Overcharged, overpriced. My manicure didn't last more than a few days before the gel started to peel and chip. I was not able to go back to get it corrected because I have an infant. I was told to wait and to pick a color and that they would take me and when they came to me they asked whether I had an appointment which I did not and made me wait longer instead of saying that they had appointments. Therefore they rushed because they already had me waiting. I'm not sure if others have had pleasant experiences however I was wildly disappointed as a mother of a young infant who's time to do nails is limited and to be charged up the wall for a bad job is not acceptable. read more

Called on a Sunday evening around 430pm for a last minute nail/pedicure appointment and was accepted right away. I arrived a little after 5pm, and they immediately begin to work on me. I got a basic white colored pedicure and marshmallow powdered SNS on my nails. I absolutely LOVED them! I came In on a day where I was feeling down. I haven't had my nails done since February 2020 and realized I haven't gotten them done in 3 years. So I walked around the block to Nail Island and was greeted kindly by the staff for a walk-in for acrylic and powder polish coat. My total was $67 (not including tip) but the experience was so lovely for a detailed manicure and cleaning, acrylic full set, and dip polish. They do charge for their disposable tools (ie., buffers, mini files, etc,.) but it's only $.25 per tool so it really is only a $1 onto the total bill after all is said and done. The experience was lovely and definitely uplifting. I was embarrassed walking in with the state of my natural nails but left wanting to show every stranger on the street how pretty they looked! I love writing good reviews on yelp. In fact, I don't think I've ever given 2 stars. I loved going to this place since they opened. I remember a nice woman and a man who worked there and were always pleasant. I think she was the owner. I haven't seen them in a while and I figured I'd go. Anyway, I went for a pedicure and SNS powder. During Covid, I have not been out much and I wanted to relax. I also treated myself to a spa pedicure, which I usually don't do. It is pricier but I wanted a nice experience. The woman scraped my feet very hard and before I knew it she cut me and I was bleeding. This was with the pumice stone which is supposed to just be used on the heels. The experience wasn't relaxing it was stressful because I had the feeling that I could get cut. She didn't apologize! She kept going. I told her I needed a napkin! I mean, who ignores this? Especially now? She went over and patted the cut hard. Then I asked for a bandaid. It's as if she was angry because she cut me! She started talking in her native language with other workers there. And just moved on. The SNS was good. I will say that but I rather not get cut. It is very uncomfortable because the cut is in my inner ankle. I can't work out like this because the sneaker will hurt the wound and not let it heal. The pedicure was $30. The SNS was $45. How am I paying this after getting cut. I still tipped her. I usually leave 20 percent but I gave her $5. She was furious. Do people forget that tipping is for service? read more

I have been living in Riverdale for the past 7 years and have had such a crappy time finding a good nail place. I've tried every single salon in the area and the service has unanimously been mediocre. I decided to try my luck with this place as it's the only place I haven't tried. I wasn't expecting much. I came in with my son and requested a gel mani and pedi. Upon walking in I was warmly received and they even let my son sit next to me for my pedi (he's 6). I opted for a regular pedicure because if you can't provide a stellar regular pedi there's no point in paying for an upgrade. Nancy TOOK HER TIME and the massage was FANTASTIC! My gel manicure was even better! She got all of my cuticle, the gel was beautifully laid and she didn't use a drill (she filed by hand which I love and prefer.)I received another stellar hand massage and the complimentary back massage while my nails finished drying damn near put me to sleep! I was just about to give up on nail salons in Riverdale all together and luckily I found this place! By the way, the prices were VERY fair and I left a $20 tip because the service was so good! read more

Place is nice and clean. Never have to wait when I get there. My last two manis have been crappy though. They look great when I leave the place but are horrible within a few days. The first time, I thought it was because I did a regular mani. The nail polish was cracking by the 3rd day. The second time, which was last week, I decided to do a dip powder mani. Those usually last me 3-4 weeks. It hasn't even been a week and one of my nails is chipped, and the other ones are cracked. I don't know what's going on but I don't think I'll be back. I went here weekly for about 4 months and will never return again. The shop is clean and well organized, but the prices, services, and results are very inconsistent. I'm not expecting red carpet attention but a simple acknowledgement of a frequent customer would be nice. Every time I came felt like the first time and not in a good way. I would get the special pedicure and constantly have to remind the worker to exfoliate my skin, which was apart of the service. $30 an attitude and chipped polish within a few days always followed. I've gotten SNS, gel manicures, and regular manicures. The SNS is always hit or miss. Sometimes is looked beautiful and lasted a few weeks. Gel manicures definitely much better at this location. My nails always looked really nice and lasted with the gel. I decided to get a regular manicure with no polish to remove the gel for my last visit. The lady doing the service asked if I wanted to buff them. I said no just clean them up but she decided to buff them anyway (never saying it was an additional cost). When it was time to pay....$60!!!! $10 for the removing the gel (never paid that before) $20 for the manicure ($10 extra for buffing) and $20 for the pedicure. Who pay $20 for a basic manicure??? As many of you have probably read my previous review on how great this place is. Its sad that I had to come back on here to give a not so good update. I've been coming for awhile and spend quite a penny on my nails since they are UV Gel Tips. Maybe I jinxed myself on the previous review because lately my nails have NOT been lasting me more then one week at all! They are always chipping and breaking on the sides. Every time I go back to fix they have an attitude about it like REALLY?? I am paying top dollar and tip extremely well. Why do I have to hear them complain in their language? it is really rude. I don't want to completely shade this place because at one point they did do a great job and my nails were lasting me quite awhile. This past weekend put me over the top when I went in on Saturday morning to fix the cracked nails (fill -in was last week) By Sunday (next day) one nail completely came off and the other nail, the gel polish lifted off of the actual tip. I cant even go back for just a quick fix because they are closed this entire week for whatever reason. I am Currently looking for another nail salon... Um, do ur job and fix it without grunts, pls! All in all, $35 gel manicure done well, polish layered thin, fast service (almost sweat shop fast), no interpersonal convo. They open up the equipment in front of you and the place has a comfortable and cozy modern design. -friendly, professional, and free massages: I was greeted with a smile. I did not have to wait for a long time. They are very attentive to your needs and value your time. They removed my shoes and socks for the pedi and even helped me put on my coat. They treat the preson wholistically and gave me massages that lasted for at least 5 minutes on my back, hands/arms, and feet/leg. Amazing! -UV gel french manicure: It's available. minor CONs: -You have to look for street parking. When my party arrived, they immediately went into action and made us feel welcomed. It truly has the feel of a spa. The staff are friendly and very professional. This place has been around for about 2 months now. Just tried it for the first time yesterday. Had a WONDERFUL experience. We were warmly greeted as soon as we walked through the front door and were asked if it was our first time there. It was basically empty and so we were taken care of right away. The manager (?) was so friendly and funny. As I was having my nails done she came over and asked if I wanted a free massage. Not one to pass on free things, naturally I said sure. It was great. She probably massaged my back and neck for a good 10 minutes. The guy I had (asked his name but wouldn't begin to know how to spell it) did a VERY thorough job, I was very pleased. A word on cleanliness: VERY clean. I really liked that they actually have their tools sterilized and open a new pack in front of you every time! I'm definitely a fan of that! The manicures are $8. I can't wait to go back. I was also given a frequent customer card, after 10 visits you get a free manicure! I think I may have found a new regular nail salon! My manicurist was rather detail-oriented with her work. She went through multiple processes to ensure my nails looked natural, so I definitely appreciate that. The down side to that was that it took 2 hours. I've never had silk/acrylic nails take 2h. She was also a bit rough, and I had to ask her to be gentle a few times. If you're looking for a very relaxing and gentle experience, this may not be your place. Side note, I accidentally smudged my nail right before drying and she redid the entire nail without complaining. Plus! Overall: 8 Would I go here again? Yes. I loved it - great job, lady took her time and massages even beyond the time allotted (10 minutes for lower legs and feet) and!! On top of that, she gave me a neck massage. All this for the price of 32$ (including 2$ for slippers). Just the massage alone was worth coming in here let alone the bonus of an actual pedicure. Still waiting on my nails to dry but I'm sure she's done a great job painting them. One thing, which I believe is pretty standard in most nail salons, that should be improved is the nail dryers. They are super slow. So, regular mani or pedi will take up to 45 min just waiting on nails to dry. That's way too long; maybe invest in more efficient dryers?? read more
