After being treated so rudely at my last shop after I asked how much longer the wait would be (I already waited over an hour), I was on the hunt for my new favorite nail shop. Parking: The building is easily accessible and there is parking on both sides of the building. It is located in a very busy area (east Atlanta village). Nearby businesses in walking distance and right next door: hookah lounge, bar, and multiple restaurants. Atmosphere: a mask is not required. When I walked in I was addressed immediately and was treated so kindly. Something I really liked was when u come in they ask u to wash your hands first then pick out your color. That way so many germs aren't e transferred from ppls hands to the nail polish bottles and vice versa. When I washed my hands there were no paper towels but instead there were clean white towels u could dry your hands with. Process: at this point I'm impressed. I picked out two polishes but I couldn't make up my mind which one I wanted. But then this happened.... the nail tech OFFERED to paint my toes with both colors just to see which one I wanted, I almost cried. lol. I REALLY appreciated that. My nail tech, Minh, was very gentle with my pedicure and didnt make me feel rushed. She also immediately greeted me as soon as I walked through the door. The manager was helping clients out of their massage chairs and asked me how I was enjoying my pedicure. The other male nail tech was pulling out chairs like a gentleman for his clients. They highly recommend making an appointment but the tech did say that if they're not too busy, they will take walk-ins. I made my appointment on their website. Deluxe pedicure: They have the massaging/vibrating chairs. For me that's a requirement. My pedicure consisted of the standard nail trimming/cleaning/cuticle cutting. Then the following steps: sugar scrub leg and foot massage, a skin mask, hot towels wrapped around your legs, a lotion foot/leg massage then finally the polish. I love my techs massaging skills. She was firm but gentle. Usually this part really hurts me bc previous techs were very rough. Payment: you can pay with debit, Venmo or cash app. They even have signs with QR code's so if you didn't already have it, u can download it onto your phone. Overall experience: I can honesty say that I have never been to a nail salon where I was treated no nicely. I had such a pleasant experience. I can say I found my new nail salon. . I also watched how they treated other clients and everyone was courteous and accommodating. The only down side was during my pedicure one of the techs was playing his music on speakerphone for 15- 20 min. That is one of my pet peeves. I went here off a recommendation and got the classic pedicure. Pros - great affordable prices, easy free parking. Cons - she rushed my pedicure, it was a bit sloppy, and one of my toenails is now falling off - it looks like it had been cut clean across. Not sure if this establishment is to blame for that or not - all of this to say proceed with caution. EDIT - now two of my other toenails are falling off. That's insane. Avoid. read more

This salon is down the street from my office, so I figured to check them out when I was in a time pinch and needed a manicure before catching a flight out of town. Website appointment scheduling didn't work but upon calling the shop, made a same-day appointment for a manicure. Easily located and smack in EAV, it's a great location. I entered and was addressed immediately and seated. Perfect! Then came the issues. I was getting a gel manicure removed and then getting a polish-less male manicure. She pulls out a drill and begins to remove the gel - I hadn't seen this method used before but they're professionals so I trust it. A quick and easy removal until she's done and I notice these dents the drill has left in my nails, so now they look like whittled wood :( I wasn't necessarily irritated, until I looked at the lady beside me, who was also getting a gel manicure removed, and they had her soaking in acetone (the normal method for removing gel). I then advised the technician to cut my nails down in a rounded shape and as low as possible without cutting me (I despise long nails and mine grow very fast). She cuts/files them to a box/square shape and after telling her round for the third time, I just gave up & accepted my square nails. It was acceptable for a last minute fix and grateful for a same-day appointment, but I won't be returning. read more

Update: THEY GAVE ME STAPHYLOCOCCUS THAT WILL BE WITH ME FOR LIFE. Here we are, 10months after getting the infection. $800 in to dermatologist appointments and special medications, my skin has mostly healed. Unfortunately, my nails have not. They are very painful, thin, cracking and my doctor has informed me this will be with me for the rest of my life. I've seen a few recent reviews stating where the tech has broken skin. Just a warning to those getting their nails done ANYWHERE : if they break your skin, they MUST stop immediately to clean the wound and bandage it. And I did not include a note about Gel nails, and I had see attached. After releasing that call I called back to cancel. I explained that while the location is convenient the service has not been good. There was no apology for the inconvenience, it was the general sense of entitled arrogance I have felt before. So after I explain these issues and I was canceling the response was, "ok COOL!!!". I love supporting businesses in my village and most all the business owners appreciate a valued customer. I was recommended to Linh and she did a great job on SNS nails. I plan to return to her for that. My problem was with the pedicure. I thought Linh would also be doing this because that's who I requested when I made the appointment. Instead Lisa did it and she cut the skin of 2 toes so that I bled. She didn't apologize and didn't do anything to compensate for hurting me. I ask for some antibiotic cream and she shrugged and put something on it I did not know what it was. Geez at least show some kindness when you hurt someone and maybe try to make up for it. 10% or a glass of wine (overheard someone else getting offered this but not me!) Or discount on another visit....something to show you recognize you kinda messed up! Don't go to Lisa there. My toe still hasn't healed in 2 days and hurts! I hope it doesn't get infected. Update: If you look closely at my picture posted there are ridges/waves embedded in my nails which one tech said was normal after SNS removal and another said he had never seen it. It looks horrible and so I never want SNS again if this is the end result. I went somewhere right after and they too were surprised by this and were able to make it a little better. I came in to get SNS done on my nails. I had them done previously and the nail technician that had done them before layered my nails with SNS and more... Apparently he was experimenting with the powered, lacquer and gel polish, which is a big no-no. Needless to say it took forever to get everything off. The wonderful thing is Alex (the owner) made me laugh about it and was very friendly about the service. My actual technician was Anna and she was nothing short of amazing. I felt like my nails were artwork for her. She would not let me up out of the chair until she was satisfied with the work she'd done. Believe me it was worth every second of it. She was really sweet! That was truly one of a kind service and I'm very thankful for their service. I will definitely be back! read more

I would really like to give this place a good rating-- but I can't because I have not even been able to go. Apparently, this shop is appointment only, which is great if your online booking system works. Attempted to make an appointment this morning, several times and each time the system said that they could not validate my card. Well, that is complete BS, definitely a system issue. I tried several times before calling the shop itself. Advised the gentleman who answered the phone that I was trying to make an appointment but their system is malfunctioning. He stated that he could not do anything about that because it is done through a third party, fair enough, definitely understandable. My problem comes when I tell him that I still need to make an appointment , but he does not help me. I understand that this is 2019 and the age of technology, but technology malfunctions sometimes, and when that happens there is a good old pen and paper that can keep you from losing business. I could even provide the card number over the phone if they are worried about serial appointment skippers. Unfortunately, for myself and them, I will never experience this shop based off of the lack of basic customer service skills. When a potential new customer is attempting to establish a business relationship and your system is not functioning as it should, you figure out how to retain that business. Period. read more

Nail Shack has the widest selection of SNS colors that I've seen. SNS (Signature Nail Systems) is a powder based nail color that is similar to gel but better for your nails. The idea behind SNS is it helps to strengthen your nails rather than leaving them frail and weak like gel does. Nail Shack is an appointment-only salon and rarely have availability to accept walk-ins. All their technicians are great. I've rotated through all of them and have never been disappointed. The prices are very reasonable ($35 for SNS), the staff is friendly and there's plenty of street and lot parking. You will notice, majority of their customer base are repeat and loyal customers who have been coming here for years. I've been coming here for 3.5 years. The most important factor for me at a nail salon is the quality of service. I always get SNS because it lasts the longest, is the most durable, and doesn't damage my natural nail like gel and acrylic. I haven't found a salon that does this better despite venturing to other places in search of something closer to where I live now. I always end up back here. When I go to any salon, I don't expect the people who are working to be overly friendly. Though some people like Sierra and Vu are and I love them! The salon is clean, not fancy, but I've learned that a nice ambiance doesn't mean you're going to get a great service. I've seen the owners handle disputes and not always in the best way, but as long as pricing is consistent, transparent, and fair--which it is--then I'll keep coming back. This is NOT a cheap service but generally you get what you pay for. I walk out with a well done pedi and SNS nails in less than 90 minutes. No other salon I have tried can do so well that quickly. All that said, I knocked off a star because I have shown up 3 times now and been told I had no appointment. This is new since they updated their booking system last year. Never had problems before and I'm pretty tech savvy so I know I'm not missing any steps. The last time I called and booked to be sure. Still no appointment. This place is no longer convenient for me and I'm super busy so I am very disappointed when this happens. So me and my sister have been coming to nail shack for years and I just had the worst experience last night. Me and my sis came there Sunday to get our nails done. My sis got her nails done by Jade while someone else painted my nails and then I was to wait for Jade to do my nail art after she finished my sister's nails. While she wrapped up my sister's nails, she asked if I could come back tomorrow to get my nails since she wouldn't have time to do the nail art on Sunday because I apparently needed to have booked the nail art option on their page when I booked the appt and that there are current ppl there that had booked the nail art option that were waiting. I honestly was a little perturbed because I've been coming there for years and have never been asked to book the nail art option let alone been asked to come back to get the design. So I leave with my nails just painted and was asked to come back despite my sis's nails being done. I also paid for my nails then btw. So I come back Monday and sit there for a while waiting for Jade, she wraps up with her customer and starts on my nails. She does my nails and I thank her and tell her I'm going to cashapp her a tip. I cashapp and then I start heading to the door to leave. She tries to say something for me to stop so I turned around and she tells me I owe $25 for the nail art. So at this point I'm confused, I asked her what I paid for before then. She said I just paid for the paint at that time, not the nail art. So I'm looking at her like why wouldn't art have been included and she says because ppl sometimes don't come back. I responded with if the nail art was included in the original price then why wouldn't I come back to get the nail art? So I go ahead and pay the $25 despite the fact I just given her a $10 for a tip and have to come back the next day. I have had multiple services here because it is in such a convenient location for me I wanted to like this place and kept giving it more tries. Shame on me... If I book online with a specific nail tech I should not receive a call an hour or so (maybe longer but definitely same day) to let me know that someone else would be taking care of my services. I've had a gel manicure done here twice, a pedicure, and a polish change. Both times, my manicure chipped within a week. And then, after the first week the top near the cuticle lifted very badly. The first time I thought maybe it was just due to a flaw but the second time I knew I can no longer continue to spend money there. Lastly to mention, I consider myself to be an easy person to communicate with. I don't feel as though we should have to wait for someone else to translate each time my nail tech and I communicate. Overall, I just suggest going elsewhere. The prices are not good enough to justify what you are getting. Hands down the most thorough manicure I have EVER received! It made up for the fact that no one really spoke to me when I first walked in (just stared at me while I stood there.....awkward moment). But the quality of service I got there was perfect. I will try this place again! Also, you HAVE to make an appointment. Four stars instead of five because there was a snafu with my appointment time- they had me for 4, I had me for 4:30 and there were several phone calls made and received from others booking problems while I was there. Regardless, Allen worked overtime to fit me in for both my services like the pro he is. Very knowledgeable and fun to chat with. This is one of the only salons ITP that does SNS. As a gel junkie I was skeptical, but this is my first experience and I am hooked. I'm also really picky about my shape so I usually just get the length snipped off but the oval shaping is perfect. Get an appointment- no really, they were turning away walk ins- and you won't be disappointed. If your SNS or gel gets messed up within ten days, you can come in for a free fix. There's no place like Nail Shack! I've been coming to this shop on & off since 2013. My hands and feet have been touched by every single employee in this salon, and every time I am happy & impressed. To the point where I can't go anywhere else...I refuse to go anywhere else! Yes, it is appointment based (one of my favorite things about this salon), & you're able to book online with ease 24/7. I almost always book at night, and my appointment is accepted first thing in the morning! I usually only get SNS & a deluxe pedicure (which is equivalent to heaven on earth). & as I've said before, I've been serviced by every employee--so even if the person I book with isn't available, I know I'm getting the same quality of work no matter what. What I don't budge on is Linh doing my SNS, she's FIREEEEE! Gentle & very nice! I've never left her station unhappy. And I saw some reviews complaining about what SNS did to their nails when they removed them--idk about all that. My nails have never been stronger! I literally have claws & only have a couple of tips on due to my own carelessness. I am changing my review from the initial 5 stars to 1. I drive an hour out of my way to go to a better salon even though Nail Shack is only 1 mile from me. The atmosphere is not relaxing whatsoever it's literally a shack...they are not kidding... The price is actually decent they do not over charge, however they shouldn't considering the lack of accommodations. I only recommend getting nails done by Alan or Tiffany the owners, but it makes it difficult to get an appointment during the best days and times for me because they stay booked. I do not find the experience relaxing here it's quite the opposite. I find it stressful to try and get in when Alan and Tiffany have an availability and I would prefer to go to a nicer salon that has several rock stars I can book with depending on our schedules. I convinced my friend to come here with me once and they cut her cuticles all over her hands (because she was not seen by Tiffany or Alan! Instead of refunding her they offered her another manicure for free which of course she had no intention of taking them up on. I would only recommend nail shack if you are looking for a quick cheap set of nails. In this instance they would be great. If you are looking for a really nice relaxing salon this would not be it. read more

Let me start by saying my nails are ALWAYS done, therefore I have quite a bit of experience with various nail salons. That being said, when I find a place I like I'm extremely loyal. This place was also HIGHLY recommended to me by a friend, but alas... This past Saturday I came in for a pedicure. I wanted to do gel polish on my toes but was told "we don't do that" - however the website says it's a $15 charge...hmm ok. I had stones and gel polish on my toes that needed to come off - I told the tech that she'd have to use the drill to get them off. The male working said no, just soak it off. Not surprisingly, the stones did not come off after soaking for quite some time. The tech then tried to scrape off the stones and polish which caused my big toenail to break almost in half, at which point she began to use the drill to remove the rest. Needless to say my nail looked awful and way nearly falling off. I was charged for the pedicure as well as the gel polish removal - no apology for the broken nail and no discounts. After staring at the loose nail, I then emailed to say it needed to be fixed and that I'd be back on Monday. Fast forward to Monday when I got a call to come in at 6:30 to get it fixed. I walk in at 6:29 and am told to sit and wait. Another woman walks in after me without an appointment to get a nail fixed and she is serviced before me by the same tech that ended up fixing my nail. Overall this was a terrible experience and I will not be returning - I'm even tempted to call AmEx and dispute the charge. Don't make the same mistake I did - find somewhere else to go. read more

I just left this place and had a horrible experience. I decided to try this place based on a recommendation and the Yelp reviews. My nail tech was Tina to start out and was completed by a younger more experienced tech. My nail shape and length were way off and didn't match the length on the other hand for my middle finger. And to add insult to injury, I was talked about while in the salon. New flash to the owners, please don't think that because I am African American that I don't understand your language. There are some of us that speak more than one language. I was polite and very professional. I do not appreciate how I was treated today and will not ever return to your salon. Because my nails ended up being fine, I didn't mind paying full price for my SNS. I am highly disappointed in the customer service I received from Tina today.
