    Great snacks from Namaste Bazaar!

Stumbled in and found HEAPS of great snacks plus just-add-water meals that have been excellent for backpacking. Best of all, the ingredients listed on each of these shows recognizable food items rather than chemical gibberish and Red # whatever. Going back asap!

I got loads of ground beef, ground pork, and steaks because I do so much meal prepping. We got it all frozen, probably spent well over $300. Everything in our entire order was rancid. Brown and smells absolutely god awful. I've waited many months to give them the benefit of the doubt and see if any of it was good. It was not. I even went to Stewart's meats out in Roy (where we normally buy big meat packages from) and did a test trial. Let them defrost in the fridge for a day or so. Northwest meats was brown and had a foul odor, Stewart's meats was juicy with blood and no odor at all. Conclusion made. They sold us rotten meat. Not cool for the food industry. Have some standards. That could have made someone really sick had they not known and eaten any of it.

My husband and I are used to meat markets nearby and we immediately noticed that this place smells so much better. They have a wide range of meats. We purchased two beautiful ribeye steaks, some goat meat and also some lamb meat. Definitely amazing. Quality meat and great prices! They have a little grocery section with various sodas and desserts which are incredible. Try this place out. You will not be disappointed!

This was our third or fourth time eating here, and it has become our go-to whenever we're in Olympia or Lacey and craving Thai food. We were the first table of the day, so we were greeted and seated right away. I also have to mention that the restroom was spotless and smelled nice, which is always a good sign when you walk into a restaurant! I get the same thing every single time...the chicken yellow curry, which they call "My Woman Curry." I still find the name hilarious and interesting! I always order a spice level 3, and for someone who loves spicy food, it's exactly what I want. It's spicy enough to have a kick but still packed with flavor. Not the kind of spicy that just burns your face off and overpowers everything else! My sister-in-law got the duck curry, which she absolutely LOVES, and she ordered a level 2 spice, which she says is perfect for her. Sean got the same curry as me, and our daughter got the beef Pad Thai with a level 3 spice. For an appetizer, we shared the chicken satay with peanut sauce and the cucumber salad that comes alongside it. That cucumber salad is so good! It has a delicious marinade that pairs perfectly with the spicy food and gives you that cool, refreshing bite in between. The service is always friendly, the restaurant is clean, and I really like the decor and atmosphere. It's just a great little spot for a flavorful Thai meal. If you're in the Olympia/Lacey area and craving Thai, definitely give Esan Zap a try. We'll keep coming back!

Maybe I'm a little spoiled coming from California where Asian grocery stores are everywhere and…read morepacked with options, but I've been trying to find good local spots since moving to Lacey. Arirang is one of the smaller Asian markets in the area, so I decided to stop by while looking for pork belly and a specific ingredient--shrimp paste. I was hoping to find fresh pork belly since I'm used to my previous markets having a small butcher or deli section, but the only option here was frozen. It still worked out fine, but I did have to defrost it for a couple of hours before I could cook with it, which wasn't ideal when I was hoping to make lunch right away. One thing I did appreciate was their selection of Korean sides. I was pleasantly surprised to find seasoned black beans, which I really enjoy and don't always see at some markets. Their snack section was okay as well, though the overall selection felt pretty limited--understandable given the size of the store. I thought I might have missed the shrimp paste somewhere in the aisles, but when I asked the cashier, she let me know they were currently out of stock. That was a bit disappointing since I came in with a short list of ingredients and still couldn't find what I needed, so I ended up going to a Vietnamese market down the street afterward. The shop itself is pretty small, and the entrance to the parking lot feels a bit tight but there's a fair amount of spaces to park. I do like that this store is very close to where I live in Lacey, so it's convenient when I just need to stop by quickly. Overall, it's an okay neighborhood market and I might come back here for convenience, but I'm not sure it'll become my go-to spot for bigger Asian grocery shopping trips.

They have much of what I desire in Korean foods, though I mostly purchase the turnips, fish cake, and kimchee. That said, the prices are on the high end. The store is set in a sloppy way, and the windows are wallpapered with Korean posters (not smart for safety reasons). Also, the parking lot can be tricky getting into and out of. I'll keep going here for my sides, but I'm losing my shirt in doing so. EXAMPLE: Small premade bowls of rice (single serve) are $2.99 each. Same brand, one case of twelve at Costco only $11.99, or $1,00 each. Three at Costco for the price of one at Arirang.
