As I was getting my pedicure, the attendant cut the sides of my left big toe resulting in drawing blood. I was bleeding! I told her to just stop the manicure since I didn't want to risk any infection. The owner/cashier stated that she would give me a $5 discount since I didn't get paint on my nails. But otherwise would charge me because the pedicurist had already done work. She also stated that it's ok if I got an infection because all I'd have to do is come back since the salon has insurance! Crazy! The instruments were not sanitized and placed in pouches between customers. Clippers, files, etc. appeared to be used without ensuring sanitation practices to reduce transmission of bacteria between guests. I submitted a complaint to the health department, consumer affairs, and cosmetology board. If she had just apologized and not charged me for the pedicure that I didn't get, I wouldn't have taken such drastic measures. But for the greed of $20 there's gonna be a whole investigation. read more

There are 3 other nail salons within 2 blocks and this is the best one based on consistency and cleanliness. So I gave them 4 stars. Pros... All the nail techs I've had are thorough, detailed and professional. They clean the foot baths then put bags in so you are guaranteed a clean pedicure. They have a good variety of polish/gel and it lasts. And their polish is good quality, not the dry, cracked polish with acetone in it like other salons. Cons... The wait time is long, even with an appointment. And they are not the nicest when managing an overflow of customers or questions. If you ask about your appointment or wait time you may get a rude and defensive answer or ignored. Overall... Go with time to spare and a lot of patience. Once you're done with the whole ordeal you will really like your nails and justly come back like I do. read more

I recently made an appointment, after giving my nails a rest for a few months. I enjoy coming here since it's convenient and easy access to parking and nearby restaurants. The place is very nice and elegant. On my last visit I was attended right as soon as I arrived on time, after rescheduling my appointment a few days before. The point of an appointment is for me to have that time reserved for us. We weren't the only ones a woman was waiting 30 minutes for her appointment and wasn't seen either. This is my first time coming to this place. I ONLY CAME HERE BECAUSE NOT EVERY NAIL SALON DOES SNS GEL. I made my appointment on Monday for Wednesday 6:30PM. I even gave them a curtesy call I was in a little bit of traffic I'll be there 5 min after. Let's just say this place was a mad house. They over book and then can't assist you. I was seated to pick a color and left there for an HOUR. THE OWNER HAS THE NERVE TO TELL ME "it getting late, if I can come tomorrow" I told her I was here for an hour with an appointment. She then suggested to stay longer. I ended up walking out. I don't recommend this place if you want your day spent sitting around hoping they'll take you and do your nails. The result is always great. However be prepared for it to take 2 hours. I have usually gone here for my nails but truly - I do not want to take that kind of time out of my day. (2 weeks ago) I waited 1 hour to be assisted and the appointment took over 1.5 hour. Multiple people with appointments came first. I didn't know that would actually work so I made an appointment for today. I was waiting for 15 minutes and no one was available to help me. I do not believe that is the right way to treat your customers when having made an appointment. It probably would have taken another 30 minutes before they could take me (which would have resulted in 45minutes) I decided to give another salon a chance instead of sticking with this one and giving it this much time. Today was my first time in the salon. I went in for a gel manicure and let me tell you I'm beyond satisfied. They booked me with Elodia and she did a great job painting my nails and with my cuticles. Now with the whole Covid thing, they take your temperature at the door and then you have to go wash your hands before your service. My appointment was at 10:30 am and I had a great experience. I'm new to the area and decided to come to Nail Works after reading the positive reviews. I called a few days in advance for an acrylic fill in appointment. When I got there, everyone was busy and it did not look like they were finishing up anytime soon. They also seemed very confused about my appointment- as they obviously weren't prepared for it. After 10 minutes I said I'd get a 'quick' pedicure since I was waiting. I thought the pedicure was fine but it was 50-60 minutes- not exactly 'quick'. I then went to get my fill in and the woman took almost 10 min to manually file a single nail down. After getting tips- acrylic, gel and everything else, I was confused and asked her if she had a machine to file them down and asked why she was taking the entire nail off when I was expecting a 45 min fill in. 2 women started working on my nails because I only had 40 minutes left till I had to leave at that point. Both women filed them down completely different. I had stopped even watching because I was staring at the clock. I was very disappointed with how my nails came out. My 'acrylics' were uneven, bumpy, thick and the nail was horribly painted. Both pedicure and 'fill-in' or whatever I got. You'd expect more for spending that much time there. Pictures were taken directly after leaving the salon. Needless I say I'm disappointed that I spent $65+ tip and over 2 hours to walk away unhappy. Only reason I'm giving them 2 stars is because they were mostly friendly. I would have given them the opportunity to fix my nails and prevent me writing a review if I wasn't already 20 minutes late for work due to their scheduling. read more

I wanted to get my nails done and someone I know referred me to this place so I decided to give it a shot. I called to see if they could take me and when I walked in they took care of me right away. The were attentive and very friendly however, the reason that I'm giving 3 stars instead of 5 is just because of process and quality of the manicure. This place does not take the most sanitary approach to applying the dip powder. It should either be poured into a separate bowl or poured directly on your nail, instead this place sticks your finger into the container that the powder comes in. This may not be a big deal to some but considering that they're sticking different fingers into the same container, without being able to disinfect the powder, it could be a cause for future problems. I personally do not want to raise my chances of getting a fungal infection on my nails just so they can look pretty for a few weeks. I don't believe I'll be coming back here for this reason. read more
