Came around 2-2:30pm today and it is now 6pm and my nail polish is already chipped. My husband and I got a pedicure and they did an OK job. I do think it is weird that they don't have the traditional massage chairs because for me that is a true pedicure experience. I don't think I will be coming back, but I think this is a good place for men to get their nails/feet cleaned and have a beer. I really want to like this place since it's in the neighborhood and takes online appointments but both visits have been disappointing. First, they have a selection of polish called Dazzle Dry that costs extra. They have two tiny signs on the side of the polish racks that tell you this, but the signs are not obvious until they are pointed out to you at the register after you've been up charged. Second, the polish may be free of bad stuff but it does not last! Look at the other reviews: chips, smudges, etc immediately afterwards. If I'm paying a premium for special polish, I want it to last! Third, the pedicure chairs are regular chairs with no recline, massage, etc. They are really awkward for short legged people/kids. read more

Haven't had a chance to get a manicure here yet but I got my eyebrows waxed today and am extremely pleased. Update**** I got a manicure here last night. I normally get SNS or gel but wanted to give my nails a break. I loved my experience there and the staff was really nice. I also was happy with my nails but it's chipped already on day 2 :( I understand that this sometimes is to be expected with regular nail polish instead of gel or sns. So for the price and vibe of the place I was expecting great nails to be done, and it was okay. I have them two stars because everyone was really nice and that have a ton of colors. I was extremely disappointed in the nail cleaning part of my pedicure. I told them repeatedly I can get bad ingrown nails so please make sure to scrape under my nails and trim the sides. This was not done how I have experienced before. They didn't even scrape under every nail and clean all my toe cuticles. And I asked them to cut my toe nails short and don't worry about the shape, I feel like they did the exact opposite, nail shape is great and my nails are not cut much. I know there are different ways to spell this name). She conversed with me and did a wonderful job. The best manicure I've ever received. No BS! My cuticles have never been in better shape. My "Speedy Mani" actually became a full "Saloon Mani". After my manicure, to my surprise, a tech was available to do a pedicure for me! Let me tell y'all, I can count on my hands how many times I've been that relieved in my life LOL Indra! Indra Girl, you saved my life that night. Don't you forget it! I enjoyed a luxurious pedicure performed by Indra. Like, Thulan, Indra was an awesome conversationalist. She taught me quite a bit about Mongolian history and culture, which I appreciate. Apologies were made and another tech offered, but I asked for this technician because she is very good and I have been coming to her for several years now. As directed, I had put my request for her in the notes box, but was told that notes are often missed because the box is so small. This is the second time that my specific request either hasn't been seen or addressed. The services from Mako are great, but the staff coordinating appointments is dropping the ball. Just OK. I came here with a coworker for a relaxing day. It was the drinks were flowing and the pampering you receive is good. The ambience is luxe and sexy but I don't think I would return. Their polish chipped with in a day! I need my manis to last. That's why gel polish was invented because regular nail polish doesn't last. I booked a speedy mani /saloon pedi. 1 hour 20 minutes is the time they tell you when u book that this service should take. customers are also made to agree to paying for the service if you cancel rt before the appt or you're a no show. I walked in 7 minutes early at the same time as two other customers - a woman and her daughter. after waiting about 5 minutes I was approached by the woman who would do my nails and asked would I like to start my mani first before my pedi and I said no, I did not. she moved me toward the mani tables stating there are no chairs available so I had no choice really. i said I made an appointment, however she explained I would either be waiting - how long she didn't say - or I could start my mani. of course I need my nails done so I sat down, wondering what would have happened if I had simply decided to leave - would they have charged me? I noticed the woman and her daughter were seated in the pedi chairs rt after I was placed at the mani station. overall i am dissatisfied with the experience here. the whole experience took 1 hour 45 minutes, i had to wait longer to let my toe nails dry before putting my shoes on (its winter) and the pedicure is not good - my nails were cut way too short! One of the best pedicures I've gotten in the area! Just a really clean and friendly salon. One of my toes was smudged after a pedicure here because my nails didn't have enough time to dry. I let the salon know in a follow up survey as a slight issue but overall had a phenomenal experience and indicated as such. They reached out to fix it and scheduled me for a follow up polish change which was really above and beyond. Big fan of this spot! Throughout your mani and pedi, the technicians regularly check in to make sure everything looks up to your standard. The salon manager is always friendly upon my arrival and getting a nice drink is always a plus! They don't do gel, which means my Mani doesn't last as long, but I have noticed my nails are a lot healthier and stronger since I've started going to nailsaloon and using non-toxic products. I love that they produce their own line of nailpolishes that actually work! I'm going on a full week of regular polish manicure from here and only have the tiniest of chips. I try to get a pedicure twice a month because I'm on my feet a lot, so I've been to almost every place in DC. Most places are a hit or miss (depending when you go in and who is giving you the pedicure/manicure). I've been going to this place over the past 4 months and never had a bad experience. Pros: Clean! Very relaxing atmosphere No loud music or 5 tvs going at once on mute No one talking about you in another language (I don't mind people speaking in their own language, but you can tell when they're gossiping about you) Fantastic massage for both the pedi and mani Free drinks! They make great cappuccinos When you make an appointment, they honor it They don't bully you into paying cash Cons: They don't have a lot of different pedicure options like some other places, like different scents. The tech gave a really good manicure. I got gel with nail art after asking in advance who at the salon does nail art, but when I was talking to the tech (who was recommended by them) about what I wanted she said it was her first time doing nail art. I got a simple colored french with white stripe and she did a decent job. She did not have nail art brushes though (only had the brush usually used to apply dip powder at other salons but not the thinner brush) so the gel polish was layered quite a bit on the tips and ended up starting to peel about 3 days later and tore two of nail tips. Not sure why they have nail art on their list of services if the techs don't actually have the brushes or the experience to do it. If you are looking to get regular polish that has less harmful chemicals, they do have a good selection of brands and colors. read more

I pay less than half of that at my normal salon. If the service were markedly better I could understand it but there was nothing special about it. My salon doesn't serve alcohol but the mimosa I had tasted like the champagne or orange juice or both were spoiled so that was not a selling point. I had a "stalker" (unsafe) situation to happen there and she was so kind, compassionate, patient, & helpful. I truly appreciate your sincerity and attention to detail in helping me. The staff even raved how great it felt to be in a place where they didn't have to be concerned about their health and lungs. Great concept. The 1 star is off because my manicure/pedicure didn't last a week which is really bad considering I had a few events to attend that week. Nailsaloon is a beautiful nail and waxing salon located in Eastern Market, across from the parking lot entrance to Trader Joe's. The salon is very relaxing and sleek, and upon arriving you are offered a complimentary beverage including wine, teas, coffee etc. Everything here is organic and they don't use any harmful chemicals or led lights, which is my favorite part. Though they don't offer gel manicures, I have found the zoya polish holds up a little better than essie or OPI. They offer a speedy manicure or a regular manicure, for a $10 price difference. The speedy is always enough for me...they mainly cut out the massage and some extra lotions. The speedy still takes about 30 minutes plus dry time. They also have great waxing services and talented professionals. For sensitive skin they have a chocolate wax which works great. Overall this is a lovely salon with professional services in a beautiful setting. read more

I love how attentive and kind the workers here are and the clean, welcoming atmosphere. I usually feel like the techs take their time to give me a good experience, which can't be said for cheaper options. My only nit is that, last time, I went on a busy day, and my tech was running about 20 minutes late. For the first time, I felt like the job was rushed and that I didn't get my money's worth. For example, she forgot to offer me a dryer to dry my nails, and the service was much shorter than usual, especially the foot massage. I was extremely impressed with the level of communication and customer service provided, from the start of booking the services to the end of our treatments. Our bridal party stormed the place and we were completely taken care of. If I lived in DC I would frequent this location! I booked via email with their group coordinator, for our bridal party. I chose this salon based on their reviews, and we wanted our 10 yr old flower girl to join us for manicures and pedicures. 6 people were in our party, and every single lady had a lovely experience. The ambiance of the salon is beautiful, and pleasantly smells of aromatherapy oils. They offer drinks and wine as soon as you're seated for the service. Allow me to give major kudos to the nail technicians and the gal at the front desk that day (04/19 Fri). We showed up a half hour late (!) and were still taken care of, able to receive all our services. I cannot express enough gratitude for their graciousness. For this, I had to give the extra star to make it 5. This is a natural nail salon, so they don't have gel polish. But the products used were great quality, which included a grape seed oil/salt scrub for the pedis and sugar scrub for the manis. They also offer waxing services, which our bride took advantage of. Busy as they were, they fit in the bride within 15 minutes of us asking for the brow wax. Shout out to my nail tech, Tessa, for a wonderful mani pedi! I'm rough on my nails, usually the polish chips within a day. I got a fabulous pedicure and a good eyebrow wax, but the place is set up with the most uncomfortable and unconventional pedicure chairs I have ever experienced. Hard to get in and out of and really not spaced very far from the next client. Packed like sardines. I have a problem with my left knee and felt like I was going to trip trying to get in and out. And the way you have to 'scrunch' up your legs to get polished, on this weird bowl fitted to the end of the chair, is very uncomfortable. Why not pay the money and get the conventional pedicure chairs, so that the clients can be relaxed? read more

I like this place because they offer Dazzle Dry and The Gel Bottle polishes. Staff is friendly and the place is clean. They definitely could keep the polish bottle necks wiped down though. Also, service quality is inconsistent. At other salons I've had the a gel mani with Gel Bottle polish on that has lasted for almost a month, but my last mani chipped and cracked in less than a week.
