Loaded nachos ($10.50), tortilla chips covered in melted queso, guacamole, jalapenos, pico de gallo, and diced chicken ($2 extra)
    Eric S.

BORRACHO NIGHTS A rainy evening couldn't dampen our spirits on the first day in San Juan. As one of the first places we visited on our vacation in Puerto Rico, local guide Nichole C and I met some friends here on 12/28/18. While we waited for them, a few bottles of Medalla (okay, 6) and a few flavored margaritas got us started. The loaded nachos ($10.50) were delicious. A mountain of tortilla chips were topped with melted queso, guacamole, pico de gallo, jalapeños and your choice of protein ($2 extra). The elotes (4 half-cobs for $4) were rolled in cotija cheese, mayo, lime, salt & pepper and struck me as a good value. Ever the fan of condiments, I was elated to see an ample selection of sauces in squirt bottles, hanging on the wall in ice buckets. They included: tamarind, salsa verde, spicy mango, pineapple, sweet heat, and coconut. I tried them all, loved most of 'em. They have karaoke here and some folks get really into it. While most contestants were obviously drunk amateurs (like me!), a few were legitimately talented singers and got the crowd cheering. It can get loud and more than a bit rambunctious on nights & weekends, but it's all in good fun. Bread = 4.5 Circuses = 5 Nacho Libre has plenty of outdoor seating.....in fact, the only part that's "indoors" are the gender-neutral bathrooms. Everything else is exposed to the outside environment; they've got a roof and overhangs but no walls to speak of, so pray for good weather if you decide to come here. * TL;DR * Thanks to some awesome '-OKE' and the company of (new) friends, I'm willing to overlook the unusually high cost of the nacho platter. Cocktails were a decent value and beer was cheap. I attempted to take a photo of their wall of salsas, though at that point I was too far gone off the deep end......it was a massively illegible blur. Though I've yet to find it, there exists somewhere a fine line between having enough "liquid courage" to sing in front of a crowd, and being straight up 'borracho'. I tried to walk that line and fell face-first into DrunkCity, population 1. 'S all good, though. Nacho Libre definitely gets my recommendation. Arriba, abajo, al centro, y adentro!

This place was awesome. While in PR, I was looking for a place that had decent tacos and by all the places I tried, this was definitely the winner the entire trip. Their sauces are AMAZING! the red one was particularly my favorite because it had a hint of coconut.

We waved as we walked in to a waiter, pointed to a seemingly available picnic table, and he waved that we were good to go, so we sat right away, at 7:45p...after that more tables opened up. Drinks: 1. Pina colada - no bueno...like a coconut ice, not pina colada. 2. Passion fruit juice with fresh mint - delicious! 3. Cherry juice drink with alcohol - wife liked it, and I thought it was good. Appetizers: 1. Beef empanadas- I thought the crust overpowered the meat and onion, but daughter and wife loved it. 2. Nachos - terrible. Chips were stale and cheese/beans covering was bare, but then they gave us additional refried beans in a little cup, and straight I thought the refried beans were delicious. 3. Baha fish tacos - phenomenal!!! Entrees: 1 Chicken fajitas: disappointing. The spicing was off, on the chicken, and the guacamole was mostly sour cream. 2. Steak fajitas: very good and way better than the chicken Service was quick and the staff knew their stuff, but it took a long time to get the bill because other tables came in.

The server was accommodating and got us a seat for our party of 4 very quickly. I believe it was a one man show that night and he was running between all the tables, but was very efficient and had a great attitude which made any waiting we might've had to do worth while. The inside was clean and had a good vibe with nice music playing. Our table shared as an appetizer the green chile ceviche, which was very good and could itself be enough for a main meal for two people. My wife got the quesa-birria tacos and I got the governor shrimp tacos. All were great meal choices, the tacos were stuffed with meat and very filling. A great spot for people looking for some tasty Mexican food in San Juan.

Great food! Recommend the shrimp tostadas. The order of beans was also good, reminded me of my childhood meals lol. Space is tight, but you'll get seated quickly as the staff are pretty attentive. Prices are pretty reasonable and the portions are fair.

The vibe was great, the food was fresh and well made, and the service was friendly overall. A fun bonus: we actually got to see the famous rock band Maná dining there, which was such a cool surprise! We ordered quite a bit--the chips and queso, chips and guac, hot sauce, tamale, rice and beans, kids cheese quesadilla, and veggie fajitas. The kids' quesadilla was a huge hit with our 5-year-old (who is a picky eater and devoured it). The veggie fajitas were decent and tasty, though for the price I would have liked a bit more on the plate in terms of sides. There was a small hiccup where cilantro was accidentally added to one of my dishes, and it did take quite a while for the corrected dish to come out, but they were very kind about it. That said, everything else was enjoyable and the overall experience was still very good. Overall, a great spot for solid Mexican food in Old San Juan with a fun atmosphere and fresh flavors.

We were craving some street style tacos and saw the great reviews from my fellow yelpers! We enjoyed the shredded tinga tacos and the carne asada. I preferred the carne asada over the shredded tinga tacos. The queso was pretty good but probably would have been worth it to add the chorizo for a little extra flavor. The chips were a little thicker than I prefer, but definitely hand made in the restaurant. The service was great, all of the employees were so nice and we got our drinks and food quickly! Seating is indoor and outdoor. This restaurant would be good for larger groups as they have some larger tables. We will be back! There was plenty of street parking, but no dedicated parking lot.

Prices are all very reasonable. Most tacos are around $15 for three and come with a generous portion of rice and beans. The michelada was good and the chips and salsa were a phenomenal app for only $2. They gave three types of salsa, all were excellent but my favorite was the salsa verde. Portion was very generous - it could have been half the size and I would still say it was a good value. Tacos were filling and warm. The rice was a little bland I thought, but was a nice accompaniment nonetheless. The corn tortillas fell apart a bit but the filling was sooo delicious that I ended up just eating it separately. The place itself is really cool on the inside with a lot of interesting art. I wish they had wifi so I could have sat and hung out for a bit! Would definitely go back.

We were brought chips and salsa to munch on while we perused the menu. The chips were stale and definitely not fresh. I liked the salsa, but just a heads up that it's a bit spicy. The food was great other than this. Three of our party had the Tri-Juana which was a taco, burrito, and enchilada. I was told the taco shell was stale, but it was otherwise good. Three of our party had soup (I didn't get any pictures), and they said it was really good. I had the Chicken Enchiladas with Mole Poblano sauce. I thought this was incredible. The flavor was rich, and the shredded chicken was cooked just right. It came with rice and refried beans which were also delicious. Most of us had margaritas as well. Their margarita menu is huge. I had the Caribbean Rita was refreshing and hit the spot perfectly. I would definitely have this one again. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 was because even though our server was very friendly, the service was incredibly slow. We'd been there for 30 minutes before we even ordered our drinks and food. Our server was visibly busy managing many other tables. I imagine the other servers had been cut due to the time of day, but it was frustrating. (That and the stale chips). The ambiance was nice, and the location right inside the mall, close to the airport, was ideal.
