Not all technicians are equal! It's hit or miss. There is one lady who I think might actually be blind. She is very rough, filed my nails so badly to get the gel polish off that they look unhealthy! She ruined my healthy nails! Also, she stabbed me with the nippers and files very crooked. Literally, she can't do nails. She's blind. No lie. I refuse to have her again. I had to stop her after she hurt me with the nippers and asked for someone else. I had to bypass my politeness to demand better treatment. This should be relaxing and not stressful. There are younger girls here who are awesome! I wish it was more consistent, especially for the price. $45 and I need to love it and have it last. read more

The only thing that I would be interested in knowing more about (in hindsight I regret not asking) is sanitation. I received mani/pedi services at Nail Montage for about the last two years. Typically I go during the daytime. For a girls night, I recently scheduled a gel mani/pedi in the evening. Both my friend and I had appointments. When we arrived, we were rushed in and honestly felt manhandled. I had two different technicians grabbing at me. Without asking, they decided to do my Manny and petty in the potty chair. Typically, you are asked if this is OK or you request it because you are short on time. I wanted a basic gel color on my toes but I wanted a design on my nails. Other than a quick exchange when we first walked in, no one stopped to ask what either my girlfriend or I actually wanted done. So unusual considering you are typically approached about add on details such as nail design. At one point, I finally had to ask the nail technician to stop. I explained to her that I wanted something different then she was doing. Her response was that of annoyance. The whole experience was poor. What was even worse, was my mani/pedi usually lasts for weeks. I was back within four days to have three chipped fingernails fixed that you could see occurred from poor application (I.e., and cover the nailbed). They fixed those nails for free. That evening I found one of my toes no longer had any color on it. I really couldn't make a point of going back in again. Time is too precious. I was also disappointed when a few days later I went on a trip and found that my feet were bothering me because they hadn't trimmed my toe nails at all. All in all just really poor experience after spending $100 and both my girlfriend and I felt very stressed out after we left because of how we were handled. read more

Nail Montage is a clean, detail oriented nail salon. It's the only place I go for my manicures and pedicures. I know I will get quality service from a friendly staff. The salon is very hygienic. They offer water and soda to their clients and also have two children pedicure chairs. The technicians take their time to make sure clients are happy with their service. Tim is a pleasure! He took the time to fix one of my nails that he was not 100% satisfied with. I probably wouldn't have noticed the slight color variance. I had a really good experience at Nail Montage. There's a bit of blockage so that you're not constantly listening to women traipse in and ask for a fill. Paraffin dips come standard with all nail services. My technician was clean and efficient. I wasn't upsold or chatted to in any way. The prices aren't that bad. It's Maple Grove and this is a mid-range salon. If you want cheaper, you know where to find it: every other strip mall in the galaxy. I thought the nail polish selection was lacking. Several bottles were old and/or mislabeled. That's not terribly important unless you want to buy a bottle for touch-ups or just because you liked the color so much that you wanted a bottle of your own. Whatever. Women who do that know what I mean. The front desk service is lacking a little. Meh. At least they don't push hard for you to pay in cash. read more

NEVER GET YOUR NAILS DONE HERE!!!! I had previously came to this place to get liquid gel done on my nails and honestly she did a good job on them. I decided to try this place out another time and this time it's was super unpleasant. I had gotten the same lady this time and had set my appointment for 6:30 and which they close at 8 knowing that's more than enough to get my nails done and This lady rushed on my nails like no other trying to get the heck out of there! So every time she put the gel on one nail she'd asked me to place it under the UV lamp and then say "When you feel the BURN on your nails take them out" and I was doing this TEN times! . My nails looked so crooked and the paint on them looked as if a ten year old did them! She finished by 7:15 and I felt like she had more than enough time to take her time on a $60 service. read more

I was pleasantly surprised with the salon and service I got with Cindy at Nail Montage, in Maple Grove. It was a cute sanitary and relaxing place of business. I got the "dipping" nails which is all organic and really good for my nails! My fiancé got a manicure and it was done by another person in there and Cindy saw he wasn't happy completely, so she redone it with a smile! I also had a pedicure. For the price, I was very pleased. These nails I got are good for a whole month!!! With our wedding this weekend, we decided to have these services done and I am VERY PICKY when it comes to my nails and toes/feet. This salon is beautiful and way fancier than any of the places that I've ever been to. The price wasn't too bad (it was $50) for a salon spa pedicure and manicure. The pedicure looks good (and was really good, with the massage and everything), but the manicure was not very good. They took like 5 minutes to do it and they missed the sides of my nails with the paint. I got them done 3 days ago and they are already chipped :( One thing that I thought was crazy (but I guess good for parents who want to spend way too much money on their children) was the "child pedicure". They have two little Hello Kitty manicure seats. I typically go to the salon to get away from children and noise- etc. Oh, and one more thing. I saw that the ladies next to us had glasses of wine. I would have loved a glass of wine, but they never offered or suggested anything to us. Oh well. read more

The water in the tub was way too hot, I asked for it it to be cooled down, she ran the cold for 10 seconds and said "it's cooled down now". Um, no. Still scalding. There's also just no air circulating, so between that and the hot water I sat there dripping sweat the entire time. Now that I'm home, I took a good look at the work. My heels still have skin that could've been scrubbed off, the color is sloppy, and there is a visible line where the top coat was not applied. I will not be back, not worth it. read more

Definitely one of the nicer cheapie nail salons I've been to. They actually invested some money and consideration in the decor and ambience of the place. Nice lighting, tasteful decorations, spacious and clean. I love that they sanitize their instruments and open the sterilized tool packaging in front of you when they start their work. Also love that they have a website with all the pertinent information regarding services, costs, hours, etc. A rarity of nail salons... Prices are slightly more expensive ($5-10 more) than your average strip mail nail salon. My regular pedicure cost $29 with a new client discount and an additional cost for nail design. It lasted about a half hour and included a massage and paraffin dip. The only thing I disliked about my experience was that she was pushing their gel nail manicure when I specifically stated I wanted only a pedicure. I don't like being sold extra shit in any consumer setting, so when it happens it kind of rubs me the wrong way about that specific place... Overall, though, I'd return. I came here with three other women for mani/pedis the day before my wedding. We weren't originally planning on going here, based on price and reviews, but were on a tight timeline so we gave it a try. The prices are fairly high, and based on the quality of the service, completely overpriced. I asked about any discounts (another reviewer mentioned a new client discount), and got a very snide no. We all got seated and started immediately, but they were very rushed, forcing one of my friends to get out her credit card before her nails were even done, so that person could leave. If you aren't going to give quality service even remotely close to your closing time, then close earlier or tell people that it is too late. I can't imagine the service that the three people that came after us got. My manicure was the worst that I have ever gotten. Luckily it lasted through my wedding the next day, but by day 3 it was chipping. I can normally go at least a week with no issues. I have no complaints about the pedicure. Clearly people were very eager to leave, as only one of the stylists was there when we left, but she was very helpful. First off it's freaking manicure 101 - first you file the nails THEN soak, the lady doing my nails took my nail polish off all half assed then proceeded to try to soak my nails. I had to tell her to file them first because they break if you file them after soaking. She filed my nails like crap, they're not even or smooth! I'm now walking around with crappy painted polish and you can see the old polish, I wish this damn place would shut down. read more

Do not go here. I went here and was talked into getting a gel manicure that lasts 2 weeks guaranteed but costs twice as much. Sounded good at the time. Two weeks later when my nails had grown out and the polish was chipped at the tips, it was time to take it off. I followed their instructions and soaked my nails in acetone (sounds like a bad idea to begin with) but then when the polish came off my nails were thin and brittle!!! I am heartbroken b/c I have a wedding coming up and I did NOT want to get fake nails. This super expensive manicure ruined my nails! I called the salon for a refund of just the manicure (not the pedicure which was normal and fine) and they said they do not give refunds. I'm sorry- when you put something on my nails that ruined them.... and you're a nail salon.... that means I have a right to get my money back. I have been a loyal customer for about almost 5 years now, and I only came in to get my nails done by Ivy, she is the best nail technician there. Well she has left because the other workers are jealous of how much she makes because her customers are very loyal to her, instead of telling her customers she has left the salon, they tell them that she is on vacation and she'll be back soon so they can take her customers. Disappointing. I treated myself to gels 2 weeks ago and was underwhelmed at the time, and am disappointed now. First my service was lacking- no moisturizers or dips so whoever said the paraffin dips were with every service was misinformed. My gels grew out within four days, so they didn't treat the cuticles correctly. And about10 days later the gels started to peel off. Not happy for the price. They aren't expensive but they definitely aren't the cheapest! read more

If I could I would give zero stars. I went there with a wedding party and relieved the WORST manicure and pedicure that I have ever had. Mind you, I've been having two manicures a month for more than ten years (with the exception of no chip.) First, we had an arranged time for our group, and (thanks 494) traffic was awful. We called to tell them we would be late, the sounded accommodating. When the group arrived, the bride was bombarded and bullied, saying that because the group was late they "had to turn down business." Ok, partially understandable, but as a business that has been around for awhile, if someone wants a manicure and your appointment is ten minutes late, you should have taken that. A basic manicure shouldn't take more than 15 minutes. Plus, we informed them that we would be late. Additionally, we had previously inquired about a BYOB, and while they said that they always accommodated BYOB, the did not provide any cups at all. A small detail, but it matters at the time. For the final kicker, my basic mani-pedi French tip took 72 minutes. Really? It wasn't made of rubies and unicorns. Not only did it take FOREVER, my mani chipped within 4 hours (without heavy use) and my pedi chipped within 10. Sure, you can say that living in Chicago I have higher standards, but why shouldn't Maple Grove have that? What a terrible experience, especially when I paid more for it than I would have for a better experience in Chicago. Fail Maple Grove. read more
