When I called over the phone, the receptionist readily accepted my redemption and scheduled me for an appointment in the not-too-distant future. De Beauté salon is easily one of the largest salons I've visited, taking up an entire multi-story building. Parking is easy with an adjoining lot and the first floor essentially functions as a receiving lobby. Here, receptionists will check you in, tell you which floor you're heading toward, and hand you a slip of paper that details the service you're receiving (to give to your service provider). I was paired with Antoine for the Brazilian blowout, and I wish I'd taken before/after pictures because wow, what a change. I'd arrived with frizzy hair that was approximating a Brillo-pad texture and frizz (thanks to a bleach job I'd recently gotten done), but after a short hour and a half in the chair, my tresses had been tamed to a silky smoothness that I hadn't felt on my head for some time. I've since washed my hair a few times, and I'm happy to report that this keratin treatment has staying power. For those sensitive to strong chemicals, note that the formula they use contains formaldehyde. I appreciated that they set up the chair by two strong fans and an open door, but my eyes still watered a bit here and there.

I actually requested an extraction to go along with my facial, but Stephanie took a look at my skin, insightfully told me about the root of my problems, and recommended a high frequency treatment instead. The high frequency is a laser that targets your problem areas, shrinks pores, and preserves your youthful appearance. The procedure wasn't painful at all! Both the microdermabrasion and high frequency were tingly sensations that didn't last that long. Stephanie goes through the treatment slowly and deliberately, just like an expert. After my facial, Stephanie left me with some words of advice and a sample of coconut oil to help soothe any redness. She first started with a questionnaire about my scalp and hair and then used a video camera to show the condition I was in. My scalp follicles had buildup from conditioner and my hair was oily even though it had been washed the day before and my scalp was also irritated in different places... I've had massages before but NONE had put me to sleep because they were so relaxing. She first massaged my shoulders then neck then face before scalp and cleansing my hair. The atmosphere was soft and she even gave me a tea for my allergy congestion after. It ended with another view from the video camera afterward where I could see a clear difference from the treatment.
