The person who gave me a manicure destroyed my nails - she filed my existing colour off, causing me pain (I did say "ouch" a number of times when she was doing it) and obviously going too deep, weakening all my nails - 2 days afterwards, the gel nail varnish started to peel and now, a week and a half later, 8 of my nails have broken right down to my nail bed - I normally have very strong nails and have never had such a disastrous manicure. Giuda was my gal! So sweet. I dont speak Italian but she understood enough amd was very kind and friendly. Anyone who does their nails regularly knows the true test of a good mani is a week later. This one far exceeded my expectations. I shopped, ate, museums (typical tourist stuff) then had 3 flights home with extra luggage and customs where i had to get my bags, transfer to another flight and then settle on my last leg. One of my bags had broken in transit so i even was carrying it wrapped in plastic (terrible for nails). I've now been home, putting things away and settling in. Its been over a week and my nails still look AMAZING! I wish I lived in Florence for all the normal reasons and now i even have a regular nail girl! Why not move . Uhhhhhhh... That's basically the reaction my friend and I had throughout our manicure experience. We walked in at around 3pm and asked if they had any availability later in the day. They wrote us down for 6:30pm, and we returned at 6:25 for our appointment. They told us it would be 5-10 min since all their technicians were occupied then. No problem for us, so we sat down to wait. At 6:35 one nail technician was free, so I began my manicure. She filed my nails and checked if I liked the shape. Then she asked what scent of lotion I would like for my hands. These were nice touches, though the lotion massage lasted only like 5 seconds. After that, there were only downsides to the experience. The nail technician caused some minor bleeding in my finger due to aggressive cuticle cutting (photo attached). She also did not use a base coat for my polish... luckily I chose a translucent color so there most likely won't be any nail staining, but still... base coats are a fairly standard practice, so not sure why they shirked out on it. Overall, I felt my manicure was really the bare bones - I've gone to places for a polish change (half the price) for better quality, care, and services (e.g longer hand rub). In addition, my friend was not attended to until 7:05 (35 min after our appointment). At 7:05 she was told to take a seat, but even after sitting, she was left waiting for 10 min while the technician cleaned the bathroom... in the meantime, I finished my manicure at 7:08, and another client who had an appointment at 7pm was seated with my former technician. So a client with a later appointment was serviced before my friend all while my friend's designated technician was cleaning the bathroom. My friend was very confused, and we were nervous about making our 8pm dinner appointment in time. After my friend made several distressed faces at me, my former nail technician noticed and began servicing my friend (so balancing two clients) at the same time. Overall the salon is clean and follows good health / safety practices (I saw my technician open a new disposable package of tools), but they seem to overbook and are disorganized. I'm not sure if it's common to run late in appointments from both ends (client / technician) in Italy, but we were sufficiently confused by the behavior at this salon. Let me just tell you the experience was horrible, and they did not even do my nails. After reading some reviews I am happy I did not get my nails done. Where do I start. . . I tried to reserve a date a week prior for my friends and I. My birthday was a July 4th and I wanted to reserve a date for July 3rd. When we arrived in the store it felt like the kept laughing at us and potentially talking bad about us in Italian. It made me feel very uncomfortable. They kept apologizing for laughing at us. We finally decided on a date, July 4th Tuesday, the day of my birthday. I was content with the answer but felt so unsettled while leaving because I felt so judged. Finally, when we got home later that night we received a message saying their moving it to the day after. I was kind of sad because I wanted my nails to be done for my birthday. However, I understood that they were busy and accepted the offer. We arrive during our appointment time on July 5th. They looked completely clueless when I mentioned it to them. They looked like they did not care that they inconvenienced us. I was very disappointed but sadly not surprised. They seemed very unprofessional, unreliable, and disrespectful. I had to stop by as I needed my acrylics removed. I had an appointment, but I was told to sit and wait for a while before someone could come help me. I believe it took 20-25 minutes, and they began helping me. The lady was rough with my hands and gave me many small cuts. She put on the cotton balls to let it soak and left me for a half hour or so. By that time, another appointment had already come in and was nearly finished. I ended up getting a regular polish manicure after the acrylics were taken off. A few hours after my appointment, my nails were chipped and the day after, a large section is missing. Edit - After seeing the response, I would like to add something to my review. I would have mentioned this to an employee if I felt welcomed, but I did not. There was little to no communication during my visit. I wasn't informed of someone that spoke fluent English in the building. I was not asked to wait, I was told where to sit and I waited. I even sent some texts while I was there so I can assure you it was longer than 5 minutes as I cannot text when the appointment began. I was not told that it will take longer because of the dip powder, there was no communication, the lady who was helping me just left and did not say anything. I understand that I received regular polish, that is what I asked for as I did not want to damage my nails further. It was not imposed upon me and it didn't say it was. O, woe is me; my nails were horribly overgrown, my once-flawless black shellac now resembled ancient, decaying marble walls. But what's a girl to do in an unfamiliar town? Hope for a miracle, I suppose. A random walk up and down Via dell'Agnolo led me to Nails & Beauty. The nail tech was kind enough to take me despite not having an appointment (she asked if I had an "appuntamento") and arriving almost 45 minutes before closing (I didn't see hours before walking in). Though my Italian was quite rusty and her English almost non-existing, we were able to communicate. She clipped my nails to the perfect refined length, filed them in a chic square shape and polished them in a nude shade. Sadly, almost as soon as I walked out the door, I smudged my polish -- there was no drying lamp. Why am I giving them only 3 stars? Because after I walked out, I realized I was bleeding! Blood had accumulated under the nail and eventually created a not-so nice outline around my nail and cuticle. Also, when I went to pay, the owner said she would only take cash. They didn't change the stick to take the wax out (double dipping) which totally gross. She put me baby powder ? ( I'm not sure if it was for baby or just powder) on my Bikini part and continue to wax. She didn't clean the whole part while I'm asking for Brazilian wax. It was BAD and very painful!!! Worst experience I've ever had. They charged me 28 euros for a pedicure that was lumpy and not shiny at all. The whole process took about 15 minutes and they don't massage or exfoliate. After walking around Versailles France all day yesterday and then walking around Pisa and Florence Italy all day today, I was tired and sore and in need of a massage. This place was right next to our AirBnB room. I walked in and was given an appointment right away. The girl was very nice. She didn't speak any English and the only Italian I could remember from 8th grade wasn't very helpful. But massage transcends language and mine was so relaxing and enjoyable. I ended up spending almost two and a half hours in the salon for a Shellac manicure by the time everything was said and done. I wish they had just told me there were no more appointments available instead of having me wait for so long. I've had many Brazilian waxes done in my life, and none were as bad as this one. First of all, the esthetician used what looked like a butter knife to spread the hot wax on me. She didn't clean the knife in between dips into the wax and I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't clean it in between clients. This means that the germs from my bikini area were being transferred back into the wax that would be used for the next client. She also used the same strip over and over again to the point where it didn't take off any hair, it just hurt. Maybe she was trying to save on strips, or maybe she was just being lazy. The worst part about this, though, was that during the middle of my wax as I lay spread-eagled on the table facing the door, was that another staff member came in. She poked her head in, saw me, and carried on a conversation with the woman waxing me with no regard to my privacy. It was so incredibly unprofessional and they didn't seem to have any idea why I was upset that they had opened a door onto my bare bikini area. Edit: Apparently they do clean the spatula in between clients (but not in between dips into the wax). How do I know this? Because the salon emailed me angry that I left a yelp review and saying that I had made a false review and should have more respect for their work (also blaming me saying that I sweated too much). I normally go to get my manicure which is ok, but yesterday I had a massage appointment and had a very bad experience. I booked an hour long massage and had only 40 minutes of a very mediocre massage. When I went out of the cabin to see what had happened they said that it was my word against theirs and that even though they saw the time (by that time it was 7:20 when it had started 6:30 and I had been inside waiting for over ten minutes which I thought was an obvious indication of how it had ended earlier) they said they would only respond by me going back now and getting an extra 10 minutes. By that time I was already dressed and told them that I had a dinner but I could come another day or they could do a discount on my payment (seeing as I had 20 minutes less than I paid for) and the manager was very rude. I went in for a Brazilian wax and it was honestly the worst experience that I've had with an esthetician!! The woman who waxed me DID NOT WEAR GLOVES AND SHE DOUBLE DIPPED HER INSTRUMENT!!!! The fact that she was touching my vagina without a glove still erks me. She kept complaining that my hair was too long. she went as far as to apply wax and then cut my hair while it had wax. She yanked my clitoris more than once, although I don't think it was intentional she should have been more careful. When she applied wax to my skin, she would blow on it, let the wax cool down, blow on it then pull the strip of cloth in different directions, she kept using the same strip over and over. When she was done waxing, she left a ridiculous amount of wax on my skin, it honestly looked like a yeast infection. It took me 5 or 6 minutes to remove all the wax residue. She left me bleeding, and raw!!! A little bleeding pores are normal but it looked like I was spotting. I am absolutely horrified by my experience. I will be going to my GP in two weeks to get blood drawn to make sure there was no infection. Highly recommend NOT GOING HERE!!!!! Please make sure your esthetician wears gloves and does not double dip the instrument that is being used!!!! Always ask. read more

I had a wonderful experience here. I found the nail salon walking by and noticed the CND Shellac sign in the window., something I always get at home. The young woman who I made my appointment with spoke a little English, enough to arrange a time for me to come back later that afternoon. The woman Who did my nails did not speak any English, but was very very sweet.
