I recently visited the Nail Box as I was looking for a new nail salon closer to my house. I stopped by on a Saturday and the place was hopping... I wasn't confident they were going to be able to fit me in for a mani & pedi. The women at the front desk were so kind and they assured me that they could get me in. The Nail Box has one of the nicest spaces on Louisville, with so much seating. I was able to get a pedicure chair and wait while my nail tech finished up with another customer. I loved the atmosphere and apparently so does the rest of Louisville as it was so busy. I will definitely be back! read more

Everyone there is super welcoming all the technicians are so sweet but unfortunately this is the second time this has happened where my nails come out all miss shaped, different lengths, and super thick and bulky. UPDATE: The owner called me wanting to make it right. She was super apologetic and encouraged me to come in and get it fixed/mention it for discount next time. It really showed that they care about customer satisfaction. She totally understood my frustration and was really wanting to make it right. Due to their dedication to customer satisfaction, I will go back! Their response to this really made a difference. Super disappointed with this visit. Normally this place is pretty good. Im really upset that the white in my nails is shining through. I picked a dip color from the fake nails and it did not have that issue, I would never have picked the color if I had been told that. To have the white shine through less, we did four coats of the dip which changed the shade I had picked completely and then the color no longer matched my toes. I feel like they should have warned be that this color was see through or at least accurately represented the color on the nail example. Too expensive to feel this disappointed. 67$ for this altogether (plus then a tip I gave) and not happy. Super sweet people in there but I left feeling so unsatisfied with my nails. Going to get them redone for somewhere else. I showed a picture of what I wanted multiple times and my nail tech gave me the wrong shape, had to ask for them to be reshaped twice. The color was not right, not to mention they feel so thick and bulky. The French tips are uneven from nail to nail and way bigger than what I requested. I feel bad leaving this negative review because they are very sweet but when you're paying $70 for nails, you want to leave at least liking them. read more

First time getting my nails done here and I had a great experience from making the appointment over the phone to the finished product. Sadly, I didn't get the name of the lovely lady who did my nails (was too busy catching up with a friend who joined me), but she was great. I got a full set removed and then fresh dip powder. Upon removing my pinky nail tip, we discovered that my real nail had broken underneath, leaving it very short. Without even discussing it, she put a fresh tip on that nail and shaped it to match the rest of my nails and did not charge me for this. Also, after finishing my polish, she suggested that a gold dot on each finger would really make it pop. I really appreciated the suggestion and I love the result. She also didn't charge any extra for this nail art. I love my new nails and I'll be back! They also have wine and mimosas for purchase, by the way! read more

Getting regular pedicures is something that's somewhat new to me, so I've been trying to check out as many nail salons as I can. So for my latest pedi, since I was going to be near St. Matthews anyway, I thought I'd check out Nail Box, thanks to their great Yelp reviews. And the reality lived up to the expectations. I was happily able to get a pedi with no wait or reservation on a Saturday afternoon. I was quickly shown to the side room, which included about a dozen pedicure chairs. The chairs were comfy and came with the massaging bells and whistles you'll find at other nail salons. And pro touch: When you arrive, you're offered water, coffee, tea or soda. Bags wrap the pedicure tubs, which is shows that they are cognizant about keeping the equipment clean and sterile. And my nail technician, Cici, got down to work, asking me when she needed to move my foot or put a foot back in the tub. I ended up getting a French pedicure, and the price was in the middle compared to other pedicures I've gotten, at $29 for a classic pedi plus $5 for French tips. The pedicure also included a lotion massage, which was nice. And when I was done, I was shown to a row of hand and foot nail dryers. Very important to know before you go: You can't add a tip on a credit card purchase. The clerks explained that this was because the nail techs' tips were being taxed when put on a card. There is an ATM, but hopefully you won't be like me and only have a credit card when you go and no cash, ATM card or checks. I need to go back and give Cici a proper tip, and I'd be happy to enjoy a pedicure from Nail Box again. read more

I purchased my mother in law a gift card from the Nail Box for her birthday, and she went yesterday to get her nails done for the holiday. She wanted to replicate my nails (which are a natural to white ombre) and showed the nail tech, Keith, the images. Keith was unsure of how to do the nails and called a woman over who said the nails could only be done dip powder. Red Flag - this is not true. She was apprehensive about doing dip because she has had issues with dip damaging her nails before, but after being told THREE times that the ombre technique needed to be done with dip, she did it. Mind you, dip is WAY more expensive. When they finally did do her ombre nails, they were just...white. There was no other color or transition. I called today to get this resolved and they said they don't do refunds and if we wanted to get them fixed we would need to pay. No thank you. We'll take our money elsewhere to a place that provides better customer service to their customers when they do a poor job on a pricey service. read more

Never disappointed when I come here! While I don't get my nails done but like 1-2x a year, I always have a great experience when I come. They're so professional, friendly, and welcoming. Multiple positive yelp reviews convinced me to come visit Nail Box! I'm glad I did. I did call ahead for an appointment, but I think I could have just walked in. I got the shellac mani and regular pedi in OPI Cajun shrimp (95). Tina was my technician. She offered me a complimentary drink while you get your services done. She also made sure I liked my color and the water was a comfortable temperature. I think she gave me plenty of time without seeming like she was rushing. I have been twice to Nail Box and there has not been a wait. There are multiple stations and they get you in and out. The two times I went I got the dip (sns) for $35. FYI- if you want to tip you have to have cash. There is no tip line on the credit card receipt but they do have an ATM. The first time I got the dip, it was fast easy and she did a great job. However, after a week I saw cracks and chipped my nail. I was cooking and washing dishes quite a bit due to the holidays but was surprised to see all the cracks on my nail bed in the sunlight. The second time I went the women forgot to use a different color on my ring finger (granted, I did too). To fix it she filed down the nail a little bit and rushed to finish the rest of my nails. This made the ring nail too big and a different color from what I wanted. On the way home I felt the nails and my left hand had lumps and bumps on my nails. Although they are fast and convenient I will probably not give them another try. read more

First time: Lam took care of me. I requested something I didn't get and then charged as if i did. I didn't have cash to tip. And I probably wouldn't have anyway. really cool that T remembered my name when she said bye. 2nd time: my tech was dee? I requested something I didn't get. same thing. No manicure with dip. Im not pleased with it. Last time they charged me for a manicure and dip. I told the nail tech what I wanted this time and she wasn't listening. The lady getting her nails done next to me asked her tech if her nails are dry and the tech said yes but she answered or talked to someone else in Vietnamese before saying so. It wasn't the tech that told her it doesn't work like shellaque to get dip. I had to warn her that it was the top coat and needed to dry. I have been getting my nails done for about 2 years with dip and know the process. But this tech didn't let me go wash my hands after the last coat had settled. It was obnoxious. I asked 3 times do u need me to go wash my hands now?? And she kept saying no. Well at the end she put cuticle oil on me and the dip residue soaked into my skin and i then had to scrub the crap out of my hands to get the dip out. It doesn't look as great as I had hoped and no manicure. The charges were just for dip nails. Still no tip. This is not professional. I normally won't comment on services received because everybody has off days but this is the 3rd time that I left following a pedicure at the Nail Box with a bloody nail that was cut too deep. My big toe was throbbing when I left. Concerned with infection Ive been using Neosporin and band aids.. Ugh... Also, when I got home I noted that nails were cut halfway and miss shaped in some cases. It was quite busy, but they work like a well oiled machine and no one seemed to have a significant wait. Despite the crowd, Jayden took his time and really did an exceptional job with my nails. I am super picky about where to get my nails done. My mom owns a salon (in Evansville) so I grew up my whole life in one. It took me years of living in Louisville before I found anywhere I was comfortable getting them done. I was going somewhere near here previously but the building it was in had a fire and it closed so I needed to find a new place. A friend suggested Nail Box and I decided to check it out. There is a bit of a chemically smell when you first walk in but not too bad and you get used to it. I needed a pedicure and a gel manicure and was able to get seen right away. Update: Ok so, I previously had written a 5 star review a little over a month ago and went back yesterday; unfortunately,my second go wasn't so great... The good: fast, clean service-again I went on a Friday and there was no wait. I very much enjoyed the environment here. The bad: I went with a male friend, and we both received classic pedicures. On their price list the classic pedicure is $29, which is what they charged me but my friend MALE friend who doesn't get polish was charged $32. The ugly: The techs only receive cash tips, so after paying the full amount for services received on my card, I had my tech break $100 and handed him back $20 to tip him. I later realized I only had $60 left from the exchange, meaning he'd only given me four $20's. I know I should have counted it, and that's on me. And it might have been an honest mistake-even though I have a hard time believing that a nail tech who handles cash all day doesn't know five $20's equal $100... I would've loved to have been able to tip him that much ($40) but I just don't have that kind of cash flow. A clean fast establishment doesn't trump dishonesty in my book, so I will not be back. If you go though, count your change! I walked in around noon on a Friday and was taken back immediately. I received a basic pedicure-the nail technician was friendly and did an amazing job on my feet even though I wasn't receiving any extravagant service, and wasn't hassled into any other added services. I have been going to NailBox every two weeks for years. The last year it has completely changed and gone down hill. I've been dissatisfied with the services for a while but kept giving it the benefit of doubt because of its convenience and the time I've spent supporting this business. They've lost their service touch and it is 100% a "burn and turn" vibe and their quality of work has absolutely suffered. I leave with thick nails, bleeding cuticles, and not symmetrical nails almost every time in the last year....with the exception of the few times I called ahead and made appointments with their 1-2 long standing employees who get it right every time. I've finally reached a point where I definitely won't be returning... hopefully they can turn it around and get their steps of service back and hire better nail techs. read more

This was my go to for a long time in Louisville but I won't be going back. Always loved and appreciated them being able to get me in within a couple of days and the ease of scheduling, but the last time I went in to get my dip redone the nail tech used the drill to file off my old dip. She went so deep into the nail bed it's taken months to get my nails back up to strength. It was so bad that when I went to another salon the tech asked who did that to my nails because they were so fragile and irritated. She had to glue pieces back together to help them heal right. I'm really upset with my experience here. The only reason I am giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is because my friends nails were beautiful and the women who did them was very kind. The women at the front were also kind. I was looking for a nice place to get my nails done because I knew my boyfriend was proposing. Vanessa was VERY rough with my hand and jerked it around a lot. She also was filing too hard and it was hurting my skin. Today, my thumb cuticle is bleeding! She also kept telling me my hand wasn't relaxed but I was as relaxed as I could have been. I don't have the most flexible fingers and when you pull one up the others will come with them and I think that made her mad. Never had it been an issue at any other salon.... She was clearly getting frustrated, saying things under her breath and it was very embarrassing for me. She even sternly told me to stop talking to my friend that I came with because she thought I wasn't relaxed enough talking!! I found that very rude. I asked for oval nails and she did almond shape. They aren't even either. One of the nails is at a sharp point. There is A HAIR in my index finger nail and the dip is on top of my cuticles on some fingers. There is also a chip on my thumb nail. I was afraid to say anything after the way she treated me and I cried on the way home. At $52 plus tip I was expecting a lot more!! Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

I went to this nail salon today and got one of the best manicures ever from Katelyn, but the customer service provided by the young girls at the front was astonishing. I finally had the time to treat myself to a study break from the bar exam, working 60 hours a week, and just the stress of 2020 in general. I walked in I was yelled at by 3 people, who were all telling me different things. I was told to grab a pen, sign in, get hand sanitizer and do my temp check. I tried to do so in that order and got yelled at. After that, I was instructed to wash my hands, I have never been there and was a little thrown off by how I was treated so I asked where to go and the young girls at the front laughed at me and said "uhm where the sink is". I have never been so upset by customer service. I am unimpressed by how they "welcomed" me as a new customer. It was unprofessional, inappropriate, and down right rude. Usually when I visit I request Aiden. However, this time I had Kevin... my cuticles were not cut down, massage was too rough even after I had told him to soften up a bit. Had an attitude after I expressed my concerns. Just overall too rough. My paint job was the only decent part of the pedicure. (Even though he was cleaning up his mistake with them long ass finger nails cutting into my skin) It was not worth the $70 + $15 for gel. Next time I will stick to what I know-- Aiden.
