Went there a number of years ago but could not remember tge place. My wife on the other hand knew exactly where it was and even where we sat. She could have told me anything and how would I know? Anyway, we were seated very quickly and our server was there before we knew it. He took our drink order and have us a few minutes to check out the menu. When he came back we asked if we could do half Demarco and half sausage and pepperoni. Said yes so that's what we got. Pizza came quick and it was prolly one of the best pizzas I've had in a long long time. Although I can't remember the last time I was there, but pretty sure it was good then too. I will say that there was one very serious problem and we could have handled it better. You see there were 4 of us with one being our 9 yr old grandson. Pizza had 8 slices, so we each had 2. Now tell me how fair is it that Grandpa only got 2 and the kid got 2. We should have ordered a 2nd pie. Community pizza for lunch. Decor is quaint but fun. They have a HUGE local beer selection. I tried a few. ALL were very good. After watching Sooooo many pizza reviews, we decided to try the Neapolitan style pizza. Thin crust and cooked in a wood fire oven. So.... First and foremost pizza was good. Being a Neapolitan style, I was expecting a bit more crunch with the slight char. The tomato sauce was very good. You could tell it was fresh crushed tomatoes and basil. Bartender and our waiter were awesome. Talked to us about the local brewery, the styles of pizza, etc. very friendly and cooperative with all the questions we had. We were both pleasantly surprised by this local downtown place. Good atmosphere and good food. A must try when downtown Chattanooga. They do offer Detroit style and New York style pizza as well. It all depends on the way YOU like your pizza cooked! VERY good pizza! I would probably give this pizza, on a pizza scale; an 8.2 which is pretty high. A little flop on the crust, but the crunch, char and the amazing tomato sauce, partnered with the atmosphere and friendly staff made it a must visit pizza place! We finished it off with the local made gelato. I had milk and honey and my wife had chocolate. Both were very flavorful and refreshing on this very hot day. Reading the reviews, I'm pretty jealous of the people complaining about too much salt on their pizza. My pizza had zero salt and near zero flavor. I had the DeMarco by the slice. For three dollars, it just seemed too good to pass up. It came out looking great...but, three or four bites in, I felt something was off. Then it hit me! There was no flavor! It's almost like all you guys got on their case for too much salt, so they removed it from the recipe. lol I also had the adult fried cheese. They were just OK. The dipping sauce was fantastic. I'm not sure why they didn't use that sauce in the DeMarco Pizza. If they did, they did not use nearly enough. I think what I did not like about the fried cheese was that...in my head, I expected something similar to mozzarella sticks with flavorful breading. There was no breading to this...it was like a crisp, if that makes sense. It changed the dynamic. Less of a cheese stick, more of a wonton or empanada. I also love trying new things, so I had the blackberry vinegar drink. I don't know why I thought it sounded good, but it was written in fun, colorful purple chalk as if it was a great thing I needed to try....aaaahhh...marketing mind games strikes again. Loved it. This is our second visit. We ordered a 14" NY style, half and half, Drunk Pig and Hot Mess, and a couple slices of the Little Italy. The Little Italy was amazing, Calabrian peppers take it to the next level. Our server was great, attentive, kept visiting us, knowledgeable about the menu. Great visit, I recommend. Please look at the photo of my pizza it's a spicy Bianca add pepperoni and ask for the FRESH shaved Parmesan. I also love to dip in the cream Parmesan. My drink is the spicy jalapeño a little citrus because I hate sweet. Listen if I was offered a last meal this would be it hands down. And customer service .... Community Pie in downtown Chattanooga is a frequent stop for me. I go pretty much anytime I'm in Chattanooga, which is often. It's one of those places that's consistently good and easy to keep coming back to. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable. They have a patio area that's not fully outside, but the windows open completely when the weather is nice which makes it feel really open and airy. I actually had my rehearsal dinner here, and the staff was absolutely amazing and so accommodating throughout the whole process. Food-wise, I love, love, love their Italian chopped salad. The dressing is so good and it's something I end up ordering every time. They also offer pizza by the slice, which I like because they always have specific slices available plus a rotating "home slice" each day, they're also pretty generous size wise. The slices are good, but ordering a full pizza is definitely better because it comes out fresh. Another thing I really like is the adult fried cheese appetizer, which is basically like a spicy pepperoni and cheese egg roll and it's really good. Parking is typical for downtown. There's street parking or a lot across the street. Most of it is paid parking except for nights and Sundays. Overall this is one of my go-to spots in Chattanooga and somewhere I always recommend when people ask where to eat downtown. read more

After driving for about 10 hours & snacking in the car, we decided to stop in Chattanooga for a proper meal. We literally just drove the streets of downtown for a bit before we spotted Community Pie. After a few more minutes of circling, with nothing other than tasty pizza thoughts teasing our tummies, we decided to find parking & give their pies a try. As it was just after 6pm on a Friday night, street parking was free, and we found a spot about a block & and a half away. Once we entered Community Pie, the hostess advised the wait for a table would be about 20 minutes. So we asked if any bar seating was available. She pointed into a room with a lot of windows & bar seating facing those windows. We seated ourselves at a couple of stools facing the sidewalk & street. We ordered a beer flight: Diskin Tiki Tonik (cider), Chattanooga Chestnut St Brown Ale, Five Wits American Daydream (ale), and Hutton & Smith Basecamp Blonde, plus a separate Wanderlinger Blackbeary Hug (sour ale). For pizza, we tried a slice of Drunk Pig & their Detroit style pizza. Both were delicious. I definitely want to return the next time I'm in Chattanooga! read more

We had an excellent meal at this downtown eatery just a couple blocks from our hotel and in the middle of the action on Friday nights for Nightfall. Amazingly kind service from all the staff. Excellent wings! So tender and juicy, not over done. Drinks were just ok in my opinion hence why only 4 stars. Great pizza restaurant in the heart of downtown Chattanooga!! The service was great. The staff all kept coming to bring us our orders and kept checking in on us which was awesome. There is a fully stocked bar, if you want to sit at the bar and eat. The dining area is fairly large with large booths or tables depending on the size of your party. I was craving a salad mainly and was disappointed in that. They used old romaine that was ugly in color but the dressing and Parmesan cheese was good. They have a slice of pizza "of the day". Today's menu item was the "hot mess" and it was delicious! The Buffalo wings were really tasty and meaty too!! Definitely think it's worth checking out! read more

Stopped in for lunch today. Got seated right away in the front section with the roll up windows facing the street. Today's Home Slice was the Super Supreme. I ordered 2 New York slices. Crust was crispy and light, little char on the bottom, great flavor. The inside of the building was very cool. The only complaint I have is that neither the hostess nor my waiter bothered to clean the table that I was seated at. Loved the restaurant interior - it felt authentic and ever so slightly gritty. Service was good, very attentive. Ordered the Detroit-style Spicy Bianca pizza. The crust was perhaps half as thick/high as it should have been. Detroit style crust should be airy and a bit light; this dough seemed underdeveloped/under-proofed. I love cheese but there was just too much; this, and the somewhat soggy crust, doomed this pie to mediocrity. The coveted crunchy, cheesy exterior crust was only fractionally present. I'd try the Neapolitan style next time. The 4th star was secured by the affable barkeep, who served me a scoop of delicious chocolate gelato and refused payment. read more

I cannot recommend a place less than this. We came because of good reviews and left highly disappointed. They claimed they are child friendly and community friendly but we saw none of that. They were to offer dough for toddlers to play with and we asked three different times for this, six different people as they were always coming to the table in sets, and we never received anything. Our servers never offered to refill our waters, and the pizza was burnt to a crisp. This place is absolute garbage. You're much better off going to Little Caesars. read more

We saw an outdoor covered patio online and hoped they would be dog friendly, but unfortunately not. We ended up having to order takeout, but we were not disappointed. We headed on over to Pax Breu Rum, ordered some draft cocktails and chowed down on our pizza with wild abandon. We ordered a small Detroit Style Little Italy and a Spaghetti with Meatballs to share. It was plenty of carbs, red sauce and flavor to go around. I loved how spicy the Little Italy was. The spaghetti with meatballs was standard - a filler, if you will. While I'm sure it all would have been better dining in, it was a solid takeout order! Definitely recommend, especially for those garlic knots! Good job on the vegan deep dish gluten free crust! Nice change from the standard flat gluten free crusts. Was like a perfectly crunchy focaccia crust. Vegan cheese was good just needed maybe a slightly better veggie combo to make the flavors pop. Maybe a vegan pesto would have been a nice compliment. We randomly drove to Tennessee from Atlanta for Valentine's Day for a little adventure, and we happened to find this spot along the way. It ended up being such a great surprise and made the trip even more special. The food and service were amazing! I loved the long communal tables. It really created a welcoming community vibe. The best part of the entire experience was Luke, our waiter. He was absolutely incredible! His energy and overall vibe made the experience that much better. We ordered the Tie Dye (Detroit-style) and the Spicy Bianca (Neapolitan-style), and both were delicious. The Tie Dye had that perfect crispy, airy Detroit crust, and the Bianca brought great flavor and heat. My only critique would be to add a drizzle of honey to the Spicy Bianca to help balance the Calabrian chiles. read more

Community Pie's downtown location is our favorite. The restaurant has a retro vibe given they've retained the structure's original design. The booths are spacious and allow you a private area to enjoy your meal. Our server was quick to come to the table. We ordered waters and spouse had an original margarita and I had a strawberry margarita. They were both excellent, although spouse and I both preferred the strawberry over the original. We always start with the Grown-Up Fried Cheese. Six cheese sticks with hot peppers, capicola and mozzarella, served with a side of marinara. They never disappoint. We ordered the small Detroit style BBQ Chicken, minus red onion. Our server kindly replaced the onion with extra chicken. We also ordered sides of bbq sauce because why not? Great to pour on top of the pizza or dip the crust into when finishing a slice. Our orders came quickly and were hot and delicious. Commmunity Pie is a must if you are a pizza lover. They have so many options. But Detroit style crust will always have our heart. Give it a try! Can't wait to go back. read more

We visited Chattanooga over the weekend and really wanted to like this place, especially given the rave reviews. We had an early dinner on a Saturday, arriving slightly after 4. Despite it being fairly sleepy, it took our waitress 20 minutes to take our order (we had to approach the hostess at the entry and ask for someone to come take our order). We ordered the garlic knot appetizer - they arrived on a plate coated in a puddle of (olive?) oil - I took one and cut it with my knife and oil actually squirted out (gross). We also ordered a 19" New York style pizza and a gluten free pizza. My kids and I only ate a few slices of our pizza - it was probably the saltiest pizza I've ever had (my kids said it tasted like salt and they didn't want any more). We're not very picky when it comes to pizza - we'll eat takeout from national chains, and we also enjoy fancier brick oven Neapolitan style places. Pizza is pretty much universally enjoyed in our house; it takes a lot for my kids to turn it away. Given the reviews, I want to believe it was just an off night. Next time we're in town, though, we'll likely skip this place. read more

Was in town for a conference. Put in a late to-go order: the staff was gracious and courteous given my last minute whimsy. The interior was welcoming, neighborly, a place I could hang out at, despite what seemed to be uncomfortable seating (standard wooden bar-style setup). I went with a small Detroit-style (going on a jaunt here- I'm enamored with the ability to choose between NYC style and, imo, the vastly superior Detroit style pie) with sausage, peppadew peppers, and onions. It was good but short of exceptional. The tomato sauce was good, depthy, acidic, not much her ones or spice to it, however. Unchallenging, it seems designed not to offend rather than to wow. The crust, a beautifully done Detroit style crisp-to-the-edge (so when saying crust, it's kind of a "lack thereof" thing) had a good crispy cheese crunch to it. They've nailed the bread of a Detroit style pizza: it's got some textural elements akin to cornbread, but light, airy, chewy and glutinous. The cheese was good, but didn't set up on the crust (probably my fault, because I ate it while lava hot, necessitating the pizza roll fresh from the nuke box 'reverse-blow' technique). It's the toppings that fell flat. The sausage, sliced on the extreme bias, didn't really have any flavor to it; it was more ornamental than functional. The peppadews, a fond Louisianan treat, seemed to disappear, and the onions sloughed and had more of a mushy texture. With the Detroit style, they have mastered the base, but lack the finish. As an out-of-tower, I'd absolutely come back but won't likely have the chance for awhile. Maybe my choice was off, but for now it goes down as a mid-range 3 star rating. read more
