This place is modern and clean inside, with a show casing display of a wide variety of colors for both gel and acrylic nail polish. The staff was very attentive and friendly when I called and also arrived for my appointment I made 10 minutes prior for a pedicure. I would have given 5 stars, but there was a bit of a language barrier and trouble at check out. The gel pedicure was an excellent experience for $45 and about 45 minutes to complete. My feet were soaked, polish removed, nails shaped, hot stones massage, hot towel applied, and moisturized with lotion. I would return for a chance to pamper myself! read more

I have been going here since I moved to Hazlet in 2016. I was so nervous to leave my place in north Jersey. I go to Donna for gel manicures and always made my 2 week appointment before leaving the salon. After the birth of my son, I wasn't able to make my appointments in advance due to my childcare schedule. I usually call the week I want to come in, and Sarah always accommodates me! Make an appointment to avoid waiting. I have never waited longer than 10 minutes with my appointment even when it is extremely busy. Friendly staff, clean! I have not written a yelp review in YEARS, and man am I sad to be writing it about this place. I was so incredibly disappointed upon trying Nails by Sarah for the first time. I pass this place all the time and have been dying to try based on yelp reviews. For the life of me I can't find a good nail salon in this area, and I had high high hopes. I made an appointment over a week in advance (as I saw via reviews that they have an attitude if you attempt a walk in...) and when I arrived a woman (who ended up being the one to do my nails, NOT Sarah) charged up to me to ask if I had an appointment, seeming doubtful. To her surprise, I did, and she took me over to where she'd be doing my nails. The inside is adorable, and they had a decent selection of colors to choose from for my gel manicure. My manicurist sat next to Sarah- I regretfully never asked for her name. I'll highlight my reasons for this 1 star review below. (As I sat through this crappy experience I debated coming back and asking for a different nail artist, but by the end I decided I have no intention of returning-hence-this awful review. 1. The awkward greeting upon arrival 2. The attitude this woman gave me when I asked if they were cash only (i asked because I saw an ATM at the front when I arrived.. which I've never seen INSIDE of a nail salon before, so i just wanted to double check before wasting my time because I only had enough cash for a tip with me) She also rushed me into picking a nail color and didn't speak one word throughout this experience. Which is fine, I hate small talk too, but she vividly was unfriendly and it made me uncomfortable. Seemed as though Sarah and all of the other nail women in this salon were friendly and sweet.. 3. The absolutely FILTHY nail clipper this woman whipped out to cut my nails. It took everything in me not to say something. It wasn't pulled out of a fresh bag, and wasn't sitting in cleanser. I was repulsed but kept my cool. 4. As this woman was doing my nails (rushing, btw this entire gel manicure process was started and completed within 28 minutes. Which trust me, would be awesome if she did a good job. But the way my nails came out certainly show a 28 minute job...) she was holding the gel nail polish bottle so awkwardly that she kept getting gel on the bottoms of my fingers. When I finally spoke up nicely requesting she remove the gel from my skin, she huffed and puffed and barely removed it. I'm not sure why this annoyed her.... 5. When she was done she got to the "massage" portion on my hands.. which she just grabbed my hand and tugged for a couple seconds on each hand, then threw a luke warm towel on to one, then moved it to the other when it was ice cold. Once done with that (approx 20 seconds) she yelled the cost of the gels to me while staring at me... where I awkwardly had to say thank you and direct HER over to the front desk so I could pay. I guess she expected me to pay cash, despite me making it clear from the minute I sat down that I'd be paying with a card... I am sooooo mad at myself for even tipping this nasty woman. I tipped her because in my head I really wanted to come back and try with someone else, but once I got in my car and took a good look at my nails I was horrified and decided I wouldn't return. The gel is bubbly, all over my fingers and skin, the nails are filed unevenly, theres big chunks of my nail with no gel on it. Awful. And what's sad is this mediocre job was done NEXT to Sarah. I'm sad I didn't request a specific nail person when I made my appointment, because it really looks like some people do a great job. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere........ read more

Sorry ... but "Walk-Ins Welcome" is laughable. I tried three separate times to go here and each time I was told there was a 2-3 hour wait. I tried to call for an appointment today (Friday) at noon for something about 2pm and was told "No Chance - Booked all day." It sounds great from the reviews but I shouldn't have to book a mani/pedi a week in advance. Three strikes. I'm going elsewhere. Update 9/28/18 For those that have sent messages to me accusing me that I'd take my time to write a false review of a small business, please know that the dates I was told by someone working at the salon that there were no openings to be had were on Friday, 7/20, Thursday, 8/9, and Sunday, 8/30. I have records of those specific dates as I immediately went to another nail salon nearby that actually accepts Walk-Ins. I stand firmly by my review. I really enjoy this place for gel nails. Sarah and Donna are excellent! They do such a beautiful job. Sarah's artwork is outstanding. She drew the most flawless flamingo and pineapple on my nails for my daughter's party. Donna nailed the shape and thickness I wanted for fills. My only gripe is that it's pretty expensive - $50 for fills. But I think it's worth it for the quality of the work. Make sure to try and make an appointment, particularly if you want a specific person, because this salon is super busy. read more

I used to live in Hazlet and come to Nails by Sarah all the time. While the decor is still very nice that service is not so much. I went in for a mani pedi yesterday an wasted my money. My nail tech was not friendly at all and barley looked at my nails while she was actually doing them. She spoke to her coworker the entire time I had a pedicure which made for zero relaxation. After waiting 22 minutes past my appointment time, they took someone who came after me instead of honoring my appointment. This is unacceptable. If staff is routinely running late with their appointments, management should do a better job scheduling appointments so people are not left waiting. And giving service to someone who comes later over someone who has been sitting and waiting is intolerable and not an appropriate way to conduct business. The services they do provide are average -- nothing special and nothing you can't get somewhere else for the same price. Both Korean ladies were arguing about me having gel tips removal but I never ever had tips done! They charged me $15.00 instead $5.00! All my nails were real and grown out with a French gel manicure done! All the nail places I've been to only charge me $5 for removal! If you don't know the difference between real nails and tips don't be a nail technician! When I called to make a appointment I even asked how much is for gel removal she answered $5.00 and regular manicure was $10.00 but when I was done they said $25.00?!? Regular manicure had lots of bubbles and shaping was average! They didn't even ask me to pick a color and threw me from one person to another! Came here when I had time to kill some time in the area. The place is beautiful, the atmosphere was very relaxing and in the morning there was only a few customers so it was nice and quiet. They were able to get me in right away and I did get to relax so for that reason I give it 3 stars. Otherwise unfortunately I would have given this place less stars. I think there is huge potential for this place but the woman who worked on me did not do a great job. She was very sweet and kept conversation going and my nails looked nice but when I took a closer look at home it was not the same. My cuticles were not cleaned or cut at all on my hands or toes, my skin looks super dry and my nail polish is chipping already and it's been less then a day. This is a fairly new location so I am hoping with more time and experience the salon experience will improve. read more

I saw them pop up on here a couple months ago and the pictures do not do the beauty of this place justice. it's not like your typical boring nail salon with the horrible stock photos and ugly tile floors. faux wood porcelain tiles with fake grass dividers and stark white accents. pedicure chairs divided by curtains and they use LINERS AND FRESH FILES AND PUMICE. coffee, tea, comfortable chairs and an amazing mani pedi? what more can you ask for! millions of colors and friendly technicians? If you had ask me two weeks ago to write a review I would have raved about the salon! However, I cancelled my appointment this morning while stuck in traffic (thought I was doing a favor so I wasn't just not showing up). Even though I have a major event this weekend and needed my nails done. I called shortly after and asked to have the one broken nail fixed. When she said she had open time I asked if I could just have them all filled. Sarah seemed to be accommodating, until I showed up and all she did was file the nail down. She was aware last week and today that I needed them done. She does an amazing job with designs and doesn't charge an insane amount like most salons in the area and in the city do. I don't like to write bad reviews, but this customer service has upset and inconvenienced me more than once, and today was my final straw. I have a big event tomorrow and was scheduled for a gel manicure today. I show up, and for the THIRD TIME since this place opened, they were closed when they shouldn't have been. No warning, nothing. This is the third time this has happened to me at this place, and I don't get my nails done very often... only for special events. Now it's too late for me to get a manicure anywhere else, which is what happened both other times. This place is beautiful and they've done good work when they were actually open, but I'm so done with them now. This was once my go to but has become my back up. They're on the pricier side and they up-charge for everything (I.e. Adding a coat of glitter polish is $1 a nail). Clean, attentive staff that does good work, they were great when they first opened but it is now very difficult to get an apt, even when calling hrs in advance. Uses one use products and plastic covers on pedicure baths. They are not very pleasant if you try to walk in and not accommodating at all. I don't really like this place. For my birthday I went to get my nails done with my friend. I was suppose to get gel tips and my friend was getting a French manicure done. The nail lady messed up and gave me gel nails. So we had to pay 25 dollars instead of 75 (At least I didn't have to pay 75 dollars) but we had an excuse from the lady saying that her 13 year old daughter got gel tips done and fungus started growing under her nail. Like that would happen, everyone washes their hands and they don't clean under their nails. Overall my experience was ok but I don't recommend this place. read more

Had the best experience here! Stumbled across some reviews on here and decided to check it out. I went in with high hopes and wasn't disappointed at all. The salon itself is gorgeous and kept extremely clean -- everything looks pretty much brand new. There are plants everywhere which really added to the atmosphere. Sarah (the owner) was SO nice and her employees were, too! I went with a gel manicure - which looks gorgeous - and the employee surprised me with a short shoulder massage while my nails dried. I started going to the salon but I've had nothing but issues with my gel manicure I like LCN they roped me in with the first two fills but within a week or less each time got the manicure a nail popped off at no charge they repaired the break except the last time I went $55 later another nail popped and my regular girl wasn't there and they charged me for the repair...to much money not good enough quality read more
