car...that was nice! Will definitely return as its now one of my fave Indian places after Favorite Indian...i do hope this place gets more business as this area of the strip mall looks uninviting...not sure why. read more

We came here on our way back from SF because we wanted a spacious seating area that many SF restaurant lacked. I wasn't sure if we'll like the food here (since it has very few mixed reviews) but all 6 of us (and 2 kids!) loved it! We started off with some seekh kabob and tandoori chicken legs, the waiter was very informative about the portion sizes and suggested what will be a good order for our party. We also got the classic chicken tikka masala (hard to mess up this one!), lamb biryani, and chicken biryani. Both of the rice dishes reminded me of something home cooked and very traditional, which I loved. The seating arrangement was great and the waiter as well as the young women working in the front were very kind, it seems like this is a family owned business and it shows in both the great hospitality and the food. Theres's a little chai station that you can help your self to after your meal which is a nice touch. Overall, this is a great spot for take-out or family gatherings and the food is amazing. Unlike many other Pakistani restaurants that offer a watered down version of desi cuisine, this place reminded me of what traditional Pakistani/Indian food should taste like! The best part about this restaurant? The portions were big (especially the biryani) and the cost is reasonable. We paid around $100 for 6 adults, 2 kids, had left overs, and we had ordered some take-out to take back home for 2 others too. So it was about $10-12 per person. If you're around this area, or like us enjoy SF otherwise but don't care to sit in tight little corner restaurants, come here! read more

Enroute to home from a tiring tournament in Hayward were looking for a decent Indian restaurant to try shrimp masala for my son. Came across Mughal right near Hayward entry to 92W...was skeptical considering there were no patrons. To our surprise the food turned out tasty although had to wait some time - which was worth it. Once you step inside you notice a clean dining atmosphere, some Bollywood film music in the background, and a free Chai station while you wait for your food. Eats: I ordered the chicken Tikka Masala lunch special, wifey ordered something that wasn't even on the menu, which they custom made for her!!! We shared the veggie pakora appetizer and it tasted fresh and light. We had to get to go boxes because we couldn't finish the huge portions. We immediately Got Our Water , We got our food every thing was tasty 1st mistake ( we ordered Garlic Nan but he brought us Plain nan) but that was ok with us we didn't complained . it happens. after eating our starters , Achari chicken i grab biryani. i put some of biryani in my plate and gave it to my friend when he start putting in his plate he saw long hair in it!!. EeEEwwwWwWww !!!! we call our server and Showed him that long hair and ask him if he can give us replacement or take it out from our bill . he said letme talk to my manager. he went inside the kitchen and asked his manager and his manager start shouting and saying tell them they should show it before eating it , we can't do anything now !!! Mughal was a great find! A wonderful menu of standards plus a rotating list of more exotic specials, Mughal delivered tasty dishes and very friendly and attentive service. The spices were flavorful and not overwhelming, and reasonably priced courses served in playful dishes adding a fun aesthetic to the table. The lighting was a bit too bright and felt antiseptic, but it lit the very clean restaurant well. Some gentler lighting would help set the mood to match the great food and service. This place gets 5 stars in my book. Amazing food, service and it's really clean. What more can you ask for?! The restaurant looks like it was partitioned off from the banquet hall. The restaurant was huge, bright and clean. A lot of space between tables. It was a little awkward at first but when the food starting coming out, the restaurant layout didn't even matter anymore. The first time I ate here was with my parents, brother, sister, brother-in law and 2 kids. We had dinner and everything we ordered was wonderful. Plus we only spent under $60 and had plenty of left overs. I came here again for lunch with my husband. Their lunch specials are really amazing. So much food for under $8 per combo! It was such a great deal. The chai tea was great, it's self serve but unlimited. They also have it unsweetened so you can make it as sweet as you like. Really great idea. I can't complain. The food was amazing, I ordered Beef Nihari & Chicken Kabob & Garlic Naan. It was so delicious, my friend enjoyed the chicken kabob, while the Nihari was my favorite! The perfect amount of spices and salt, hands down the best Nihari i've had in the longest time. The customer service was the best, the sweetest people, and very kind. Very gracious host and polite people. The food is excellent and I've been to a ton of Indian places all over the US. Places in Houston are plentiful but they tend to decline after a month or two.
