    Early lunch at Colonial Kitchen
    Peggy H.

We love Colonial Kitchen. Everything is delicious and beautifully presented. A lovely restaurant with a calm vibe, this pretty space is relaxing and so enjoyable. We haven't ventured onto the patio yet but plan to do so soon, now the weather is cooler. My personal favorite are the drunken noodles. Portions are large, easily enough to share. Full of your choice of protein ( I like the ground chicken) and fresh, crunchy veggies, this dish always pleases. My husband loves their rice dishes, like basil beef and ginger chicken, and we both love their dumplings. Service is professional and understated. Everything is always prepared with the freshest ingredients. I haven't been able to tear myself away from noodles yet, but when I do, I'm going to try one of their highly recommended curry dishes. I love spicy foods and Colonial is happy to oblige. I can handle a lot of heat but their Thai spicy is one level too high for me, so I opt for extra spicy. Spicy-shy diners will be happy as well.

I came for an early dinner on a Friday. The place is easy to find next to Target and has lots of free parking beside and behind the building. There is a lovely outdoor patio and an indoor bar area in addition to the main dining room of ten or twelve tables. I was seated immediately at an indoor table. On this occasion I did not try any cocktails, but went directly to the entree. I had the Rama Chicken which turned out to be delicious. A breaded, crispy chicken breast sliced on top of cooked vegetables (zucchini, carrot, cabbage, broccoli) with a thick peanut sauce. A bowl of steamed white rice came on the side. I ate every scrap of food on the dish and was too full for dessert, although I would have loved to try their mango sticky rice or one of the homemade cakes. Next time! Service was quick and attentive. The restaurant was decorated beautifully and in great condition.

I'll start by saying after visiting a few times, there's not a single thing I wouldn't order again or recommend. Instead of going item by item, I'm going to just list them out because think you should go try them all. Panang Gyoza Fried Calamari Thai Egg Rolls Steamed Dumplings Colonial Beef Pad Thai, w. shrimp and chicken Crabmeat Fried Rice Drunken Noodle Colonial Fried Rice, w. Beef and Shrimp Mocktails My only complaint is they never believe me when I say I want my heat level to be Thai Hot/Very Hot haha.

    Crab Rangoon & Thai Tea

What a beautiful and elegant restaurant with a friendly and welcoming staff. Me and my girlfriend went here to grab some food rather late on Monday, (Indigenous People Day) and it was kind of slow likely due to the holiday. They were willing to accommodate us, but we just didn't want to sit outside. So we decided to take our food to go. Noy, the lady who was working the front and welcoming guest was so nice and grateful for our business. We ordered and looked over the lunch menu and how affordable everything was. I was really excited to try the Crab Rangoon. As we waited for our food (Shrimp Pad Thai & Chicken Cashew) out comes Noy with our drinks and an order of fresh Crab Rangoon with a house sauce. Literally some of the best I've ever had. Flaky, light, with a textured filling. I could probably eat a dozen of those if I wasn't careful. We sat and chatted with her for a while until the food was prepared. I can't wait to come back and try more of the items on the menu. It was such a pleasant surprise and speaks so highly of the staff's commitment to service and attention to detail. Also, the other dishes were absolutely delicious. We also ordered a Mango Sticky Rice...I've been thinking about it for 72 straight hours!

    Drunkin Noodles with Tofu

I ordered the drunkin noodles with tofu via uber eats. The meal was delicious and the portion was huge. Definitely a new go-to thai spot.

Visiting Colonial because of a highly suggested recommendation from my boss. I was impressed with the professionalism of the staff. They were attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The spring rolls and vegetable fried rice were tasty! The drinks were strong but sooooo good. The dining area was small but chic. They do have a bar away from the dining area that you can order food and drinks. I recommend making a reservation even for lunch.

    Panang Gyoza

Stopped in for a quick appetizer at the bar while waiting for traffic to die down. The staff were friendly and I really enjoyed the panang gyoza. They had free Wi-Fi and didn't mind me pulling my laptop out to answer a few emails. I would definitely come back here for a full meal when I have more time.

Walked in here on Friday because my boyfriend was craving Thai. We sat out in the patio, which was beautiful! We started with the roti which was good but wasn't a ton of food and then got the green curry and the pad see ew for our entrees, both portions were HUGE and very tasty. Service was good.

We came here on a Friday night to celebrate my friend's birthday. Good thing they are located I. The shopping center and have plenty of parking. As you walk in you are greeted by the beautiful patio. I wish it wasn't so hot that we could sit on the patio. Inside is cute too and we got seated right away. We started with both got lychee martini and they were on a strong side. I couldn't even finish mine, now mind I'm a super light drinker. We got calamari for our starter and they were nice and crispy. I got drunken noodles and it was delicious. And my friend got a noodle dish nd she said that was good as well. Service was a bit slow, but they made up for it with a complimentary mango sticky rice for my friend's birthday. I'll definitely be back

We came here on one rainy day in January 2024. I made reservations on google and we didn't really need them but I would still recommend making some if you are going on a popular night as the place is really small. They have a well-rounded menu, something for everyone, including cocktails. We ordered steamed gyoza, steamed dumplings, scallops and shaking beef. They also have brown rice. Everything was good, with gyoza being my least favorite. I highly recommend mango sticky pudding for dessert! Overall: decent service, plenty of parking, full bar, nice patio.

To start, they brought me a freshly baked loaf of GF bread and my own plate of salted butter when everyone else was eating bread. THEN I received a special marked up menu with the options that would be safe for me to eat. Had the scallops and they were divine. Also had a side of strawberries with creme and wowwwww. I could've eaten 5 of those bowls My husband got the mezzaluna which the staff described as little raviolis in Parmesan broth and he loved it. Everything 10/10, spectacular, no notes

I have never been to a higher end French Restaurant that only offered three white wines by the glass. Pushing bottles perhaps? The only white that even sounded half way decent was a boring Chardonnay at $17 for a 4-5 ounce pour. Insanity. The room we were seated in was fine, drapery everywhere which I'm sure was used to create a cozy intimate atmosphere - but the result missed the mark. Our server was gracious and attentive to start, but then became a bit absent once more guests arrived. My husband started with the much touted onion soup. No French chef would incorporate such a mass of cheese and salt to this classic preparation. There was nothing epic or outstanding about it. (even after our server said something like "the NY Times said it was the best in the country.") Yeah, right. For the mains I went with the duck confit accompanied by potatoes sarladasies. The spuds, if correctly prepared, are supposed to be garlicky and crisp after being pan fried in duck or goose fat. Mine were limp and bland. I have no idea what was in their sauce verte - as it added nothing flavor wise, and sadly just soaked the potatoes. The duck was OK. Again, nothing memorable. My husband ordered the $34 burger after hearing the $70 plus price tag for the Dover Sole Meunière. Lunacy. I mean the beef patty was tasty, but nothing better than an old fashioned cook-out one grilled in your own backyard. The frites were just weird. We have been to France on several occasions and never encountered such a preparation. Would we ever go back? Nope.

To make matters worse, they got the order wrong, and the noodles were very soft and lacking of taste. I do not recommend this place at all.

Cucumber salad had a nice balanced heat and was a heaping amount. Slightly too much oil in the marinade weighed it down. Pork dumplings were boiled so there was not a fried option. A huge portion and even taste. The dipping sauce was too spicy for our party so we switched to soy sauce instead. Would recommend the edamame because they give you a large portion making this worth it. Beef noodle soup with extra beef (accidentally ordered by our party). Large chunks of beef that wasn't dried out and well seasoned. The star was the flat noodles which had a wholesome taste and good amount of chewiness that hits the palate well. The sour and hot lamb dumpling soup was just okay. Again, big portion but seasoning was a little lacking. Had a good portion of glass noodles and bean sprouts. The sauce again was a little too much on the oily side so I don't think I'd order this again. The customer service was also not very personable. I didn't like the ordering on their screen. It made it a little confusing adding items and turned into us ordering more than we wanted, each time with a surcharge. Tipping is optional. I guess I was just hoping this place would live by the hype but it just fell a little flat. Maybe would try the dry flat noodle option necktie time.
