I have been a loyal customer of this salon for years and have personally referred many, many clients here, including my own family and friends. Sadly, I can no longer support this business and feel compelled to warn others. The owner, Anni, has always had a reputation for being nasty and disrespectful -- not only to clients but even to her own employees. Many of my family and friends stopped going years ago because of her attitude. I continued only because the salon was close to my home and I truly adore the pedicurist I've been with for years. Most recently, I had a truly upsetting experience. I had gotten a pedicure a few days prior, then tripped and chipped the polish on one toe. I went back to kindly ask for a quick touch-up. Instead of treating me with respect, Anni started loudly calling me a liar in front of other customers because I couldn't recall the exact day of my appointment (I work two jobs and don't keep track of dates). When I quietly approached her about it, she doubled down, mocked me by asking how old I was, and continued to speak to me in a nasty, humiliating way. Another customer who overheard even looked at me with sympathy because it was so unprofessional. I am heartbroken to leave the pedicurist I've supported for years, but I will never return to this salon again. No client deserves to be treated this way. If you are considering this salon, please be aware of how the owner behaves toward both customers and staff. read more

Hands down the BEST pedicure I have had in 25 years of getting regular pedicures! They do every step: nails/cuticles, leg mask, pumice stone, leg scrub, lotion/oil massage for at least 5 min each leg, hot stones, paraffin and herbal mist. The only additional treatment is if you want callus remover gel/scrap- which I highly recommend. Also, the manicures are also amazing! There is a man (i just assume he is an owner) who comes around during your manicure and gives you a five minute neck/shoulder/arm massage which literally makes my brain feel like it's melting. I drive 40 min just to go here, and it's not even worth running in to a local place for a quick manicure/pedi that I'll be regretting not going to Jewel! Everyone is so nice and friendly. read more

I went here for a pedicure. It was very unsanitary and I ended up getting a bacterial infection in two of my toes. My doctor told me if I had waited any longer I could have ended up with sepsis. DO NOT GO HERE!!! I ended up having to get my nails removed and put on lots of antibiotics. I will be ok but I could have not been. I called the salon to tell them so they can change their practice and improve cleanliness and the owner kept telling me "it's not his problem". They were very rude. read more

Honestly, so shocked over the treatment I just received today. I'm a very calm collected and respectful person. I got my gel nails done last week and they peeled off THE NEXT DAY. I called very respectfully about the situation. They told me to come in and get my nails fixed. I come in everything's fine. I get a gel manicure and Kevin tells me I have to pay full price. We go back-and-forth calmly initially that this was supposed to be a fixed and I shouldn't be charged. I asked him if he could call the manager whom I know about the situation who I talk to you to make the appointment initially he then dropped the price five dollars. That still wasn't the agreement. I was not supposed to have to pay to get it fixed when it peeled off. He continues to argue with me and raise his voice and yells at me and tells me to get out. I've never been treated like this ever and I'm so shocked. I will not be coming here again and I have been coming here for over a year. The owner has a yelling issue. Customer come early, come late, whatever the situation, everyone understands that's life. Makes for a very stressful and uncomfortable atmosphere. Tried this local place for a gel manicure and gel pedicure. They are very nice here, however it just wasn't my favorite nail salon. The technician rushed to finish my nails after a pedicure even though I got there more than two hours before closing time. They didn't have the hard gel to use under the manicure so that was disappointing. Also I get a French finish and the bright white didn't last but three days and they started to discolor which is weird. The pedicure was very good though getting gel isn't really a good thing. The way they set up the gel light is uncoordinated and they manipulated my legs and feet in such a way that I just wasn't comfortable. Terrible customer service from the person answering the phone! I made an appointment 24hours prior and called the day of to confirm that my appointment was still on time. The person who answered said there would be a wait and couldn't tell me how long. She said maybe 15 min but maybe more. Then she proceeded to tell me "come if you want or don't come at all" and hung up on me! Take your business elsewhere. It's a shame she's so unprofessional. I'm in Clark and I drive to Jewel Nail! I had a hard time finding a good nail salon in my area for a while now, and nothing compares. Unlike almost every nail salon, the service is immaculate. Every single employee there was friendly and helpful. John never fails to get my nails perfect every time. He does not let me leave until they are perfected. Jennifer also does an amazing job. They treat their clients like they are friends, and I love it. Such a comfortable and enjoyable experience every time i get my nails done. My color never chips. They get the shape perfect every time. They never pop off, crack, or lift. The massage guy was excellent as well. And, they are significantly less expensive then other nail salons in the area. I come here often because it's convenient, not because they do a fabulous job at nails but this review is going to be focused on your treatment as a human being when you come here. The service is okay but when you go to check out the lady at the front desk is such a bad person. Genuinely rude, disrespectful, and constantly threatens that you better have cash for tip the next time you come in. 90% of the time I usually have some cash for tip because I understand small businesses don't want to make it appear their revenue is higher than it is so they can manipulate the tax system but sometimes people don't carry cash. This woman at the front berated and degraded me loudly in the salon just because I didn't have cash this time. I told her either charge for just the service or add the tip don't hold onto my card, to which she held onto my card and tried to make it seem she wouldn't give it back. Five times I said just charge it so I can go and she stood there and proceeded to raise her voice and degrade me. Finally I snatched my card out of her hand and said you have five seconds to charge this for the service or I'm leaving. Then gave it back to her and she finally charged it. She is genuinely a bad person and the best thing this place can do would be to get rid of her because all the other people there are nice. I feel bad for the people who were there who had to watch this spectacle but this lady deserves to be reprimanded. Korean owned salon here! Walked in and the reception lady directing everyone around was yammering in Korean :) I was nervous about having a man do my manicure (no offense, guys!) But John was totally awesome and skilled. I walked in on a Monday at opening hour (9:30am) and asked for a French gel manicure with a small silver glitter edge. Showed John a picture and he got started. He was gentle, skilled, and FAST with trimming, buffing, and pushing my cuticles. He asked me at each step whether things were looking ok to me, which I appreciated. He did not hurt or pinch me with the tools at all, a huge plus! LOL. I can't believe he freehanded the French tip design so well, that takes some dexterity and practice indeed...... He also did a great little one minute shoulder massage with perfect pressure, and a great forearm lotion/massage. He doesn't bother to chat which is perfect for me, as I didn't want to distract him from doing a great job :) My entire French gel manicure plus the "design" took only about 35mins, which is super efficient and the fastest I've had a gel mani with design, and cost me $45 which is totally reasonable. They're running a color-gel mani + regular pedi deal for $49 right now. read more

I really love Jewel Nails everybody is so sweet and friendly here. I've been going here for a little over 3 months now, and I go to Jennifer for my nails. My nails never break, and my polish never chips. I come in usually around every three weeks, and my nails always look so nice! Jennifer takes her time and never rushes. She is also a great cuticle cutter. That's the key for nice looking nails. I also get my pedicures here as well, and I had several people do them all really good. I'd say Carolina is my favorite person for pedicures because she always helps me decide on a pretty color polish. This salon is great with honoring appointments, and I never had to wait. There is always someone usually available if you decide to do a walk in as it's fully staffed. I prefer to make appointments just so I can have Jennifer for my nails. When I find someone good I just stick to that person. I also love that this salon carries all the colors to the Opi gel polish line. There is a guy who gives a great deep tissue complimentary massage while your getting your nails done which is another plus. If you don't like deep tissue you can always tell him to do it softer. I love the deep tissue massage as it gets me so relaxed. I'm so happy I found Jewel nails, and I highly recommend coming here! read more

I have been going to Jewel Nails off and on for years now. (With a toddler & pre teen I don't get many opportunities to get out). Jewel is only nail salon I'll go to! They are always busy so I do recommend calling ahead but I'll be the first to admit, I always just walk in. I get the basic pedicure and gel manicure ($49) which is nothing fancy but it's perfect for me. I do see woman there getting all fancy designs and stuff so if that's what you want I suggest making an appointment. Today I splurged and got the honey pedicure which included a 20 minute foot massage. Then, while getting my manicure, I received 3 mini shoulder massages!!! I had an amazing experience and would highly recommend everyone and anyone to come! I called in asking if they had any availabilities today for a gel manicure and was told I could come in at any time. I came in 10-15 minutes later and was seated right away. I showed them a picture of what I wanted to achieve and the girl (who has never done nail art before from what I was told) carefully studied my hands/nails and started to strategically paint. She had a huge eye for detail and whenever she made a mistake, she started over. As she progressed with each nail, she studied the overall look to make sure that everything is proportionally even, sometimes going back to make adjustments to make sure everything's perfect and continuously asking me what I think and if I liked it. The final result was perfect. I love it! In the end, I got a gel manicure and eyebrow + lip wax which came to a total of $58. They charged an additional $10 for the nail design so it should've been $48. Overall very please and will definitely come back! read more

The reason I give this 3-star review is the customer service provided by the owner is extremely sub-par. Not only does she consistently mishandle appointment times, but she is also rude on top of it. I have been berated publicly by this woman on several occasions. I don't know if she truly doesn't understand that her paying customers would rather not be shamed when having their nails done or if she thinks its is good fun. There's nothing better than being totally pampered, and Jewel Nails has pampering down to a science! Never have I ever been so totally relaxed and pleased with a fill-in and pedicure. I had my pedicure first - and it was nothing short of amazing! I had ankle surgery 2 years ago and still have pain from it. My foot and leg have been feeling awesome since I got my pedicure last night! Everything from the mud mask to the sugar scrub to the hot wax to the massage were nothing short of remarkable! My fill-in was done using the SNS method, and although I was not familiar with it (I have acrylics), I was pleasantly surprised. The technician did an impeccable job! My nails and feet look awesome and feel great! The salon is inviting, warm, and clean -and the staff is nice and cordial. I even got a free piece of costume jewelry for coming in (my daughter LOVES it)! There's no better compliment to a business than a follow-up visit and/or a referral: I'm giving both to Jewel Nails. Although this place is about 22 miles south of my house, this is now my regular nail care spot! I've told my sister and my coworkers, and I'm recommending this place to all of my fellow yelpers! You will not be disappointed! I found the prices to be on par with other spots, but I'd gladly pay extra for the pampering I received here. We just came back from Jewel Nails and we are so happy with their services. We've been looking for a nail salon around the area, and just couldn't find one that matched our previous salon in north Jersey. This was our third salon in the area and it was perfect. We had an appointment at 12 and my friend was seen after a few minutes, and I was seen afterward. It was very busy today and I don't mind waiting if it is excellent quality. I had John and he thanked me for waiting as soon as I sat down. He saw the color I choose for the manicure and he said he would do 3 coats because the color is light. I thought this was a great indicator for the service I was going to receive- pictures included. I will go back without hesitation and update my review if there are any changes. My friend's pedicure was "the best I've ever had." Hot stones, massage, scrub, mask and wax for heels. The woman who did her nails- Raula I think the receptionist said after I called back-was very kind and firm, but gentle. Overall, the experience was fantastic. I highly recommend Jewel Nails! I would give them 0 stars if I could. Absolute worst nail service I've ever had. They coated on the acrylic so heavy it took them 45 min to file down. They did a horrible job doing that as well, none of my nails are straight and are still super thick. AND after all of the staff were getting mad because they had to take so long after closing, they started to rush. Then the kicker, I go to pay....apparently a full set acrylic is the same price for a full set UV gel with gel polish....$55!!!!! They're always very accommodating and solicitous, plus their prices are very reasonable. Places I've gone to in the past rush you in and out and don't add the little perks like hot towel, hand massage, etc. Here they have someone massaging your shoulders when you get your nails done, so I always give him a tip. I've been to places who won't take walk ins when they're busy, only appointments. When this place is busy they always make sure to get you in, and take their time doing a beautiful job. I have tried out a number of nail Salons in the Matawan area and I really like this place. The staff is very nice, wait time is reasonable (usually not very long) and they do a very nice job. I went there yesterday for the 3rd time and got gel fill ins and a gel pedicure and I am very happy with both. Their pedicures are really amazing.. they spend a good time on everything including the massage and yesterday my nails came out just as nice. I am not sure if they do fancy designs or anything but they're my go to in the area right now.
