Slipped, etc constantly. 2) Plus they left an oil leak directly into the manifold ( you get above 2 k rpm on the highway so when you come to a stop this huge cloud if oil smoke erupted from my car). 3, tried to charge me 1200$ for a tune up! Which my car didn't need. What I get for being lazy and not doing it myself.. .. And I could go on but if n short it was a horror story. They "do not work on cars older than 2005". This is frankly stupid. It's completely arbitrary as the technology on say, a 2003 cayenne turbo is the same as a 2006 cayenne turbo. This is the case for nearly every generation of German car from that era. Also, many German car enthusiasts have a mix of older and newer cars. Guess you don't need the business! 2. They do "not do modifications". So, a blanket statement indicating no ability to think outside the box or leverage widely known and adopted techniques outside of the service manual. Again, dumb. I realize these are their choices and that's fine, but I also know that a ton of enthusiasts like myself won't want to waste their time on a shop that simply wants to make money on people who really aren't THAT into their cars.

Anyway I think those 2 rules are weird, I don't wanna be mean but just plain stupid too. The BMW dealership in Eugene puts on parts I BUY from outside the dealership and they even SEND ME THE PART # bc they know I can get it cheaper online. It's comical that a dealership is more customer friendly. I don't know man their diagnostic work on my car was good and somewhat cheap, I think for about 2 hours of work they charged me 160 not bad. But those 2 rules just threw a curveball at me that I'm never gonna face or see again. Anyway Versionex shop is awesome they give me absolute 0 problems and they've done a ton to my cars. I did a quick Google search for a repair shop to have my car towed to, and Jerry And Walt's came up as number two under the VW dealership. So I had my car towed there. And I took the train home to California. As it was after hours on a Friday when I had the car towed, I had no choice, but to leave a phone message with the repair shop and hope they would be able to deal with the issue. They were not opened again until Monday and I had to catch the train and be home on Sunday. Saturday morning, I got a phone call from the owner of Jerry And Walt's repair shop. We talked about the issues that my car had and he reassured me that they were fully capable of evaluating and servicing my car and would keep me apprised of the situation. Monday came and they contacted me about their initial review. Then throughout the week they kept me informed of what they were working on and what they found. The service technician, Chris was super helpful and super easy to talk to. Their paperwork system is all online and easily accessed through a message link. It was easy to see their diagnosis, their services, their repairs. And they even inserted pictures and diagrams! We were not able to pick up the car for two weeks, but they had it stored for us behind their security gate. We were completely confident that our car was in good hands. Thanks to all the technicians that worked on our car after our unfortunate engine troubles, ending our vacation early.

This turned out to be not true. I was picking up my husband from a place west of Eugene when smoke started coming out from under the hood. We got a AAA tow (from Randy - really nice guy) and my first thought was to take it to the dealership. Randy suggested considering Jerry and Walt's. I wasn't too happy about having a serious car problem when I had had it serviced at the dealership not very long ago so I agreed. The radiator was cracked - this was the cause of the smoking. But J&W did a thorough inspection and there were a huge number of things broken, leaking, etc. So I was rather appalled but grateful that the problems had been found and were being fixed. I am very fond of my little Sportcross - and there were very few of them made. So thanks heaps to Jerry and Walt's!
