Well, there's something to be said about don't judge a place by the first visit. My husband's been about a dozen times. Me a few. Very disappointed by the way things have progressed. The owner did my pedicure. Was SO UNHAPPY. He REFUSED to list to what I wanted, did what he wanted and gave me one of the WORST pedicures I've ever had. My husband's nails continue to have issues. Last thing I will say is that after using my translator the workers talk negatively about the people (Black/Hispanic) who are getting the toes and nails done! Modern nails lost a customer. I originally booked a 12pm but my schedule opened up and I saw that they had a 10:30am so I booked it online that morning and received a confirmation text. When I arrived the person I booked had someone in the chair and I was told It was a 30min wait. I waited. Then another person came in with one broken nail- instead of the salon telling me it would be an additional wait, the customer let me know, explaining that she texted the nail tech the night before and they told her to come at 10:30am. They fixed her nail quickly. No problem-I'm next. I get up and someone else is now in the chair. I ask the front desk what is going on. They tell me to ask the nail tech how long. I said "no you ask, I've been here and told to wait too many times-what is going on?" The nail tech lets me know it will be an additional wait and apologized because they scheduled appointments via text and not with the salon. I leave. There are plenty of places that will value my time. At times their services can also be rushed with many corrections along the way. There is also a lack of transparency- if you cannot honor appointments or times say you are walk in only. And techs shouldn't book appointments via texts and not let the business know. Thank you for my wedding nails and other appointments. I will take my business elsewhere. read more

Terrible service. First time coming. I came at 5pm with an appointment. They gave me a cleaning lady who does not speak English to do my nails. She did a shit job. I complained and they said one of there techJustin will retouch me. Unfortunately this was the result of a week gel nails. Paid 40 bucks plus tip for nails to just chip and peel off 4 days after. Manager is very rude and does not care. The uv light. Where u put ur nails was sticky and filthy. When i raised concern the technician told me to shhhh i told her noooo. Does not matter that they offer, wine (boxed)tea, coffee, water and chips. The service is appalling and disgusting. Never have I been to a place that is so unhygienic and rude to its customers. I frequent Bronx terminal market and knew this place had been open a few months so I decided today I would give it a try. I saw online they open at 10am on Saturdays so I showed up at 10:30am and to my surprise they were still closed. several of the employees were sitting outside so I thought they must be opening soon and decided to wait. After an hour elapsed they were still not open so I decided to leave and come back later. When I came back about an hour later they were finally open. I went in and I was quickly seated and Henry began to work on my nails. He was fast which I appreciated but very rough, he cut me 3 times while doing my nails so bad that I was still bleeding up until I got home. Although my nails turned out beautifully if I do go back I will probably give someone else a try because the cuts were pretty bad. read more

I was at the mall and saw a sign for the salon with the prices it said $35 for a full set with gel color and 30 for a gel color pedicure. I thought that seem like a really great price so I went and showed them the picture the guy at the front desk was like yeah no that's old that's not the price and I'm telling him that's what you're advertising at the mall so I think you should honor still he's like no. And I really wanted to do my nails and toes so I'm like fine let me try them out. The nail tech did a good job but I don't even know her name because she didn't talk to me the whole time only when she asked what color and go wash your hands. Didn't give me no lotion or hand massage. Then I went do to my pedicure waited a bit but I didn't mind because they out the massage on the chair for me I enjoyed that. And I soaked my feet into warm/cool water. I wish it had been a little more hotter. The girl came did my pedicure but it felt rushed she did a decent job but not a great job. I made an appointment to come into the location showed up on time waited 10 to 15 minutes. Ask the front desk how long it would be the front desk lady told me to go walk around and come back in 25 minutes. The second time I came into this location. I sat there for about 10 to 15 minutes again how long it would be Justin nail tech I booked my appointment with walked over and asked me to wait 30 minutes. He took another client before I walked in. They just started. I showed up on time and they wanted me to wait over 30 minutes. They do not have any consideration of customers time I came all the way 30 minutes drive and paid for parking in the garage. I would not go to this location ever again they do not value. I've been going to this location the past year and this is the second time they did this to me. I do not go there all the time because I drive on the weekends to New York from Boston just to come out to the nail salon. once a month, I tried to get in there, but I will not go there ever again was very rude and told me that I can see someone else point I made my appointment with one Nail tech, that I like I know I can see someone else that's not the point, but my point is they should have more consideration for their client time and money read more

I usually get my nails done at Central Avenue, but I decided to test out Modern Nail Spa in the 151st Bronx Terminal shopping mall, which recently opened in my area. The location is stunning and appears to be quite luxury. It contains approximately 12 pedicure stations and approximately 24 manicure stations. I ordered a fill-in CND gel with color and design as well as a standard pedicure with callous removal. The young man assigned to Antony took his time, which made me question about his experience. He spoke very little English, so I called another employee who didn't speak English and provided me her phone number so I could translate what I needed to tell Antony. Usually when doing a pedi they start running the water to soak your feet but that happened towards the end. He started by trimming my toe nails, filing it, and fixing a broken toe nail I had. Just watching how slow he did each step made me wonder he didn't have much experience. When I asked him for callous removal and I pointed to the metal shredder he applied the gel product to soften the callous. As he is filling and talking to his friend I feel an excruciating pain on the side of my big right toe he removed a piece of skin from the side of my toe. I screamed ouch to stop. He apologized and I told him to finish with precaution and gentle not to irritate the cut he made. He painted my toes and then placed my sandals remember I had a regular pedi the polish was wet. He sent me to do my mani with Tim. I showed him what I wanted basically refill my hard gel, trim and polish. Showed him a 1 minute video of the color and design I wanted (sheer pink chrome with silver ombré glitter toward the middle to end of nail). We couldn't match the color nor the glitter. Since i interrupted to tell him this he seemed irritated. At the end after applying the oil to the cuticles he said done. He didn't put lotion on my hands with a quick massage not at all. I had to ask him to please give me some lotion. I will not recommend they lack more experience and communication. I also had to ask to disinfect the tools because they don't come wrapped they are in their work containers. I think I will remain with my central Avenue nail tech. I'm afraid of returning to do a callous remover. read more

HI. Let me start by saying this is a clean newer modern looking establishment hints the name. That's where it ends. I saw the three star reviews and thought let me give it a try maybe its the prices that are really turning people off. I went there three times first tried a lady twice that sits right next to Mya each time at least two nails on one hand lifted and broke off in less than a week. I went back and each time they fix for no cost as well as my toe nail which the polish just came off. I found out she's only been in this country 6 months and very inexperienced. Because the place is so local to me in the mall where I run my errands weekly I really wanted to like it. I said let me try some one else. I tried Mya and let me say she's much better than her neighbor right next to her but still not Good. she says she has over 6 years experience and two of my nails lifted and broke off. They may have not broke off in a week but four days before a two week fill in. lifting nails is dangerous because that's what causes fungus, water getting in between the gel and your real nail. Also Mya had an attitude when I asked her to paint my whole nail/paint the side of the nails. I am going to try Victoria nails. I have to go a little out my way but look at the reviews they really matter and probable worth it! read more
