I normally go to Cobb but since traffic was lighter went here. Overall, it was busy with the holiday and seemed fine but my lobster tails that I paid $7.99 were going bad. I didn't realize until I got home to clean them for frying and had to throw one away with the loud chemical funk smell so disappointing. I absolutely love this place, truly a one stop kind of place. They have all of my favorite Asian and Mexican snacks and food, for quite cheap too! There is this little Mexican bakery there and their pastries are an absolute 10/10, and it's super good too! The worker who ring you up are always kind. The building used to be a smaller target so it's quite large. I would 100% recommend this place over k-mart, so much more variety and for a better price! Nice place and lots of options for everyone; and prices were fair. First time visitor, but will stick with regular seafood markets for my frequent seafood purchases. Seafood buyers be aware. Ask to smell your seafood to confirm it's fresh. On my first visit to this location, purchased some conch meat and shrimp to make conch/shrimp salad. When I selected the portion I wanted, the guy picked the meat from the front that was half thawed. I usually ask for the frozen meat at the back as it usually still completely frozen, but was distracted by the folks digging through the crab leg pile. Once at home and Immediately upon opening the first bag, the conch had a foul smell as if it was spoiled. Once I opened the second bag, it was definitely spoiled. I checked the head on shrimp and they were fresh. I was heading out of town for Thanksgiving and figured I'd handle the issue when I got back. I called today just to confirm and was told that I should have called the same day, next day at the latest. My first time here and I wasn't aware of this requirement. Although I froze everything as is, original packaging, they didn't stand behind their product. All of this to say, CHECK YOUR SEAFOODS for freshness prior to leaving the store . I had to see EVERYTHING!!!!! PANS Cooking pots, dishes utensils serve ware,..Fresh international fish, and seafood Fresh and frozen meats.. ya just gotta go. Here in VA Beach we have Grand Mart. I like most ppl the smell is frosy when you walk n. This store is CLEAN AND shelves are stocked. It's really terrible with the customer service of this Nam Dae Mun business. Now I understand why the business situation of this store is getting worse and worse in this competitive era, this business serves customers very impolitely and bureaucratically. Today I came here around 8:30 to buy things and support this business as usual, but after a long time waiting for them to check the price, they said that the price was not available. I had to go with an extremely rude and impolite woman who refused to understand that the listed price changed from $99 to $89. This woman was talking impolitely and then left, not wanting to work anymore. In my mind, I thought how could this happen? I went to the service desk to ask who was the manager, but she disappeared inside and I also wanted to know her name, but of course I couldn't. especially when i asked for the price of the oven which was so clear why she didn't accept it, she replied that IT'S A SCAM. i was stunned and didn't know what to say. but everything has its price, i scanned the barcode and saw that WALMART was selling it for 89 compared to 99 at this NAM DAE MUN store. Finally that makes it easier to buy it from WALMART so i don't need it anymore. so sad for this business for letting a mean, rude and impolite woman take care of it. I have been going to Nam Dae Mun for years!!! Originally, I would frequent the location in Tucker as I lived right up the street. To my surprise, this location is within striking distance of an area I frequent. I love the set up of the produce section. It is the first area you encounter when you walk into the store; you see shopping carts then bam, you're in the produce area. You will find all of your normal grocery store produce items but you will also find some more difficult to find exotic items. Once you start to browse the aisles you will notice that many of the sections are catered to grocery items related to specific nations and ethnicities which, in my opinion makes it easier to find items you want. There is a meat section, some of which is packaged in house on the spot and otherwise. As with the rest of the store there are items here that you won't find as most other stores like whole goat and whole pig among others. My favorite area of the store is the seafood section. Many fresh and farm raised items including salmon, blue crab, crawfish (when in season), lobster tails, octopus and so much more. This area can get quite busy on the weekend so take heed. Finally there is an area that has many different cooking tools and items for personal households and industry establishments as well as some vendors that sell cooked food and fresh packaged fruits and desserts. All in all, if you are looking for a place to go grocery shopping and have a much larger selection than an average supermarket, Nam Dae Mun isn't a bad choice at all! read more

Stopped by a few times last week. I wanted to grab some tea to nurse a cold. I love this place. Parking is plentiful, so no need to worry about finding a space to park. There are portable toilets outside so I assumed that you can't use the restroom inside. I normally don't use public restrooms anyway but that made me cringe a bit... but whatever. *insert shoulder shrug* The food variations are plentiful as well... it's a farmers market so I normally go for fresh fruit and things of that nature. If you are looking for fruit that you may not normally find at a regular grocer... visit here. My only concern was the lack of associates walking around if you have questions. I was a little confused and couldn't find what I was looking for. After some trial and error, I figured it out but it would've been helpful to have a resource. While staying with a friend, I visited this super market to find some Asian ingredients to make dinner. I gave them 2 stars due to the following: 1. Location: it's close to her house, so I guess great location 2. Food: the food selection seems to be less than the markets on Buford hwy. I couldn't find a lot of items or they don't look to be as fresh as the ones on Buford hwy. 3. Prices: I think the prices are comparable to the markets on Buford hwy. I think it's actually less expensive than Buford Hwy farmer's market. 4. Customer service: I wasn't familiar with the outline of the store so I had to asked a few staff members to help me find things. The answer I received was, "I'm kinda new here, I don't know where that is". I have also found staff members that spoke no English and had no idea what I was asking. So from a customer service standpoint, I was very frustrated. 5. Check out: they have maybe 10-15 cash registers, but when I went, only 3 of them were available, so the lines were ridiculously long. This reminded me of Walmart. And I hate Walmart checkout process. If you have less than 10 items, they do move you to the support counter to check out. When I got to the support counter, the lady told me I had to return my own basket to the front of the store. So in addition to holding my bagged groceries I now how to find out where to return the basket. I couldn't find a basket return section on my way out, so I decided to ask if I could leave it with the staff member standing at the exit door. She then pointed me to the other side to return my basket, but wouldn't take it from me. Awesome customer service, right? Overall, I wouldn't recommend this market. They have a huge variety of food options from different ethnicity from the spices to the ingredients. The aisles are well lit although a bit narrow in some areas. They have a bakery section that used to specialize in Chinese pastries but they seem to have switched gears and are now only baking standard baked items. The workers were very helpful and assisted with helping me find my items. The lines were super long which was to be expected but I have gone back a second time to shop as well. I like the different variety of meats you can get from here. I had tried turkey tips from a neighborhood restaurant and wondered where in the world they found such a thing. For those of us not from Atlanta, it can be hard to find a supermarket that sells more than just your typical American variety and, at the same time, do so at a price point that is affordable. We look for quality produce and meats that won't offset our weekly budget for food. As the name would suggest, Nam Dae Mun caters towards their Asian (primarily Vietnamese) clientele, but don't feel left out because they have a bit of everything for everyone. Expect to pay between 20-30% less for fruits and vegetables here compared to Kroger, Publix, etc. Meat & seafood run about 10-15% less than other stores. Keep a keen eye though, because I did see that some cuts are either right in line with other stores, and a few things were even more expensive. This is not your place to buy beer or wine. Prices on those items are higher than other locations. For a bit of perspective, I will share with any readers that my wife and I moved to ATL from Chicago a little under a year ago. Our first great struggle (one that's shared with the many thousands who have moved here from other major metropolitan areas) was finding decent grocery stores that are affordable. Those of us from Chicago, Philadelphia, NYC, Boston, etc. have all said the same thing to each other within minutes of meeting. The conversation starts out like this...1) Where are you from? Up north. 2) How do you like it here? I don't miss the snow. 3) Don't you miss the food back home? Yes! The variety here stinks! 4) Have you found any good pizza yet? No (said with tears in their eyes) 5) Where do you do your grocery shopping? Blank stare. The only thing I did not find was Rose Water, Essential Oils, Shea or Almond butter, Aloe Vera leaves (produce section did have small plants) and my Chopstick Holders because apparently I am still a kid and need these sticks to eat with chopsticks properly! There is a restaurant and the tipster waa correct, they do have lunch specials. I had a major problem with the cashier the third time I came here. She over charged me for three items. I waited until she was done and had politely went over the entire receipt with her as she corrected the issues. I'm gonna pull a Richard R here.... The Good: This place is freaking Huge. Its' in what I think was once Target. The plaza is across from AMC and Publix on MT. Zion. They have just about anything you can imagine at an international market. I am not saying it is the DeKalb Farmers Market of ClayCo, but it's trying. LOL. Most of the staff seem to be friendly. This location is much better than the one on Jonesboro Rd and the other one on Hwy 85. This location smells good too. They have food samples (people actually cooking in the store). I felt like I was at an international Sam's Club. The Bad: The parking lot. People can't drive, park nor slow down to avoid accidents. The staff never ask if you need any assistance. I had a manager (?) open a one next to me and did not offer the next person in line (ME) the opportunity to get in line next. The cashier over charged me on 3 items. I'm so excited that they opened another farmers market in the south Atlanta area. It's also convenient for most Asian elderly residents down here because its located in a easy access plaza location. It used to be a Target shopping center, so the parking lot is spacious. Pros: Fresh produce. Fresh vegetables. Fresh fruits. Fresh baked breads. Friendly workers. Made in Korea housewares (very good quality). Great prices and sale every week! Even have a mini authentic Korean restaurant in the front. There's also a deli located on the side to the back. Cons: Not that many cashiers. They check ALL receipts at the exit door. (Can get annoying because the lines can get long.) May not offer ALL "international" items or spices, so beware and don't get upset. There's plenty of other local oriental markets around. read more

Not really a fan of this place I sometimes go there when I don't feel like driving to DEKALB market which is more superior . There's only certain things I will only actually buy there. What disturbs me is the fruits are not marked with the necessary codes stickers . The code stickers ie.. 3-4-and or 9 is to alert the consumer know if the fruits are GMO sprayed with pesticides and grown or 9 being certified usda ORGANIC. I have yet to see any numbers on the fruits there . You can google exactly what the number sticker means and they aren't put there to check the price . They're there for consumer purposes. No organic stuff there at all !!! What is irksome to me is after you've left the register and PAID. You have to be checked out and receipt has to be scanned look at etc by someone at the door acting as security. I thought Walmart was bad . Not sure what they think you could steal after you've paid and there's only one way in and one way out!! read more

I'm hoping the south-side gets to know a lot more about this place. For sheer variety alone, Nam Dae Mun is worth the visit. But the real secret is: go for the fresh produce. Prices on fresh produce are really good. I mean, this should really be the star of the show. And if you're in for the whole shopping experience for milk and cheese and condiments and candy and cookies or whatnot, all of this is there. And those prices are comparable to your other grocery stores. But the fresh produce is much cheaper, and they've way more diverse a selection that your other grocery stores.
