I went here twice, for a pedicure and a gel manicure. The pedicure was fine. Not a luxurious feeling pedicure, despite being a "spa" pedicure, but serviceable. The manicure was bad. The technician buffed the old gel so hard and fast that my fingers hurt and got hot, she only had me put them under the UV for one cycle when the top coat was applied so the polish became marred quickly, and the polish was right down to the cuticle. It chipped the next day. During both services, the technicians were not friendly (I wasn't even greeted) and the salon had on a Spanish soap opera that all of the techs were watching when they weren't looking at their phones or iPads. No one seemed to care about the experience of the customer. I won't be returning. read more

I have been looking for a place that does a good job at gel manicure with designs and was so relieved to finally find this place! I've only been twice but each time I arrived for my appt and they took me at that appt time. The timeframe that I booked online for was accurately the length of time I was there. I recently went to Daissy and think she does a great job with designs. She is very diligent with her work. I will be returning to her in a couple weeks for my wedding nails. 4 stars only because I have not yet tried out the pedicure services here. read more

Stay away from this unprofessional salon. None of their tools are sterilized and they don't listen. I specifically asked for johana and had another tech do my nails. This tech also made 5 of my nails bleed from cutting my cuticles, which I hope don't get infected because of how unclean the environment is. Go across to JK nails at least they are clean! read more

Deeply disappointed with this salon. I accidentally went to the wrong salon to get my daughter, who is 10, a manicure. We have another nail salon in the area that has the same name but slightly different spelling. I would typically just hurry over to the salon but i was dropped off and had no access to a car to get there. The salon was not understanding at all and charged me for the missed appointment. Really disappointed in this place. I don't get my nails done often but when I do I went here and always recommended them to family and friends but not anymore. I went down to the shore for a week I went to get my nails done Friday to prepare. I asked for UV white gel which should last over a week or at least a week. Less then 24 hours and my nails were chipped and peeling I gave them a call when they opened Saturday morning and was told the owner would call me back and she never did so I called again today (Monday) since they're closed Sundays and spoke to a women who was nice and understanding but not once did the owner get on the phone to speak me to I asked for them to give me a new set when I'm back from vacation and the receptionist said the owner would give me polish ( whatever that means) but wouldn't give me a new uv gel set which I should be offered since they didn't even last 24 hours and a refund was also not offered . It's an absolute joke that you couldn't give the decency of a refund or redo the nails if they peel after less than a day. I've been getting my nails done here for the past six years. they are the absolute best nail salon I've ever been to. I go to the owner but have tried many other technicians here and they're all amazing!! they listen and I always leave with nails that give me compliments for weeks. i always request crazy designs and they nail it every time (pun intended). also if I ever need something changed days later, they accommodate me. I have to say my nails came out very nice and exactly what I asked for however this service took over 2 hours with excessive sanding and unnecessary amounts of time Under a UV light which both are not healthy for your nail or skin . I had an appt for 1030 am for a pedicure which was made three weeks prior. They only started doing my toes at 1110 am. I wanted a specific person to do my manicure and by the time it came to it they just put me with a random person. When I stated I have an appt with a specific person and that it was made three weeks prior and confirmed via phone the day before the owner denied that was said. The person who did my nails made three of my fingers bleed from cutting my cuticles. This place is unprofessional and unorganized. read more

I feel disappointed by this place. I originally found them on Instagram and was pleased to see they can execute the trends that are popular today. But the quality is not 100%. The regular pedicure was fine, hence the two stars. The acrylic nail set was very disappointing. My nails were longer before getting acrylic nails. The attendant cut short my nails carelessly. My skin was cut twice in the process of applying acrylic nails. They wanted me to relax more, which was understandably difficult after getting bruised badly. Johana had to intervene and make do with whatever length was left on my nail set. All in all, very bad service and I was down $90. Will not recommend. read more

At this time, when we have to be very cautious, especially senior citizens, it's hard to plan ahead. Sometimes you have to reschedule. I was shown attitude when I did it. Never really had a bad experience until today, I went in for dip and they tried convincing me to give my nails a break. Yes I'm aware they are damaged prior to coming to them but I was willing to pay the money for a dip, so the girl proceeded and then I did need patch work done on one nail but she didn't know what to do so she handed me to another girl who also insisted that I not get the dip and cut all of my growth on nails to be super short to the point I can feel my finger tips as I'm typing this review and it's fairly uncomfortable. I'm trying to grow out my nails not make them shorter and I was doing good before going there. I also asked for them to be one of the darkest colors they had and to me it doesn't seem very dark the color. I'm mostly disappointed. The simple fact alone that my fingers hurt because they are too short is enough to make me upset, but I'm trying not to worry about that, I'm not able to afford to go back and pay for a whole new dip manicure. Oh and the patch work they did they ended up putting a tip on it which annoys me because I'm trying everything to grow them naturally as I mentioned before. The only reason I'm giving this one star is the price is better than most places in New City for dip-$35. This place is horrible. It took my nail tech 3 hours to do one hand and she kept messing them up. I numerously asked the lady doing my nails to fix them and she didn't understand or didn't do what I wanted. I figured I would try this place out since my usual nail tech was busy this weekend. It's very difficult to communicate with your nail tech, when they don't understand a word you are saying or constantly need another person to communicate to you. The owner however was accommodating and took my nails off. I am beyond pissed and I will not be back! Thinking I would have a nice relaxing experience, it was completely the opposite! I've been going to Nails by Johana since the spring time. I loved using Elizabeth but she left the salon this week, sad. What is really disappointing is their management skills. Monday 12/23, I had a manicure appointment for 1pm. I show up on time, soaked my gel off. In the mean time, 4 people show up. 3 for gel or powder manicure and one for a pedicure. 2 of the manicures and the pedicure were done by the time it was my turn, at 1:55!!!!!!!!! Two weeks prior, I had an appointment and I had to wait 45 minutes before seeing a manicurist. What's the point of having an appointment when 3 of the people WHO WALKED IN AFTER ME WERE SEEN BEFORE ME?!?! They did not have an appointment and I heard when asked. The owner kept glaring at me as she knew I was impatiently waiting. They do a decent time on nails have if you extra time on your hands, be prepared to WAIT A LONG TIME!!! read more

I have been a client of johana's for about 7 years. When I heard she opened her own nail salon I was thrilled. When I was not in the area, I would try different places and always left unhappy with the shape of my nails and the way they handled my cuticles. Johana always makes sure my cuticles are very neat and clean and she knows what shape I like and each fingernail is totally even and the exact same shape/length. She cares about the health of your nails and she never pushes you to do anything more than you ask for. The salon is also very clean and when I'm there I feel very relaxed. Not only is Johana an amazing nail stylist/salon owner, she is also extremely sweet. The staff here is unprofessional. Nails are hit are miss - either really good or eh, but last time I went the staff was so rude and unprofessional. I made an appointment for a day, then realized I wanted them done earlier so I cancelled the appointment and made a new one with a sooner date with a specific girl. This was all done on their website. When i came for my appointment, they hadn't moved me in their books, but were acting as if it was MY fault they hadn't had me down and their response was just "well we have other people coming at 9:30." I do like this place. But the last time I went the woman was awful. I believe her name was Elizabeth. I showed her a picture of what I wanted. She kept telling me what she wanted to do. For example, I said I wanted a rose gold color instead of the one in the picture and she responded, "no I don't like that I like this color better." I originally showed her a different picture and she said she didn't like it because it was "too much". Or when I said I wanted a certain nail shape, she said "no I like square better I don't like that." I'm not paying you to do what you want to do.
