Hands down the best kabob in town! Juicy and perfectly grilled -- Definitely my go-to spot for authentic Afghan food. And the service was good and quick!!!

This is the best food spot in the valley other than UOVO. You have to order the Mantoo. I haven't tried the kabobs yet, but I'm sure they are great too.

    Kabully palaw meat

The meat in the rice smelled bad. Not worth the price. The rice meat and the kebabs meat were not fresh. Not happy visiting this restaurant.

Sabzi, mantu, kabuli pulao, and aushak

Had my first taste of Afghan cuisine here. The restaurant offered all the classic dishes and it all tasted amazingly. The service was great, the food came out quickly and hot and I keep thinking about how good it all was. We tried the sabzi, mantu, aushak, kabuli pulao and bolani. Highlight was definitely the lamb in the kabuli pulao -- it was tender and cooked perfectly. My only wish was that the restaurant was nearer to where I live! One other thing to note is that the menu did NOT have any of the Afghan items listed. The staff said they're getting new menus printed soon with the full menu.

    This kabaB was very tasty.

This restaurant has very delicious food and very friendly people And there is a very peaceful environment for everyone, especially for families. And I want to come here again and again with my family.

We came to this place on our way from San Diego to San Francisco and got there 5 mins before closing but this gentleman as a typical Afghan style hospitality said no way he'd let us go with empty stomach. He made us Ashak, mantu, qabli and lamb kabob and honestly speaking everything was finger licking good and better than any other place I had eaten. Truly authentic Afghan cuisine. My son who loves mantu said it was better than grandma's mantu which is a huge compliment. He even made us tea to fill up our thermos (Afghans know how important our tea during trips are) He showed us the typical Afghan hospitality that here aboard you rarely get to experience and made us feel very welcomed even though he had every right to refuse us for he was technically closed. This will be our regular stop during our trips to Los Angeles!!

I keep coming back to Anwar's Kitchen for one simple reason: the food is consistently good. Not…read more"pretty good for takeout," not "good on a lucky day," just genuinely solid every single time. This time, I went with the Anwar Style Chicken Shawarma to try something new. The portion size alone is impressive. The container is packed and feels substantial the moment you pick it up. The base is a bed of fries, and these are not just filler. They are thick, well seasoned, and sturdy enough to handle all the toppings without turning into a soggy mess. On top of the fries is a generous amount of chicken. The chicken tastes freshly cooked, with that warm, savory flavor you expect from good shawarma, never dry and never overly salty. There are pita chips mixed in, which add a great crunch and texture against the fries and chicken. Multiple sauces are drizzled throughout the dish. I chose a side of their spicy sauce. The creamy white sauce balances things out, while the orange sauce brings a mild heat and a little extra depth. None of the sauces overpower the dish, they work together to coat everything evenly and keep every bite flavorful. Diced tomatoes and corn adds a touch of sweetness that surprisingly works really well here. A sprinkle of herbs throughout helps brighten everything up and keeps the dish from feeling too heavy, even though it is definitely filling. This is comfort food done right. It is messy in the best way, packed with flavor, at least to me it was. If you are looking for something hearty, satisfying, and consistently well made, I will always recommend Anwar's Kitchen. Anwar's Kitchen delivers quality food, and I will keep ordering from them.

Honestly I had no idea Anwar started a restaurant so this was completely unplanned $40 meal for two. The establishment is clean with nice touches that flow seamlessly together for a pleasant decor more typical of casual dining. NOTE: There are currently no explicit vegan options! The Falafal is vegan and so is the salad but there may be cross contamination so mark this as spot as Vegan Friendly! Also the garlic paste has egg in it too! Ordering at the counter over the self-serve kiosk was great! The staff member was patient attentive and chill especially with a teen that was indecisive! After food was ordered and paid for, the staff member at the counter went to the back and the aforementioned teen then decided they wanted a drink.. I left them to pay for that with their allowance while I went to go use the restroom. On my short journey there and a bit of a wait I noticed the place was well staffed but a lot of meandering. The place was not busy at all we were the only patrons at the time so no biggie. But from a biz perspective down time is extremely useful for prep. Coming back from the immaculately clean bathroom (a little over 5min) the front was still vacant. It took a total of 10min for our food to come out it was delivery driver sealed (well done on that) and the front counter was still vacant. I decided to peep the contents while waiting for a staff member to man the front counter so my kid could get their drink. Total of 13 to 15 min they came back. FEEDBACK: Most of the staff are young and come across as pretty green to the restaurant and service industry. Please do not leave the front unattended for that long. This is for safety reasons too! Ok on to the food I peep in the bag and the presentation is nice! Compartmentalized and plated with care! The packaging was well thought out! Yes the hummus is heavy on the tahini, but for me it was still good just a different flavor profile than the usual you will find around Los Angeles. I got the falafal wrap which is vegan friendly and my teenager got the chicken shawarma plate. My wrap was delicious the falafal were cooked to perfection not dry and just the right amount of crisp on the outside! The flavor had a hint of anise or fennel which was a great touch! I got a side salad and hummus with it and the salad was the freshest I've ever had at a restaurant! It didn't need any dressing! My kid loved their meal only exception was the hummus but no other complaints which is high regard from the teenager! Yes the price is on the higher end but much is made in house and focused on Fresh as well as Anwar...with the decor and videos of his appearances/content playing. Although it's more on the expensive side you can offset that tag-teaming the discount apps such as "Upside" new try BRETTNEY2562 and "Fetch" use bonus 7P2KJN

It was also annoying for the waitress (not the gal that served us btw - a host perhaps) to give the vibe like they were doing us a favor by applying the $50 Birthday promo that THEY send via email (note, I verbally this flagged when we arrived just in case - but they didn't initially have it on our bill). My head is thinking "calm down--we ate minimally and got drinks. Don't offer it if you're going to have an attitude about adjusting the bill". It was just weird. They also didn't offer any bday dessert treat but we weren't super pressed bc we were so full. The meat was a bit overdone and all kind of tasted the same this visit. Didn't get to try the lamb chops and a few other meats, but still has a nice variety. Salad bar is top notch and consistent, although wish their black beans were plain due to all the meat. Drinks were ok--heavy pours but lower quality wine. The $29 "Wine Experience" package was worth it for my husband who likes variety of wines with his dinner depending on what he's eating. I'm sure I'll come again but it's been bumped a few notches on my Go To list.

Lots of seating options, wasn't busy for a late lunch, and everything seems very organized too. This place honestly seems great for both small parties and bigger parties of people. Last but not least, the food! We didn't get to try the kbbq this time but I love that there are tons of options on the menu. We got several dishes like kimchi fried rice (my friend's), cold noodle, beef brisket hot soup, garlic fries. Everyone was in agreement that it was all delicious. Definitely coming back for the kbbq next time! PARKING is important to mention too. If you can find free street parking consider yourself lucky! There is a garage with the entrance next to it that says "PARKING" which they had us pay $20 with cash or Venmo. Parking guy said we had 2 hours to return with a receipt from the restaurant so they'd give us $10 cash back (essentially making parking $10 or $20 if you go over the limit). Inside the restaurant it does say $5 parking on the wall which we asked about but this only applies on Mondays to Fridays, and we came on a Saturday. I'll add a photo of this. I did consider removing a star for the whole parking situation but I'll keep it for now. Other than the parking being a pain (as is typical for the area), we loved it here.

Service was great. The bartender and server were both super knowledgeable and helped guide us through everything, which made a big difference with a menu like this. The ambience is beautiful. Big bar in the back, great lighting, a mix of natural and more moody tones that make it feel elevated but still comfortable. For mains, the pot pies are a must. We tried the biryani and the butter chicken versions, completely different but both worth it. Portions are huge, you will have leftovers. The quesadilla with fajita peppers and tandoori chicken was such a cool fusion idea and worked really well. The boneless truffle chicken had this creamy, almost alfredo style sauce with Indian spices that made it super unique.
