I'm a fan of an old school bakery, this is just like the one I grew up with in my home town. It's not fancy and breaking the mold, Nadine's is reassuring and comfortable. It's not mind blowing it's just really really good. I'm being redundant for a reason, because the tastes that are familiar and the smell of a bakery is something that again gives me comfort in these very difficult times. So here's to Nadine's a weird kind of hero for me! read more

Absolutely beautiful and delicious! We ordered a chocolate cake with raspberry filling for my moms bday and she cried when she saw the cake. Everyone loved it and it turned out more beautiful than I anticipated. Thank you Nadine's! read more

I've tried Nadine's before for a birthday cake and some cookies and while I was not a fan of the cake, I found the cookies nice. However, I went back after a couple of years and got some cookies and was so disappointed. I got a variety of cookies, so we had some different flavors, but ALL of them tastes the same. A chocolate cookie has NO chocolate flavor at all other than a drizzle of chocolate. It seems like they are using the same dough for each cookie but not adding more flavors to add to the cookie type. The cookies are very bland and one dimensional in flavor. A cookie that has cherries and nuts should have those flavors come through but do not. Something has changed. Recipe, baker or process but it's a huge disappointment after spending that much money. read more

Went in on a Friday afternoon looking for a dessert cake for a small dinner at a friend's house. Picked out the round German chocolate cake in the case and an eclair for the road. The eclair was tasteless, dry, and hard...definitely not worth the calories. When we ate the cake after dinner, it was also dense and dry, truly disappointing. I was embarrassed that I brought it, anything from Safeway would have been better. read more

Super cute. I got an emoji cookie that was calling my name and a raspberry tart cookie. Grandma got oatmeal raisin and a tea cake (which she so lovingly allowed me to demolish). We went in later on a Thursday so it wasn't super stocked, but I'll definitely be going back to get more soon. read more

The only Kosher bakery in Tucson. And they have been doing it for 40+ years. What an accomplishment. I spent more money than i planned to in support, but isn't that what happens in a bakery? Clean surroundings and happy staff. See you next time! read more

Fantastic local bakery! We have been buying delicious baked goodies for years now. And this past Hanukkah they really came through! We've been quarantined and they offered (are offering) curbside delivery on everything, most importantly, challah! We ate their rich, soft, melt in your mouth challah rolls for Hanukkah and they were perfect! We love this family owned bakery! read more

We used to go to Nadines back when Susies Cafe was next door. My husband was obsessed with them. But sadly it has been years since we've gone. We have been missing out! I called in an order for a round challah and a Hungarian cake for Rosh Hashanah. They were super helpful over the phone and made sure to cover all the options of what was available. When I went to pick it up I was sidetracked by all the deliciousness that was on display. Turnovers, strudels, chocolate chip breads, apple horns and so much more. I refrained, as already was picking up a the cake, but I couldn't resist the potato knish. The knish was amazing. Almost croissant like dough, with really well seasoned mashed potatoes filling it. It made for a delicious and filling lunch. The cake was perfect for Rosh Hashanah. Had a cake like bottom crust and a traditional pie top. Filled with apples, raisins and spices. Cant wait to go back next week for Yom Kippur goodies! read more

I did not care for this bakery very much. Everything I got which included cookies and turnovers (cherry) flavorless bland and terrible. VERY expensive for what it was just cheap pie filling no sweetness or greatness and a bunch of nasty no flavor havin cookies $18.. I've never in my life had a cookie so flavorless and bland.. eww read more

Ordered a cake with a 7 layer theme. They reversed the frosting and the filling making it way to heavy and overrun with mocha flavor. What were we to do when we realized it? We served already. Called the bakery, and even with pictures and disappointed customers, they wanted us to produce the cake. The event was a weekend. We didn't save the cake, and disposed of the majority of it. Had pictures even. Also, whoever made it screwed up and it must have been a very $ mistake. It was very expensive and very disappointing, and insulting to boot. Albertsons actually made a delicious cake for us this time, and much more affordable. read more

I recently ordered a 3 Tier chocolate cake for my nieces 15th birthday party. I was pleased with the quality of the cake and the design was very well done. We were asked to bring in the "15" cake topper and silk red roses as well. My only issue was the misleading information about how many guests this large cake feeds. The party had 150+ guests and the bakery made it very clear to me that a single 3 Tier cake would only feed 100 people. I was told that if I had 150 guest I'd need to purchase a 2nd half sheet cake. I did but was very upset after the party to see how much left over cake we had. The half sheet and bottom tier alone was more than enough to feed the entire party a large piece of cake. If you have a 200 guest party a 3-Tier cake is more than enough!!! read more

Happy to see local businesses thrive. I've been to this place a couple of times, at different times of day and they are always busy. Ordered a small cake for my wife's birthday. The red velvet cake is covered by butter cream and cheesecake filling. It was delicious. Also tried the iconic black and white cookie. I've never had that in New York City, but I imagine it would be just as good. Their brownies were also good. Will certainly order future birthday cakes here. read more

Gravely disappointed. I have used Nadine's services in the past and had been very satisfied. This was going to an extra special occasion and I was so busy organizing I had to hand off some of the more tedious details, so opted to order a cake from Nadines rather than bake it myself. We are a very selective group of eaters. My diet is low calorie; low carb and no one in my family eats very sweet. I went in to place. My order: almond cake ( knowing yellow cake would be too sweet). They tell me the only almond cake they have is a petite four cake. I very specifically ask for almond cake and as unsweetened as possible. The day of the event I picked up the cake and it not what I expected - too tall but I thought perhaps they had decided to make more layers than four. Besides it was the day of so I had no choice but hope for the best. We cut into it at the party and I was so upset and disappointed. My whole family was dissatisfied with the dense yellow cake as well. I'm not sure what happened but the cake was dry, too sweet, dense and way too thick for a petite four. It diffidently was not almond cake. The only good thing was the spelling on the cake was accurate. Unfortunately I will not be ordering cake from Nadines any longer. read more

I selected Nadine's based upon other reviews I had read for a birthday cake. It was a gorgeous cake, 3 layers, with filling. I was offered the option of selecting a picture for the top of the cake, to be printed with edible ink on edible rice paper. We all greatly enjoyed it, and the price was amazingly reasonable. read more

I love Nadine's, but disapointed with my half pound of chocolate fudge today. I came in about 11:30 am and there was about a third of their slab left. When I arrived home I was disappointed 3 out of the 4 sides were hard and stale. As much as they charge per pound it shouldn't hurt the bottom line too badly if they would slice off the hard edges before packaging. The next time I come in I will be telling them to slice off before weighing or no sale. Bob B. read more

This place is old school awesome. I got a German chocolate cake for my hubby and it's rich and dense. Super yummy. Surprisingly it's only $15, way cheaper than the grocery store junk. There are many other goodies like cookies, fudge, pastries, bread and rolls. Employees were super friendly and everyone was masked. read more

Nadine's was a diamond in the rough. We were near the Williams center for work and on the hunt for a king cake (Fat Tuesday) and it seemed none of the grocery stores or Target had them. We searched for bakeries and came across Nadine's as there was not much else around. We visited Nadine's and fell in love. The king cake tasted amazing (I could have easily eaten the entire cinnamon cake) and I loaded up on cookies for my friends. It seemed as though they specialized in cakes, as evident by all of the orders in the fridges, but they also had a nice spead of cookies and coffee. The only thing I would say that could use a little improvement is the customer service. They could have been a little nicer to us walk-ins. :) read more

The small pies were all tough strake dough. Hardly any filling. The bread was stale and hard. The cookies were tasteless and stale. I will never go there again. I spent a lot of money as everything was overpriced. If everything I bought would have been fresh and tasty the money would have been well spent. As it was I couldn't eat any of it and threw it all away. read more

Cuatro leches cake!!! Do I really need tp say anymore? Omg. It's like heaven in a cake. Honestly, I've never been a fan of tres leches cake, but this TOTALLY made me fall in love. So disappointed! We recently moved here and finally had the chance for a birthday cake from Nadine's which had come highly recommended. So disappointed when we were ready for it after our meal at the restaurant. The plain cake was so dry and no flavor. The icing was so tasteless and so thick rather than creamy. Even our 13 and 14 year old grandkids said that it was bad. We were told that they needed a 3 to 4 day window for special order cakes and that was met but quite honestly it tasted and appeared as though it had been sitting in their case for 3 or 4 days. Honestly threw more than half away, it was that bad! Sorry one time purchase and never plan on coming back. read more

My daughter was graduating from U of A and we wanted to order a cake to celebrate. I saw all the great reviews and decided to call and place an order. The woman was very helpful and I ordered a marble cake with Bavarian cream. It was delicious and not too sweet. I normally get whipped cream as my frosting, but since we wouldn't have it refrigerated for a while, I did buttercream. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too sweet. The cake was very moist, the Bavarian cream was creamy and not too sweet, the buttercream was nicely done and not too sweet. Definitely recommend Nadines! read more

So I decided I wanted a really good cake at the last minute for my birthday. I didn't want a typical store bought cake, I wanted a delicious cake! Well, I'm still bitter that they tried to charge $150 for a cake before... but they are still excellent cakes. I went in, expecting to spend $40ish for an 8" cake... I grabbed one that was already made, ready to go, plain... $20! It was a really good deal, gave a lot of cake to friends too and still enough to stuff my face. I still won't recommend this place for custom orders. I still they their policies should be re-evaluated... but for quick pick ups, it's worth it and delicious! read more

I happen to be fortunate enough to live just a couple blocks from Nadine's. I've been going there for years. Their quality is second to none today I went in and picked up another small box of deliciousness and of course it didn't disappoint. It's rare these days to be able to go to someplace for more than a year or so, and get the same quality every time. For most it's impossible and for us as customers I think having high expectations only leads you to being let down by other restaurants and businesses in this town it's just the way it is but at the Nadines they do it right every single time for over 20 years, I think they should give classes because obviously they know how to do it right. If it's not Tucson's best bakery, it's at least in the top five,magnificent thank you for your quality and love. read more

This place has the most delicious goodies ever! They are amazing! They make this moist apple cake type thing that is to die for. I usually always get the cinnamon twist thing--it is one of my favorite ways to treat myself! Although--it is dangerous too as I can totally sit and eat the entire thing by myself! YIKES! The staff is always super nice. HUGE variety of things--everything from cookies to pastries to brownies and cakes! The cakes are a little pricey for me so probably will not order one--but would not mind having a slice to try! I jump at the chance to run work errands in that area so I can stop in there--I wish they had other locations! If you haven't tried this place--you're missing out! read more

Michael handled flushing out the details with me and then relayed them to Hannah. I had a specific request for a vegan and gluten free cake. With their recommendation on flavors, we landed on a chocolate cake with cherry filling. Coordinating timing and pick-up was easy and they were great to work with.
