There is something about shopping at a dedicated beauty supply/cosmetic store (rather than just a drug store or big-box chain) that makes us ladies feel like we are high-end with our pinkies in the air. We are automatically makeup experts, beauty aficionados and only use top-of-the-line products, dah-ling.  These stores SHOULD have the most too-die for brands, the most sought after rare offerings and anything we could possibly need. Naimie's, a staple in the LA beauty scene, should meet these requirements, right? Well... sadly, not quite. Anyone who is anyone has shopped at Naimie's as the company has serviced local salons and the makeup department of the studios for what feels like forever. Originally located in Studio City; Naimie's relocated to Burbank pre-Covid on Magnolia/Naomi near the Magnolia/Buena Vista intersection. The exterior is imposing suggesting a large space that is sure to be beauty and cosmetic heaven; complete with a large, free parking lot (this is sometimes used by production companies when filming on Magnolia using it as base camp, so be aware). I've shopped at the Studio City location and had a general idea what to expect at the new(er) re-location. Or so I thought. Walking into Naimie's is like venturing into a warehouse stock room: cement floors, very high ceilings and exposed ducts/beams accented with what looks like an office area with windows above.  Cosmetics are located at the front of the store with the usual brands (MAC, NYX, Bobbi Brown, etc) along with some brands I've never heard of because I am not actually rich even when I pretend to be. The back of the store houses the beauty and styling products, accessories and whatnot. Here is the deal: every Yelper that complains that Naimie's is an empty disgrace? All true. They aren't exaggerating.  Reviews stated that most of the makeup is poorly stocked and I found this to be true. It literally looked like there had been a liquidation sale and Naimie's was trying to sell the remainder of the product before closing its doors permanently. The displays are not only mostly empty; but also 'dirty' in that the testers are grimy, customers have clearly used the product on the displays to try them and there aren't enough tissues or cleaning supplies when they should be handy at each brand's display. What the heck, Naimie's?! I find better selection at CVS and Walmart! What an utter embarrassment on your end! The beauty supplies were better fulfilled (and tidier) but the entire store should be grade-A; and not just half. Complaints also seem to be geared towards the employees at Naimie's. I agree that they all look disheveled, unfashionable, and out of place plus not a day over 16. I'm not saying the staff has to be 'good-looking'  or a certain age; but there IS a look you expect when you are a patron at a niche establishment. You wouldn't want someone cutting your hair at a salon if they had terrible hair, would you? Or buying wine from someone who doesn't drink? You get the point. There are expectations. I also agree with other Yelpers who have said that customer service lacks. A few employees were within my personal space and none even acknowledged me except for the sole older male employee - who was probably a manager. Let's work on these kiddos' customer service skills, shall we? Prices are higher than a standard store as expected but not by too much as I saw that it was only about $1-2 more than internet deals. Naimie's is honestly a disappointment and you are much better off going to Ulta, Sephora or even CVS. The shelves are poorly stocked and not organized, customer service is lacking and basically the space is too large for the amount of product which is fewer than expected. Skip this spot unless you are in the area and have a very specific product you are hoping Naimie's carries (probably not). It is certainly not worth going out of your way. read more

This is a makeup lover's paradise!! Doesn't have EVERY brand that ULTA or Sephora carries but this has a lot of professional and broadcast makeup. They also sell hair products and hair tools as well. If you are in the business they offer 10% if you sign up for a free membership. (Also, if you check in via yelp they will give you a discount) The store inside is clean and well organized. Some high expensive products sold here include Caudalie and Bobbi Brown. I wish they added some more brands like Charlotte Tillbury or Trish Mcevoy. read more

As a petite MUA it has been difficult finding the right chair that works for me. I placed an order online & Rafael reached out to me in order to confirm my choices, not only did he reach out but he also went above and beyond to explain the different height levels and what he recommends for my height. He definitely didn't have to do that but he did and I genuinely appreciated it because I wasnt sure what I wanted when placing the order but having a professional who is familiar with the product (Tuscany Pro) give more insight made a huge difference in my decision. Pro Makeup Artist here... I used to be a die hard Naimies shopper for almost 2 decades. Couldn't beat the crew working there (always pleasant, knowledgeable, wanting to help), and you couldn't beat the pro discount. Post pandemic (Burbank location): I will give grace regarding slim pickings in stock because that's what's happening everywhere. But what I REALLY miss is the old crew. These new employees are not as knowledgeable, do not ask if you need help, and lack the social warmth the other employees that used to work (mainly at the old location on Riverside) there. Yes, there are a few of the old crew (Henry, etc) and they still have all the charm and warmth per usual. It's always great to see them and get their help. It's the new ones that could use a pep talk and some product education. It's a bummer :( read more

I absolutely love this place! I've been shopping here for close to 15 years. They have an outstanding selection of makeup, prosthetics and hair care items. They also offer generous industry discounts if you work in the entertainment industry. One thing I love Naimie's for is that oftentimes if a makeup item or color is discontinued, you have an excellent chance of finding it in their inventory. The staff is always polite and very helpful in answering any questions you make have. As long as this place is open, they will have a loyal customer in me. Parking is easy, as they have their own private lot. So if you're looking for hard to find makeup, discontinued hair or makeup items and friendly staff, then this is place is for you. If you ever think of calling for product availability PLEASE DONT! I repeat DONT they will literally lie about not having something and pretend like they go check. I asked about LA Charme lashes because I am far and would like to know before going ! They had me wait and told me they didn't have that product. Everytime, in the 20 years I've been shopping at Naimes, ALL of the employees have been rude and unknowledgeable. If you ask them for advice they are going to go where either they make commission/spiff or incentive from. They don't really care to help. Most of them are starving makeup artists or what have you and don't want to really be there. I have called in the past to see if they carry a particular line, they said they don't carry it but a few days later it was on the website....??????? You could have said maybe it's only available online? I hate coming! I just do Buy Online Pick Up in store thru Nigel's. Least they're nice and you don't have to go thru hoops for simple info. Called a few days ago to inquire about the availability of a product. Had a sales person say "give me one sec" - then disappeared for the better part of five minutes. When she finally returned she asked who I was holding for. Not a good start. I explained I'd been on hold for five minutes because I had inquired about the availability of a product, and again she says oh, "you'll need to speak to a manager about that - one sec..." Another couple of minutes on hold and another associate returns (Gaby) to say that a manager is not available but may she help me? The associate was polite. And since she offered to help, I explained what I was looking for. She understood what I was referring to, and I volunteered my phone number so that she could please call me back in case we got disconnected or in case she needed any follow up. She took down my number. 24 hours later and still no call back. Called the store to ask for her and was told that she was "unavailable". So I called Beauty collection, they have the product in stock, so purchased the $250 item there. They also offered a 10% discount! I called back and this time was able to speak with Gabby and explained what it happened, to her credit she apologized and explained she was waiting for communication back from other stores to see if they had the product somewhere in stock. But she agreed that she should've communicated this as of course I would have no way of knowing this request was active or if it had been dropped. Thank you. read more

I used to come here all the time and ever since Covid they have zero selection, this place is a joke. They must be closing down soon and trying to sell whatever else they have left. I can't believe that they have no merchandise. I am a makeup artist and used to go to the Valley Village store for all my supply needs. Valley Village location is now closed and I can see the Burbank location closing its doors too. The employees are clueless on their brands and have no idea about anything. Its embarrassing. I love Naimie's and always have, but I feel like on my visit yesterday I was racially profiled a bit. There is a middle aged blonde (not natural blonde) woman that works there and while I was in the haircare section looking for curl cream, I felt as if I was being watched. I looked up and saw this woman watching my every move as if I was going to steal something. Never offered help just watched me. As I was checking out she comes to the front to further watch me check out and when I was finished she left . My friend said she has had the same experience with this woman. This is sad as most of us are industry professionals who have make purchases for shows that we work on etc. The young lady at the counter with dark curly hair was very sweet so that made up for it a bit. read more

In a nutshell-- I specifically went to Namie'e because I was looking for eyelashes. Those of us who are stage performers haven't been able to truly do our craft for almost 2 years. I thought Namie's would have the largest selection and give me the most personal attention to help me buy the best product for my eye shape. Well I was only right on one account-- they do have a very large selection. But as for personal attention, you can forget about it! I asked a sales lady if she could help me and she pointed out a rack of eyelashes and said "here". I tried to press her for further help thinking she was a professional and she again pointed to the rack and said "these are our lashes". Then, she walked away. As I perused the rack, I realized there were more lashes on the other side-- and even more lashes one row over. SO MANY lashes! Fantastic selection. Actually overwhelming and slightly intimidating selection. And no help. No help at all. Three stars. Average. I can get this much help in a CVS. read more

I usually do business with Naimie's when I'm in California. I really enjoyed my interaction with the skin care rep in person! She was very knowledgeable. I didn't have the best interactions when calling into the store in the past so I was pleasantly surprised while living in the area. I'm pretty impressed by this new Burbank location. The tables seem to be wider apart, the place seems more open and less congested, and the makeup areas are generally very clean. I would recommend more trash cans provided in each area, because I remember having to hold on to my makeup remover and scouting for one of the few trash cans in the store. I visited the store last week to match my shade for the new Dose of Colors foundation and I had a blast looking at it on the huge vanity mirrors.
