I typically don't give reviews but I thought I should.. I'm widowed w twin teenagers and I work full time so when I make time for me (which rarely happens) I love a good pedicure! It's such a treat.. unfortunately this was the worst pedicure that I've ever had. She couldn't understand a lot of what I said and if she did understand she did the opposite of what I was asking. I asked if she could use scraper thingy cause I had (still do have) thick callouses and she said I didn't need it. I asked to not use a lot of pressure on shins as I have shin splints and she went back and forth several times in the top of leg instead of my calves.. she cut the "12" minute massage (my favorite part) that it says on menu down to 8 minutes cause she wanted to take a walk in before her next appointment got there.. got one coat of polish instead of 2.. The lady doing my pedicure could not massage to save her life. She was talking to her coworker the entire time and made no effort to engage in small talk. They did a great job on my fingers however, this was the first time I got a pedicure and it's been MISERABLE. I've never had an ingrown nail before and it's very bad. I've had to go to the doctor to get it removed twice already. The guy who did my pedicure was inexperienced, did not know what he was doing and was cutting my nails weird and digging into the sides. Usually they're very good and fast, but today I walked in at opening hour and was told it would be a 10 minute wait. I picked my dip color and was quickly seated and was given a bowl of acetone. I came here to try it out because it's conveniently located and their prices are reasonable. Made a reservation for a mani-pedi and they were very pleasant, accommodating, and quick. If you're wanting complicated nail art, they're not as proficient as some other places I've been but for simple colors and design, they're fine. I got the Star Deluxe pedi and it was really nice: includes nice smelling aroma therapy oils, hot stone and oil massage. Definitely worth the upgrade price of $35. The technicians are very friendly and really care about taking care of you there. I would definitely come back for regular services. read more

I do not recommend coming to this place for a soak off. When I arrived the lady greeted me which was nice. I was told to sit in a chair and so I did. I noticed when she started drilling my nails to begin the soak off process her drill started to mess up. She then changed drills and when the other one didnt work she told me ohh these are thick it will take to long and grabbed a unused nail tip because she was gonna pop them off. I stated no, I would like a soak off and she told me yes I will do a soak off while proceeding to go for my nail with the unused nail tip to remove the acrylic on my nails. I got up and told the lady you will not be damaging my nails and walked out. A soak off without damaged is not something Nails star could accomplish. read more

I stopped in because I was running errands and needed a mani pedi. This is a no frills nail salon, so if you are looking for the spa feel, this is not the place. They are not serving up margaritas or wine in here. The color selection was sparse, and most of the bottles looked old. They had some newer colors, but there was a lack of natural colors like bubble bath or sugar daddy. Actually, now that I think about it, I did not see any OPI or Essie colors. The only brand I recognized was Orly, so I chose a newer bottle of a soft pink color. The decor is outdated, all of the prep supplies are out in the open, and I could barely feel the massager in the chair. The woman who took care of me was very sweet, and there were a couple of regulars that came in. This is not going to be my regular spot, but if I am in a jam, have my own polish with me, and just need a quick mani-pedi, I may go back. Maybe. My search continues. read more

I made an appointment a week in advance for my birthday. I arrived to my appointment on time and the nail tech I requested, Mai refused to service me. She told me the nail service I wanted would take too long and push her other appointments (AFTER ME) back, which I felt was rude and insensitive. Then, she asked me to come back 3 hours later, which was very inconvenient for me. The customer service was horrible so I ended up leaving. Really just fishing for other opinions on the remodel/redo of the salon and staff...maybe it's just me but it's a little uninviting, I don't like the EDM/techno music, and in the last 4 visits have had new folks that do a mediocre job...Also not a fan of the "NuSkin" or whatever new treatment they use. I had a long break today at work so I decided to check this place out. Sophia (I believe is her name) did an AMAZING job!! I got a full set of Nexgen. I have had the point/oval nails done before and they never turn out well so I was a little nervous. I am glad I trusted her! I left about 12:30pm today and I have already had multiple compliments on them. I will be coming back to see her. The place is very clean. They have a million colors to choose from and a lot of the bottles looked brand new. They have a big TV set up over by the pedicure chairs that is hooked up to Netflix. They asked us what we wanted to watch and put it on for us. When I left they were super busy so you may need to call ahead to get an appointment. I've been going to Nail's Star for several years now. I go every 3wks and every time all the techs are very attentive, nice, and accommodating! Nathan usually does my nails and he's amazing and funny. I get the dip powder and lately love experimenting with ombre. If you get stuck on a color like me sometimes, all the techs and Nathan definitely help you on deciding. Also, I've been to places before that don't really massage your feet during the pedicure, but here they give a pretty good massage with pressure even during a shorter basic pedi. My beloved nail tech that I had patronized for over three years moved to Garland and broke my heart. So I went on the search for another Salon in my part of the world. This is a change as dreaded as finding a new Doc. :( 1st try at a new Salon was a disaster. My American polish was chipping within 4 days; unheard of with my dearly departed Lan; her work was so perfect I could go almost 4 weeks without a redo. She always earned a strong 5 stars ! So, mark this spot off my list and off I go to spot #2, Nail's Star. Friendly staff and nice surroundings comfy chairs, etc. I have natural nails and always stick with the American polish. For some reason, perhaps during one of my "blonde" moments, I allowed myself to be talked into the new Shellac finish. Should'a inquired more about what I was getting in to; My VERY BAD :( I was told to return for a fill in 2-3 weeks. While the finish looked beautiful and shiny, I didn't like the "hard" feel on my nails and the "growing out" process. Learned the hard way that regular polish remover won't take off the Shellac. Finally soaked my nails in that awful Acetone stuff necessary to remove Acrylics, which is so damaging to natural nails. After two weeks of treating my nails with baby oil, they're back to a normal sheen. The nail tech's work was good, so not downgrading because of that. 3 stars because I just felt really "pressured" into getting this finish. That will never happen again for sure ! I may go back for my usual "regular" manicure and will update accordingly with hopefully at least 4 stars. . read more

This was the worst manicure of my life. The lady who was doing my nails called over another employee and was clearly speaking about me. They spoke about my eyes and my nose and when I asked them what they were talking about they got quiet. On top of that she did a terrible job applying the nail polish. She didn't cover the entire nail with polish and you can see where one coat started and the other ended. Sloppy job and they did not want to take their time. I have gone all over the Addison and Carrollton area to get my nails done. By far this salon is superior. It's in a great location, always clean, everyone's so nice and I always leave happy!! The salon stays busy (which is a great sign) so I usually call ahead or make an appointment. Natalie always does my nails. She takes her time with me, tries out new products with me. She gets super creative with my nails. She also shapes them so well!! I've been to salons that just start grinding your nails down until it burns or cut your cuticles and make them bleed. Not here! They take their time. Natalie is quite the perfectionist. It's different than going to other salons. You can tell they actually care and want you to leave happy with their service.
