They are about the size of your palm, crips with a beautiful craqulin topping and cream that is the perfect balance between rich and fluffy. They sell out so fast, like before 12pm, so you gotta go early. Their eclair is a close second with a chocolate shell and slightly more indulgent cream so if you miss the cream puffs, have no fear, there are still great options. This place is on the side of a plaza, which I passed and nearly missed it, because the sign is not easily visible when driving down. The flavors of these cakes I tried were all yummy, and I especially liked the taste and texture of Hojicha cake! No other bakery like this one. Light enough -you enjoy with no guilt ;-) My absolute favorite, known for their light and fluffy cakes, they have just the right amount of sweetness but full of flavor. For example normally tiramisu tends to be overly sweet but they make it soft, light and the sweetness does not overpower the coffee flavor. I usually order the strawberry cake. I get slices and also full cakes for celebrations. It's always a hit!! For cakes call in advance to reserve. They go quick. The good: This is a small Japanese bakery in a tiny plaza with only a few stores. I got my son's strawberry shortcake birthday cake from here and it was soft, light and not too sweet (ultimate Asian compliment for a dessert). I think their cream puffs are their best item. Do not come here without trying them! I tried possibly 5-6 different cakes here. I loved the crystal gelatin on the Sakura cake. The chestnut mont blanc was also very yummy. I will definitely come back and order cream puffs for parties. The bad: There's no indoor or outdoor seating. It's strictly for buying and taking out. Lots of Japanese cakes are all about fluff and lightness but I think some additional textures or crunch in some of the cakes would add nice variety. Get the cream puffs! They are delicious! After a disappointing lunch on New Year's Day I was pleasantly surprised that there was a Japanese bakery open nearby. We ended up spoiling ourselves and got an entire box of dessert to-go. In total we ordered 4 cream puffs, 1 hojicha cake, 2 roll cakes, and 1 chestnut cake. After devouring one of the cream puffs in the car I immediately went back to buy two more. They were the most delicious cream puffs I've ever had! The exterior had a nice crispy texture and the cream inside was overflowing! So far, I've tried all the desserts we bought and everything was good! The cakes are so light and fluffy, and not too sweet. Nagomi Cake House has definitely made it to my must-visit list of places to go in Gardena! This place is an absolute GEM. I have been here about ten times already and wanted to wait until I'd tried nearly everything before giving my honest review. The people working here are very polite and the shop is always clean. Everything here tastes fabulous, I'm certain of it. I've tried the cheesecake, the chocolate layer cake, a passion fruit dessert, a strawberry roll cake, (and a couple other things I can't remember the name of) and we have ordered whole cakes for family gatherings on 3 occasions; ONE of which (2 whole cheesecakes) was ordered about 72 hours ahead and they were kind enough to make it happen anyway! This cake was lightly sweetened and had a delightful yuzu flavor and candied yuzu pieces in the mousse. Light cocoa cake on the bottom. The mousse and cream was good, but not the best in texture. There was a bit of gelatin in it and the cream was a bit thick. COFFEE CREAM CAKE Layered coffee cream cake with chocolate malt balls decorated on top. Light coffee flavored cream and cake. Overall it was okay, but it was not made fresh, so the cream was thick and the malt balls were not crunchy, but a bit soggy. Not my favorite. CREAM PUFFS One of the reasons I come back to Nagomi Cake House. I love the cream puffs here. NCH calls it cream puff because it's easier to call it that, but this is actually a choux au craquelin. This is a dressed up cream puff with a thin cookie-like crunchy texture on top of the cream puff. It is hard to find any bakery in OC or in LA that make choux au craquelins. There were a few I knew that used to make them, such as Croissants Du Tokyo in Gardena and Domi (which only has this on their catering menu now). Happy that they still have this on their menu. If I wish one thing is that NCH they would add the filling fresh, so it will still be crispier when you eat it. It is still has a light craquelin crunch, but due to the filling, it does get soft fast. The vanilla diplomat cream filling is creamy and delicious and does not have that eggy smell. Light and fluffy with a raspberry filling in the middle. 5 stars out of 5 Chocolate eclair- light pastry cream filling and this awesome chocolate shell on top with little sugar crunchy bits on the shell! Overall, the cakes were soft and not overly sweet, which I really appreciated. However, the chocolate cake and cheesecake were a bit disappointing. The flavors were quite weak -- while I liked that the sweetness was toned down, I wish the fruits or key ingredients were used more generously to bring out richer flavors. This cake shop is kind of hidden with a bunch of other eating places across the street from Lady Bug on Western Ave. When you walk in there's really no place to sit - It's more of a grab and go type of place. On display there are two types of cake - Strawberry Short Cake in three sizes (5, 6, 7 inches) and a chocolate cake in the same three sizes that range from $28 - $46. They also offer roll cakes, strawberry, matcha, and whipped cream that range from $17.95 - $20. They have individual cake slices that are all around $5.50 each and change with the season. Right now they have Yuzu Citrus Mousse and Sakura Mousse. They also have Chocolate Mousse, Houjicha Cream Cake, Lemon Cake, Passion Fruit, Fruits Cake, and Matcha Cream. I bought their 5" strawberry cake and tried their Yuzu, Houjicha, and Fruits cake. The Strawberry cake was so delicious! I mean, fluffy cream clouds with sweet strawberries in every bite, not too sweet, just the right amount of cake. It was so good; everyone loved it at the gathering I brought it to. I tried the Houjicha, Yuzu and Fruits cake the next day and the Houjicha was the best out of the three. It was light and had a good balance of tea flavor and sweetness to it. The fruits cake and Yuzu cake was also good but I didn't care for the tartness of the Yuzu cake and the Fruits cake didn't really taste like anything (but that may be because they want to accentuate the fruits on top). Stopped by to pick up the strawberry roll cake and the houjicha cake. The strawberry roll cake is light and fresh and the bread cake part is so soft. The strawberries seemed to have been in sugar water so it was a little soggy and sweet but still good. The houjicha cake has a layer of red bean cream which is so creamy and light.
