Its not so common that a man writes a review for a nail salon but here we are. I cannot say enough about elegant nails. Annie and Lilly run a nice business in a professional, clean and comfortable salon in an otherwise obscure strip mall in Ventura. The salon itself has all the amenities you'd expect in a larger salon but part of the attraction are their price points. Just a notch lower than some of your other local nail salon options. Appointments aren't required but I highly recommend it because they do get pretty busy. How do I know all this? Well, a couple years ago my daughter and wife introduced me to the pedicure. Great service and job on nails. Easy to get in but would recommend calling first. They can usually fit you in with an hour or two.

I would not go here again. 1) I called to ask if they had room for a walk-in. They told me to come in 2 hours and set an appointment for me, which is fine. But when I showed up for my appointment, I still waited over 30 minutes. 2) My nails were filed unevenly (one flat sharp side on a few nails). 3) They used another color on my toes when I wasn't looking and didn't say anything--I guess the color I'd picked out had ran out. But I'd rather pick my own color than them just use one that was similar. 4) The worst part to me was that the manicurist cut my cuticle so badly it wouldn't stop bleeding. She didn't even acknowledge it or say sorry, she just kept silently burning it with acetone to try to make it stop. It's 2 days later and my thumb still hurts. The polish also chipped the same day even though I was being gentle with my nails. read more

Came in to get a full set and even though there was only one other customer in the salon the woman doing my nails was rushing. My nails came out pretty thick and every nail was a different thickness. The polish is very streaky. Just a few days after, the polish began to peel off. Came back today to fix it and she put the wrong color. I said these are 2 different colors. Always a good result with elegant nails. Annie always takes care of me. I have had issues in the past but she always makes sure that the next visit makes up for it. The pedicure chairs are always lined with plastic which I appreciate greatly. I'm also allergic to latex and they always remove the gloves for me without giving me a hard time. They have all the latest gel colors in stock always and don't charge extra for simple things like they do at some of the other nail salons. Their prices are also better than some of the other fancier nail salons. I would rather save a few dollars than to pay extra for a spa atmosphere to be honest. Lol. And the foot massages that they give during the pedicure can make you go to sleep in a hot minute. read more

Just got my hair done (at Michael Kelly....great salon, see my review) & had a little free time left before meeting my in-laws ( a LOT of time to myself would've been needed to prep for their arrival). Stopped in here to get quickie pedicure...& they are all so nice! They TALK to you & understand your conversation with them. The ladies WANT to talk to you...& they are genuinely nice & funny too. You know how you go to many salons and you KNOW they are talking about you? Not these ladies. This is my 1st visit & I'll be a regular here. I requested the Deluxe (Duluxe on their menu ) & it's worth the extra $. The scrub feels so good, then the cooling clay & warm towels...10 minute foot massage...Heaven! All the ladies are good at their job, so no favorites. Looking forward to get my nails done next time when I have more time read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. They are so beyond rude here. I walked in and there were literally no customers inside. The lady who does nails here looked me up and down and said "no" when I asked her if I could get a fill and said she didn't have time. She literally was sitting on one of the massage chairs on her phone with her feet up and acted like I was interrupting her show on her phone. Just plain rude and lazy. 2 weeks and I could still peel an orange with my nails!! I work with my hands a lot at work handling luggage and at home tending my vegetable garden. I haven't had so much as a chip!! Outstanding!! I had Mike fix a botched full acrylic set that I had done at Q Nails in Newbury Park. It didn't take him too long since all but one or two fell off already. Not once did he cut or burn me with the Dremel tool. He took his time and was expertly efficient. Now, my only complaint is that their in-house nail polish takes forever to dry - like a good 30+min. So if you can, bring your own. Other than that, you could sharpen your nails to a point and use them for self defense!! LOL read more

THIS PLACE IS A JOKE. I seriously do NOT know how they have 4 stars. The last time I was here, I walked right out. I came here on a weekday, and apparently they were having their inspection done by the state board. Everyone working there was slightly on edge. I came in, and they told me to choose a color. So, I picked a color. They told me to sit and wait, so after 10-15 minutes of sitting there, I asked, "How much longer do I have to wait, or should I come back another time?" So one of the ladies who were sitting there the whole time, was like, "Oh honey, you come sit here, I'll do manicure for you." I'm thinking ... really, you've been sitting there the WHOLE time & NOW you can do my nails? While, I was getting my nails filed, the state board inspector just finished and ended up speaking with the owner of the nail salon. So all the girls, including mine, went to the back of the salon to talk. Then they came out and kept talking in Vietnamese, and not paying attention to their work. I get that they are super distracted, but if they're trying to run a business then they should pay attention to their clients. They sat for 5 minutes talking, then went to the back again to continue gossiping. I WALKED OUT. I was like, it's been over 30 minutes and my nails are 1/2-ass filed. NO THANKS. Been here a few times and have always enjoyed the experience. Friendly ladies and always a smile on their faces. But this time the person doing my pedicure was very rude and my pedicure felt nothing like a pedicure. First of instead of asking me to put my feet in the water she literally hit my ankle with the scrubber to put my feet in the water. She gave me dirty looks the whole time even when I smiled at her. She literally only scrubbed the soles of my feet for no more than 5 seconds!!! Lotion was another 10 seconds. Basically I was out of my chair in record time of 15 mins!!! The wait and drying time was longer than the pedicure. It's going to be very hard to return after this last experience. read more

Absolutely in love with their service. I called in to ask about acrylics and they were more than happy to service with in the same day. I was helped within five minutes of my arrival. Tracy was very friendly and sweet. She did a beautiful job on my acrylic nails and was very attentive to whether I liked them. While doing such a beautiful job she upheld a conversation with me. If you go here definitely ask for Tracy. She was lovely. 10 out of 10 going again. $35 is not a bad price for acrylic pink and white gel. She even added the cutest black flowers to my pinky nails. I'm really bummed to write this review because I love this place but here we are. I went in for a pedicure and the man doing it decided to remove an ingrown nail without asking my permission. Just pulled it out and said "sorry it's an ingrown". It hurt and I was surprised he just pulled it without a word before. He pulled it and finished the pedicure and I thought it'll be okay because I love this place and they know what they're doing. I've been in pain the last couple weeks to the point where I can't put socks on. The pressure from socks hurt so bad. Finally about 4 days ago, I have had pus coming out and it's just not healing. I went to the doctor this morning and they said I have to get my toenail removed. If I knew I had an ingrown I would've gone to the dr to begin with. I've never had an ingrown before and this was a first for me. I wish he didn't remove it without my permission. I'm bummed that a pedicure has led to getting my toenail removed. I'm really disappointed to be posting this but customers should be aware so they can either avoid it or let them know to not touch an ingrown whatsoever. read more

My mom and I had been here twice for mani/pedi. My third visit I called ahead and scheduled appt with Elaine. When we arrived for our appt I stated we were there for mani and pedi with Elaine. She said okay Elaine will be right out but to pick our polish and sit down in the chairs. My mom sat down and I stood waiting for Elaine. I asked if she was coming out soon,as it had been 15 min, and the girl said she's in the back and will be right out. After waiting another 15 min I then asked where is Elaine. The girl just looked quickly and turned away as she said "Elaine move away." Totally dismayed, I asked her to please repeat what she just said. You would not acknowledge as to how she deceived me in a very cold manner. She kept repeating Elaine move away 4 mos ago. They totally sloughed me off with no regard or acknowledgement to how they treated me. I will never go back here and would never recommend this place. They are very rude and unscrupulous. My 92 year old mom and I found a great place at Elements Nail Spa. They were much cleaner and so kind there. Shame on Elegant Nails. read more
