I got a mani/pedi from Kate this week. She was so sweet. The whole combo was a pretty good deal for $40. I also had my eyebrows waxed for another $12. I guess the ambiance is more quiet relaxing than chatty but Kate and I had a pretty good conversation. We laughed and chuckled quietly as possible. I also liked that the technician had to rip open the plastic cover for the cuticle remover she was going to use. It's a nice way to show that they sanitize their tools. I read some of the reviews about the "cool vibe" and I got that from the owner. I think she recognized that I was Korean by my name and made things a bit uncomfortable. Why? I have no idea but I was there to get my nails done and not be her friend. Her staff was nice and friendly though. I loved talking and getting pampered by Kate and will return in the near future. I went to The Salon today to do the nail chip. The lady was very nice and polite But she very difficult to deal with. The first thing I told her was that I didn't want her to file my nails at all! She started insisting saying she was gonna do it just a little bit to make them more even. I didn't want to argue with her so I said " just a little bit, keep the size it is. I don't want them shorter at all". Well... She wanted to use the nail clipper to do a little bit??? I said NO! Anyways.. She started filing my nails a bit and as she was not satisfied she decided to file the corners of my nails, which I hate! It makes the nail rounded and it looks weird and ugly. Again I had to tell her, "don't do it. It's ok the way it's". . And all the time she started explaining why she was doing that as if she was the one who would decide what to do on my nail!!! Not yet satisfied, she decided to use a nail clipper to cut the corner of my nails!!! What??? It's the worst thing I've ever seen! Again, it makes the nail be rounded, uneven like a triangle.. Horrible. I was clear I like it square and to leave it the way it was!! After all, I asked her to cover one of the nails better as I still could see the white of it and the nail polish was red. I tried to keep checking all the nails to ask her to cover the sides better or the top of the nail because I know that all of these people don't cover 100% of The NAil with The Nail Polish just to make IT easier to clean up! Well, she didn't let me check, asking to put my hands back inside the little neon machine. I understand but then in the end my nails were done and I found many parts of them that were not covered with the nail polish !!! I was not satisfied at all. Her massage was good but honestly... To spend almost $50, I expected to have my nails done EXACTLY the way I want and not the way they like it. It's so frustrating. In 3 days I'm sure my nails will look like as if I had done them a week ago just because she didn't want to cover the full nail with the no chip polish. Not happy at all!!! read more

This place gotten worst after the pandemic. I made an appointment for a regular pedicure and no chip manicure for a 10am appointment on a Monday. Walking in, they had a sign for mandatory mask, I of course didn't have one, but asked to get one to make them comfortable. The owner wasn't there but it was a lady who didn't give me her name. She did an amazing job at my pedicure but kept slapping my shins for my attention, while I was reading. Inside there was four workers and no one inside getting any services but I felt like my pedicure was getting rush; like if they had a line outside the door. When she does my no chip, she goes straight into working on my hands, but again she was rushing and being rude by slapping and twisting my fingers. I was relaxed and calm until she started rushing and making myself feel uncomfortable. Once I was done, the salon was still empty, but once I left and looked at my nails I realized she left some air bubbles in my nail polish, I wanted to go in and tell her but I didn't want to deal with her attitude since they are so busy and she was in a rush for no reason. Nice small cute place, just won't get my nails done here again. The staff some are nice and sweet! Came here yesterday because my friend and I wanted to get our nails done. Walked in and asked how much a manicure was 15.00-(a little over priced but decent) and my friend wanted full set which was 50.00 bucks. Now I've gone to a great deal of places and i truly don't think its acceptable for a full set to cost this much. Especially if its not done at a spa. My friend and I didn't want to find another place so we decided to just do it. I had a younger gal do my nails, and I was not pleased at all. The shaping sucks. The paint job looks mediocre, and my cuticles aren't even pushed down. Some nails are super short and uneven with the rest of my fingers. My friend had a man do her nails and he was very pleasant and did a pretty good job. Wish I had him. Now here is where mediocre turns to terrible: I go to my car to feed the meter more, however, I noticed that my nails at the top looked chipped already. Now mind you, I did sit my hand under the dryer for 20 minutes. I knew it was because she did not put polish on the top part of my nails. I said to myself that if I'm paying 15 bucks for my manicure, I want it done right! I go back in and tell the manager if my girl could put more polish on the chip spots because I don't want them chipping prematurely. She then deems to tell me that on the first day I should be careful! I told her that I've been getting manicures since I was 10 years old therefore I know how to take precaution! Your manicurist did not effectively apply polish so I'd like for her to do this now. Case closed. The audacity she think she has for talking to a paying customer like this! I've never been insulted like this at a nail salon. Not to mention when we walked in, they didn't hang out coats, didn't give us business cards or offer to punch those cards (to lead up to a free manicure). I'm not sure how they get such high ratings on here...but I just went and had an awful experience. My advice is to keep it cruising to another establishment. read more

Just popped in for a regular pedicure and gel manicure ($65... pricey is an understatement). Oyuka was my nail tech. She was awesome!!! Paid attention to detail, very pleasant, and did a wonderful job. Salon is super cute, modern, CLEAN, & relaxing. They have 6 pedicure stations and 6 manicure stations. The shop was really hard to find. . I went around the block twice before I found it. Id love to go back, but its way out of my price range... even with the stellar service. read more

I think you could actually say this place is perfect! The owner is incredible friendly and makes your time there quite wonderful from the moment you walk in. I've been there a couple of times because I live way too far from my usual place. Nail Palette has all of the things a great salon needs: -friendly service -sanitary work stations -an incredible polish selection (no thinned out polishes or ancient bottles!) -a massage! -a relaxing atmosphere I posted a picture of a great manicure I got a few hours ago from Jenny. I am still SHAKING over my experience here today! I had a really nice pedicure 3 weeks ago. This time, I had the 'manager' who started chiding me about nail fungus that I have tried to get rid of and is fairly impossible to do. I take regular care of my feet and use polish to NOT draw attention to this but she proceeded to scold me in a loud voice saying she couldn't do a pedicure. I mentioned that this is YEARS old and they last did one with no problem 3 weeks ago, but she kept going at it. I can't tell you how embarrassed I was in front of her clientele. I am a breast cancer survivor so I'm certainly glad she didn't see me shirtless!!!!!!!!!!! I asked to speak with someone else who was apparently her granddaughter who got on my case as well telling me Grandma knows EVERYTHING. By this point I wanted to fall in a hole. I told BOTH of them repeatedly that I was embarrassed to which they seemed to not understand. She told me my toes were swollen and I TRIED explaining that I had just finished a 10K training run and thought this would be relaxing! HA!!! Then she told me to see a doctor...would my husband count?????? Let's see, pandemic stress, children, work and I have to go to a NAIL SALON for abuse not relaxation????? There was another man nearby who I heard (while I was drying) her start on him about the soles of his feet. Folks, if you're not a foot model and you don't want to go through this on a perfectly glorious afternoon...SKIP THIS PLACE!!!! I will tell all my friends and co-workers to avoid this place except if they are looking for a reason for libel!!!!!!!!! I went back to them because I also appreciated their masking policy, even though I'm fully vaxxed but guess what??? Manager had her mask below her nose the whole time despite the fact that they request it from everyone else! I support this but not for the manager?????? And just for the record, I have NEVER put a negative review up about anybody but this was just awful! And when I looked at the three reviews that were 'good', I was surprised...keep scrolling people! This is one of the few places with so large a collection. They have the new matte polishes too and they look great! I haven't had a poor manicure with them yet and I come here often! This place is great. One time the owner/manager even ran outside to tell me the parking zone so I could update my app and avoid getting a ticket. Definitely went above and beyond! I recently received a no-chip manicure and it's lasted for three weeks, which is awesome! My only gripe is that it's sometimes hard to get a walk-in appointment. I moved to Andersonville in the past year and left my usual nail place behind in Logan Square. I was very fond of my local nail solan and did not have high expectations for anything near my new apartment. I was proven wrong at nail palette. They are extremely organized, move quickly, have an environmentally friendly no chip option that's cruelty free and certified vegan called dazzle dry. THIS is not the best part, after my very first manicure there my technician told me to rest my head on a pillow that was placed in front of my head at the desk. My nail technician proceeded to give me a back and shoulder massage followed by a hot towel on my neck. They do this EVERY SINGLE TIME! It's now my go to place and I make sure to over tip because I always leave feeling pampered and cared for in a way that I haven't experienced at other salons. read more

I would not recommend Dazzle Dry at Nail Palette. I went earlier this week and on the second day color was missing on the tips of my nails. The polish looks cheap and almost matte like. I have gotten several very nice no chip and regular polish manicures. I would go back for a regular polish manicure - but never again for Dazzle Dry! It not worth $25! read more

I've been a long-time customer since this place opened. Pros: Clean and well-organized. The nail polish offerings are always top-notch, not sitting dormant with oil floating on top like most nail places. The staff are well-trained and my nails always look great. The atmosphere is relaxing (when some customer isn't having a speakerphone conversation. Not in public, people!) The con: The owner really doesn't value her long-term customers. I always make an appointment. I always show up on time. They know me by name there, and yet if I ask why, after 10 minutes past my appointment time, why am I kept waiting, the owner will snap at me that they're busy. A few weeks ago, I called for a 5:30 pm appointment on Sunday, and was told they closed at 6:30, so no way could they take me at 5:30. I agreed to come in at 5, and as I had my nails done, I watched 2 other people walk in with 5:30 mani-pedi appointments. Very frustrating. read more

My 3 gal pals and I were looking to sync for a Saturday morning of nails, chatter and brunch in Andersonville -- first stop Nail Palette. *I called the day before to secure 4 mani/pedi appointments for when they opened (930am) - easy peasy, the owner/receptionist speaks perfect English and had us all situated upon arrival. There are plenty of pedi chairs and mani stations so we all got to talk and hang out while we got our nails done. *The staff is LOVELY. Super nice, great service. *Cash tips preferred (basically required!) so bring a little extra. Otherwise they take cards for the regular services. *All the extras! The massages are a nice touch, literally. A little neck massage while your nails dry, and very good leg and arm massages during the mani/pedi. Delightful. I had a no-chip manicure, pedicure plus removal of a previous no-chip ($5) and it was $70. Ok that's not dirt cheap but you get what you pay for. This is very high service, attention to detail -- not a chop shop! Also if you are a regular customer they remove your no-chip free of charge (if its done there). I would definitely return, it was very chill and enjoyable -- recommended for small groups for sure! read more

I am risking a nail smudge as I write this, but I just had to rave about Nail Palette ASAP! I don't treat myself to a mani/pedi as often as I used to and this place made me feel like I just splurged (but it was only $35). The decor is cute, clean and comfortable. No TVs blaring, a nice mix of music and plenty of magazines to keep you entertained. Also, they didn't try the hard upsell like many places I've been to (bonus points for that!). And my OCD side totally noticed their polishes were very well organized. A very nice gentleman named Art did my pedi and mani. Art is an artiste. He was so precise with my nails and even painted the edge to prevent chipping. He gives a great leg/neck/arm massage and they do the lovely warm towel service. He even worked with my somewhat dried-up favorite polish color that i brought in... he did an excellent job. Oh, and the foot file thingie he used was disposable - extra super bonus points for a zero gross-out factor! As I was drying, the lady behind the counter gave me a card with my "member number" and told me about their buy 10 get 1 free manicure program. Love that! Overall, I am thrilled to have Nail Palette within walking distance of my house. I will definitely go back next time I need a little pampering. Ok, I know it seems like a big drop, from 5 to 1 star. But! I had such a terrible experience here last time, I will never go back! I did not pay $60 for just to have my feet soaked in water and nails painted. Where was the pumice? Where was the nail shaping? How can you roll your eyes when I say I want you to cut my nails?? I wish I had the fantastic experience of so many other reviewers. Unfortunately, mine have been decidedly average. I've visited three times, and each one missed the mark in a different way. Trip #1, my cuticles bled in several places, which is about as pleasant as a paper cut. Trip #2, my nails started chipping prematurely. I went back in for Trip #3 to get a touch-up from the previous time, but the woman (not the owner, who's so sweet) looked at my hands and said that I'd have to get a whole new manicure. That's not what they advertise, and my nails did not warrant a full polish change, but I accepted in the hope that the third time would be the charm. Nope. Rough edges and inconsistent application. I want this place to work out, because they have a decent selection of polish and it's and blocks away from my place, but I think I've given them more than enough chances. Do you like my nails? This is my new favorite go-to place to keep my nails pretty. Yup, pretty. The salon is clean (believe me, I worry about the clean factor and it's certainly clean), the staff is friendly, and it's overall a neat little place. I enjoy that the staff members are not only professional, but nicely attentive, rather than seeming like my service is an inconvenience to their social hour like at some other spots. Bonus for deal-seekers is that there are usually specials offered with the mani/pedi, such as neck/shoulder massage or some other little treat. A nail broke (I have acrylics) and I was far away from my usual salon. No time to get there before it closed. No big deal, right? It's a minor repair that any nail salon could do. I was around the corner from this place, so I thought I would try it. Sadly, I didn't get that opportunity. I came in two hours before the closing time stated on their Yelp page, only to be very rudely informed that they close at 6:30, not 7, and they could not possibly help me. Yes, most of the technicians appeared to be busy at the moment, but again, this is a repair that would take five minutes at the most. It's a nail emergency, and you can't spare 5 minutes in the next hour and a half you're open for a paying customer? Hello, my nail is broken. For all you know, as a result I am in the market for a new nail salon (if I have artificial nails obviously I am regular customer SOMEWHERE - their loss could be your gain). But no, The woman who greeted me grabbed my hand and looked at my broken nail as if it was something disgusting the cat left on the back porch. She interrupted me, kept reaching out to repeatedly touch my hand (weird and off putting), and all but pushed me out the door again. I've never had an experience like this in a nail salon before. When getting my nails done in the past, I've always had to make a choice - the "fast-food" nail salons that aren't the cleanest, do rushed work, but are at least cheap...or the high end spa places, that take their time giving you full foot massages, nice scrubs and great attention to detail, but can be very pricey. Never again will I have to sacrifice one for the other. The Nail Palette felt like a high end spa, but at $40 for a mani/pedi, it doesn't break the bank. The decor is fabulous, the massage chairs are new and work wonderfully, and the staff couldn't be nicer or more accommodating. I love this place. read more

I went to Nail Palette the day before my friend's wedding for a mani-pedi. The pedicure was first and went well. The man who painted my nails did a nice job, wasn't too aggressive with the pumice, and the paint looked great. I keep my nails on the shorter side--because I hate the sound of them clicking on the keyboard at work, etc. So when he looked at my nails and said "short" I said yes. Because this is what I say at every place when I get my nails done. And then he cut them down to the nubs. Seriously, I looked like a 14 year old who bit her finger nails off. It was so bad I didn't even want them painted--because super short nails that are painted just look silly. To her credit, the manager (or owner?) offered to comp the entire thing, but I wouldn't let her. The pedicure was good so I paid for it. I did not pay for the aborted manicure. I left pretty irritated because I had gone for the mani-pedi specifically to look nice at my friend's wedding. Definitely a first-world problem (and a small one at that)--but the manicure was just wrong. I'm guessing--based on the reviews--that my experience was an anomaly--just know that when someone at the place asks, "short?" what they really mean is "should I cut to the point of near-discomfort?" read more

This past Friday, I visited Nail Palette for the first time, for a much-needed pedicure. The shop is in my neighborhood and appears to be very clean, so I gave it a try. Unfortunately, I received a very mediocre pedicure, complete with having one of my nails cut to the point of bleeding. The technician did not remove any of my dead skin around the heels. The polish was not applied carefully. This is bad service for a $30 charge. I won't be returning. I also agree with the 'cool vibe' assertion in other Yelp! reviews. Unlike most other nail salons, Nail Palette is a reprieve from the frenetic energy of the city: with no television in sight to poison the atmosphere with trash tv or endless streams of fake news, Nail Palette is unpretentious and subtle in its approach to offer a soothing, calming experience. Their techniques are unmatched: all of their technicians do good work, although some are definitely more gifted than others in the pressure department (when it comes to the force they apply during exfoliation). The results are always terrific, no matter which tech you get, because of the standards and safeguards they have in place (they'll swab your toes with an oily solution and wrap them in baggies before they help you put on your shoes before departing to prevent any polish rub-away). And since their tools and stations are spic-and-span, you really can throw your head back and close your eyes. Free massages, too. I've been here numerous times throughout the years for a mani/pedi and always thought they did a great job. I have since moved but was back in the neighborhood this weekend and stopped in for a manicure. Since I was going to a wedding the next day I decided on an eyebrow wax as well. I maintain my own eyebrows or get threaded but thought what the hell. Cute place might as well. Long story short my eyebrows are uneven and the skin is peeling where she burned the skin off with scorching hot wax. She tried to help by putting "cooling gel" on it which the second ingredient listed is alcohol. Yes, alcohol on fresh burns. The next day, not quite realizing the extent of these injuries I went in, spoke with the manager who kept insisting this was normal for a wax, and got a refund. More than one of my friends mentioned my unusual eyeshadow choice at the wedding. Day three and still painful peeling is in full effect, I'm keeping natural creams on it and avoiding makeup. Good reminder to myself and others that you pay for convenience and it's worth it to make sure the person providing services to you is a trained aesthetician. read more

Nail Palette! I stopped in with a friend on a Sunday afternoon and they were able to get us in for a quick manicure. The manicure I had a Nail Palette was the best manicure I had in a long time! My nails look amazing and my nail technician was a sweetheart. The inside of this salon is so cute and tranquil. I am planning my next trip back for a pedicure. Everyone that works in the salon is also very friendly. NP also has high end polishes like Chanel among a few others. They charge an additional $2 for a manicure or $3 for a pedicure if you use these polishes. I can't wait to go back! read more

My nails were done by someone different, but I still got the same quality manicure (no pedi this time) and friendly service. I'm not typically a mani/pedi kind of girl, but my girlfriend was visiting and thought it would be fun to do something girly. I'm super glad that this is the place we chose. First of all, though it was packed on a Saturday, the proprietress said she'd squeeze us in and sat us on a bench in the back after offering us water or juice. 10 minutes later, she apologized for making us wait (no biggie!) and settled us in two of the spa pedicure chairs (nice ones with lots of powerful massage settings...). The place is spotless, which is so important at nail places (my dad, a doctor, is no alarmist, but used to always rail on about e.coli and other bacteria in improperly sterilized nail tools in salons). The two women that did our pedicures were super professional and thorough. They spent an hour scrubbing and massaging our feet and calves. They were also super sweet--we talked about where they were from in Vietnam, traveling in Vietnam, and asked them about their fav spots to eat in Little Saigon, just around the corner. They told us the name of their fav spots (Hai Yen and Pho 777, FYI), and even wrote down the names of their fav dishes in Vietnamese so we could show the server. So nice! My feet (usually super calloused) stayed soft and pretty looking for at least a few weeks and the polish looked great for 3 weeks. If I go anywhere for a pedi in Chicago, this would be it! read more

This place is amazing... Went here today for my first time and was completely blown away. I was running a little late for my appointment and the owner was very understanding and they were able to fit me in very quickly... Like others have said, the salon is very clean, service is great, and the manicurists do an excellent job. The atmosphere is nice too - definitely a more upscale environment than your average nail salon. What made this manicure stand out to me was the attention to detail, hot towel and mini shoulder massage! My manicure was done perfectly and all those little extras made it so enjoyable. Great little salon. Excellent service. $40 mani/pedi with neck massage. I will definitely go back. My manicurist was meticulous with a good mix of professional and friendly. Ooh, I just love you, Nail Palette! If you want sweet service, market prices, a free service punch card (they have the info in their computer so you don't have to carry anything), a clean space, and great color selections at a great location, check out Nail Palette. I especially love Kate and Rose -- they're fabulous! The neck massage is complimentary and the mani/pedis are fantastic. I get my hair cut at Toujours which is right across the street from Nail Palette. They used to have a mani/pedi set-up but don't anymore... so they referred me to Nail Palette. I'm not a nails person. I'm a primary teacher so there's just no point. But, with it being Spring Break and all I decided to get a manicure (which I really only do on special occasions). I figured for $15, what the heck, right? When I sat down with the manicurist he asked if I wanted my nails trimmed (I had actually managed to let them grow a bit!) and I said sure. I kid you not he cut my pinky nail practically down to the nail bed. I immediately said "Not that short!" Now, I recognize that I don't get manicures often but I've never had anyone anywhere go for the shortest of the short. So I just said that wasn't what I meant and asked that he just trim them and shape them... which he did, no problem, from that point on. Kinda awkward... Nonetheless I thought he did an OK job. Not great, but OK. It just didn't seem quite on par with some other places I've been. I don't know that I would go again. read more
