Thuy did everything with 100% love from the flower arrangements to picking the food and wine that Mom would have ordered. She opened up her family and accepted mine as if we have known her for years and made us feel so special. I tried NAM kitchen for the first time last week and I really enjoyed the food and service here. The place itself is very cozy and nicely decorated. Our server was really friendly and she recommended a few of her favorite dishes. I ended up ordering the vermicelli noodle bowl with pork and it was delicious! Very light and filling. Their portions are big which is awesome because the prices are a little steep. At the end of our meal we had their matcha cheesecake which I believe is a seasonal item. It was very good! We had been raving to our friends about Nam and the lovely patio. So we sat on the patio, ordered drinks and food, and was shocked when the server walked out with our food in styrofoam containers! We were a party of five, and he must have had a stack of at least 10 styrofoam boxes...to say the least, we felt as we were eating at a fast food joint. Nam is not inexpensive and for the price of our meal, dishes, silverware, and real glasses would have been nice. The server told us they don't use ceramic plates outside because they might break. Really? The food was good, but the paper, plastic and styrofoam cheapened the whole meal. Not only is this type of service environmentally irresponsible because of the waste, it ruins the whole vibe of the restaurant. That was my last time at Nam...there are plenty of outdoor patios to dine at that serve meals on dishes. read more

Came here w my daughter and ordered beef pho, chicken egg rolls and shrimp w rice plate. The chicken egg rolls would have been good but they were heavily seasoned inside with black pepper. I have never tasted so much black pepper in my life. The shrimp w rice plate was very good. The beef pho was NASTY. It not only looked nasty like someone's leftovers, it had very thick random cuts of meat inside. And some were raw and never cooked through bc it was so thickly cut. The noodles were all loose floating around as if it was eaten out of. The broth was very murky and not clear. They give you a tiny little container of siracha with the saddest tray of old bean sprouts and herbs. The bean sprouts were not even whole. They were bits and pieces with brown tints in the edges. The space itself is an architect's dream, from the woodwork to the wine racks to the multiple flat screens (which were doubling as artwork with slideshows scrolling). Bonus! There are special touches throughout the space. Sat at the bar and ordered the Beef Pho. It was wonderful in taste and aroma! Fresh veggies and a mouthwatering broth. You can never go wrong with a hot bowl of pho on a cold evening! The bartender was very attentive, chatty, and made a killer cocktail. All the things I love in a bartender. Killer wine selection with a few beers on tap and bottle. Nam's ambience perfect for date nights and family dinners. They offer larger table for when the gangs all together and smaller nooks for when you want to be close. What a sweet spot this is! The decor is awesome and it feels like a very intimate restaurant. I went with a group of girlfriends and we were seated right away. I got the spicy lemongrass with chicken which was to die for! The portion sizes are great, the flavor was amazing! My friend got the steak pho and another got the tofu spicy lemongrass. It must have been an off night or something, but ordered the pork chops and bf got the pork clay pot. Both of our rice's were MUSHY. I've never been to an asian establishment and the rice was terrible- that ruined it for both of us. It was also incredibly expensive and small sized for what you get- better off just going to buford hwy. Was around 25$ for each of our dishes, typically something like that is only around $14 at most. In terms of flavors, (minus the rice) the dishes were pretty good- but for the price, OK service and size of dishes my overall experience was Eh. Came by at 4pm for an early dinner. First time here, so didn't know how seating works. Plus all those wine bottles when u come in confuse u as to is this a wine shop or a rest't? Checked in at the bar, and sat outside on the patio (it is a nice patio). But waited and waited. No one came out. Then a waitress brought me a glass of water. Then nothing for so long, I was about to leave. Then another customer sits on the patio, and she comes out again. I flag her down to order. She looks "inconvenienced". I normally don't like Vietnamese food that much but this place was actually good. Veg/tofu pho was very good. Broth tasted deep yet clean (not greasy). The tofu was lightly fried and had a little crisp to it even when soaked in the broth. Shrimp spring roll was also refreshing and good. Interior decor was nicely done. A little bit more upscale than other Vietnamese restaurants I've been to. Outside patio was also very pretty and would be a good spot for a nice day out. All the staff was attentive and friendly as well. This place provides valet parking as well. Never used valet parking before when going to a Vietnamese restaurant. NAM Kitchen has literally become our favorite place to hang out in the greater Atlanta area. I wandered in here last year, because I couldn't stay in the dermatology office waiting room (three doors down) without wearing a mask. So, I wandered into NAM Kitchen, like Lucy discovering Narnia. Upon entering, the stacks of wine crates guide patrons to the corner of the bar, while also separating the dining room from the entrance. Thuy, the lady who runs the place, always decorates the room for the season, from hanging upside-down parasols to twinkle lights and hanging plants. The place always feels very comfortable. I have to admit that, other than phở, I never really enjoyed Vietnamese food until I ate here. Now I can't imagine a sandwich more enjoyable than their banh mi. Thuy also has special events that she invites regulars to attend, probably once per quarter. These are also spectacular, with wine tastings and special plates served over the course of three evening hours. If you haven't been yet, you should. My wife and I will be the two at the corner of the bar. read more

Drinks are good, expensive but very good. I wish I could eat the food. I had the avocado rolls and they were great! Apart from the edamame and Pho that is the only thing I can eat here that is gluten free. Such a let down. And the staff unfortunately is not well versed in what is or is not gluten free so we made the decision to stay and have dinner under poor info. Soooo disappointing. I was so excited. I am leaving drunk and hungry. Good thing hubby is driving. It doesn't take much to substitute glutenous soy sauce with gf tamari or gf soy sauce...how awesome would it be if they did. Then almost all dishes would be available to most everyone. But for now if you have issues with gluten, have a drink at the bar and then go across the street to select where you will have a great meal and plenty of options. First of all, this place was hands down one of the best restaurants I've been to in awhile. The area is great, parking was easy, service was amazing, great food and drinks as well! Garrett aka Alien was just the best waiter everrrr. He recommended all the RIGHT THINGS! We started off with the shrimp tempura, salmon rolls, and tuna tartar with chips! Amazinggggg!! Then we had the Grilled beef short ribs and OMGGGG *chefs kiss* I highly recommend. I even took another order of it to go! The drinks were great as well (shoutout to the bartender). Very good ambiance & service . However the items I had left much to be desired. Specifically Lobster springroll': tasteless & where was the lobster?? For the price I expected better. Chicken Pho : the most tasteless pho I've ever had . After a couple of spoonfuls, I'd had enough and just sent it back . The best thing was the pork egg rolls. I rarely write poor reviews but Nam Kitchen provided my friends and me with one of the worst dining experiences ever. We were about an hour and a half early for reservations nearby so we decided to stop by Nam for drinks and apps. We were seated pretty quickly, but service was ridiculously slow after that. Shockingly, they were not very busy on a Friday night, but it still took about 15-20 minutes for our server to even greet us. We ordered a few drinks and appetizers and I will say the appetizers are very good and seem to come out fairly quickly (hence the very generous 2 stars). We ordered chicken egg rolls and shrimp tempura, which came with two different, very delicious sauces. The apps were so good that we ordered another order of egg rolls, which never came. The drinks, on the other hand, took a good 40 minutes to arrive. Two of my friends got their drinks, a beer and a cocktail, pretty quickly and they were both very good. However, two of us sat around as we waited for ours. Because our reservation time was approaching in about 20 min, I asked our server for the check and inquired about the drinks. He said the drinks would be ready soon and got the check to me within minutes. When he came to get the check, he indicated that the drinks would be out in a minute. I then watched him go behind the bar and make the drinks. I'm certain that the server was not a bartender because these drinks (The Lotus and Old Fashioned) were the worst drinks I have ever had. The Lotus was just flat out gross and the Old Fashioned tasted like juice. We had already paid for this and wanted to speak to a manager because it was just not right. We were approached by a manager who, instead of apologizing for the bad experience and finding ways to make things better, immediately started interrogating us about what was wrong with the drink and started trying to explain that he was the one that made all the drinks and that they shouldn't taste bad. I was offended that he flat out lied to our faces and told him that I literally watched our server make the drinks, to which he then said "oh yeah, maybe he poured a little champagne on top of one but I don't think he made any drinks". What kind of response is that? He then started explaining how the lotus and the old fashioned are supposed to taste and then indicated that maybe we just did not have a clear understanding of what we were ordering. I explicitly told him that I did not appreciate him aggressively mansplaining drinks to me. Not once until I pointed it out, did he apologize in any way. His approach was simply filled with aggression, belittling, and lying. After realizing he offended us, he did refund us for the drinks, but I will never return to Nam Kitchen again. With so many restaurants in the area, you can definitely find a significantly better option elsewhere read more

Great ambience, good service but really bad food which is over priced. We ordered the pork clay pot. I have had clay pots in the past and the beauty of clay pots is that it adds the extra earthy flavor to anything that's cooked in it. In this restaurant even though they call this a clay pot, the pork had no flavor and the meat was of bad quality. This place is pricey and when you compare the price vs the quality of the food, this was an extremely disappointing experience. The restaurant feels like an upscale place from Buckhead or Midtown, with tons of plants, wooden trim, wide open bar, and plenty of glass, letting in outside light. Once a lunch or dinner rush is in progress, though, the restaurant quickly begins to feel cramped, as tables are rather close to one another, and the ambient noise of others becomes a little too much. MENU (2/5): While the flavor was pretty authentic (I'm southern Vietnamese), the dishes are incredibly expensive, and the selection is quite limited. I was rather disappointed with the lack of variety. I live in Marietta and had wanted a Vietnamese restaurant in the area for a long time, but I think I'll just continue driving to Dunwoody, Doraville, or Duluth for my Vietnamese food. FLAVOR (4/5): For this visit, my husband and I had ordered the pork chop with shrimp plate. The flavor was authentic, but the pork was tough to cut. We were also given the wrong knives to even attempt cutting the pork. SERVICE (2/5): I visited NAM Kitchen right before the dinner rush began (so about 5pm). Our waitress was a young woman named Sky(e). Though our food came out on time and she was attentive with our waters, twice she attempted to remove my husband's plate despite the fact that he hadn't been finished with it. The second time, she just grabbed the plate and left without a single word. She disappeared into the kitchen before we could call for her. (The restaurant is small, and she was rushing back to the kitchen.) When we pointed it out, she could do nothing but apologize, saying she hadn't noticed food on the plate! That makes it seem as if she simply wasn't attentive at all. Most places would compensate for having taken, without permission, food we had paid for. Neither the waitress nor the hostess mentioned a single thing, though the hostess had offered to call us back. When I'd asked for what purpose, she'd had no reply. I don't just give out my number to businesses. While I tipped because our waitress did bring us water in a timely manner, I wouldn't say that anything else was complimentary regarding her behavior. LOCATION (5/5): NAM is located at the new Sandy Springs performance arts center plaza, with plenty of free 2 hour parking. The place is very well maintained above the standards of the surrounding neighborhood. read more

Food was amazing. Service needs some major work. I'm gonna chalk it up to opening month disorganization and attitude and will definitely give this place another shot. But when you call to make a reservation and the hostess rudely tells you there are no tables but when you arrive the place is empty, you gotta wonder what's going on. Had to take a second look at waitress outfits too as my dining partner mistakenly thought we were at a strip clAgain, I'll give this place a bit of time to get out the kinks but the food was great so ultimately that wins.
