I would highly recommend! Jerry and Walt's customer care and auto repair was fantastic. My VW GLI's check engine light came on 10 minutes north of Eugene. I did a quick Google search for a repair shop to have my car towed to, and Jerry And Walt's came up as number two under the VW dealership. So I had my car towed there. And I took the train home to California. As it was after hours on a Friday when I had the car towed, I had no choice, but to leave a phone message with the repair shop and hope they would be able to deal with the issue. They were not opened again until Monday and I had to catch the train and be home on Sunday. Saturday morning, I got a phone call from the owner of Jerry And Walt's repair shop. We talked about the issues that my car had and he reassured me that they were fully capable of evaluating and servicing my car and would keep me apprised of the situation. Monday came and they contacted me about their initial review. Then throughout the week they kept me informed of what they were working on and what they found. The service technician, Chris was super helpful and super easy to talk to. Their paperwork system is all online and easily accessed through a message link. It was easy to see their diagnosis, their services, their repairs. And they even inserted pictures and diagrams! We were not able to pick up the car for two weeks, but they had it stored for us behind their security gate. We were completely confident that our car was in good hands. I have a 24 year old car worth $1500. I'd gone to Jerry&Walt's before and wasn't all that impressed; a replaced a valve cover gasket leaked. They are pricy. That I went back is my fault. This time I asked if they could; 1. Find whatever was making a noise under the car. 2. Install a suspension kit. 3. Adjust the headlights. They refused to install the suspension kit. They refused to adjust the headlights. I had to go back over to the shop because they couldn't find the under-car noise. If I would have approved their suggestions the repair bill would have been over $3000. Better judgement overcame me. I went over there to retrieve my car. They charged $200+ for an unrequested diagnostic. read more

Late afternoon I drove my 2005 Honda Civic EX to Jerry & Walt's when the temperature gauge was on H and steam rolled out of the hood. I knew I had blown the radiator. They also found the car had an oil leak- there was no oil on the dip stick. The service representative advised me that my car was so damaged it was UNSAFE to drive and gave me a ride home. The next day I received a text with an itemized list of recommended service with a price for each item that included parts & labor. I was impressed with the straight-forward list of recommended work and price of each option. The diagnostics and texted list of recommended repairs cost me less than $100. No more vague labor estimates. No more demand for payment upfront like I encountered with the local Honda dealer where it cost more than & $250 for an oil change and they did not find the leak 2 years ago. I have an older Subaru Outback that I'd taken to J& W earlier this year. In August, my check engine light came on and they diagnosed the problem as the car needing the O2 sensors replaced. Their estimate was $2300. Because of the high price, I did some research to see what the repair entailed. Just doing a broad search on the internet, there were various Subaru-related sites that said the cost should be/could be much less than $2,300. So, I called Corvallis Subaru and was told the cost would be $1,300. I went to J & W, and confronted them with the estimate I had received FROM A SUBARU DEALERSHIP. They said they could adjust their price so that I would only be paying $500 more than what the Subaru service was charging. I had a problem which I diagnosed and wrote up a suggested repair. It is a common issue addressed multiple times on the Ford F150 and others on YouTube. After I delivered the van I was called and told I had to have a "certified diagnostic charge " of $149. Having already delivered the van I agreed to the charge not thinking it would be much more over $150. They called back about an hour later and quoted $350. That included two parts and some vacuum line to do exactly what I had told them needed to be done. While I placed the caller on hold for less than 20 seconds to discuss with my wife, I could hear the caller swearing! I decided I'd already basically paid for one or two hours of tech time and another 200 for labor and parts was just outrageous, And said I'd just do it myself. As further insult, they had my car from 7:45 AM drop off and didn't call back till I called to pick up an unrepaired car. Question - how does it take all day to return a car not being worked on. By the end of the day I no longer had a pick up driver and they offered no assistance, so I had to pick up the next day. I waited till parts ordered arrived, upshot: it took me one hour and 15 minutes to install the parts and complete the repair. I have photos and videos. Total cost equaled $45. Including their $150 diagnostic charge, this ran me about 200 bucks. Additional information: "the problem is a ruptured vacuum reservoir". There is no way to know if there is a ruptured vacuum reservoir without removing the unit from under the fender past the fenders cowling. The problem was a deteriorated vacuum line leading to the vacuum reservoir. "Requires removing heater/AC case to access and replace". This was not required in my repair and not suggested by another shop. "Recommend plumbing in new vacuum reservoir and check valve and install under the dash somewhere ". This is a "certified "repair? There was nothing wrong with the check valve. read more

Around the first of December, 2023, I made an appointment for my 2014 Jeep Wrangler with a 3.6 engine at Jerry and Walt's because an engine light came on. I have a diagnosing machine at the house and it took around three minutes for me to plug it in and find out that my oil sending unit was bad. I told them on the phone, when making the appointment, that I wanted the "oil sending unit" replaced. When I arrived at the shop for my appointment, an individual, I believe his name was David, checked my rig out and told me that the engine light was on. I told him I had already confirmed that there was a problem with the oil sending unit. He said they would need to run a diagnostic machine on it again. Their machine found the same problem that I had already advised them of. At no time did he ever advise that they would charge me $269.91 for the diagnosis. Secondly, I wanted the motor flushed. David told me it would cost $248.00. When I got the bill they charged me an additional $74.98 to dispose of my biodegradable antifreeze. I thought that since they were going to have to remove the manifold anyway, that I would have the spark plugs changed. David phone me up and told me that they did not have to remove the manifold to change the plugs. Having the plugs changed cost me almost $700.00 because they did need to remove the manifold to replace the plugs. David said that this is what their "book" said. My book says that thou shall not lie or steal. The worst place to take a car for repairs cost-wise is Jerry and Walt's. I will never take a rig to them for repair or recommend them to anyone. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I came here in October to get my timing belt fixed and the very next day the check engine light came on. I took it back to get it looked at, they cleared the code and said it wasn't a safety issue. Code came back and is basically saying that they messed up the timing belt which is a big issue. I took it back once again and almost let them scam me by charging a 140 for a diagnostic when we already know what the problem is. They are rude and incompetent. Do not waste your money of these people because they do not know what they are doing. read more

Would give zero stars if possible. Charged me 150.00 for a diagnosis. On the print out said I had the truck towed in, false! Said truck would t start, false! Told me on the phone " hope you've got enjoyment out of it because your head gasket is blown! Quoted me 3100.00 to fix it. I called around and got two quotes for 1500.00 to replace both gaskets. Picked up the truck, DROVE it away and had another shop look at it, turns out a couple wires were put in wrong place and firing order was off. Truck runs perfect. How much of a SCAM do you gotta be to do that. Shame on you, feel bad for people who have been scammed by these guys. I call Jerry & Walt's for one job, to replace both Torsion Bars on my Runner. They Stated they could do that job. I had it towed in on the 5th, the day before so if they had a chance to look at it they could just to make sure of parts they needed. On the 6th, they called me and stated that some of the parts, Toyota did not make anymore and that it was going to take almost $2900.00 to do the job to there standards. The Torsion Bar with Wheel Alignment would have been just over $900.00. Which is a good price, but then there was about 1850.00 in other parts added on to the work order, which included Rear Shocks, which really have nothing to do with Front Torsion bars and that was 270.00 rounded down. now they added: repack Wheel Bearings, Wheel Seals, Spindle Bearings, Lower Ball Joint replacement, which is another 1200.00 not including the parts. then there is a matter of the notation after the listed price of $2465.21, Additional Parts 400.00 to order that are ABSOLUTE. If they are absolute, Why aren't they listed in the work order instead of being listed in a generic notation. If you don't know a lot about cars i would not take your car here, even if you Know about cars I would not take your car or truck there. When i called I explain I was on a limited income. They brought me in for an alignment, the technician did not want to align my car after seeing a worn suspension part; after inquiring if they could fix it they kept telling me that it would be too expensive for me and when I explained that price was not an issue and I NEEDED to get it done they told me that they couldn't help me because they weren't willing to obtain the part and another alignment was "waiting" and I needed to get my car off the rack ASAP. I have always had wonderful service from this shop. Had my car towed there in the morning and was driving it home at the end of the day. They even stayed late to finish it (had a alternator installed and they found evidence of rodents, had that cleaned out as well). It has a family atmosphere that you can trust. And they even called to check up to make sure everything was running correctly a week later. I have never had this happen with any other shop. I will be going there for now on. This used to be my go-to automotive shop in Eugene. Always friendly and knowledgable staff and good rates. Unfortunately, the new management seems to have turned this into another rip-off auto shop. I brought my vehicle in after hearing a loud squeaking/warbling noise to get it identified, thinking maybe it was a belt issue. I get a call later that day saying that it was an issue with the water pump (the only good information I recieved from them). They then quoted me just under 900$ to repair it + the tensioner and belt replacement, citing that it would be less labor cost for me. I looked at the invoice they gave me and there was no reduction in labor costs for including the tensioner and belt replacement. They also charged about double of what each part actually costed. I told them thanks but no thanks. Went and bought the water pump + gasket sealant and antifreeze for 50$ and replaced it with my Uncle. Be careful about all the old 5 star reviews for this place, because the new management seems to only care about making money trying to sell overpriced parts and including a bunch of uneccesary work. read more

Took my Porsche to the shop because I heard great reviews about their alignment shop. They aligned the vehicle with no problems Dean is the master for that portion of their business. I was close to my 100,000 mile service and they assured me they could handle the service. During the 100,000 service he informed me that the valve covers were leaking, I took his word for it because the engine is buried by pretty panels that cover the ugly parts of the engine. So I never saw the valve covers. Cost close to $400 additional. $1600+ later they sent me home. My girlfriend didn't want to mention that the service engine soon light came on during the ride home. Wasn't on when I took it in for an alignment. We took it back and were asked "How long have you been without brake lights?" I stated never, why? They don't work now. He was thinking abs module but wasn't sure, also cam position sensor on bank one was reading timing out but he wasn't sure, needed more time. After a week I told Derek to give the car back, we would take it to porsche. At Sunset Porsche in Beaverton they fixed the brake light issue in the first 2 hours, the cam position sensor was mis reading because the cam sensor gear was bent. My service tech said it's a common problem when the valve covers are replaced to bend the cam position sensor gear. (For someone who doesn't know how to work on porsche ) They were able to bend the gear back into place, the alternative was new camshaft from Germany to the tune of $3800. Walts also said that my cam chain tensioner were going bad and it's super expensive to fix. If I didn't repair the engine I would get metal shavings in the engine. I informed him the cam chains on a dual overhead engine are outside the engine, he changed the subject. Porsche never mentioned anything about our cam chain tensioner. Please beware, I have more to say but I don't want to seam unreasonable. Get alignments from Dean, all else try somewhere else. WILL read more

I was parked at Red Barn when I got in my car and started it. There was definitely something wrong, all the warning lights came on and it had no power steering. I went back inside the Barn and asked customers where I should take my car since I wasnt from the area. Three people chimed in "Jerry and Walt's". So I managed to creep down Van Buren the five or so blocks to their shop and Im so glad I did. The woman at the service desk, after a bit of consulting with mechanics, managed to give me a quote and a promise to have the work finished by 5 pm that day so I could drive it up to Portland and be on time for my shift at 8pm. That meant the world to me as I was in the process of trying to figure out if I could get a ride or call off. A few hours later, I recieve a phone call that my car was finished early, and I could come get it. It ended up being a broken pulley and a serpentine belt that needed replaced. I just want to mention how thankful I am that they were so accommodating, flexible and honest. Some of the most considerate customer service in my experience with Mechanics. I am waiting to get an oil change til my next visit to Eugene, just so I can give them my business. read more

I will undoubtedly be back! I drive a Subaru that has a lot of miles on it, and at this point I'm not looking to put anymore money in it. I was a little disappointed when my car wasn't starting (thinking the worst). I brought it to Jerry and Walt's and the service was spectacular. Not only was I in and out within 40 minutes, but the staff was very honest with what my car needed, which ended up just being a new battery. While I was waiting, they came into the waiting room repeatedly to keep me informed on the process, and were very friendly. Derek, the owner came in to chat, as well as Dan, the mechanic who was working on my car. My experience yesterday at Jerry & Walt's was fantastic. I was looking for a second opinion on my 2005 Toyota Sequoia. When I arrived the front desk staff was friendly and organized. They provided a ride home for me after I was checked in and called soon after with great news. The diagnosis I had received from another shop in town was completely false! None of the problems existed. They even checked twice to put me at ease! The service tech did find some routine maintenance issues but, all things that we can do at home. For a very affordable inspection fee I have confidence in the safety of my car and a new shop to support next time I do have any real issues. read more

You can barely buy a candy bar for what they charged me on my alignment : $54.95. Slight exaggeration, but these guys are great. I've used them in years past and checked-in w/ my old mechanics at Wagon Works (a great place for auto repair, honest/fair billing, etc, can't recommend them enough) but they still said Jerry and Walt's were the ones to go to. I told Jerry and Walt's that Les Schwab's said I needed a cv boot - mine was "torn and needed replacement" Shwab's had said. I know better to trust LS, and it was a fluke that I let them even touch my car b/c they are the worst replacement specialists and will always, always find a ton of things that are they need to 'fix' w/ their lowest-quality parts. Jerry and Walt's checked and said it was just moist, they didn't even see a small tear and there was absolutely no need to replace it. When you can find one w/ good references, choose an independent service center always. read more

I'll start off saying that I am an auto enthusiast and a mechanical engineer. When it comes to automobiles, I have a lot of experience diagnosing and repairing all sorts of issues. When I take my vehical to Jerry and Walts, I know that like minded folks will be working on my rig. Whether its my German sports car, my Chevy van, or my commercial truck, they have been absolutely honest and trustworthy. On two separate occassions, on two separate rigs, they have identified a problem, and repaired it at no cost, even after giving me a ride half way accross the county, (loose suspension parts and a drive train issue,) when they very easily could have charged me for their time, or even fabricated a larger problem in order to keep $$ coming in. (Yes, I've been to shops in the Eugene area that did this. More actually than have not. :-( Anyway, The entire staff is genuine, and they didn't treat me as though I knew nothing when I gave them my self diagnosis of the problems. (I was correct btw. What a pleasant experience! We were in town setting our daughter up for school, and her brakes started making an awful screeching sound. The first place we called wanted to replace the rotors, sight unseen. The second place wouldn't give an estimate without an expensive 'evaluation'. Then we called Jerry & Walt's. They politely explained what the most likely scenario was and what it would cost, and then explained there were less likely scenarios that would cost more. Their price was reasonable, they did the work quickly, and they were able to stick with the most likely estimate. I definitely recommend this shop! read more
