I have been hearing about this place and have tried so many of their items through the years when people would bring them to work or after attending parties and have never come in here - until today! I happen to be dining nearby and noticed that the bakery was within walking distance after my meal. I immediately came in and limited myself to one item this time, and I went back-and-forth along their never-ending display case. I finally decided on the perfect sized carrot cake cupcake. ... REALLY adorable St.Patty's Day themed "goodies" but I was able to stay focused, walk in AND out with JUST what I came for: the chocolate fudge chew cookies... Although I lived in Torrance previously, I had never been here before till yesterday. There is an incredible (sweet) smell as soon as you enter and the ladies come out from what they are doing to take care of every person when the line starts getting longer.... My friend and I love the chocolate fudge chew cookies at another unnamed bakery. My friend suggested I stop by here if I'm ever in the area because she thinks the cookies are "better" here. As you can see this review is long overdue for Torrance Custom Bakery Department based on a few of the pics that I've posted below of the many custom cakes that I've ordered over the last 4 to 5 years; however I've been ordering cakes from Torrance Bakery for atleast 25 years. Let me just start off by saying that the staff is so good at their job that most of the time I didn't even order these cakes in person; literally by making a call to place the order and sending a picture via email. Every person that has assisted me was very polite, patient and knowledgeable to make my order experience exceptional and an amazing outcome for my orders! Now the cakes are always moist, the fillings are very delectable and the icings are perfectly creamy and not too sweet. The entire bakery is a pleasant experience from the deli cafe (great sandwiches, salads, soups, etc...) to the inside of the bakery with some of the best cookies, donuts, cupcakes and single slices of many of their delicious cakes; yes I've tried them all! Street parking is usually available in front of the bakery and there are some tables and chairs outside for a nice quick outside date with a friend. I got a bag of chocolate chip cookies, a buttermilk donut, and their specialty cookies. A little on the pricey side, but their offerings in the bakery are simple but done well So long as if you don't have a nut allergy, you should definitely get their maple pecan chew and their fudge walnut chew. I purchased a cake on 6/13 and picked it up on 6/19 the cake wasn't right but took it because the first time Torrance messed up . I called today to speak to the manager because when we cut it the taste was not good or not the same as previous cakes we have order . The quality of the cake isn't the same. An oldie but goldie here in Old Town Torrance! I've been coming here for a while and every time I have come, Torrance Bakery never disappoints. They have parking in the rear now, which I don't recall if it's new or not. But feel free to check there if you don't find parking in the front. For a Saturday, the crowd wasn't bad.
