Came here on a whim, not expecting much but ended up being impressed by the results! I called to make an appointment and they were able to take me in immediately. I didn't catch the name of my technician but she was quick and efficient. I showed her a photo of the nails I wanted and she did a wonderful job replicating it. I really appreciate it when all areas of the nail is painted. Some places dont do that but my technician covered everything without me having to say anything. I'm very pleased. Their price for a gel manicure isn't bad at all. I paid a lot more at another salon but Nails Expo did better. I got gel removal and a gel manicure with glitters on all nails. Total was $44 (not including tip) but I was able to use the Yelp discount for checking in. Note: There is a $2 credit card fee. Plenty of free parking spots. Will definitely come back! Came for a fill and was told about a 20 minute wait which was fine, I was in no rush. Looking around this place isn't the most sanitary and this location definitely needs some upgrades done to it. They have pictures from the 90's but I guess it's a plus for them since they are still in business. I scrolled through their yelp and picked a design. Once I was seated I showed the woman what I wanted, she then proceeded to tell me I needed to make an appointment for the design I picked and that she was too busy for it. Ok then I guess plain nails for me... She removed the gel off my hands and then instructed me to sit in front of the gentlemen so he could finish my nails. He did a decent job. No complaints on him. The end is what got me, I noticed a 5% discount as part of my check in so I said I would like to use this. The gentleman says "check with her to see if she will accept it" to which to the woman looks up at me like yes we do.. and he gets a calculator out..as he is calculating the woman says "it's less than a dollar anyway" in an annoyed voice. I ended up just giving him $30.00 since it would of been $25.25. Then I just left after that. While I have been getting gel manicures for well over 2 years now, I recently traveled to Japan where I became obsessed with their talent for gel nail art. Dilemma as Santa Barbara salons in my experience will not attempt this task. After some lucky yelp searching I came across Brenda's salon and pictures of her work. Impressive! So of course I booked an appointment to see if she was the real deal. Verdict? YES! It's been 3 weeks since my last appointment and my gels (minus the growth) still look amazing! She designed 4 nails freehand, very talented! (I chose from her selection of designs) however she is happy and willing to try new designs. While the commute may be long for me, it will be well worth it! My new favorite nail tech for when my nails need more than a basic color, which for those who know me is often! I would give this place a 0 if I could. I heard the owner Brenda being very rude to a customer on the phone. Brenda changed a customer's appointment moving it back 2 1/2 hours to accommodate a "friend" who had a later appointment. When the customer questioned her as to why their appointment had to be moved back 2 1/2 hours, Brenda yelled, "we don't want to do your nails" then slammed the phone down in the customer's face. I just thought, how ignorant, rude and unprofessional. The customer called back and apologized. But Brenda laughed about the entire incident later making comments both in English and Vietnamese. Michael, Brenda's husband is just as unprofessional because he allows this nasty and unprofessional woman to behave in that manner and get away with that sort of behavior in front of customers. I felt sorry for the customer on the phone. Brenda and Michael's attitude is inexcusable and these people should not have a business or be allowed to deal with the public. They are behaving like this because they are getting away with it. Both Michael and Brenda first need a lesson in professional ethics, manners and common courtesy. I vowed to spend my money at a business that knows how to treat their customers and knows and exercises common courtesy. I won't be visiting Nail Expo in the future. read more

Great manicures - Tina does awesome acrylics and fills. Very reasonably priced, and they don't get angry when you ask the different prices of things. But the real reason to come here is GEL NAIL ART by Brenda!!! Omg the best nail design work I have ever seen, hand painted! She also does 3D nail art! Second time they've managed to mess up a full acrylic set... asked for coffin style nails and Brenda started and shaped my nails then passed me to I assume is her husband where he began to shape my nails once again I then noticed my thumbs were not even I pointed this out and he shaped it again mind you neither of them check both hands side by side to make sure nails matched up evenly. She Knows a lot about nails and design just by even looking at her - however....her husband is an ass !!!! He's such a jerk sooooo rude !!! I feel bad that Brenda has that disgust in her establishment. Read the rest of the reviews and you will see others commenting in HIM. He started me off and was telling me I didn't know what I was talking about when I specified in detail how I wanted my nails then he laughed and shook his head. He also told me "just let me finish taking polish off and we can start over" wow !! I refused to let him finish me. I thought I had found my go-to salon. Got a full set for $30, and then a fill for $20. Gave a $10 tip each time. Michael was my manicurist. Upon my third visit, another fill, the acrylic on my pinky was lifting, so I removed it because I didn't want to secure a lifting nail. I wanted it replaced. I was charged $5 for "a broken nail." Ok, but I was charged $5 for one nail, and when he fixed it, he did not put a new tip on. He merely placed a thin layer of acrylic over my natural nail. This was a new experience for me--previous manicurists always put on a new tip. I wanted to trust in what he was doing. I wish I had said something and had a tip put on. The acrylic "bled" to the underside of my nail, which was not properly filed, and later it chipped away. I paid $5 for him to lay a thin layer of acrylic over one of my long natural nails. This was lazy and it was ineffective. It's like I have one retarded nail compared to the others. So, I guess I am still searching for my go-to salon near Port Hueneme. read more

First time I came and the owner did a good job but had a really bad attitude. She joked a little during the first visit, but over all was still rude. I assumed maybe she just had a bad day and so I decided to come back a second time (this time bringing my mom) and I was so embarrassed. I felt like she was rushing herself, being rude again, and didn't do a good job like the first time. Made sense why my gel nail chipped the 3rd day I had them (not normal). I called in Friday to see if I can come in to get it fixed and she was so bothered I couldn't come the moment she requested (Saturday, Easter weekend). I told her unfortunately I made plans for the weekend and she really huffed and puffed and finally told me Monday was ok. I decided I would rather pay someone to fix the nail that chipped than to ever go back there again. Would give a zero but can't. The owner and staff were very rude and the guy that helped me made negative comments about my tattoos. He was giving me $hit for having so many tattoos on my arms. The woman at the front desk quoted me $22-$27 for what I asked for but in the middle of my nails being put on the guy said, "It's going to be $30." After seeing how rude these people were I started to look around the place and saw the floor was dirty by the pedicure station and nothing was labeled sanitized or not sanitized. These people would get a huge fine if the state board every did a surprise inspection on them. Don't recommend going to these people. Brenda is amazing at what she does! Not only are her nails designs next level but the quality of polish she uses is great. This is literally the only place I have found in Ventura County that does a great matte black color that lasts. Any idea I have ever had in my head Brenda has been able to convey onto my nails. I used to love this place and come often. I moved a while ago but decided to make the hour and a half trip just to do my nails here again and I was disappointed. The man was rude and wouldn't listen to what i wanted. One nail was long, other was short. When I would tell him how I want my nails he would be like "OK OK I'll get to it jeez."You shouldn't dismiss paying customers. My nail also broke in the middle of the service and he tried to put the old one back on repeatedly and I demanded a new one. The lady was nicer though. She did a better job.
