My husband and I did a lot of research for a solar installation company. We wanted a local company who could offer quality products, good service, and a reasonable price. After comparing 6 quotes, we decided to go with Nabu because they offered the best value. We worked with Harsh, who was very communicative and helpful throughout the process. He was knowledgeable and friendly, even offering to visit our property when we expressed concern about the cramped space around the main electrical panel. He confirmed that his team could work with the space confines and also checked what kind of roof tiles we had (concrete). In terms of speed of installation, Nabu moved far more quickly than we anticipated! After we signed the contract on Jan 21st, our solar system was installed within 2 weeks (work happened between Feb 2nd-5th). City approval happened 1 week later (on Feb 12th), and PGE permission-to-operate came on Feb 22nd. We were very pleased to see the solar system up and running so quickly. However, after 1.5 days of working well, the system suddenly stopped producing. I contacted Harsh and his team members and they responded right away. By the end of the day, they had figured out it was an inverter malfunction. They contacted the inverter manufacturer and arranged for a replacement to be shipped out. About a week later, after Nabu received the replacement inverter, they sent out a technician to do the repair and get our system up and running again. Our system has been functioning well ever since. Top shop. Highly recommend Harsh and team (Jose, Hussein, Aditya, Kishan). Zeroed in on Nabu after an extensive, over a month long research. I spoke with at least 10 vendors. Shortlisted Semper Solaris, NRG, Nabu, and a local installer. Nabu was clearly the winner in my detailed evaluation. Semper had great reviews in our neighborhood but I didn't like their pricing, hardware, timelines, and responsiveness. NRG provided the same hardware as Semper for nearly 20% less price. But their implementation time and responsiveness was even worse. But I primarily decided against them as they are only a marketing company. They outsource to local installers. Also they were upselling a ton. The local installer (who actually contracts for NRG) and Nabu were my final shortlist. But by now I was quite clear with the hardware and my other requirements. Local installer was basically a one person show. But very responsive. Good pricing. Choice of hardware. But I was getting all this with Nabu as well. So why go for a 1 person company? Nabu it was. And a good decision it was. It starts with Harsh. He is an engineer and also their head of marketing. Super responsiveness and reachable. Highly technical and knowledgeable. He has been just a call away over the last two months. One might find him opinionated on his recommendations but if you have done your research, it is hard to argue against what he is saying. And, honestly every installer I have spoken with anyways have their own preferences. Harsh just has it with solid data and technicals. Not mere words "our hardware is the best". Design team is Aditya and folks. Very responsiveness and work closely with you. Took time to reason me why this design is better over the others, including the one I proposed. Very accommodating, patient, and yet fast. Approvals were fast. Jose, Hussein and team enters for installation. Finish in a couple days. Very nice bunch of people. I did not go with Nabu based on my experience with them over their initial consultation. Their communication was poor. I reached out to them over Yelp. We agreed on a time to talk but my assumption was that they would come to my place to look at the layout like all the other companies. The yelp provided schedule even says "arrival time", maybe that is on yelp and not Nabu. Either way a hour into the 2 hour window I give them a call and they pickup. They explain that they were going to call but they can talk now. Ok. I explain that I can talk but I have a baby in my arms because I am on paternity. They insist I grab my laptop so I can facetime with them and show them the things they need to see. I tell them again I have a baby in my arms. I instead email them pictures of what they need to see. During the conversation they ask me what others are suggesting. I tell them I want to hear their offer without the setup or pricing of what others are suggesting. He suggests that he just wants to know and pushes more. There were more issues but the talk was a long time ago and I cannot remember them all. I can say that as soon as I hung up I knew I would not go with them based on that conversation. They called a few weeks later asking if I have made up my mind. I told them I was going with someone else. They asked for some feedback on why I decided to not go with them. I gave them a frank layout of how I felt leaving our conversation. They were pushy after getting this feedback saying they were not doing the things I said they were. I left that conversation in the same way I left the first conversation. Not being listened to and being pushed around. Maybe they do quality work, maybe they don't. I have no idea, but their communication is poor and that is something I require from people I work with. read more

I'd probably give 3.5 stars if I could. Got the job done, but took a long time, and some hiccups. Describing some of the good things later in my post. We signed a contract at the end of August. They told me the job should be done by September or October, but they finished the installation in late February (6 months since signing the contract!). During that time I was paying electric bills, of course, and the tax credit benefit was going to be diminished for the next year as well, so this delay was added cost. There was some confusion with the number of floors of my house, possibly my fault, so when someone came to inspect the roof, they didn't have the proper ladder to go all the way up, and they just used satellite images. This then affected when I wanted to make a couple modifications to the design proposal, and they weren't sure it would fit, so they were saying no to one of them, and the other one would increase the cost. At this point it felt like I just had to agree with whatever they wanted to do, just to get it done: they refused to send someone to inspect the roof in person again, and then they were not willing to make these changes. It sometimes required several weeks or months to get a response or an update. Sometimes I got back a "let me check with the team" response, and sometimes not even until I started calling and messaging more insistently. In the end they did make the change that would supposedly increase the cost a bit, although I never got confirmation, and also I had accepted to go with their original proposal, so I don't know if it was a mistake from their part, or they were willing to do the changes in the end, especially considering it took so long to get it done. On another good point, not sure how many providers would have done this, they agreed to use a patio/deck that i have in the back of my house above the garage as well as the porch at the front, to bring everything up in two steps for my 3-story house, which might have otherwise required to rent a boom lift (not sure). ~~ I'm realizing I got a system much bigger than what I needed. This was to some extent my fault and the fact that I didn't have a full year history of my electricity consumption (new house), but their guidance was misleading, as they were suggesting a bigger system more strongly than other providers.~~ UPDATE: I'm now coming to a full year of service, close to my true-up bill. I ended up getting a plug-in hybrid car, which raised my consumption considerably, even tho I charge at work as well. And it's looking like I'll still be paying ~$400 of electricity for the year at true-up. On average I probably charge about 7-8 hours x 1.3kWh, so 9~10 kWh per night. My system size is 4.4kW (11 x 400W panels) for a ~2400 sqft house with a hybrid car and 3-4 people living in the house. (No electric stove or water heater, those run on gas). Our solar ( 6.03 Kw) was installed and became operational on 2019. The steps from Solar Panel requirement to going operational was well handled. Will, who installed the panels , co-ordinated with roofers and had the panels installed on time. In late 2020 our inverter (Solar Edge) stopped working - I notified Nabu energy and they were quick in responding - worked with solaredge, had new inverter shipped and delivered. I am sharing one of the best business experiences my family has ever had; and it was with NABU Energy. We were introduced to NABU and spoke to Mr. Keith on August 26th; shortly thereafter we entered into a contract with NABU Energy for the purchase and installation of our solar system. The system was turned on, on October 20th, less than 2 months later! We did not go into this quest for a home Solar system blindly either. Both my wife and I researched the company; we obtained 3 quotes for the system and spoke to company representatives from those who provided quotes. NABU Energy was the only company that used product produced locally, the staff was very professional, and they had engineers on staff and available to design my system and answer questions. Every step of the way we were provide with information and kept informed on the progress of the installation. This include design, pulling permits - which they handled, purchasing the equipment, installation, notifying PG&E of the system installation and requesting access to the power grid - which they handled, and educating my wife and I on the use of the system. The staff installing the system took pride in the work they performed. They were on-time, work diligently to complete the entire installation in two days, they were very meticulous in the installation of the equipment, and the product used was top notch - aluminum racking system to connect the panels to the roof of my home and disperse heat, Solaris Panels, power optimizers to move power from the panels to the inverter, etc. There were no surprises either. The quoted price is what we paid. They identified potential problems with the installation and advised on how to mitigate those problems. For example, due to the age of our roof and the composition (tiles) we were told to expect tile breakage. We had a roofer on stand-by to make repairs, which were needed. They even provided a realistic timeline for the project from start to finish and they were will within that timeframe. Quite honestly, we could not be happier. We did a ton of research before choosing a solar company, gathering quotes from multiple places, and are very glad we went with Nabu. Harsh really provided the most information, openly sharing technical specs and encouraging us to review the details (I'm an engineer so I could follow everything). He gave a lot of his time to make sure we knew what we were doing before making decisions. After reviewing many options, we confirmed that Nabu's plan called for high-quality equipment at better prices than others. Installation was smooth, system is working great. Harsh even offered some good advice on managing electricity with PG&E's pricing system. I saw a couple other lower reviews, seemingly around the same time I went for installation (signed late 2021, installation was early in 2022). At the time I was warned that 1) Covid supply chain issues had begun and 2) due to PG&E pursuing NEM 3 at the time (a failed attempt to really lower the value of solar in California) demand had spiked. These caused challenges for me as well but I could see that it was happening for anyone getting solar at the time. After reviewing several quotes, I decided to go with Nabu. Why? Because not only their quote was best among all, they were using LG 380 series panels which has a good rating. In my neighborhood Nabu had done atleast 7-8 installations and I could see the difference with Nabu and others, You don't need to put panel skirt to hide bolts and railing, their panel sits pretty close to roof that you don't see any bolts or railing from the front. On the installation date, Bill and Pedro showed up on time and did fantastic job, they were very informative and answered all my questions patiently. Nabu Energy installed a battery backup system for my 9 kW solar roof. The main problem we faced was that the inverters, made by SolarEdge, didn't work. SolarEdge stonewalled us for about 9 months, but Nabu kept after them until SolarEdge finally sent us working inverters (but only after a complaint to the Better Business Bureau). Nabu spent enless hours dealing with SolarEdge, and Nabu even repaid me for electricity that I used because the inverters didn't work. Nabu went way, way beyond what was necessary, and I am very grateful to them. I recommend them without reservation. read more

First, when I spoke to Harsh, he gave me solid information and guidance to help me decide which panels and battery storage to choose. I spent more than two weeks researching solar panels and batteries, so I had a pretty good idea whether or not I was being told the truth from the various companies I contacted. Harsh was truthful, which allowed me to put my trust in him and Nabu Energy to do the job. The second reason I'm giving 5 stars is because the end result turned out fantastic! My panels are generating a lot of energy and the battery backup system is working perfectly! There were many bumps along the way. I want to be completely truthful and not just talk about the good stuff. Nabu Energy is like many other small businesses competing against the big corporations. They are priced extremely competitively.... trust me. But in order to be so competitive on price, they are lacking in support staff. They have some problems in the way of communication because of this. But the products I was able to obtain are high-end, top notch and at a great price, and the installation team did a fantastic job! Jose was the foreman on the job, and you would be very lucky to have him handling things. I was very impressed with all the work that was done. Although the project dragged on months longer than it was supposed to (due to supply chain issues), I can't complain about just how good of a job this company did. You will have to decide for yourself if you can deal with some communication issues from a small company, in exchange for what turned out to be (at least for me) an outstanding final result at a great price. Horrible experience....talked with Harsh who is a smooth salesman. Signed a contract where the terms were all messed up and asked for them to change it to the correct language. Harsh says to change the language would cause an escalation in price. Keep in mind he constantly tells you that prices increase incrementally due to raw material price increases. This is a tactic to put pressure on people to sign with them. Anyways we ended up canceling the contract and have since signed with another solar installer. Just to give reference, the quote with the new installer was good for 30 days (no mark ups in a few days if you don't sign). Long story short Nabu is the classic rush you to sign company. read more

Harsh from Nabu energy helped me with Solar installation. I selected them after getting quotes from 7-8 companies. I liked them because their cost was better by 10-20%, many friends in the community recommended him, and the details provided by Harsh were much more than other providers. We have tall trees in our backyard that creates shade on the roof. Harsh followed the standard procedure of going through our current and future usage and proposed approximate estimates. I wanted LG panels, but he suggested solaria due to the shade and size system. He thoroughly explained the pros and cons of single String Vs. micro-inverter; ultimately, I decided to skip micro-inverter. The design from Nabu was most optimal compared to the other 4-5 quotes I got considering tall trees. Installation completed in 2 months as per promised schedule. There was some delay in starting the system due to delays in permit visits from the county and PGE; the Nabu team followed up with both the county and PGE to resolve uncertainties. Nabu team and Harsh followed up with me to ensure the system was working fine once PGE made the required changes. Harsh also helped me evaluate if there was a need to trim down trees to increase solar production. His recommendation and data-driven approach approach saved me $$$$ tree timing costs as solar production ROI would not cover tree trimming cost. Getting the solar installation is complex. There are too many companies, there are too many options and there are too many products. I'm really happy that I went with Noble energy. Harshadeep visit my house and he explained me everything about the solar: the companies which make panels, the reals that hold the panels, the options to choose the inverter, the battery and the right size that is required for my house. The price point was much better than any other solar installer that I have met with in the past. Harsha also told me very clearly about the solar incentives that I can get from the government. He did not try to sell me more capacity than I need. So I got the right size of solar capacity installed. I have future proofed it for my electric car. Installation process was very quick but we hit road blocks when it comes to PG&E. I needed an electrical panel upgrade and the PG&E took a lot of time to come and disconnect the power. They also canceled the appointment twice. But the NABU team kept following with them to get the appointment. PG&E has its own priorities, and they are not under control of your installer. Made an appointment for a 1 hour telephone call at 10:00 in the morning. Got a call, rep was very informative, seemed very helpful and disabused me of many of my misconceptions that were imbedded in my initial project specs. Admittedly, I am not the type of client that just accepts whatever is put in front of me without many questions, and my application does have some nuances that are not addressed by the typical installation. About 30 minutes into it, the rep said he had to get off the phone because he had another call scheduled (!?), and said he would call me back at a later date. I sent him an email acknowledging that his comments had changed my view of the project, and that an amended set of requirements were in order. We started contract with Nabu last December and they finished installation in the February and the System got live in the march (after inspection and PG&E approval). We evaluated several 4 solar installers and picked up Nabu among them. We wanted competitive price while not compromising on the product quality. We also wanted someone whom you can call and get a response right away. Our installation was delayed for the first month after signing the contract and we had to follow up (reason: labor shortage and people calling sick due to Covid).
